"The reasons could vary. And with them, the intensity of the reaction" growled Septimus as he walked, concern building for their simian friend...

"There is no question as to how angry he was. It was the...sadness that confused me" Desrium explained to the Scholar, finding it perfectly natural to be discussing emotions at the head of battalions of soldiers...

"You only saw your sword as a weapon. There is a chance Jiier's may have meant more to him than that. A gift from an old friend, or a remnant of his former life, perhaps" growled Septimus, contemplating possibilities as he spoke...

"I see" Desrium said, taking a moment to consider Septimus' words. "If something were to happen to the book you gave me as a present, would I experience...sadness as well?" asked the armored being.

"That would depend on how much you value the book. But no, I don't think you would. You would have to value something immensely to experience a reaction like that....it'd have to be something.....irreplaceable" responded Septimus, lingering on the last word as a realisation struck him. The staff couldn't possibly have been purely Jiier's construction. Otherwise, he could simply make a newer, better one. This one must've been found....no, not even found. Given to him. It was a gift. But from who, he couldn't say...

"I think I understand now" Desrium replied thoughtfully. "But if the staff was a gift, who gave it to him? He was a hermit living in a canyon inside a jungle" the Blood Omen inquired, beginning to wonder about the rest of the items Jiier kept in his chest, the robe he now wore included...

The Lizardmen army arrayed alongside the rest was impressive, to say the least. Lines of vicious Saurus warriors made up the bulk, armed with their spiked maces and axes, made of stone, but still sufficient enough to kill in the hands of these warriors. Even their shields were edged with these vicious barbs. Leading the Saurus infantry was the albino Oldblood Gor-Rok, resolute, who had never taken a step backward in battle, and one of the most powerful fighters in Aster. Scattered amongst the ranks of Saurus were towering Kroxigor, carrying even more massive weapons which could shatter half the bones in a man's body with a single strike. One of these Kroxigor, heavily scarred and covered in plates of armor, was known as Nakai the Wanderer. He traveled the forests of Lustria alone, only appearing before his fellow Lizardmen when a battle of great importance was soon to come. It was unsurprising, then, that he had appeared in Itzl just before Lord Kroak had mustered his forces. Along the right flank of the army was the Cold One cavalry, their mounts dim-witted but unquestionably vicious. Leading them, as he always did, was Kroq-Gar himself, his Carnosaur mount Grymloq far smarter and more powerful. Kroq-Gar had a second-in-command as well: the Scar-Veteran Bok-Ax, who rode a Horned One, a subspecies of the Cold Ones that was even more aggressive, and far more intelligent. Few Saurus knew how to control these beasts, but those that did were given great reverence. Along the left flank were the trio of Stegadons the Lizardmen had brought with them. Each was crewed by Skinks, safely squirreled away in the howdahs on the creature's backs. One had a "Great Bow;" essentially a ballista, while the second was equipped with a massive blowpipe, each dart the length of a man's arm. After realizing that venom would be of little use against Eredar's forces, they had asked for assistance from Tehenhauin. The Priest enchanted the crew's oversized darts, triggering a blast of magical energy each time one hit a target. The blast itself would be small, but the blowpipe was large enough to fire a spray of darts, not just one at a time. Tehenhauin himself was on the third Stegadon, its howdah replaced with what was known as an Engine of the Gods: a massive magical artifact, rumored to be created at the beginning of time, that could not only enhance the magical power of the Skink Priest using it, but also strike out at surrounding enemies with magical fire or weaken the minds of enemy wizards. A truly impressive device, and one only used in times of great need. Most of the other Skinks, other than the Terradon riders flying above and the handlers of the Salamanders and Razordons alongside the Stegadons, were at the back of the army, a last line of defense alongside the Temple Guard to protect the numerous Slann Mage-Priests that had stirred themselves to contribute to the battle...

"Perhaps he was not always that way" rumbled Septimus thoughtfully. It occurred to him how little they really knew about the shapeshifter. All they really knew at all was that he was a shapeshifting Dragon that lived in a cave in a canyon, and recently, that he was very attached to his staff...

"As intriguing as our friend is, his whereabouts are henceforth...irrelevant. Our full focus should be on our roles on the battlefield. We can search for him after the fighting is over, if we still exist" Desrium stated frankly. Every fiber of every fighter had to be committed to defeating the Traitor God and those forced into alliance with him. Jiier's absence meant a valuable asset was lost, a blow to the resistance but not a crippling one...

Cyris fired another arrow at the group, aiming for Kard more than anyone else...

"Don't get hit by her arrows! They're worse than a normal one, they have a chance to steal souls!" Icil advised.

Jerrin was relieved the Draxon guards were distracted, his evasion tactics having pulled off. He didn't want to think about what he would have done if he had been found out, the White Fang didn't usually take being man handled or orders well. pulling his hooded cloak over his crimson armor, Jerrin continued on through deeper into the city walls. As he walked through the crowded and active streets Jerrin makes sure his appearance is completely hidden, he does not know if these people know of what he is. Slinking into a deserted ally way Jerrin takes a time to take in his surroundings. Freyr-Lunge, as Jerrin soon discovered to be true was a massive city, the largest that he has seen in his entire life. Stepping back out into the busy streets Jerrin continues his way, looking for a place to stay for the rest of the day and prepare for his hunt...

A bolt of lightning lanced forth from the tip of Ivan's walking stick, the bolt cleaving straight through the crossbow bolt before it could even get close to Kard. The warrior, on the other hand, fired another arrow, before he put his bow away (he didn't want to waste his arrows) and pulled out his shield to block any incomnig projectiles.

"Can't this damned beast go any faster?!" Kard yelled as Ivan charged up another lightning bolt to fire at Cyris, the storyteller keeping his off hand ready to conjure up a barrier...

There was an inn at the edge of the central square, but overall, it seemed as though things were emptying out today. Guards went on their usual patrols, keeping watch, noting the odd character with the hood. People with hoods weren't uncommon, but they often were not from the city itself... and many of them had nefarious purposes, so the guards had all the rights to be suspicious of this odd character...

The wyvern suddenly burst into full speed, his wings to his sides as he let out a noble roar. Cyris followed the group on the ground, firing another shot at Ivan, intending for the arrow to land in the old man's forehead. The corrupted and beastly elf then started to conjure her slight experience with necromancy, a skull-shaped ball of flame starting to appear in her hands...

An odd sigil-liek wall soon appeared before the old man. The moment the crossbow bolt touched the barrier, it was devoured by the wall of magical energy, vaporizing on contact. But Ivan groaned, the old man feeling his magic eating away at his energy. Channeling more magic into his staff, the old man fired a bolt of lightning once more, the magic blast slicing towards Cyris on the ground. Ivan needed to get more energy soon... or else...

Kard readied his shield, just in case the elf decided to attack him....

Jerrin soon noticed a building which appeared to be an inn, like a shadow the sole survivor of the White Fang clan drifted to the inn's entrance. Stepping inside, Jerrin's crystal blue eyes glowed in the dim light of the Draxon Inn. With no real motivation, Jerrin walked up to the check in desk waiting for the Inn keeper to serve his needs. Recalling his passage into the city Jerrin soon realized that he was being watched, even from his immediate climb over the gate. Intrigued, the Lycan wondered if even now he was under surveillance...

A receptionist immediately approached him, the woman wearing some relatively bland looking clothing for the most part, save for a very fancy necklace (which was probably an heirloom of some sorts). The woman eyed the lycan for a moment before she spoke.

"What do you need, sir? Need a room? Perhaps some mead and food to fill your belly? Information? Or perhaps you're looking for a bounty?"

Jerrin had originally came for a room but the prospect of a bounty intrigued the shape shifter greatly. Looking at the receptionist with a interested look Jerrin spoke.
"I would like a room please, I don't know when I will be leaving for I have some buisness to finish here and it may take sometime to finish it." Jerrin began in a gruff voice, it had been a long time since he had used his voice for anything other than battle cries or howling.
"Also I would like to know about this bounty. What is it?" Jerrin said intrigued with the concept of getting extra cash and disposing of his sworn enemies...

Icil's hands and eyes lit aglow, an orb of darkness appearing in both of her hands as she fired both orbs at the corrupted girl, shouting out what seemed to be the same language that she had used to command Rattlebones...

"3 gold coins is all you need for the room," the innkeeper replied. She soon spoke about the bounty.

"There have been rumors of Vampires growing about the area," the innkeeper replied. "There's one in particular that has been hunted for a while now, but people think he has left the area. i'll give you the bounty letter, but know that he has claimed the lives of many others before you..."

The woman puleld the bounty letter out from beneath the desk and slid it towards Jerrin...

Both Ivan and Kard were shocked at Icil's display of magic, though both kept their eyes locked firmly on Cyris, keeping themselves readied...

Jerrin deposited three of his gold coins on the table to the Innkeeper before reaching for the bounty letter. Looking down at it Jerrin was shocked to see a very detailed drawing of one of the Forsaken! Growling under his breath Jerrin looked back up at the Innkeeper his eyes expressing a primal and ancient anger he usually can keep under control.
"Rumors lead to these creatures madame, I will accept this bounty and catch these vampires for Draxon. I just hope the government here doesn't care receiving them in pieces." Jerrin says coldly waiting for his room key so he may better plan his hunting strategy...
