Jurassic Park

Postby TyrannoTitan » Fri Mar 02, 2007 8:50 pm

It had to be made. One of the best (in my opinion) books to be made. I've heard ALOT about them. Even people who aren't JP fan people like them. To bad I never read them :cry: .

This is a topic to talk about the books, and to tell me if I should pick them up from the library.

You should. They're much better than the movies, and in my opinion the characters there are more interesting and better developed. Especially for TLW, where Levine, a paleontolgist not even mentioned in the movie, is added. I think he's one of my favorite characters in all the novels that I've read.

I like the movies better then both the books. You want to know why? Because movies you get to see the dinosaurs JP style. And JP style dinos look very cool. And i guess also because i can see it instead of imagining it. But sure you should pick up the books and read them they are very good.

I have read through the first 50 some pages and I like it better then the movie. More characters, in-depth plot, and some other qualities the movie forgot. Though, I still enjoy the movie.

im planning to get it next time i hit a nice long holiday. also, i prefer to imagine rather than see, because it gives you the ability to make the character look like what you want. when you watch a film, and see a character you dont like, you cant just imagine giving him a massive nose, really thick eyebrows and a pair of ridiculous looking glasses. in books, you can if you want :P

The reason i like the movies more becasue i hate Malcolm in the books, he acts like a d**k towards every character... except Dr. Sattler :wink:

LOL! I just read the Trex attack part in the first book. Malcome is an *** but thats what makes him Malcome :wink: .

Its EXTREMELY stupid how they almost totally forgot the book. Examples:

===============
Movie
===============
Lex=Older
Tim=Younger

No Compys

1 Trex

Small, frilled Dilo

VERY few explainations

Hammond = Old guy with
a dream

Bullet Guns for Muldoon

Nedry just gets spit on

===============
Book
===============
Lex=Younger
Tim=Older

Compys

2 Trexs

Big, non-frilled Dilo

Many Explanations

Hammond = ******* with a dream

Missle Launcher for Muldoon ( :shock: )

Nedry gets blinded, dis-embowled, then killed

i looked on ebay and found a 1st ed. JP comic!, with a dilo on the front.

Ya Malcom seemed more of an *** in the book. But thats how Crichton wanted him to be. Its actually the movies fault he's different and some people like the movie one more. If they would have stuck to the book, Grant wouldn't be "involved" with Ellie and Malcom would become the biggest *** in the world. Small and big things they got wrong; just look atmy other post...

Muldoon has a MISSLE LAUNCHER!

I actually think that some characters in the books are extremely annoying, Malcolm and Lex. Malcolm is just a general loser and Lex never shuts up about being hungry and is extremely rude for someone who is even like eight or nine years old.

LOL!! I LOVE the young Lex! She's hilarious!

In the book, she finds and befriends a baby Triceratops. She names him "Ralph" After the Trex water scene, she says to Grant, "I wonder how Ralphs doing.."

He replys, "I'm sure he's fine."

She says, "Nah, he's probably dead."

LOL!

I've finished the first book and am almost half way through the second one. I like them better then the movies. Definately.

Good to hear someone else likes them. What do you think of Levine?

I'm still on the part right before they find him (out of what you said, I think he will be alive) He's.....an *** to everyone other then Malcome and such. Or....thats what I've figured out so far.

In the first book malcolm is a ****, Lex is always screaming about being hungry and complains about everything. eg.
"How does this work"
"Give it to me!"
"No! i found it so it is mine!"
She is so annoying. Plus the raptors inthe book are too intellegent, they actually are smarter then the humans. Plus there is so much killing in the book... like everyone dies.
