"My pleasure" said Andruil with a smile, before the flutter of feathers broke the moment, Shiryaz landing on Andruil's shoulder, obscuring his view of Vix, much to his annoyance. The bird, however, cared not. crouching, Shiryaz stared Andruil in the eyes, pupils wide, the usual golden orbs consumed by the soul-consuming black holes that were usually specks in the centre. the bird cocked his head for a moment, before turning to stare at Vix, craning his neck to look closer, the bird's strange antics both amusing and unnerving. "Get off me you crazy bird!" said Andruil as he bat the bird over the head, Shiryaz squawking irritably and leaping off his shoulder, landing on his bent knee, using it as a perch, only Andruil's armour preventing the razor sharp talons from slicing into him. the bird's stare was both extremely serious and intense, and oddly quirky. It was as if the bird was amused by the sight of what was going on...

"Mistakes? What mistakes?" questioned Malukh of clan Zekhrun, one of the lesser Clans of the Hueilin. "The Rectifying ritual, for one. That should never have been stopped" growled Thurduunax, the Elders looking amongst themselves uncertainly. "The issue is that the last time we attempted the ritual, the youngling died. the time before that was even worse. We finally decided not to risk it, and ended the ritual" explained Cyndeyrn, a large, white scaled Dragon with long, segmented horns, a muscular build and conch-shell shaped ears attached to his lowermost set of horns, resembling Tanwen and Septimus with that trait. He must've been Septimus' grandfather. the one who chose the runes that had decorated Septimus' arms when he first met him. "That's because The Clans lost their Runemaster before he could take an apprentice" rumbled Thurduunax with a smile. "I take it you were the one who gave Septimus the runes on his arms?" questioned the elder as he eyed Cyndeyrn. "Yes. My name is Cyndeyrn. I am his grandfather, and current Runemaster of the Hueilin" growled the white Dragon, Thurduunax nodding. "Then I will teach you, Cyndeyrn....in the ways of the Runemasters of old. I will teach you the Rectifying ritual...and I shall teach you how to craft the forgotten runes" rumbled the Ancient as he glanced up towards the peak where Septimus and Tanwen stood, catching up. "As of now, I am the Leader of Clan Khulruud. Krognar and Dunaakh will assist me in leading until I have properly adapted to the life amidst my brethren. When next we meet I will be more familiar with what has transpired in the last 13,000 years since I departed" he growled finally, the other Leaders nodding, Cyndeyrn staying behind as they left, walking up to Thurduunax calmly as he glanced out towards the two Dragons on the peak, Thurduunax knowing what Cyndeyrn was about to say...

Vix watched the duo, somehow unable to lose her smile in the face of Shiryaz's antics. She carefully tucked the flower behind one ear to keep it safe, securing the stem under a lock of hair to be sure it wouldn't fall. As Aviva moved behind her, the elf woman leaned forward a bit to ensure that when the dragon stood up, she wouldn't lose her balance and fall backwards. She glanced around to see where Arsenic was, spotting him within moments. Even as she did, she felt the familiar presence in her mind moments before he spoke. 'Good morning, Vix. Pleasant wake-up call?' he teased gently, the warmth of his amusement not enough to disguise the slightly tense nature of his body language. It was only because she'd known him for so long that she even noticed it. "Quite," she replied, glancing at Andruil and trying to ignore the way Arsenic's amusement shone brighter through his mental touch. As he pulled back, she felt his presence recede until she couldn't feel it any more. The slight feeling of being alone afterwards was one she had grown used to, and could easily ignore.

"Listen you stupid buzzard. get off my knee, or you're going in a pot the next time we set camp" said Andruil, Shiryaz continuing to tease the man, cocking his head back and forth, bobbing his head to some rhythm as he taunted Andruil, the man simply sighing. "It's hopeless. Once he sets his mind to something there's no stopping him. Seems now, his mind's set on winning back my attention" explained Andruil as he glanced to Vix...

"My daughter's been suffering since Arashi was driven out. With no one to hate for the damage he's caused, they've turned to the one who was closest to him. Even in spite of her efforts to sway his decisions and keep him from harming the rest of the Hueilin, they still blame her. They accuse her of not doing enough, of not being good enough. Some even go as far as to blame her for Arashi's madness!" growled Cyndeyrn as he looked towards Septimus and Tanwen on the cliff in the distance. Their happiness was clearly visible, even from this distance. The only one Septimus could trust completely, the only one who never held any antagonism towards him, was his mother. and there was no creature in Aster Tanwen cared for more than Septimus. He was all she had left. "And you have done nothing to stop it?" rumbled Thurduunax calmly, his tone curious, though mostly indifferent. "The hatred spread swiftly and cut deeply. Some of the Clan Leaders even share those thoughts. I am but one Dragon. No matter how powerful I am in title, I am still only one. Her friends are many, but her foes outnumber them. And all out of unspent rage" snarled Cyndeyrn, a plume of smoke and white flames pluming from his nostrils for a moment as his anger broke through his calm visage. "Do not worry yourself about them, Cyndeyrn. Go. Be with your daughter and her son. I will see to it these...misconceptions....end" growled Thurduunax calmly, Cyndeyrn looking up at the Ancient, nodding thankfully, before leaping into the air, heading towards the two Dragons...

The citizens began to wisper amongst themselves, not knowing what to do to get this... thing out of here. It sounded friendly, yes, but that smile... that smile... it sent shivers down their spines. A few young children even began crying...

" Gifts you say?" A voice called out from way back in the crowd. At once, the crowd managed to move out of the way just in time for Byakuren to make her way through, the mage seemingly perplexed by this odd creature before her. Was it a Nue?... no, the scent was all wrong, and whiel she did feel the craziness emminating from Discord, it certainly wasn't ill bearings, as far as she could tell. "What is your name, and what kind of gifts would you like?" Byakuren asked, causing more murmers to spread amongst the crowd. Perhaps, if this tchimera-like thing got what it wanted, then it would leave in peace, and she wouldn't have to drive it out...

Meanwhile, Dione was sitting up next to the locked door in the catacombs, where th eonly light was. She had been down here for the past 2 days, with very little food and water, those bein gprovided by the guards. At least, there were restrooms placed down here, which made sense, considering these catacombs also served as prisons, especially before Thems-

SCRRRAP

Dione jerked her head up. Was there someone else down here as well? The sound, though very, very faint, was definitely hearable...

Discord perked up at the request. He certainly hadn't expected anyone to actually follow through with his prank. His mouth split into a massive grin at the thought of how deliciously unexpected it had been. "Why, my good lady, I am Discord, Chaos Incarnate! I mean, if you prefer the title, of course. I don't, personally. Too formal. Anyway, I suppose there's many, many things I could ask for, aren't there?" Discord stroked his goatee thoughtfully, then smiled. "Ah, I know! I demand... a virgin sacrifice!" Upon this request, his voice regained its booming quality, accompanied by thunder and lightning emanating from the suddenly dark clouds above. He laughed maniacally for a moment, before the entire spectacle faded as quickly as it had appeared, Discord frowning thoughtfully. "Er... do you guys still do stuff like that?"

Draco approached the main gates of Freyr-Lunge. They were certainly an improvement over how they looked after the seige, but not anywhere near as menacing and powerful they appeared to be at the beginning of the intense battle. Overseeing their reconstruction was one of the captains. The one who attacked the armored demon, in fact. The king of Draxon approached the man and placed a firm hand on his shoulder. Startled, the captain turned around with swift reflexes, but calemd down as soon as he saw Draco.

"Please, don't do that," the captain said in his deep, gutteral voice.

"Forgive me, Mercer," Draco replied apologetically, "I have a question for you."

"I'm listening, my liege," the captain replied in his usual monotone voice.

"Have the troops from Snowmourne and Frostbane arrived as of yet?"

"No, my king," the captain grumbled. "It is a four days' march from Snowmourne, and a three cday one from Frostbane. We just barely sent our messenger a day ago. It may be a while before they arrive here.'

"I see," Draco said in a slightly disappointed voice. "In the meantime, keep a sharp vigil over the gate's reconstruction."

"I live to serve," The captain replied, sarcasm dripping in his voice.

Draco chuckled and headed towards the barracks....

Vix chuckled, watching the bird with an amused expression. "Perhaps you'd better give him what he wants then," she teased gently. "Else we could be here all day." Behind her, she felt Aviva get slowly to her feet. The black dragoness limped down to the lake shore, crouching to dip her muzzle into the water. After a few mouthfuls, she lowered her entire head into the water for a few seconds before rising to her full height. Most of the water ran down her neck in miniature streams, slipping between her scales and clinging to them in tiny droplets that glittered, gemlike, in the light.

Sighing, Andruil shifted as he stood, Shiryaz hopping off his knee and landing on the ground, looking up at him. "One of these days I'm going to end up roasting him" grumbled the man as he eyed the bird, whose intelligent stare seemed almost mocking. leaping off the ground, the bird took flight, landing in a nearby tree. "Great. Once the mood's ruined THEN he leaves" he added, raising his hands in exasperation. "Well....I suppose we should really be moving. Ready to head into the mountains?" he asked as he glanced at Vix, then around at the others...

Septimus meanwhile, seemed content to just stand there beside his mother, just soaking in the atmosphere. How he missed it all. "What did you find out there?" asked Tanwen calmly as she eyed her son, noting the seemingly distant look in his eyes. "Friends.....enemies....massive cities by elves and men...And so much knowledge. I've only just scratched the surface of what's out there" growled Septimus, Tanwen eyeing him concernedly. Before she could press the matter and learn more, she caught sight of her father flying towards them. The older Hueilin's smile was obvious as he closed in, landing serenely on the cliff from which Septimus surveyed the beautiful valley. "Septimus! You're back!" he growled as he approached curling his thick neck around the younger Dragon's briefly before stepping back to marvel at the changes. "My how you've grown. It seems Thurduunax did a much better job than I ever could with your runes. How'd they work out for you anyway?" inquired the Maelgwyn Clan Leader as he looked over his Grandson's form happily. "They were excellent. Saved my life a couple of times. Even Thurduunax was impressed. And from what I've seen, that's rather hard to manage" responded Septimus with a smile, the joy in his expression unmistakable. "Wow. Glad to know I did SOMETHING right" responded Cyndeyrn with a laugh. Tanwen smiled as she watched, this being the first true sense of joy she had seen in her family in months. "Your grandmother will be happy to see you home. I'm sure of it...Well, if she's not too busy grumbling about those two missing Maldevians. Old bat won't let anything go" grumbled Cyndeyrn, Tanwen eyeing him in mild surprise as Septimus laughed. "You actually nicked her Maldevians without her noticing?" growled Tanwen with a light giggle, Cyndeyrn nodding with a smirk. "Well, where else was I supposed to get them on such short notice? With the rush I had to get them from the closest source. So I borrowed a few of hers and swapped them with a few more later. Still have no idea how she figured out they were different" growled the White Male, one of his scaly brows curved quizzically, the Dragon genuinely baffled. "Well maybe I should p-"started Septimus, being cut off by the older male with a laugh. "Heavens no! If you put them back now she'd get suspicious. I've only just managed to convince her they may have slithered off towards the Well" he growled. "How'd you explain the replacements?" growled Tanwen amusedly. "Well, Stand-ins of course" responded her father with a smirk, Septimus laughing. "Stand-ins?!" reacted Septimus and Tanwen, almost simultaniously, Cyndeyrn chuckling. "Of course! This is Elwen we're talking about, remember. Our logic doesn't really apply with her. She's convinced they're as intelligent as we are. The way she'd been mauling them with attention would make sense for them to try and get away and fool her. At least, if you're her" growled Cyndeyrn with a shrug. Septimus chuckled in amusement at the insanity of it all, while Tanwen shook her head. "And you wonder why she's a grouch around you. I'd bet she already knows and is thinking of ways to have them attack you in the middle of the night" growled the female half-jokingly. giving her a thoughtful look for a moment, he responded "You see, I don't think so. After the one time she put a slug over one of my eyes and saw it pop into a cloud of colourful dust, I think she crossed off pranks involving her pets from the list". Septimus couldn't help himself, laughing at the mental image of the incident and his grandmother's most likely reaction to it all, Tanwen sighing with a smirk as she shook her head. "You're awful dad, you know that?" she growled, Cyndeyrn responding with a slightly-too-eager nod, leaving his daughter giggling. In the distance, Thurduunax watched on with a smile. For all their problems, they were a happy family. And sometimes, that was all one needed...

Byakuren shook her head. "Virgin sacrifices are no longer a tradition here. Such things are but extinct here. This is a more civilized period of time, Discord... How about a more appropriate and humane gift?" Was her reply. Judging from his rather impressive display of power, it seemed like Discord was definitely a notch above what she was used to taking down...

"Appropriate?" Discord replied, acting offended. "My dear, I am ANYTHING but appropriate! But, then again, this is a civilized town," he added, sounding disgusted with the word "civilized." After a moment, the chimera stared at Byakuren curiously. "And who are you to make such bold demands, hm? You the boss around here?"

Nitsunobue overheard Andruil, giving a quick nod in his direction as he got to his feet after admiring the forest from this beautiful clearing. The wyvern stomped over towards Andruil, ready to get going whenever the others were ready...

"I am Byakuren, and I specialize in demon extermination. I have travelled across portions of Aster, settling disputes and confrontations between humans and demons, and as I see it, you are causing such a thing." Byakuren stated, her voice being filled with authority, a stern look across her face. "Within a few hours, aspecial event is to take place, and the Emperor doesn't want anything, be it human or demon, causing any problems. Unless you either leave now or swear to behave yourself in this city, Discord, the Emperor AND the church will not hesitate to unleash armageddon upon you." Of course, she was telling the partial truth. She had been told that there was going to be a special execution today, and that the Church officials wouldn't tolerate anything interrupting it. As for her being in charge here... that was a diffrent matter entirely...

From a place nearby, Trajan was watching the whole show, and nodded in agreement with what Byakuren said...

Discord stared at Byakuren for a few moments, his face blank. Suddenly, he exploded into a raucous guffaw straight in the demon hunter's face. He fell on his back, in hysterics, and it took a short while for him to regain control of himself. Wiping a tear from his eye, Discord giggled, "Me? A demon? Really? That's what you think? Tell me, Bya-whatever, do I LOOK like any demon you've seen?"

Jiier moved swiftly through the air, though not at top speed. With Desrium on his back, the dragon did not dare go any faster, lest the armored being fall off. Despite this, they were making good time, or at least Jiier thought they were. Without knowing just how far their destination was, he couldn't say for certain, but they were already in parts of the land Jiier was mostly unfamiliar with. After settling in the cave, the dragon never ventured far from the canyon, and it had been his way of life for over a hundred years. Much had changed since then, that much he could see.

The thick cover that obscured the lowlands transitioned to the familiar plains that stretched for miles in seemingly all directions. Behind the dragon and armored being, the craggy cliffs and jungle were silhouettes amidst a hanging fog. In the distance ahead, the defined shapes of a mountain range. Somewhere out in the winding flatland was Daaven and the best hope for finding it was one of the major roads that ran through the city gates. However, Daaven was far from the only settlement located on the plains...many other cities had grown over time and many small towns and villages had appeared along side the meandering rivers and streams that flowed across the grassland. It was very likely the very first city the two came across wouldn't be the one they expected...

"ready as I'll ever be," Vix said with a shrug, watching Shiryaz and resisting the urge to laugh before turning to look at Zar. She was in time to see Aviva nudging him awake. The red dragon lifted his head, blinking coal-black eyes, and was soon on his feet. Beyond the two Extraxl, Arsenic was stretching, stiff joints cracking loudly, getting ready to resume their trek.

"In that case, let's get moving" said Andruil as he reached a hand down to Vix to help her to her feet, Furax rising from his spot by the tree and walking over to him...

"I'll need to leave soon" growled Septimus as he eyed his mother and grandfather, the two older Dragons looking at him quizzically. "Whatever for?" questioned Cyndeyrn, Septimus sighing. "There's knowledge out there. Knowledge outside the realms we usually study. There's so much of it out there We could never dream of catching up to the mortal races. As much as I love being home...There's still so much more to learn. It would do so much for us if we had that knowledge" he growled. "Is that so?" growled Cyndeyrn interestedly, though somewhat sceptical. "The millennia of isolation have caused us to fall behind. We may have been advanced compared to the rest of the world before. But not anymore" responded Septimus sincerely, though his tone held something else beneath the surface. "And it has to be you?" inquired Tanwen, obviously not wanting her son to leave again. "I'm the one who knows the world out there best...well, perhaps with the exception of Thurduunax. But his information is out of date. I have friends out there, acquaintences, and I know how things are now. I'd be able to gather information more easily" he answered. "And....and there's also the chance I could run into other Exiles...ones Arashi banished. I could bring them home" he added, Tanwen raising her brows in surprise. "Wouldn't you be more concerned about them attacking you? Some of them WERE banished because of Arashi's notion of protectiveness, afterall" growled Cyndeyrn. "All the more reason for me to go and not someone else. It's partially my fault many of them were banished. I need to make up for it" explained Septimus. Tanwen shook her head. "It wasn't your fault, Septimus. It was Arashi's. You're not to blame" she growled, an amusing switch of position from what had transpired between her and her son within the last hour. "I know, but it still lingers over my conscience. The only way I'll be able to rest peacefully is if I'm doing something to fix it. Arashi definitely won't. And I plan to go out there anyway. So it's only right that I try and find them" he responded, Tanwen ans Cyndeyrn nodding, understanding. "....When...when do you plan to leave?" questioned Tanwen, saddened in spite of the fact she knew it was what her son wished. "This evening. When the sun goes down" he growled. "You will return from time to time" rumbled Cyndeyrn firmly. It was not a request. Septimus nodded. "As often as I can afford" he growled. "And DON'T let yourself fall into the same trap as Arashi. No amount of power is worth losing your mind over" warned Cyndeyrn. the younger Dragon simply nodded...

"Demons come in many diffrent varieties, Discord, and there are some that no human has ever laid eyes upon. I myself am still not surprised when I come across demons I have never seen or heard about before... like you." Byakuren replied. Discord's response wasn't unusual, and because of a certain detail that Byakuren herself didn't like to metnion.. the term Demon was mroe or less an umbrella term that was used to describe any supernatural entity that couldn't otherwise be explained. It was a wastebasket in other words. If something showed up that couldn't be defined as an animal, then it was automatically labelled as a demon, wherever it was a horned giant, or a creature from the underworld. As much as she would perfer to have that kind of mislabeling stopped, it made things simple for her....

Discord stood up on his hind legs after a few moments, staring down at Byakuren with a smirk. "Yes, well, I'm afraid you are mistaken on this one. No need to feel bad; it's a common misconception. Still, I am far more than some 'Demon,' trust me..." He leaned down to stare the woman right in the eye. "Oh, and what was that about some little... special event you mentioned? Sounds fun. Maybe I'll attend. Unless, of course, you insist on trying to stop me from doing so..." As he spoke, Discord's voice took on an ever-so-slightly dark undertone, though, his smile remained...

Tetto'eko turned to join the rest of the group. "I agree. I feel we are still being followed by that Hellhound from before, and I think we'll be safer inside a Dwarven hold than we will out here..."

"If you must know, there's an execution that's going to be taking place in a few hours... If you want to see it, then you must behave yourself, or you will find yourself facing a situation you would rather not be in." Byakuren stated, staring right back at Discord. If he truly was the Chaos entity that he said, then no doubt he'd try something fishy... if that were the case, then she'd be certain to straighten him out if he tried...
