Arsenic set his elbow on his chair's armrest and rested his cheek against a loosely curled fist, his other eyebrow rising. 'And I'm not a mute,' he said, sugary, faux enthusiasm coating sarcasm that had been honed to a razor's edge. 'I'm just verbally challenged.'

Rowan made a strangled sound around a poorly timed bite of bun, half pained, half mirthful, and Vix turned to make sure the scarred assassin wasn't in danger of choking.

"She is indeed," the psychomancy instructor agreed plainly.

"She must mean well," Solaurn reasoned, then patted Viho on his side, for being unable to reach his shoulders. "Very well then, off you get. Another day, another night to spend resting up for the next one. Be safe on your way home," she told him next. She would be here for a little while longer, yet.

"Precisely!" responded the Knight with a joking cheer before eating the last of his bun, chewing on it for a few moments before swallowing. "It is a fascinating world of intricacies and technicalities we live, wouldn't you say?" he asked with a lopsided grin.
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"

"Of course." Viho gave Solaurn's shoulder a grateful squeeze in return and he turned to go. "The same to you."

'Pretty sure you can't skate by on a technicality on this one,' Arsenic remarked, then waved a hand. 'In any case, I already said just ask if you're curious.'

"Not quite yet," he responded as he sat up. "There was something that occurred to me today, and I wanted to know if your knowledge of the subject differed from mine," he explained, suddenly leaning forwards, offering the bag towards the Mute. "Bun?"

Arsenic swallowed about three different cutting remarks along with what was left of his first bun and cocked his head at Andruil. 'Had one,' he said dismissively, though Rowan took the fact that he didn't recoil from the offer of more food as a good sign. 'I'd expect our knowledge differs on just about everything. You're going to need to be specific.'

Andruil shrugged as he drew the bag back, his legs crossing as he sat back in the chair, taking another bun out and biting a chunk off of it. "I assume you all heard the big...loud...really powerful dragon that passed through this morning, yes?"

"Hard to miss," Vix agreed from where she was finally certain that Rowan wasn't about to die.

Arsenic rested his head back on his hand. 'We didn't get remotely close, but I'm fairly sure it wasn't one I've ever seen before.'

"Technically...we have. It was the Stormweaver. He was the one who saved us from Discord when we passed through Shadepines on the way to Koganusan. You remember? When we went to get a team of masons to build the village walls?" he asked. "Desrium confirmed my suspicions, but Viho knew nothing of him. Which got me thinking...My knowledge is limited...His does not exist..." he trailed off, as if expecting the others to finish his sentence.

Instead of completing the thought, Arsenic studied his friend for a moment before he snorted quietly. 'Viho willingly dropped out of touch with everyone back home and stayed missing for sixteen years,' he informed Andruil. 'I don't know if I'd call him a reliable source on much of anything, especially recent events.'

"He must know something, though," Rowan said, a slight puzzled frown creasing her brow. "Why would he come here, otherwise?"

The mute elf shook his head. They hadn't gotten to that part of talking things out yet.

"The Stormweaver's quite a bit older than sixteen years, though. Myths and legends surround him. One of the places he's been most influential is only two days' ride from Riverdale. And that dates back more than a millennium," explained the Knight. "The reason I'm asking is...He's just as famous as he is mysterious...I've heard stories, but...I'm not sure I believe or understand them all. I wanted to know what you have heard...Something to help me make sense of him."

'I doubt what I know will help, exactly. I hardly have all the details.' Arsenic sighed, settling more comfortably with his head just about pillowed on his arm. 'The one time Septimus spoke to me of his father, he was bitter. Angry. He'd been exiled for what amounted to not being good enough in Arashi's eyes, or so it seemed at the time.' The assassin shrugged lazily. 'That conversation was years ago, now. You would need to ask Septimus for more information.'

"Indeed... Perhaps I will, next time I get the opportunity," stated the Knight, laying back, thoughtful. It was funny, seeing the odd parallels between Septimus and Arsenic at a distance. Both had fathers they were on bad terms with, bitterness that seemed to have driven them both forward. But the last he had seen of Septimus, he had returned a war hero and, surprisingly, a father himself, if perhaps in name only. It almost made him wonder what would happen if Arsenic were to have a family of his own.

'Couldn't hurt.' There it was again, that curiosity aimed at Arsenic and itching at his senses. He didn't move much, but he did lift his head a little and give Andruil a questioning look. 'What?'

The Mute's inquiry brought the Knight out of his reverie with a start. "Hm? Ohh. No, I was just considering how you would benefit from starting a family," deadpanned the Knight, not giving himself a chance to lose his composure, taking another bite out of his bun.

Whatever Arsenic might have been expecting, it wasn't that. He paled a shade or two and glanced at Rowan in what might have been a plea for help...which didn't come as she shook her head and held up her hands in a helpless gesture, caught just as off-guard.

'I don't think that's particularly likely,' Arsenic finally replied, his voice just a little strained as he struggled to find his footing again.

Andruil swallowed his mouthful as soon as he was confident he would not burst out laughing. "Elves live a long time. Even assassins. Or, the talented ones, at least," he stated more evenly. "There may be hope yet," he added with that lopsided grin. "You know, now I wish I had taken on that bet, Vix."

Vix smiled and shrugged. "One-time thing," she teased. "Sorry."

Arsenic lifted a finger as though to ask Andruil to hold his train of thought. 'Ignoring that I have no interest in fathering a child to begin with,' he started, the dry edge returning to his tone now that he was on more familiar ground, 'I'm pretty sure any child I tried to raise would end up just as ****** up as I am.'

"Oh, I don't know. The way I hear it told, you were quite a good father figure to Aviva's young. Or at least, a very strange, very small uncle," retorted Andruil matter-of-factly.

The mute elf arched an unimpressed eyebrow. 'You're comparing keeping an eye on baby dragons for a while to raising a kid?' he asked even more dryly.
