Cyris stood and limped towards the sound of water running, eventually reaching a river. The elf (who was surprised that she wasn't dead at the moment) knelt at its bank, coughing up a few droplets of blood. She splashed water into her face, cleaning off the dirt that was speckling her skin. Cyris was exhausted; she felt like she needed to just sleep.

No.

She wouldn't sleep now. The elf tried to stand, but her legs felt too wounded to work. She continued to kneel, her head hanging down...

Desrium nodded. "You once told me too much of something is bad. I've had too much to feed off of" he said. "There will be no more incidents concerning your magic when you are around me, I promise you that" he added.

Hoping that she had escaped the flying reptile, Cyris took note that she was deep in this forest. She wasn't getting out for quite a bit. The girl set her crossbow down and stabbed her dagger into the muddy river bank, trying to clean her now dirtied armor off. There was still some dried blood; both hers and the wyvern's; but she could always clean that off later. Cyris could spot some deer from a distance taking a drink; a buck and two does to be exact. She kept eyeing the antlered ungulates, watching as they tracked off into the foliage about a minute later. The elf sighed as she looked back, checking to see if the wyvern was gone...

Vix was standing beside the village's well, arms folded loosely across her chest and a faintly brooding look on her face. What use will a cripple be in this war? she wondered. As if to engourage the thought, the old scar gave a sharp twinge as she rolled her shoulders. If she suffered a fit in the middle of the battle, she'd only distract those who needed to concentrate on protecting their own necks. She jumped as Arsenic laid his hand on her shoulder. He gave her a searching look through concerned golden eyes, but only murmured, 'We should find the others and leave as soon as we can.' Vix nodded and turned to look for Andruil and Elias as Arsenic headed over to Aviva and Zar, quiver across his back, bow in one hand and the katana in the other.

The gryphons had long since trotted out to the field, the two generally preferring to be in an open space. There, Sulrana had playfully bothered and taunted Myrn for several minutes before finally persuading the reluctant black and white gryphon to engage in a noisy game of chase across the expanse. Now however, Sulrana could be seen not too far from the village rolling like a giant feathered cat in the grass, swiping at the occasional passing insect. Her mood seemingly improved, Myrn had gotten bored and left the field to pace between buildings with her beak hovering near the ground, trying to pick out any scent of food from the numerous smells of the village...

Septimus smiled, both pleased for Desrium and pleased with the news itself. "I never really realised it was affecting me so significantly until I began attempting to shapeshift. At least that will no longer be a problem" he said. Reaching into his satchel, Septimus drew a creamy white scabbard, its side decorated with an angular navy blue pattern. the sword's grip continued the design with creamy white leather accented by thin navy blue strips, the silver hand guard and pommel shimmering reflectively. in the pommel itself was a marquise-cut blue topaz, the sky blue gem seeming to glow as the light hit it. the blade was relatively long and slender judging by the shape of the scabbard, and it emanated a barely perceptible aura of magical energy. "I was wondering if you'd help me learn how to use a blade. Before now I never saw any specific use in possessing a sword. But now that I have this form...Well, Let's just say being able to defend myself without changing would be more use to me than transforming whenever I'm faced with a threat." said Septimus as he looked up to the armoured being as he placed the blade at his side, the straps of the satchel morphing to create a place for it, holding the sword in place...

Andruil soon found Vix, heading towards her just as Arsenic walked off. "Are we ready to go?" he asked with an encouraging smile. In the background, Thalion stood by one of the shacks, back to Andruil, obviously still irritated over the latter's switch in bias towards Myrn over him. In a tree a few feet away, Shiryaz watched silently...

Desrium deliberated on the task for a short moment before finally nodding in agreement. "I will try" he responded. He did not know how he would fare as a teacher. After all, he was still Jiier's student. The fact remained that he was the only blade master present at the shrine, so he would at least make the attempt to pass on his knowledge of using a sword. In that, perhaps his skills with the serrated edged blade would find use elsewhere.

Cyris stood, walking down the water's bank, pushing reeds out of her path as she moved. The elf was still a bit bloodied and bruised; she had a cut which went across her right cheek. She would kill the wyvern if it came back for her, although she doubted that it would return. Cyris knelt down at the bank again to rest...

Elias walked over to the knight and the elf that saved him with a smile on his face and an oiled rag in his hand . " hey guys " he said with a smile as he walked up to them , his sword on his side and his dagger out being oiled by he rag in his hand as he hen placed it away . he looked up at the sky and smiled again as he realized what was coming up on the horizon his body almost showing a giddiness to battle again .
" Dear God the only thing I ask of you is
to hold her when I'm not around,
when I'm much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
But I left her when I found her
And now I wish I'd stayed
'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired
I'm missing you again oh no
Once again " - avenged sevenfold dear god

Rattlebones had carried Icil over the forest by now, and she was steering him in the direction of a village she knew of...

Cyris needed to get across this river. She started to walk down its coasts again, looking for a sort of natural bridge...

Draxon was cranking down a bit. The world had gotten a bit dead in the past few hours. The guards stood tall at their stations, watching people of all kinds and classes pass by in the central square. The stalls were in peace, the golden statue of Fafnir the Wise standing tall over all who wandered inb the square. Time had been tough on Draxon lately... everyone knew it, but few accepted it. Draco himself kenw that times were tough... but he knew that his people's time to be strong would arrive soon. He would reveal Zazikel as an emissary of Greshlynk soon... it was only a matter of time...

The small village Icil was approaching was quite quiet, with few people in it. It was certainly a beautiful little place, nestled in the warm embrace of the Great Forest...

Rattlebones started to hover over the edge of the village, his skeletal wings seeming to wave in the wind. Icil pointed to an area of the ground, commanding the wyvern to land...

"By the blood (the death), and of the fire (the conflict) and of the ash (the ruins). We send these conquered souls for you alone to judge, oh Azad, oh god of war. From their ashes, they shall rise as the phoenix, if you will it, oh god of fire. Their bones will fertilise the land, and spawn a million more, stronger and faster if you will their demise, oh judge of life and death. We, your ever adoring servants, will strike the death blow, and bring the fire to their walls, so that they may know your truth." -Prayer for the conquered: Cinderist book of war 19:5

The former human town of Carohall, currently camp of Blazed blood's crusade

Blazed blood rose from his knee, yanking his axe out of the human's skull. He dropped a single coin, soaked in blood, onto the lord's chest. In his last moments, the town's leader had sat in his tower, denying the destruction that had gripped his home. That these people put their trust in such a coward sickened the Badai chaplain. He glanced at his aide, Ash dancer, and nodded. Ash dancer immediately turned around, barking orders at the soldiers looting the room, everyone begun gathering their things, ripping down their ladders and grappling hooks and filing out of the building. They'd taken 2 days to loot the town, it was time to move on, and to send the spoils home.

----

Flaming Dogs

"Naw, it's like this."
Midnight kicked one foot out lazily, her raptor claw clanked and span around, spike extending out parallel with her leg, "You have to twist your ankle as you kick, the engineers will be up next week, they'll demonstrate the actual mechanisms inside the weapon and it'll become clearer."

The young blood nodded her head nervously, eyes wide, soaking up everything she heard. Her name was something like Evewind, of all the young bloods, she annoyed Midnight the least, probably because she spoke the least. One of the scouts swooped through the window of the common room, landing softly onto a perch. "The silent eyes were spotted on their way in, just past the north wall..."

Bladewing nodded and stood up "Thank you, dismissed." The scout nodded, leaving her position of attention and swooping back out the window she'd entered through. "Midnight, let's go."

Midnight sighed, but stood up anyway. She nodded to Evewind before taking wing as well and following Bladewings lead. They rolled around and swooped straight down vertically, falling through the common room before entering an opening in it's floor. Bladewing's wings spread out, Midnight following suit, both of them slowing and then rapidly changing direction, moving around a pair of support beams before exiting through a window in the side of the building. For the briefest of moments, they were soaring over the city of Flaming dogs, in the bright afternoon sun, before entering the next part of the Nightshade training complex, entering through another window and banking to the right into one of many corridors. The complex consisted of several roosts on the top of some of the tallest buildings in Flaming Dogs. All harpies in the unit were encouraged to compete for the quickest routes through the buildings, to make things ever more interesting, they had knocked some shortcuts into many of the rooms, making a casual trip from one part of the base to another into a makeshift assault course.

The scouts downed their beakers of juice quickly, both doing their best to control their breathing. The Nightshade unit called pairs of scouts like these 'silent eyes.' It was valuable training for recruits, and considered the first 'real' assignment any warrior should receive.
After giving them time to collect themselves, Bladewing motioned for them to speak. The scout on the right, with the swirling blue navy patterns, spoke "Blazed blood's crusaders won the battle, they completely destroyed the human army about 4 days ago, the day after they closed in on the town and destroyed it. They had just begun to loot it when we left."
The two exarchs were silent for a moment. Midnight spoke "What was the battle like? Leave the specifics for later, I just want a general idea."
The other scout spoke this time "When the crusaders heard about lord Dagan's army, they set up a large camp in the middle of the road, they hunted, lit fires, chopped wood, everything, but then under the cover of night, we saw them moving all of their wagons and mobile weaponry under the cover of the tents, while Blazed blood took his riders up the valley into the woods. The berserkers took advanced positions along the road side.

When Dagan heard reports of the camp, they couldn't resist the easy target, and they moved as fast as they could, believing they had the element of surprise.
As they neared the camp, the crusaders responded, frantically moving their remaining troops into position in front of the camp. Dagan sounded the attack and his cavalry attempted to charge the camp.
"

Midnight interrupted her "Cavalry? Like horses? Against Badai? Did nobody tell him the army he was fighting consisted of 1 ft tall munchikins?"
The scout shrugged and continued "The crusaders revealed their warmachines, moving their wagons and shields forward to form a semi circular wall infront of the camp, and then the archers and bolters opened fire. The rest of Dagan's army hurried after the cavalry, not aware of what was happening at the front line. The cavalry attempted to jump the wagon wall, but many were caught amongst the barricade of pikes. They still managed to smash a sizable hole into the crusader's defensive line, but as Dagan's army tried to take advantage of it, Blazed blood's riders came down from the top of the valley. Between the wall of crossbows, the troll riders and the berserkers, the army just fell apart. They begun to rally, but lord Dagan ran without sounding the retreat. They were destroyed utterly."

Midnight glanced at Bladewing, who looked concerned.
These crusades always meant bad news, especially when they returned with 'good' news.

"Ah, Tetto. You've been so quiet recently I was starting to forget you were here" responded Andruil with a smirk...

Septimus smiled as he headed towards the courtyard, sensing something in the power of the blade that he hadn't felt before, the sensation oddly soothing, calming him in a way he had not felt since before his visit to Zuppoland...

Desrium met Septimus on the temple grounds and stopped a foot or so ahead of him. The armored being lifted the spear from his shoulder, twirled it in hand so that its double prongs pointed to the ground and then drove them into the stone so that the spear stood beside Septimus, almost matching his height. "The key to using a sword is formation" Desrium said before reaching out and drawing the Drow's weapon with expert speed and precision, intending to demonstrate. The blade left its sheath smoothly, barely disturbing Septimus' attire.

Sulrana soon stopped rolling, laying sprawled out on her side for several moments before raising her head, realizing her flockmates were out of sight. Curiosity suddenly flaring, the kestrel mix sprang to her paws, shook the grass from her feathers and fur, and loped off toward the last place she thought she saw Myrn, intent on finding out where the gryphon went. As she came up to the side of a shack, she slowed to a halt, glancing briefly to the side when she recognized the not-too-distant voice of the scaled one who had been her rider. Quickly turning her attention back to her mission, she sniffed both ground and air carefully for a moment before creeping stealthily to the shack's edge and peering around the corner. Her ears perked as her gleaming black gaze fixed not on Myrn, but on Thalion. If his mood was anything like it was when she saw him last, she doubted he would appreciate her company. But Myrn wasn't in the best of moods when they arrived either and she had managed to cheer her up enough to play, eventually. Since she couldn't find Myrn at the moment, maybe she could try the same tactic on Thalion. His back was to her, so she thought there was a chance he might not notice her approach if she was very quiet...

There was a small Inn at the edge of the town, and many small houses lined the dirt crusted streets. A smal Blacksmith Forge was also located in the town, plumes of smoke signalling its location to Icil...

the blade revealed itself to be a rich brown, its polished wooden lustre only surpassed by the rippling, tigerstripe-like pattern decorating the blade vertically. It was light to the touch, and had the faintest hint of a metallic green tint visible where the light reflected off the blade. Septimus watched, impressed, having never really taken a good look at the sword, the elven blade retrieved from a ruin early in his journeys across Aster...

"Oh, the evils of old age. How heartless they are" responded Andruil with a smirk...

Thalion indeed, was not aware of the Gryphon, preoccupying himself with Shiryaz, the two having seemingly become locked in a staring contest, the griffin hawk's unmoving gaze practically burning into the Hippogriff's own, Thalion not daring break his gaze, his pride in the balance...
