A soft thumping sounded as Desrium patted Septimus' neck after hearing and feeling the rumbling in his throat. "There there, friend" he said in an attempt to comfort his friend. His toneless voice would have been off putting if Septimus wasn't used to the armored being by now. "What is the matter? Did the hydra call you some bad dragon name?"

"Maybe it would, but it will not be so," the unified minds spoke as one. Chromatus had very little understanding of the world, and until he came across this draconic creature, he had not a purpose. Now, he needed to decipher what that purpose was, and what it had to do with this dragon...

The tread of their marching feet was synchronised perfectly, sounding as a single booming thud. About 400 badai as well as 40 war beasts and carrying animals moved down the dirt track in a column, kitted in full gear. Flags bearing Azad's religious symbols bobbed up and down over their ranks. Blazed Blood stood at the front of the column, denying himself the comfort of a mount. Another caravan slowly rose over the crest of the hill ahead of them. It continued towards them for a while before suddenly turning round and speeding away back towards where it had come from. Several travellers had already turn back running at the sight of his pilgrimage. They were near the edge of Badai mapped land at this point, and Blazed Blood knew they were getting closer.

"That figures," Vix sighed, pushing a lock of auburn hair that had come unraveled from her braid out of her face. Arsenic made a low sound of agreement, looking up and wondering what had become of Aviva and Zar during the fight.

As Andruil led onwards, the creeping feeling of being watched began to grow, as if eyes were watching them from every direction. he had been told stories about Shadepines. the very trees were said to be possessed by the hordes of demons and spirits that haunted this forest, creating moving wooden behemoths capable of obliterating entire platoons of soldiers before being felled. for the sake of his comrades, he hoped that was a folk's tale...that it was an exaggeration of the truth...

"We're not getting rid of this thing" rumbled Septimus as he slowed. "Brace yourself, Desrium. I don't want you losing grip of me. I'm going to try and lose him" warned the Dragon, before going under, heading down several dozen feet, before turning back to face the surface, bolting upwards at full speed towards the surface...

Nitsunobue wandered aimlessly through the lost woods of Shadepines. Just when he began to feel despaired, and the dark influence of Anarchy was creeping up on him, he began to feel vibrations. It was minor, yes, but nonetheless, he hoepd it was who he was looking for. Deciding to take his chances, Nitunobue let out his trademark screech, hoping they might hear him....

Desrium's mouth opened just the dragon slipped beneath the waves again, bubbles trailing from the corner of his metallic jaws. Whatever he said was drowned out by the dive, his voice as incoherent as it was soft. He clung to his friend, still hunkered down as he made his descent and eventual ascent. He felt the water dragging at his metal body, a pull stronger than that he felt in the air. He kept his head straight, for he felt his ornate fin slicing through the water as Septimus' own fins did. It seemed as if the Hueilin's target was the moon itself, whose form was a wavering silver dot at the surface...

About 7 hours march away from the human's village, several horsemen met with the badai pilgrimage. The horse riders were armoured, but sheathed swords could be seen by their waists. The clothes they wore were dyed and sophisticated. It was clear they weren't peasants. They came to a halt 12 meters from the front of the procession, and their headsmen hailed the badai. The badai marched on, but relative to the humans speed, the horsemen probably figured it was good enough. Not receiving any response, the headsmen began in an authoritative voice "By order of the good lord Cain of Alderwood , this army is to go back to whence it came immediately" Blazed Blood didn't bother pay attention to another word. 'Cain of Alderwood' he'd heard enough. He gave a sharp cry and held up one hand.
Immediately the first 4 ranks of the procession dropped down into a low crouch, squashing the badai's already short height even smaller. Behind them were 4 ranks of crossbowmen, weapons readied. The horsemen hesitated, the archer's centurion gave the order. A hail of steel bolts filled the air, peppering the riders. The horses screamed and tried to run, only to fall to the barrage.

After the volley was fired, the front ranks of Badai war cried and ran forward, swamping the dying horses and riders, slaughtering them with axe and spear.

less than 10 seconds after the Dragon had plunged beneath the waves, he broke free of them, a massive explosion of water spiralling round the Dragon in a split-second cyclone as the Dragon rocketed up into the sky, arcs of electricity crackling across his form, vaporising the water on his scaley form as he spread his wings, soaring upwards as he shot towards the mainland, shooting past over the Hydra's head in a matter of seconds as his patterns faded from sight, the Dragon disappearing in the night sky...

Andruil turned, catching the roar of the wyvern that followed them, checking his blade, the constant glow shimmering but not brightening. As far as he could tell, it wasn't after them again...but perhaps searching for them. glancing at the others, he decided it best to take their opinions. "Do we let it return, if it finds us? Or do we send it off?" he asked...

"Foolish mortals....They waste their time talking, when the very forest itself seeks to consume them...Perhaps following them is more wasteful of my time than I thought" rumbled Arashi lowly as he flew high above, looking down both at the group of misfits and the two dragons above them. "Still...what's the hurry, Arashi? Afterall...you're as immortal as the forest and mountains around them. You have nothing if not time" murmured Gilgamesh's voice in the Dragon's mind, Arashi chuckling lowly. "You're beginning to see things from my point of view, Gilgamesh" growled the Stormweaver as he hovered over the group, his form engulfed in the clouds above...

Desrium's dark armored form glimmered as the light flashed and crackled all around him, the armored being regarding the bolts of power with his unnerving casualness. The water that covered his metal body was forced off by the rush of air, vaporized by the energies swirling around Septimus on his ascent. He kept his mouth shut and waited until Septimus slowed himself; there was no point in speaking now...

Chromatus watched the display with one head, the rest laying themselves back down on the warm sand. With his sixth sense, there was no rush in following the dragon's frantic attempt to escape him...

As Guame nodded, Djinn turned to face him. "Shall be off then to gather reinforcements, then." She said, before heading off, moving at a fast pace. Guame turned to tell her to wait, but already, she was gone. Sighing, the old Beastman turned back to the shape shifter.

" Would you like to have a place to stay the night? " The armadillo asked. " Heading off now would be quite dangerous, and I'm certain you need some rest, especially after what just happened..."

The Badai army flooded into the village, looting and burning indiscriminately. Most of the locals had already fled, anyone who stayed behind was quickly swamped and murdered. There wasn't any organised resistance. The village had little valuables, but lots of food and drink, which the badai were more than happy to take back. Most of the houses were made of wood with thatched roofs, perfect for burning. While the rest of the army did their thing, Blazed Blood and his inner circle congregated in the center of the village, and began performing the victory rites.

'Perhaps it would be best to let it come with us,' Arsenic said slowly, a frown creasing his brow. 'At least, as far as it takes to get out of this damned forest. after that....' He left the statement open, letting the others fill in the silence.

Nitsunobue continued treading lightly. He felt the vibrations slowly growing closer. Soon, he will be reunited with the others, hopefully.... but what of that demon? Where had it gone? Was it still hunting him? Why had both Anarchy and Tranquility become so silent? Had they left? So many unanswerable questions plagued his mind, but he marched on...

Within minutes, Septimus was miles away from the shoreline and the massive beast. He had proceeded to slow down gradually. Had it not been for the Zuppolandians' intolerance for Desrium, he would likely have stayed down there till the following day, sleeping and regaining his strength. As such, he was now running low on sleep, and he felt it weighing him down. He could no longer move at high speed for long stretches without a break, and he felt himself hungering more frequently. Once the sun had risen, he would have to stop somewhere safe and rest for a few hours...

After waiting a sufficient while, Desrium finally opened his metallic maw, a mouthful of chilled seawater pouring from his helm and falling off at an angle as Septimus passed over the land below. "Commendable flying as usual" said Desrium calmly afterwards, paying no mind to the streams of liquid running down the sides of his jaws, the stray droplets at the ends being blown off in the wind. The feeling of the air forcing against Desrium's armored body was lessening he could tell and his draconic friend was losing strength. "Though I do believe that last bout was your last of the night" the armored being commented before looking down at the world. By now, the two were passing over a canyon of sorts, a thin divide separating two halves of a jungle. The crevasse was riddled with large caves and foliage from the jungle grew down into the dark crack in the ground. "I think you should take refuge down there" Desrium suggested, gesturing down the overgrown split. The giant hydra would be unable to fit into the canyon whereas Septimus could manage easily.

"Yes...it was. Though I'm reluctant to sleep before sunrise after what happened with the shadow beasts" growled Septimus as he descended, looking down at the narrow canyon, deciding to investigate. as he neared the ground he caught sight of the various small holes and caves in the walls of the ravine. It seemed convenient...but with such convenience, came occupancy. there was no guarantee they weren't already occupied by something...

"Agreed. I'd rather not have those horns flailing around anywhere near me. It's difficult to find quality lined armour these days" commented Andruil with a smirk. "Oh, and horns are painful. Can't forget that" he added, getting a peck on the head by Shiryaz for his trouble, the bird's intense gaze locked humorously on the man as if it was chastising him for the horrible joke...

"Do you believe they've followed us as well?" Desrium asked with his familiar naivety. "Perhaps some honey will appease them" he continued to say. After such life changing experiences and revelations, even the most mundane features of normalcy were a luxury to indulge in. As the silver and black drake lowered himself into the thicket, the rustling of dry vines and roots permeated in the moist air. "I will look in here" Desrium said when Septimus moved in front of a cavern off to his left. The Blood Omen turned to face the rocky orifice and with a powerful kick, launched himself from Septimus' shoulders. He slammed onto the cave floor in a crouch with a haze of dust lingering around him, the sound of the impact echoing in the cave...
