"...Then they treat half-beasts as royalty. How...backwards" Desrium concluded as the peaks of mountains passed below him, wisps of powder blowing off the rock faces. They reminded him of the snowy landscape surrounding Vanguard. "I am glad to say our next destination did not suffer from such delusions" the Blood Omen said, preparing to share his account of the frozen north...

Tetto'eko gingerly patted Surlana on her beaked snout, smiling warmly. "A curious one, aren't you?"

Zazikel turned to stare curiously at Arashi as he shifted back into his true draconic form. "And who might you be?" he inquired...

"This creature is called 'Arashi', and that's all you need to know," the voice hissed, once again annoyed at this fruitless behavior. "You have skills that set you above the rest of your pathetic kind. Your ambitions are of interest to me as well. I offer you what I offered this one; power, in exchange for undying servitude," it explained to Arashi, its irritation lessening somewhat.

Arashi smiled, liking the sound of this deal. "An interesting proposition. However, what would 'undying servitude' entail?" he rumbled...

"Indeed" rumbled Septimus. "So tell me...what was your next destination?" he inquired...

"The power I will bestow upon you will also bind you to my will. It will tear you apart if you even consider treachery," the voice warned ominously. "But you will evolve beyond all of these miserable gnats as a result."

"An island amidst frozen ocean. Vanguard was its name; and in its one city Jiier and I encountered a people once confined. They were pleasant to be around" responded the armored being. He was starting to consider even mentioning the encounter with the Doomfang, turning his gaze to the golden maned dragon as he did.

"...I do," Vix murmured, looking away as warmth rushed to her face. "I'm just..." In her mind, a young girl's high, shaking voice whispered, Scared, finishing her thought. mama, are you...there?

Arashi considered the offer, though was considerably put off by the downside. "And if I were to decline?" he asked calmly...

"I see. Why were they confined?" asked Septimus, cocking his head curiously as he flew between the mountains, the clouds floating just above them...

"Then you are no further use to me," the voice hissed simply, not showing any change in emotion.

Jiier returned the glance and shrugged, not seeing why the incident in the far north needed to be a secret.

Desrium turned his sights back on Septimus, continuing to tell him of the events in Vanguard. "After we visited the city's gathering hall, we were shown a statue that the people acquired a century prior. A guard told us that it was given to them by a strange people from far off lands and ever since then they were the targets of the Doomfang; a gigantic creature of the sea that refused to let ships leave the island. We returned the statue to it and it left Vanguard and its people" Desrium explained, again leaving out several details, though some of them were details not even Jiier knew...

Henric was still holding Myrn steady, though, he realized, he had little need to at this point. She had gone from uncooperative to oddly quiet, not having objected in the slightest when the pack was strapped to her back, and now simply standing stock still, head held low, the end of her striped tail brushing the ground. The dwarf reached out a hand to stroke her ebony neck, but was mildly surprised when she simply turned away, staring at a point a ways down the dirt road. Sulrana on the other hand, seemed to enjoy getting attention, the gryphon's ears twitching as she lightly nudged her beak into the skink's hand, taking in the new, interesting scent...

Tetto'eko chuckled and continued to stroke the griffon's snout. "Glad to have a pleasant steed," the Skink remarked. "Far less temperamental than a Terradon..."

Arashi simply nodded. "And I suppose it'd be too wasteful of your time if I were to ask who you were? I have yet to encounter anything of such power as yourself" he inquired, his tone genuinely inquisitive, no hint of sarcasm detectable in his tone, intended or otherwise...

"Interesting" rumbled Septimus, fascinated. this Doomfang was something he had never heard of before, let alone seen. He wondered if there was a possibility it'd be mentioned in one of the books he had on ancient beasts. "What did this Doomfang look like? What did it want with the statue? what happened exactly?"...

Andruil's smile never wavered. "...afraid? I promise I'll keep you safe" said Andruil with a smile. pulling a bit more firmly on Vix's hand, he patted Thalion's flank slightly, down at the base of the neck, by his leg, the Hippogriff kneeling forward slightly to give the girl a firm platform to climb onto to get into the seat...

Vix took a small breath to steel herself before climbing onto the hippogriff's back, keeping a firm grip on Andruil until she felt steady. Sweet Loessa, if I'm this nervous before we're airborne, I might have a heart attack in the air....I need to calm down...

"It was much larger than Chromatus. Its feet alone were larger than Jiier and from them, it towered over the harbor where we encountered it. It had a long neck that held its head in the white of falling snow, its eyes were bluer than the waters of the ocean and its teeth numbered in the..." Desrium paused, exploring his repertoire of numerical expressions, some of the newer concepts he had come across. "Millions," he continued. "Along with those features, it had a horn and many tendrils- whiskers- on its lower jaw, and its body had the tint of the sea, with hues of red and yellow from the coral stuck to its skin"

This was by far, the most descriptive the Blood Omen had been concerning anything, his attention to detail during the incident allowing him to record the memory exactly as it had happened, from the smashing of the icy sheets to the beast's departure.

"I do not know why it wanted the statue. I only know that the Doomfang does not affiliate itself with Aster, and that it knows about the entity we face." he finished saying, the rocky slopes suddenly dipping down into a massive chasm, the edges of which were sharp, craggy rocks stretching over the sheer drop being the threshold to almost complete darkness. Even that complete absence of light wasn't as dark as the twilight the shadowed one could create, as Desrium knew.

The presence seemed to grow slightly more annoyed, but at this point the question was to be expected. "I would be wasting my time if I tried to explain what I am to such an inferior creature," it hissed, the eyes narrowing slightly. "And names are for the petty, who wish to make their mark on a world that moves with or without them. I have no such fear. You and all that you hold dear owe their existence to me already."

Jiier was slightly surprised at the information Desrium presented, specifically that the Doomfang was somehow related to the entity they saw before.

"I see" rumbled Arashi calmly, intrigued with the response, but knowing better than to inquire further. With that, he beat his wings powerfully, beginning to depart. "Then our interaction is concluded. I will leave you to deal with this...Demon...as you will" he growled, arcing round the air and tilting downwards, making his way towards the ground on the edge of the city, deciding it was time he made himself less conspicuous. Perhaps when the ancient was gone, he could pursue his own reasons for being here. Though if the Demon had already been given the offer he had received, there was probably little point...still...having contacts in this land would be useful...if they still existed when he returned...

Septimus was left speechless. Never had he head Desrium be so descriptive. it put into context just how little he knew of the being's capabilities. He knew the Blood Omen's power was impressive...but his intellectual ability was evidently higher than he had initially thought. "So it simply climbed out of the water, talked, took the statue and left? Seems a bit....simple, to me. How did the event unfold?" he asked, eager to exploit his new-found discovery of the depth of Desrium's articulation...

"It gets less unnerving after the first few dozen yards" said Andruil over his shoulder with a smile. Thalion meanwhile was looking over his shoulder at the two, his hawkish gaze unintentionally scrutinising and intense. "I will be sure to recommend you to my associates, master Henric. farewell" he said with a smile to the Dwarf, before giving the Hippogriff a firm kick, Thalion screeching as he took to the air, massive dark red wings beating powerfully as he gained altitude, flying out the massive gates to Strachtmarch city...

"It did not speak. Initially, Jiier and I planned to confront it. The Doomfang dispatched our plan when it took the statue and knocked me through the ice. While in the water, it came and communicated with me, much like how the Unicorn and the shadow-being did during the occurrence at the cave" Desrium stated. "It told me that Aster was doomed and that it would not be around when the end came to pass. It also said that 'The glory of Soel' is lost upon us all. I do not know what a Soel is. It might be related to the statue"

Vix dug her nails into her palms hard as they took off, the dull pain helping to ensure she didn't lose herself to the urge to jump before they were so far above the ground that the fall would kill her if she tried. Calm...stay calm... she willed herself, keeping her gaze firmly fixed on her hands. She took a soft, unsteady breath, trying to get her heart to slow its pace; she felt like it was trying to beat its way out of her ribcage.

Zar was circling overhead, waiting for the rest of the group. As he saw Andruil and Vix appear on their hippogriff, he carved a banking turn to bring himself closer to their level. Aviva and Arsenic could take care of themselves as well as each other; now Zar had to act as another pair of eyes and ears for the rest of the party. Just because they were off the ground didn't mean there were no dangers to be found in the skies...

Ahead of the rest, Aviva was speeding along as fast as her wings would take her, Arsenic pressed flat against the back of her neck so he wasn't torn away from her. Cradled against his chest to keep it out of the cold, fierce wind was a small pack - inside was his torn jacket, and the kitten Vix had decided to take in. She'd asked Arsenic to take it with him, and for some insane reason, he had agreed. Now he needed to make sure the little nameless fuzzball survived the flight back. The things I do for that woman, Arsenic thought to himself, giving a sigh that was snatched by the wind and went unheard. She was the closest thing he had to family though...he'd do almost anything she asked.

Tetto'eko followed Andruil's lead, easily climbing atop the griffon's back with an air of experience. Though he didn't know how precisely to ride a griffon, he doubted it would be more difficult than the more aggressive Terradons of Lustria...
