"The attempt shall be made" Desrium said as he let himself off of Jiier and crossed the short distance to the stall. Across its counter's width was a long silver case with a refined glass display window edged with gold. Inside was an expensive assortment of merchandise that the armored being saw no value in. To him, they were simply good looking distractions without any other purpose. If he wasn't so attached to it, he would have attempted to trade Syria's compass for the map, assuming it had much more value than a simple chain or bracelet.

Behind the counter was a storage of more diverse items. Cured meats, herbs, parchments and quills were all visible, the meats hanging from above the counter, the herbs packed into small glass containers and the feathered quills and parchment bound together by string. Other, larger documents were rolled up and stuck into a pouch hanging off the rear wall. Desrium hoped that one of them was what he desired. "Hello. Do you have a map of Aster available?" he asked in his quiet monotone.

The vendor nodded.

"Of course, sir." the vendor stepped away form the front of his stall, before he reached into a small container below the visible counter. From it, he pulled out a map, bound together with a thin strand of leather.

"Here you go," the man said. "That'll be one silver peice."

Desrium took the map in one hand, the sleeve of the robe almost covering it entirely. He looked from the bound paper to the merchant and then back to the map before taking one last look at the man and said "Money is trivial considering the matters at hand. The map is needed so a friend and I can warn your fellow Asterians of a great danger"

"Oh, of course," teh vendor replied sarcastically. "Because I can afford to give things away for free. It's not like I have a family to feed or anything!"

"Your contribution is appreciated" replied the Blood Omen, disregarding the merchant's protests. With that, he turned and began to walk back to Jiier, their time in Grymhaven coming to a close.

"Do you think it wise to travel so late?" Jiier growled as soon as Desrium approached, assuming that everything had gone well with the vendor, and thus wanted to move onto more pressing issues. The dragon was far from afraid of whatever creatures might lurk at night, but unnecessary danger was unnecessary danger, and he did not want to tap into his power if he could avoid it.

"Septimus and I have not been attacked when we have flown through the night before, so I have no negative experiences to speak of. The only incident I recall was when Chromatus decided to follow us and even then he was not openly hostile" Desrium replied once he stood beside the maned dragon. "Shall we go?" he asked, not taking it upon himself to return to his place on the dragon's back

'Lead the way when you're ready,' Arsenic said, getting up and stretching. Vix spun a dagger in her hand and tested the blade's sharpness with her thumb before sheathing it.

"And where are we going?" Jiier asked, wondering, now that Desrium had the map, if they would continue to their original destination or not.

Desrium undid the leather binding and unrolled the map. He then held it before himself and Jiier, allowing them both to look at it. A string of Draxonian towns and cities were nearby, while Daaven was still a considerable distance east in the expansive grassland. The Blood Omen scanned the map for a potential destination while allowing his draconic companion to do the same.

"There," Jiier growled, pointing at a city far north with a claw. "We can start there and work our way down along the east coast," the dragon explained, figuring some organized effort was required.

"We should be sure to keep stories for Septimus. He would find our travels most interesting" Desrium said, rolling up the map and waiting for Jiier to allow him onto his back.

"I think he'd appreciate that," Jiier growled as he lowered himself considerably so Desrium could return to his back.

Without another word, Desrium climbed back onto Jiier and took his place just behind the maned dragon's shoulders. He retied the map's leather strap and then slipped it into the sleeve of his robe, it seemingly disappearing like the shape-shifter's staff. Afterwards, he secured his grip and prepared for Jiier's flight.

With one giant flap of his unfurled wings, the dragon took off into the sky, figuring out which direction was which before heading off toward their decided destination...

And so the Blood Omen soared with his friend through the night sky with only the hours ahead separating them from the tundra. That was quite alright however, for both the armored being and the dragon had nothing but time, and as such were not defined by it; be it by centuries or millennia. Even so, sometimes the wonders of the world can only be seen in the context of time, such as the stars themselves. As Desrium watched the countless specks over the course of the night, he would notice one stationary point that the others seem to dance around. The north star: the celestial guide when dusk fell upon the continent...

" um, yes, what what exactly is coming?" Trajan asked Byakuren.

The mage shook her head. "What's coming is ahrdly a friend at all, but a terrifying beast, a dragon that I dealt with 15 years ago.Trajan, i reccomend that you order everyone in the city to evacuate as fast they ca-"

"Sir, the light is heading away from us now!" The dragonrider reported in. This caught Byakuren by surprise. Quickly, she leapt back ontop of the roof, and sure enough, the approaching being had turned off elsewhere, and was flying off in a diffrent direction. This prompted Byakuren to breath a sigh of relief. Why had Smaug suddenly changed directions? Maybe he had picked up the scent of Discord, and not feeling comftorable with it, had headed elsewhere... It made no sense... but, atleast for now, conflict was avoided for a little while longer...

After a period of fast flight, Septimus slowed down, the coast now within sight, his destination just beyond. Once he had passed the shallow area of the coastline and reached the shelf beyond which he knew Zuppoland lay, the Dragon descended until he was almost skimming the surface of the water, before pulling his wings in tightly, streamlining his body and dipping downwards, plunging into the water like an organic missile, plunging just over a 30 feet downwards before spreading his wings slightly, holding them against his form like fins as he rippled his fin-tipped tail, launching himself downwards towards the bottom, the shimmering dome of Zuppoland visible in the distance, the massive, striped, multi-coloured conch within shimmering impressively. With a bit of luck, he would have no need to enter...

And indeed, he didn't. Before he could get within a hundred yards of the underwater metropolis, no fewer than 10 Zuppolandian Guards, all riding what looked to be Sea Dragons, lined up before him. The guards had gained the visible fish-like features, gills along their jaw lines flaring with their breathing, their needle-like teeth showing as they snarled at him, their lower limbs completely covered in silvery scales, which Septimus had no doubt would join to form a tail were they not separated by their draconic mounts, the Sea Serpents having long, serpentine necks, their heads looking distinctly barracuda-like, though having the obvious intelligent gaze Dragons were known for, their scaled brows extending from just behind their narrow, slitted nostrils, past the eyes and forming small, slightly inwards curved horns. their four limbs seemed a blend between fin and leg, large spreads of webbing linking the fingers and spreading through bony extensions, forming a flipper-like shape. Their tails were webbed along the sides, spreading as the tail tapered and ending in a large, point-tipped chevron shape, too angular to really fit the description of a crescent, the tail looking distinctly like that of a Great White Shark's. Seeing the line up of soldiers, Septimus spread his wings, the wingspan easily reaching out as far to the sides as the entire group, the patterns decorating the ventral surface of the wing seeming to morph and pulsate as Septimus' eyes glowed. "You need not fear me, Guardians of Zuppoland. I am no stranger. I have simply changed since last we met" echoed Septimus' voice in their minds, the group calming slightly, though still wary. "I came here for an answer to a simple question. I do not know the writing of your kind, and am faced with a bit of an....inconvenience" rumbled the Dragon, as the image of Desrium's message on the wall flashed in their minds vividly, the Zuppolandians immediately reading and interpreting it subconsciously. breaking his focus from all but one of the soldiers, Septimus again spoke. "As you can see, I am faced with troubles because I do not know how your language is written...With your permission, I'd wish to learn it from you" he growled, eyeing the soldier, who looked at the Dragon confusedly. "But something like that would take years to learn" responded the guard. Smiling, The Hueilin shook his head. "I do not learn as you do, friend. Reading the knowledge of your language from your own mind would take moments for me...if you'd be willing to allow me" responded Septimus. Thinking for several moments over the decision, the guard finally agreed, before turning to the others and ordering they stand down. Thankful, Septimus furled his wings, his eyes closing as he focused. In seconds, the guard felt the intrusion on his own thoughts, as gentle as they were. It worried him that he had difficulty discerning what was his own train of thought and what was the Dragon's probing, the difference so slight he could barely notice it. decades of experience and practice in the Zuppolandian tongue, both spoken and written, flowed through the merman's mind, before it halted, as suddenly as it started. Opening his eyes, Septimus looked at the group with new-found understanding, the knowledge registering. Bowing thankfully, the Dragon smiled. "Should you see your King, inform him that Septimus thanks him and his people for their tolerance.....I pray we meet again some day. May the Eternal Conch watch over you" he growled, using the Zuppolandian farewell as he turned to leave. The Guardians were left watching, very much bewildered at the oddity of the encounter, though settling to rack it up to the incident two days prior, and the repercussions it had had...

Andruil nodded. "In that case, let's go" he said as he turned and headed out the door, noting the increasing noise below. As he descended the stairs, he came across the source. a large congregation of Dwarves were collected in the main hall of the inn, some singing, others drinking themselves into a stupor, yet others amidst a drunken brawl. As he cleared the stairs he nearly ran into the innkeeper, who had no less than 8 mugs full of Dwarven ale in hand. "What's going on?" he asked. "Eh, random party. If there's one thing that all foreigners soon learn, it's that we Dwarves are as spontaneous and unpredictable as we are short. We have Goblins and Cave Crocodiles and who knows what else plaguing our mines, and yet half the barracks is here drinking themselves out of their mind! Oh, here, have some Ale!" said the innkeeper, finally shoving several of the mugs into Andruil's hands before continuing onwards into the drunken crowd, disappearing amidst the many short denizens of the inn. raising a brow, perhaps a little bit too surprised by the scene, Andruil looked over his shoulder at Arsenic and Vix...

Zazikel did not hesitate to fly off as well, his interest focused on the amulet for now...

"Well, that was interesting," Discord remarked. "So, about that execution..."

Arsenic smirked, giving a mental chuckle. 'Careful, your eyes might fall out if you keep them that wide,' he teased. Vix eyed the innkeeper curiously for a moment before looking back at Andruil, shrugging, and stating with a small smile, "Yep. Definitely feels like home."
