"Then you leave me no choice," the creature replied, before the cave was plunged into silence. After a few tense moments, a flash of movement lunged out of the cave, leaping an incredible distance above Desrium's head, before disappearing into the darkness on the opposite side of the cave.

"You ARE aware that I have been trying to keep my presence largely a secret, right?" Zazikel growled upon seeing the intruder appear...

"There is always a choice. You could have told stories and eaten honey" Desrium retorted, peering into the darkness with his predatory gaze, scrutinizing it and making sense of what it hid...

"And I couldn't care less," the armored being responded bluntly, standing as still as a statue.

As Desrium's gaze illuminated the darkness, gradually the creature was revealed: Hanging upside-down from a rocky outcropping by its prehensile tail, the golden-eyed creature was slightly taller then a man, and resembled a human in body structure, but its face, arms, and any other part of its body not covered by armor was instead covered in light brown fur. The fur was very thick around its head, giving it a sort of mane. Its shoulders, midsection, hands, and feet wore black, highly ornate armor. The bipedal ape held its staff in one hand as it hung, staring with an annoyed expression at the Blood Omen below.

"Alright then, what do you want, hm?" the Archdemon asked, crossing his shadowy arms. "I could probably narrow it down, though..."

"Then by all means," the armored entity responded. "What do I want?"

"Either you wish to destroy me, or you wish to ally yourself with me," Zazikel replied. "I cannot think of many other reasons why someone would seek out an Archdemon..."

"You are partially correct," the entity responded, unmoving. "But 'ally' implies we are equals. No, I am giving you a choice: Life, or death."

"You are more hairy than I expected..." Desrium commented as his crimson gaze flared and flickered at the half ape, the Blood Omen's chilling disregard for the matter at hand never failing.

Zazikel narrowed his eyes. Cocky, naturally. "Elaborate," the Archdemon hissed...

"I have business that needs tending. Business that may not be well received by the...public. I need someone capable to handle things in my stead."

The ape dropped from his perch, twisting in air to land on his feet in a combat stance, staff in hand. "Don't say I didn't warn you," he growled, showing teeth much sharper than a human's...

"Why would I say such a thing?" Desrium asked, reaching over his shoulder and gripping the hilt of his blade. With one swift motion his brought the jagged edged sword from its sheath and held it with both hands in front of him.

"How about a few more details?" Zazikel hissed. "Like, 'Who are you' and, 'what business are you talking about?'"

"I am your superior, that is all you need to know," the entity replied bluntly. "And my business is taking back what is rightfully mine."

The ape-like creature approached slowly, moving like a true ape on three limbs, while the other held its staff to the side.

Zazikel shook his head in exasperation. He liked barbs to his ego about as much as the next Demon, but he wasn't about to let petty insults get in the way of a possibly beneficial partnership. "So... what is it you want ME to do?"

Desrium started forward as well, his ruby eyes shining bright and reflecting off of his sword. The rippling light from the pool ran across both his form and his simian opponent's, their distorted shadows flickered off to their sides. His previous naivety was replaced with a masterful display in terms of stance and movement. His blade was balanced perfectly and primed for quick movement. The silence that befell the two combatants was only broken by the sounds of flowing water...

"You submit to my will, and I will give you the gift of power," the entity explained in the same almost uncaring tone.

The ape creature suddenly swung his staff upward, not close enough to strike the Blood Omen, but the swing stirred a large cloud of dust from the cave floor, obscuring himself from view...

"There are many gifts of power in Aster, and not all of them carry such a price," Zazikel mused. "What makes your proposition better than all the rest?"

Desrium stopped and held his blade ready to parry a strike from the dust veil. At the same time, the armored being's heightened senses extended his awareness, listening for anything that could betray movement around him, his eyes primed to catch even the smallest hint of the ape...

"I assure you, my promise of power is unlike anything anyone else in this miserable existence can offer."

Soaring at Desrium from the side, the ape creature's aerial position removed the threat of discovery by noise, while its sheer speed made early reaction nearly impossible. Smashing the end of the staff against the side of Desrium's head, the blow was powerful enough to stagger his armored enemy forward.
