"There are also plenty of beings in Aster who can lie," Zazikel replied. "I would like to see some proof before I simply bumble into whatever you have planned..."

Hearing the otherwise faint noise of the ape's repositioning, Desrium snapped his head in the direction where it came only to see the blurry figure hurtling at him. The clang of impact sounded loudly within the cave, masking the deep grunt that the Blood Omen made as he felt himself stumbling. Desrium took a step forward and spun around on his heels to face the ape as it landed behind him, securing his stance again and staring the simian down...

Immediately as the ape creature landed it struck out with the staff once more, swinging the broad side of the decorated wood at Desrium's head the moment he turned around.

"And what proof do you seek?" the entity responded, clearly irritated by the request.

Desrium released a hand's grip on the hilt of his sword, raising his now free arm. He parried the staff with his gauntlet, the blow banging loudly against the metal before bouncing off to the side.

Septimus meanwhile, was examining the cave walls, following the vines and noticing the light blue swirl of light reflecting off water decorating the ceiling further inside. Intrigued, the Dragon began to follow, soon finding himself looking down at a pool in the cave, the vines growing across the walls extending around the pool, the few tendrils dipping into the water gaining a copper hue, amber bulbs forming on them, drawing the Dragon's interest. At that moment, the first of two loud clangs jerked his attention to the darker side of the cave, spotting Desrium....and what looked like a particularly hairy man...a primate, with a staff and clad in ornate armour, clashing. a second loud bang further jerked him from his semi-exhausted state as Desrium parried a swing from the staff, the weapon rebounding loudly. Septimus' half illuminated face stared right at the two, the shadow-cloaked side illuminated by his glowing iris and the runic patterns along his snout, the Dragon scanning the surroundings for a possible ally to the attacker, capitalising on the fact he hadn't been noticed yet...

Moving with the momentum, the ape creature swung completely around, smashing the staff against the back of Desrium's leg, almost knocking the limb completely out from under him.

Another bang echoed in the cave from the blow, Desrium then dropping into a kneel, pinning the staff with a knee, keeping it at a shallow angle. He then sent a strong blow with his fist into the wooden weapon, intending to snap a part of it off and lessen its range...

The ape creature released the staff, which clattered to the floor. With one end no longer holding it in place, the staff was able to absorb the blow with little damage done to it. The simian dropped into a low combat stance, hands raised in front of it...

Desrium then grabbed the opposite end of the staff as he stood, swinging his arm back to pull the ape's weapon out of reach and then stepping on it when he got back to his full height. "I believe you would hurt your hands if you wish to fight me in such a manner" the Blood Omen said as his burning gaze was fixed on the wily ape...

"You've a lot to learn," the ape snarled, bobbing back and forth like a boxer.

"Are you willing to give lessons?" Desrium asked, sheathing his sword and raising his metal fists as well, eying the stranger's spry movement and emulating them as best as he could, though much slower than the lightly armored simian

once he was sure there was no other creature in the room, Septimus proceeded to approach the pool, deciding to take a drink. Desrium could handle himself. He'd handled worse, and Septimus was honestly not in the mood to get involved in a fight. His mind told him to stop the fight and try diplomacy instead....but to be honest, looking at how things were going, he wasn't sure how effective that would be. lowering his head to drink, the Dragon noticed the source of the glow. a small cavern beneath the surface, casting light into the exposed area of the pool. it was interesting to say the least. perhaps soon he'd investigate. sniffing the water and touching it with the fingertips of one clawed paw, he made sure it was safe, before lowering his head to drink, downing several gulps of the liquid, which was cool, refreshing and....oddly sweet...

The simian raised a hand to silence the armored being, watching as the dragon appeared and approached the pool. "You!" the ape creature snarled, pointing at Septimus. "What do you think you're doing?!"

"He is having a drink of water" Desrium answered, looking to Septimus. "I told you my friend was tired" he added as he turned his crimson gaze back to the ape.

The Dragon lifted his head from the water for a moment, staring at the simian as a rumbling snarl reverberated through the cavern, amplified by the walls, his iris glowing brightly, forming two almost white rings in his eyes, the iris stretched by the dilated pupils as the Dragon stared at the simian, seeing perfectly despite the darkness...

The ape creature remained unfazed by Septimus' attempt to frighten it, completely ignoring the armored being's pointless response. "I said, what do you think you're doing?" he growled threateningly.

"What does it look like?" rumbled the Dragon in response, needing no further explanation. surely the simian could see he was drinking. unless there was something more to this place. A nearby mana well perhaps...

"You don't belong here. Both of you. Leave now," the ape creature snarled, its anger reaching a new height with the appearance of the dragon.

The Dragon sighed. Of course. it all made sense now. "You're protecting a mana well, aren't you?" growled the Dragon as he glanced back at the glow in the pool. He wasn't sure that's what it was, but he recognised the reaction...

"I'm protecting my home," the simian replied, showing no knowledge of whatever a "mana well" was. "Now leave before things get ugly."
