The trap worked. As Cyris moved to evade the jet of acidic saliva, the beast's club-tail swung round, hitting the girl side on, the long spikes on the club carving twin gashes across her stomach and back, only barely missing her spine, the blow nonetheless blowing her off her feet and into a nearby tree, a rattling snarl echoing all around her as the Wyvern once again disappeared...
In the distance a few miles from the beginning of the Forest, the first signs of Valenhad's forces could be seen exiting the mountain pass. platoons upon platoons of soldiers marched towards the shrine, hundreds, if not thousands of trained warriors making their way to the location their alliance was to assemble. Amidst them, a team of 20 men, clad in white and red armour, carrying the banner of the Black Hand, marched around the Commander of the army, Knight Commander Alexander, riding on drake-back, the man clad in silver armour, a black cloak wrapped over his shoulders, a longsword on his back. Immediately behind him, a platoon of 30 Silver Knights and 15 mages from the Council of Mercutio followed. Following behind them, groups of large 6 tusked mammoth-like beasts marched forward in groups of 4, each carrying siege engines on their back, their flanks protected with steel plates. In the air, a group of 10 large black Dragons flew over the army, flying in a circling formation over the army itself, as 4 groups of 3 smaller Dragons, most only slightly larger than a shire horse, flew ahead, scouting the land ahead of them to ensure all was clear for the army to advance. these smaller brown Dragons carried bird like features, including jagged, beak-like mouths that gave them a hawk-like appearance, and intense hawk-like eyes. their tails were long and slender, and ended in wide splaying fins that aided tremendously in aerial manoeuvrability. One scouting group flew past the Germanian army, measuring their forces and taking in details to deliver to the Knight Commander...It was clear that Valenhad was fully committed to winning this war at any cost...
Septimus meanwhile, had exited the temple and was descending towards the courtyard, eyeing Desrium and the Changeling curiously...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
