Nitsunobue had already awoken from his long rest. The wyvern's eyes scanned the area, the large brutish horned beast sniffing the air and feeling vibrations in the earth. A large force was approaching... hopefully it was friendly...

The orcs of Gorgoroth soon went back to their laboring on the metals in their workshops, or practicing their swordmanship with the Stalkers..

"Perhaps it is something you can change," Inarius suggested, taking a seat on the platform he stood on. "You have already made incredible progress. I have seen the evidence in your mind."

"A tenuous one, but yes. We have a plan," Radamand explained, not sure what to think of the changeling's course of action. He had contemplated possible strategies himself, and Tzeentch's idea was the only one that showed even a slight chance of success.

"The elemental seems to think so; but she has...issues with me. When you said that I would learn how I relate to your kind, did you mean I would be at odds with them?" Desrium asked.

"Then all we can do is hope it's enough" said Septimus calmly. After a moment of thought, he looked up at the giant, a curious expression on his face. "Perhaps it's not my place to say, and please stop me if it is not, but the thought has bothered me for some time since we arrived here. Why is it the other gods cannot do what they did last time the Traitor attempted this?" he inquired...

"Not quite," Inarius replied with some hesitation. "Perhaps it is best that you speak to the elemental. About what you need to do to change, and how you relate to her."

"You must understand," Radamand started, his tone remaining neutral. "The gods have been ordering untold worlds in the time since the Traitor's fall. They have traveled unfathomable distances to accomplish this. Even for beings akin to gods, it would take many years before they could return. And by then, it would be too late for Aster, and possibly the rest of the world as well."

"I see" said Septimus, thinking over the explanation he was given. "Then we'll have to hope what we accomplish here is sufficient enough to end the Traitor's reign....or at least postpone it until a true solution can be found" he added, before turning towards the jewelled statuette, eyeing it thoughtfully. "What can you tell me about the deities, Radamand? What are their names, what forces do they command?" he inquired. He knew the Hueilin were not Asterian of origin. But there were traces in the Hueilin's history that could point at their creator...and perhaps their true home...It would be a worthy endeavour to pursue once he had finished exploring Aster....assuming there was anything left of it by the end of the month...

Desrium considered this for several moments. If he could somehow control the habits in which he fed, perhaps his interaction with the elemental would not be so strained. As an added bonus, he would be able to carry on with his friends without draining them of their power. No longer would he have to distance himself from his Hueilin companion when he practiced his arcane arts and Jiier's transformation would not overwhelm him...

"I will do this. Thank you for your guidance, Inarius" he said, bowing his head to the winged one

"Anytime, brother," Inarius replied, returning the bow.

Radamand's expression, for what seemed like the first time, turned from its usual stony neutrality to that of mild amusement. "The gods each represent different aspects, but these are assigned by the races that come in contact with them, usually based on their appearance or what they've done. They, as one might expect, all have nearly unlimited power, and are not bound to specific areas," the giant explained, stroking his long beard with a hand.

Radamand extended his hands, bands of energy leaping off the limbs, curling and twisting to form the shape of what appeared to be a constellation of a winged unicorn, its form a mass of twisting energy both light and dark. Its "wings" were bands of energy with a membrane of light between them. "Moria, the Dawnmother. Goddess of the Dawn and Dusk. Bringer of Justice," Radamand explained, as the shape dispersed.

The energy began to recollect shortly after, part of it forming the head of a rose, while the rest became a cloud of particles which swirled below the rose, giving a vague body shape, that of a gigantic plant stem. "Zhy'nu, Lord of Time. God of Light and Time."

After dispersing once more, the energy collected itself, forming what appeared to be a brilliantly colored three headed bird. One head resembled that of an eagle, another a peacock, and finally that of a phoenix. "Oualtzec, Patron of Diversity. God of Flight and Life."

Now the energy began to form the shape of a mirror, with a vaguely humanoid silhouette in the center. "Scyliss, the Flawed God. God of Mortality and Deceit."

The energy exploded in all directions yet again before forming another shape, that of a large, ghostly looking sea serpent surrounded by a raging maelstrom. The image was identicle to the idol that sat not far away. "Soel, Mistress of Storms. Goddess of Storms and Seas."

The energy quickly took another form, that of a large, hunched bipedal creature made of stone with the head, neck, and tail of a cobra, wielding a massive hammer which also looked like an anvil; the weapon that they had seen upon entering the shrine. "Agnarak, the Worldforger. God of the Earth and Forge."

Now the energy took a fairly feline shape, with the stout head and large back of a badger, the ears of a bat, and the eyes of a chameleon. The creature had a mix of both fur and scales. "Makaviar, the Sensory Menagerie. God of Sight and Sound."

Finally, the energy was collected and blackened, becoming gaseous. Two glaring eyes emerged from within. "The Traitor God. Formerly God of Stealth and Shadow, he is now attributed to Corruption, Destruction, and Treason."

With that, the demonstration was over, the energy being reabsorbed into Radamand's still-outstretched limbs.

And so, the facade of stone crumbled into light gray clouds, giving way to the dim chamber anchored in reality. To his side, a bright ray of afternoon sunlight, the oppressive layer of clouds burning away after hours of dominion over the skies. The Blood Omen got to his feet and bore his weapon, grasping the Lance of the Justicar before turning to face the room's exit, following the old woman out the way she went.

Septimus listened intently as Radamand explained, his expression obviously one of interest. He felt his kind carried traits most notable in Oualtzec and Zhy'nu. He was about to inquire when the oddity struck him; the Traitor wasn't named. "What's the Traitor's name?" he asked, voicing his curiosity...

As time had passed, Arsenic had gone looking among the assassins for one who could grant Elias his request of being given a katana. The sword was relatively hard to find, he knew but one or two of his friends owned one. The difficulty was in getting them to let Elias use it. Andruil's warning that weapons may be useless against the deity rang in his head still. It may very well be true. They were going up against an enemy that they could be powerless against - mere gnats, compared to it. But they had to try - it would be better to die fighting than to give up and cower, simply waiting for death to come to them, and he knew his assassins would agree. After some searching and quite a bit of persuading, Arsenic had managed to convince Dante to give him the sword. Now he stood with the weapon in his hand, looking down at the deep red sheath with some measure of uncertainty. How could the half-starved human hope to be ready to fight in time? From what Vix had told him, Elias had been, at best, a few days away from death when he ran into her and Andruil. What Elias needed was rest, food, and the attention of a healer. His disregard for his own health was troubling, to say the least. Arsenic gave a soft sigh - if he gave this to the human, it would be on his own conscience if the cocky young man got himself killed. He turned to find Andruil and Vix, spotting Rowan and Dante standing not far off with their heads inclined toward each other, obviously deep in conversation. Vix stood a little ways away, and a few other assassins were clustered behind Dante. They were all the village could spare for the moment, with so many dead or wounded. Farther off, Aviva and Zar were sprawled out like giant cats in the field, their eyes fixed on those who would be going to the shrine. Arsenic met the dragoness's green gaze, but couldn't tell much of what she was thinking from her expression at this distance. When he reached out to her, fighting to get past the defensive walls her mind had formed and strengthened over the years, a storm of worry filled her mind...and a flicker of secretiveness, something only she knew, but would not speak of until the time was right. He heard only, Be careful, little one, before she shut him out of her mind completely.

"He has many," Radamand replied simply. "It is the inhabitants of each continent that name their patrons. But due to the nature of the circumstances that surrounded Aster in ancient times, none were ever given the chance. Instead, every other continent has given the Traitor a name of their own."

"Elemental" Desrium said as he moved to exited the passageway, glimmering eyes standing out in the low light. "You have things to teach me, vital to the battle" he continued, stepping out into the light of day and bowing his helm to the old woman. "I am willing to learn"

Septimus nodded thoughtfully as he glanced back at the entrance towards where Desrium had gone. "Is there any name more prevalent than others? Something we could use to identify it as opposed to 'Traitor'?" he asked...

Andruil meanwhile had been roaming the village and its surroundings, discussing what improvements had been made and what news had reached them over the last couple of days. The latest developments worried him. With a threat of this magnitude, there was no doubt that one of Valenhad's leading commanders would be at the head of their forces in the upcoming battle. All of the faction's remaining Generals were close friends of his, and, if not that, at the very least indispensable to the Kingdom. He worried about the impact it would have on the people of Valenhad if the Commander were to fall in battle. Even now, with him mostly detached from the chain of command, he was still a Valenhadian at heart. His homeland always lingered in his mind in difficult times. Looking around, he wondered, if they should fall in battle, what would happen to those not present? the civilians and the helpless. Should the enemy win...What would those who could not fight, do? It was an unsettling question, and one Andruil swiftly forced from his mind. The answer was simple. They could not lose. They could not afford to be defeated. Failure simply was not an option. Setting aside the unsettling matter, Andruil went to find Vix, to see if there was anything he could do to help prepare. He wondered now whether they even had the time to reach their destination...

"Not exactly the best attitude to have when asking something of someone," Tzeentch replied, staring at Desrium from underneath the dark hood.

"You may call him whatever you wish. In my land, he goes by the name 'Eredar', which means 'Heart of Darkness'," Radamand explained.

"A change of tactics is required" Desrium thought. "It is clear that we both have things to settle between us elemental, things that must be addressed before the Traitor God himself" The armored being began to say. "I am Desrium, a pariah; but I am also a servant of the Dawnmother. I am willing to fight in order to secure Aster's continued existence but I cannot do so if you do not teach me, Tzeentch. For that, I ask that you excuse my hunger and visage"

"Dawnmother..." Once again Tzeentch was confronted with a word that sounded familiar, though she couldn't quite place it. "Humility is difficult to express in these times, it seems. Thus, I apologize for my earlier behavior. We are much alike, pariah, even if you are one that feeds on my kind."

Desrium was silent, his flaring eyes betraying his racing thoughts. This old woman...she had great magical power. Against his wishes as it may be, he was drawing from her mana reservoir constantly, sensing her awesome magical potential. But her words hinted that she may not be a woman at all. She might not even be of flesh, but energy given form. Something like him.
