Desrium lifted himself up from the silt, having been embedded into the seafloor at the island's base. Even after a blow such as that, the Blood Omen was still able to pick himself up, the robe wafting and drifting around his metal form. He felt violent tremors traveling through the submerged ground, unable to tell whether the beast was advancing further or was heading back out to sea. The quakes had caused clouds of sand to swirl into formation. Shadowed rings spread out all around him, the ocean visibly rippling like a lowly puddle as the dull gray light of the day shined down on the armored being, though with the spreading silt that was no longer the case. Settling into a sitting position, the Blood Omen returned to his meditation, not to call upon his empowered state, but to return to the surface.

With the dawn sun washing against his scaled hide and the cool early morning breeze, Septimus glided along the Eastern Asterian coastline, just a couple of miles off shore, the Dragon heading towards the city of Daaven. the calls of seagulls could be heard below as fishing boats from coastal towns and villages sailed out to gather the food that would feed the community today. The sight below was serene, completely free of the troubles of the world. No one could guess, looking down at the world from up here, that danger lurked everywhere, and that their very existence could well be at stake. The Dragon looked onwards into the distance, at the many specks dotting the Asterian landscape, cities and towns of various sizes. He knew that he would have to leave the coastline soon and travel inland towards the city of Daaven, but for now, he felt there was no rush. feeling a pang of hunger, the Dragon began to descend towards the water's surface, intent on catching himself a decent meal before he travelled inland...

Andruil was quick to rise that morning, washing his face briefly with a small jug of water and a towel, before heading off towards the Gryphonners. He needed to prepare their transport for the journey back, and then head to the stables to have Furax sent home. walking down to the main hall of the inn, he spotted a few of the Dwarves sleeping in chairs around the chamber, though most had managed to stumble home to sleep, a fact that surprised Andruil considering the amount of ale and mead they had undoubtedly consumed. walking out the door, he made his way towards the stables, knowing that the Gryphon stables would be close by...

Three black-robed men arrived in a small fishing village somewhere along the coast of Aster, each riding a large Gryphon, the creatures armoured with black, ornate plates, covering their limbs and the crown of their heads, protecting them from injury. the three riders landed at the village's entrance, the Gryphons slowing to a walk as they entered, the centre Gryphon carrying a man whose black cloak was decorated with fine silver trim, or what looked like silver. close inspection would reveal that runes decorated the entire cloak and seemed to shimmer at certain angles, somewhat like silk. the front of the cloak's hood nearly completely hid the man's face, though ice blue eyes were visible within. the cloak was held on by a silver chain crossing the man's chest, which was protected with dark steel plate armour, intricate runic patterns decorating the edges of the larger plates. in the centre of the chest, a downwards pointing longsword beneath a crown, with two crossed staves, decorated with intricate Celtic-knot styled tips shimmered against the darker backdrop. the emblem of the Council of Mercutio. In a sheath attached to the Gryphon's saddle lay a long gripped spear-like sword, on the end of which was a glowing gem of multiple colours, wrapped in thick silver, forming a Celtic knot pattern similar to those depicted on the emblem. To either side of the Archknight were a pair of Vindicators. each was cloaked in similar robes to the knight's, though lacking the intricate silk-like patterning and wearing lighter looking armour. they each carried a staff and a sword, and were obviously mages of considerable power, their eyes shimmering with a slight glow...

As soon as Desrium returned to his meditation, the enormous head and neck of the Doomfang appeared from the murky depths. The beast's "whiskers" wrapped around the armored being, yanking him toward it until he floated a few feet from the horn on its nose, which was larger than the armored being himself. "I should wipe you, your friend, and this miserable collection of miscreants from the face of this world," the beast hissed, though its mouth did not move. The sound was as if the sea itself was speaking to the armored being. "The glory of Soel is lost on you all. This place is damned, it has been from the beginning," it continued, its glowing blue eyes staring into Desrium's own red ones, feeling as if the creature could see what Desrium really was, and more.

The Blood Omen, unable to speak, simply stared into the giant blue eyes of the beast. He did not struggle, he did not resist, knowing that such efforts were futile. He simply eyed the giant, not understanding what it was that had the Doomfang so irritated. Rather, he simply took in the beast's features, ingraining them into his memory for when he told the Hueilin of his encounter...

"You are a disgraceful little...thing," the Doomfang continued, tempted to end the armored being's existence right then and there, but calmed itself. "Your goal is impossible. You will understand this in time, but by then it will be far too late," it boomed without ever moving its jaws, the "whiskers" releasing Desrium, shoving him back toward the base of the island. "But I won't be here for the end," the Doomfang concluded as its gargantuan body disappeared into the murky depths.

Desrium drifted back into the scattered sand and silt, the armored being lost sight of the gargantuan Doomfang, the low light and clouded water masking its huge form as it left. In time, the seabed settled again and the Blood Omen was sitting as he was moments before, drifting into the confines of his mind and in turn ascending back to the world above...

As Desrium resurfaced, Jiier was standing at the edge of the surviving ice. With a clawed hand, Jiier reached over to the armored being and pulled him onto the ice. "That was quite the hit you took..." he growled, having already dispelled the summoned energy and returned to his normal draconic form...

Returning to his normal being, Desrium turned away from his friend and opened his mouth. Pouring from his jaws, water splashed onto the snow, along with gravel from the seabed and a small mollusk, its spiraled shell plopping into the slushy mix. Four small legs popped out from the shell and the tiny creature scrambled along the snow and ice before tossing itself into the water. When that was done, Desrium quoted the guard: "We did not know what were dealing with"

"No kidding..." Jiier growled with a frown, looking out at the ruined ice field that was the ocean. "But considering the circumstances, I think that went rather well."

"It did. We should go back and let the city know we still live and that they are now free of the Doomfang" Desrium replied, looking to his friend and waiting for the dragon to let him climb onto his back once again.

Jiier lowered himself slightly, and when Desrium was safely on his back, the dragon took off into the blizzard that still raged around them. Their progress was slower than when they arrived due to the storm, but in time the two were back in the confines of the city. Many of the vikings milling about outside had retreated to their homes, but there were others who continued on with their daily routine, as if the blinding snow did not effect them in the slightest. Under the cover of the blizzard, Jiier changed back into his simian form once Desrium was off his back.

The armored being began the trip back to the Great Hall, ice taking its hold on his robed form, except for his joints where he his movements alone broke the frost before it could hinder him. He walked up to the entrance and pushed it open, a gust of cold wind following him into the otherwise warm building.

Things were fairly quiet at the gryphon stable. A well-groomed peregrine-lynx mix trotted around the perimeter of the main paddock, swerving away from the fence only long enough to bypass the other beasts who happened to be standing in his path. One of those was a large, muscular, handsome-looking hippogriff, who ignored the other creatures around him as he nonchalantly lowered his wickedly curved beak to pluck at one of about half a dozen dead rabbits that had been strung up along the fence for the flock's benefit, the row of furry bodies ending with what looked like the headless corpse of an unfortunate cat. Four more gryphons were also milling around the fence, and several more were visible scattered around the paddock and inside the stable itself, all looking relatively calm and content to be where they were... unlike the one troublesome creature that had once again escaped. Quite suddenly, the big hippogriff's head rose, a severed piece of meat hanging from his beak as he turned to gaze a short distance down the road in the direction of another nearby stable. Several other feathered heads popped up in interest or mild alarm when the braying of frightened horses reached their pricked ears...

In the paddock behind the more conventional stable, panicked horses reared, bolted, and even kicked out at the glossy black and white mixed-breed who romped among them, the gryphon rearing, stomping, tossing her head and cawing loudly, mimicking the equines' motions and looking for all the world like she was having the time of her life, always staying just out of reach of the larger animals' lashing hooves...

As the two entered, the vikings at first didn't seem to notice. But after a few glanced up and saw who, exactly, came in, many jumped to their feet in surprise. The bearded fellow they met earlier was the first to approach. "You two made it back alive! I don't see the statue so...?" the man trailed off expectantly.

Dhoulmagus, having long been placed in his den up in the Draxon mountains, awaited Zazikel's call, as he pondered his next moves.....

Draco and Zazikel had long returned to Draxon...

"It is gone. So is the Doomfang" Desrium answered simply, seeing no need to delve into the behemoth's parting words...

Discord had decided to stay the night in Tristan as well, if only because the city was an absolute hotbed of chaos at the moment. His serpentine form twisted and corkscrewed through the air above Trajan and his friends, rolling his eyes at Dione and sticking his forked tongue out in mock disgust. "Ugh, you religious types are always so boring, you know that?"

Dione turned her head up and raised an eyebrow at Discord, but at once, a sound that mirrored that of a hurricane blasted through the area, and from the direction of the great forest, they could see the writhing, flaming figure of the great dragon Smaug coming in fast, the flames churning from his mouth having been the source of the light seen last evening. Everyone readied themselves, knowing that what was to come wouldn't be pretty in the slightest...

Welden soared over the hills and forests in hills, as the Draconian continues on his journey to Draxon. As the blind One had said the country of Draxon would most likely be kind to him for being of Dragon descent. Propelling himself into a rising air current Welden glides, resting his wings on the incoming wind. Thinking back to the reason for his travel the Draconian knew something had caused his aggression but he could not remember why he did it. Whenever he tried to delve into it deeper his memory would fade and within its place would be darkness. Frustrated, Welden continued to assault the question with answers, still coming to the same result. Welden growls in annoyance as the dark cloud settled back into his brain where the knowledge behind his recent attacks lied. He could not penetrate it even when he tried his hardest, it would evade his thoughts as if it were a deer escaping its hunter. Welden eventually extinguishes the fight for this answer and instead focus's on his journey knowing that Draxon would soon approach and he would finally get to the bottom of this behavior...
