The black dragoness turned her head at the sound of her name, the tip of her tail flicking. "Yes?" she growled, fixing her jewel-green eyes on Andruil. Beyond her, Zar lifted his head a bit, the male dragon curious to see what the elf wanted.

Vix turned to look at Arsenic when she felt a gentle mental nudge. How are you feeling? the assassin asked, his gaze switching from eggshell blue to deep violet even as she watched. I'm okay, she replied. Your back? he pressed carefully. It's fine, Arsenic, she told him, tinging the thought with reassurance. I'm fine. Just tired. She felt his relief, and his deep concern when his thoughts turned to Aviva, and the other assassins back home. He didn't bring up his worries directly though, and she didn't try to make him. When he spoke again, it was to say, Brionna and Rowan taught you well. They'd be proud of you, if they'd been here to see you fight. He paused and added more softly, surprising her, And so would your parents. She couldn't come up with a response to that; she turned away, plucking a few long blades of grass and beginning to weave them into a bracelet, to give herself something to do. Arsenic concluded, No one can say you're not fit to bear the Adsila name, and withdrew, leaving Vix alone with her thoughts.

"Would you mind me taking a look at your injuries?" he asked carefully, not wanting to worry the Dragon before him, but making sure his concern was audible...

Aviva flicked out her venom-coated tongue, considering, before growling, "Look away, though I don't think you'll find anything surprising." She rested her chin on her good forelimb, extending the wing folded against her injured side carefully so as not to accidentally catch Andruil in the jaw with it. The patterns on the dappled, pale yellow and black membranes cast intricate shadows where the light managed to partially shine through them. Her other forelimb was stretched out in front of her, the formidable claws at the end of each digit on her hand only partially obscured by the grass.

Supporting the creatures was far beyond Desrium's capabilities. In mere seconds the strain of keeping the ravenous animals at a safe distance overwhelmed him, snapping him out of his meditative state. He collapsed onto his back with the monkeys dropping onto him, one landing in such a way that it stared into the Blood Omen's eyes, its lips curled to reveal vicious fangs. It let out a rasping hiss, to which Desrium responded by slamming a metal fist into its jaws. He then threw the dazed animal off, kicked at those that remained and then rolled onto his feet. Lunging from both his left and right, two monkeys restrained his arms with their four powerful limbs as another pair charged from both the front and back. Desrium turned in place, swinging the creatures about, the other two colliding with them almost simultaneously and slamming them against his metal hide. With their grip broken, Desrium shoved the two pairs of baboon-creatures to the ground and then charged toward the staff, only to have one of the creatures pounce onto his back. With two hands it covered Desrium's eyes and with the other two it shook his head, trying to disorient him. He staggered forward and stopped running, grabbing the monkey just under its arms and yanking it over his shoulders. It made deep barking noises as it was held upside down, grabbing at the armored being, who punted it into a tree just after he released it.

"That 'knight' that the author speaks of. You are in possession of his likeness" the golem answered. "And that 'knight' is still around. Indeed, a force of darkness that needs to be purged from...our land. Your council is famed for its successes against the arcane arts. Naturally, you'd be the best to kill him"

Andruil chuckled grimly at the comment. "After the kind of things I've seen, very little surprises me" he said as he began to circle the Dragon, noting the bruised look of her flank, which looked considerably swollen. He was impressed she could fly after the blow that had done that to her. He eyed Tetto'eko over his shoulder. Flesh wounds, he could mend with the potions he had. Broken limbs, he could put in splints. but broken ribs were somewhat out of his area of expertise. Eyeing the Dragoness' forelimbs, noting how she was careful not to put pressure on it, stepping in close to take a good look. "How does your forelimb feel?" he asked as he crouched beside the limb, the medical supplies and the makeshift splints he hoped he wouldn't need to use set down on the ground beside him...

"Do you have any more reliable sources on this thing's capabilities? I can tell just by looking at the first page that there will be a lot of exaggeration and vagueness as to what it is capable of" said the black robed man as he looked down at the book, then back at the golem...

Nitsunobue's mind drifted into the long past as he rested in the placid waters. He remembered the days when Aster was very much unlike how it was today.... for one, homonids were not as organized or as powerful as they were today, and many of his kin roamed the lands. Ah, yes. He recalled the days in the warm sun, the winds howling and kicking up dust into his face, warming his hide from the cold evening. He recalled his family, and his loved one... along with his rival, Chishiokoya. He remembered when that brute took her from him, and he got into a dual with him for her favor. That was the day he lost his loved one, the day he was exiled... the day he lost everything he cared about. He was forced to wander the lands as an exile, left to die to the ruthless and unforgiving badlands of Aster, fighting off Drakes, Wyverns, trolls.... anything that came his way was killed. Then came the day he was ambushed by those human hunters.... the day he had lost his horn, and retreated into that cave, before it collapsed on top of him and the fools at attacked him. He had begun a hibernation there, and now, here he is, god knows how far into the future. He hasn't seen another of his kind in over 400 years, and that was just an old skeleton lying at the base of a cliff when those dwarves awoke him.

The horned brute's eyes suddenly shot open, the creature's slumber cut short by depressing memories and anger. The creature let out a yawn, before submerging his head under the water to cool it off, before he walked out of the water, his body glistening in the sunlight, his wings and horn dripping with water...

"It feels broken," Aviva replied, watching Andruil calmly, not even attempting to move the limb. "Something isn't sitting right here." She lowered her head and gently tapped a spot a few inches above her wrist, where the skin was bulging outward as something pressed on it from the inside, in a way that definitely didn't look right.

Nitsunobue overheard Aviva, and glanced toward her curiously. He wondered....

"Does it feel like something moving around inside? Along with stinging pain?"

Desrium struggled towards the the staff after battling through offensive after offensive of the monkeys, kicking them away, pushing them into each other. Still, they would always rise after being knocked down and attack with unending determination to drive the armored being from what they claimed as their own. As he closed in on the weapon, yet another appeared in his way, muscles rippling underneath its pelt and its teeth glistening with saliva. Its growl was deep and rumbling. The Blood Omen made his own challenge, a guttural snarl leaving his throat as his mannerisms became more and more bestial. It lunged forward, arms outstretched to grapple with its foe. Desrium grabbed one of the four limbs and swung the ape over head, slamming it hard into the ground then spinning about on his heels, batting a nearby monkey away with one of their own. He then threw the creature down which then started howling in pain, its arm broken and hanging at an awkward angle, the limb dislocated at the shoulder. A roar that chilled to the bone left Desrium's metal jaws, ending in a rattling hiss that kept the hesitant of the pack at bay. The injured monkey scrambled to its feet and staggered off into the crowd that glared at the Blood Omen. He pulled the staff from the dirt, having to hold it with both hands due to its length. At the collective hissing and snarling of the monkeys, Desrium let out another roar, this one booming and accompanied with the flaring of his eyes, the sight causing many to jump back with their fangs bared. With that, Desrium started to walk back in the direction of the cliff face, leaving ruby trails in his wake. The rustling of shrubs and bushes filled the void left by his bellow as the pack scattered and took to the trees again...

"I can show you. But you need to lower your restraints" answered the construct of magic and stone...

Andruil eyed the lump concernedly. Eyeing his supplies, he ran through a mental check-list of what he had. Rising to his feet as he shot a wary look at the Wyvern, whose fault it was several of these injuries were there in the first place, the man restrained the urge to make a scolding remark, deciding it was best to focus on the matter at hand. Walking over to Furax, whose rear left leg had a shallow slash along it, he removed the roll of cloth and hide that made up his bedroll, along with some rope. "Don't worry Furax. I'll take care of that in a minute" he said lowly as he patted the horse's neck, a snort coming from the stallion in response, putting on a brave face despite the sting of the wound, apparently knowing others were in worse condition. Wasting no time, Andruil headed back to the dark Dragon, unrolling the bedroll as he went. "I'm going to need you to help me, Aviva. setting that leg straight is going to hurt. But if we don't it'll heal in that shape. It'll make walking awkward for you" said the man as he rolled the cloth part of the bedroll width-ways, drawing his dagger and placing it right in the middle, cutting through the fabric and forming two even pieces of fabric...

The Vindicator considered the suggestion for a few minutes, before raising the staff, the runes along it's length shimmering lightly as the restraints were loosened on the golem, though the barrier around the carriage still remained...

Aviva nodded, remembering well the pain of Arsenic setting her broken bones when they had met. She positioned her forelimb as straight as she could and growled, "No, it's nothing like that, wyvern. Just a broken bone. Go ahead and do what you need to, Andruil. I'm not going to eat you," she added with a touch of humor. "You'd be rather tough and stringy, I imagine."

Nitsunobue nodded. Well, that's good at least. He stomped away from the dragon and rose up as high as he could on his wings and legs.

The wyvern continued his vigil, glancing about and sniffing the air for a potential threat.....

Desrium found holding the staff strange as he walked, its shape and weight completely different to that of his blade. The way he held it, with both hands supporting either end was also vastly different to that of his sword. It was such a simple weapon even though it was quite well crafted, and yet if felt completely alien to the armored being. Continuing to ponder how such a thing was such an effective tool in combat, Desrium braced against his shoulder plating and walked with his free hand parting the jungle plants.

Staring into the darkness of the hood, the Vindicator soon saw images projected in front of him, though there was nothing casting them other than his own mind. The road and surrounding forest melted away, replaced with an oceanic backdrop. Coral reefs now surrounded him, the wagon was out of sight and so was the golem. Everything was vibrant and lifelike, even the warm, tropical water, which replaced the cool breeze as night began to set on Blackrock. In the coral chamber, where the walls were cast in a white-blue glow, an exposed Mana Well lay. Around it were hooded figures not unlike the golem itself, casting all sorts of magics from their glowing hands. Spirals, pillars and barriers of energy bombarded a figure above the mana well, cast in a grayscale of uncolor when one looked in the direction of the concentration of magic. Tremors shook the place and chunks of coral began to rain into the chamber when 6 gigantic streams of light spread from the floating figure. The energies being used against him were bending to its command, forming a swirling wall of power that flowed straight into the mana well as the steams broadened into breath taking wings that dwarfed it. The edges of the wings splintered and individual pieces started to expand into blades of energy that shot out like fern leaves. Beams of light shot out from the sides of the figure's head as a deafening roar echoed in the water, the orb began pulsating violently and the coral began shattering at an alarming rate, caving in as the area was engulfed in light.

...then, there was darkness and from it, the forest and road returned.

"And tasteless" quipped Andruil with a smirk as he looked up at the Dragon jokingly. "Then there's the metal in my armour. I can't imagine it'd be pleasant having that in your stomach" he added with a chuckle, his eyes shimmering yellow as he let just a portion of his more feral half through, his strength increasing considerably as he held onto the parts of the limb before and after the injury. "Prepare yourself" he warned, giving a couple of seconds warning before he adjusted the limb, pulling the two parts apart slightly as the bony slipped back into position, the lump receding somewhat, the swelling still leaving a mark. The man reached for one half of his former bedroll, unfurling it and placing the centre of it over the wound, rolling one part inwards till it wrapped round and met the centre, rolling it under until it was straight, before wrapping the other end of it over the makeshift bandage, pulling an elk-horn pin, one that was rather thick and long, initially made to support splints and bandages Andruil made for Furax on occasion, from the bandage rolls in the medical supplies, placing it firmly through the tough cloth, making sure the cloth held tightly as he reached for the splints and the rope...

The Vindicator stood silently, considering what he had just seen. This was more than a mental projection. This was a portion of true memory. He recognised it well. The form in which it came was almost identical to that which had been used by his own masters to teach him in the ways of the Council. "...I will speak to my superiors. But we will need more cooperation from your own masters if they wish for this being to be hunted down and destroyed. Aster is a massive place, and we have little knowledge of this being" warned the robed man as he lifted himself onto his horse. "Who do you serve?" he asked...

Aviva gave a low snarl of pain through clenched teeth as the bone was maneuvered into place, causing Arsenic to quickly turn toward her in alarm; her tail whipped once in an automatic reflex, thankfully hitting no one. Zar nuzzled his mate's neck comfortingly, uttering a purr-like growl to get her to relax. Gradually, she did, with the finest of tremors still present in the muscles of her injured limb. She let out a long breath, knowing the worst of it was likely over. "I guess it's true; dealing with broken bones never gets easier," the dragoness growled, tucking her good leg against her chest.

The cliff face met the jungle at a muddy rise in the ground, large vines snaking down and wrapping around anything nearby. A river ran through nearby, its water reddish in color and murky. Boulders from Jiier's earlier activities littered the area, with a few trees snapped and crushed by particularly large ones that rained down. Desrium hauled himself onto one of the large rocks, one that was especially smooth at the top and sat in his meditative post, the staff spread across his lap. He did not intend to make the climb back to the outcrop...

"You will only know us as The Order for now" replied the golem, only its mimicking voice was faltering, as if alternating between more than just the voice of the officer. "And you can trust that we only think of the safety of Aster"

"That looks good, Andruil," Tetto'eko interjected, approaching the group from behind. "If you'd like, I can assist. Mostly painlessly, I assure you," he added with a smile.

Desrium was suddenly hoisted from his position on the rock, rising up to a larger surface a few yards away, until he was level with the draconic visage of Jiier. "Need some help?" the shapeshifter growled before taking off without an answer. In a few seconds, and a few flaps of Jiier's powerful wings, the two were back at the outcropping, Desrium dropped safely at the center while Jiier landed a few feet away.

"Unfortunately not. Still, could be worse. I had a friend once who was part-Demon. he regenerated so fast his bones didn't have time to be set and corrected before they healed. More than once after he'd broken a limb, his comrades, me included, would have to re-break the limb several times just to be able to line it up properly. Suffice to say, he used to curse the Demon that conceived him every time it happened" responded Andruil with a chuckle as he brought the first two splints and tied them firmly to either side of her injured limb, wrapping round them four times before bringing in the other two, wrapping round them until the splints were all firmly held in place and with no danger of shifting. Tying off the rope in a firm knot, he cut the excess rope, which thankfully was still enough to be usable, smiling to the Dragoness. "That should do it. Just try and keep your weight off the limb so it has time to heal." he said as he shifted his gaze to Zar. "I'm afraid there's little I can do for your flank. from the look of it it's rather badly bruised, possibly worse. Hopefully Tetto'eko can help....provided a bird doesn't fart and obscure his view of the stars" he commented, muttering the last bit with a chuckle just as Tetto'eko commented, turning casually as he responded. "That would be useful, Tetto'eko. Some of these wounds will require more than medical skill to heal" he said with a tone of concern as he began to look over Zar's form in search of injuries, noting the gash over his eye...

"I believe you misunderstand, Golem. The Council of Mercutio is not a petty mercenary force to be hired to carry out tasks at every organisation's beck and call, nor is it an assassin's guild that takes on missions from mysterious contractors" warned the Vindicator as he eyed the Golem warily. "We serve the Kingdom of Valenhad. Our missions serve to benefit Aster, but not when those requesting our intervention are so vague they do not even give us an identity by which to investigate"

"Scoff at Astromancy all you wish," Tetto'eko huffed, though his smirk betrayed his amusement, "But the next time you need someone to call down lightning on a mighty horde, don't come crying to me..." He scrutinized Aviva's bruised flank for a moment, humming to himself thoughtfully. "Hmmm... yes, I think I know a way to close your wound, even under the scales as it is, and possibly enhance the healing process..."
