Blackstripe and Ruby followed Darkness curiously, while the other two hatchlings returned to Steeltalon's side, tired out by the game. Steeltalon lifted them up carefully and placed them in the center of the nest, wanting to curl up herself and rest a while.
Silver sighed and got up, thinking over what she was going to say. "Steeltalon...can I talk to you for a minute...alone?" Silver asked, her head the height of Steeltalon's shoulder. Steeltalon glanced at the sleeping hatchlings and then at Darkness and nodded. Silver walked into the jungle, Steeltalon following worriedly. "What's this about?" the older female asked, tilting her head to one side and studying Silver's expression. "Well...I've been thinking. About our agreement," Silver growled quietly. "And...I have to know...do you still want me to leave?" Steeltalon's eyes widened in shock. "S-Silver, how could you ever think I wanted you to leave? You're like my daughter." Silver sighed. "I know, and you're like my mother...but, Steeltalon, I'm not a hatchling anymore. I'm ready to grow up...and look for my pack." Steeltalon winced. She was hurt that Silver wanted to leave. "I...I'm not the one to tell you what you can or can't do," Steeltalon murmured, stretching her head forward and nuzzling her foster daughter. "Be strong. I'll never forget you, Silver." Silver closed her eyes, feeling the sting of saying goodbye to all the friends she'd grown used to having nearby. "I want to say goodbye to everyone," the off-white female murmured, fighting back a screech of sorrow. Steeltalon nodded sorrowfully. She led Silver back to the clearing and her foster daughter barked sadly, "I just want to say that...you're all the best friends I could ever have wanted. I've decided it's time for me to go...thank you all for being here for me. And...Switchblade. Good luck, my friend." Silver bowed her head when she was done and leaned against Steeltalon slightly. "I'll miss you all." Silver started to head in the direction of the game trail, Steeltalon looking after her. The older female's face was a mask of pain and sorrow, but she took a deep breath and managed to stay silent as she walked back to the nest.
