Name: Gabriel Valentine
Gender: Male
Age: 200...?
Description:
Country: Unknown
Ship Name: Unknown
Weapons: Two Flintlock Pistols and a Cutlass.
History: Gabriel Valentine was the son of a very wealthy Trader. A
very wealthy Trader. His Fathers ship was one of the biggest in the Seven Seas. When it came into Port, the entire thing would Harbor as a sort of Mobile Shop, opening up the bottom half to anyone that wished to buy or sell. The Crew, The Ship, him and his Father were very, very well taken care of. The Son traveled his entire life, seeing new places and buying and selling new things.
Eventually, as happens to all with such great Wealth... His Father became Greedy. Very, very Greedy. He was not Evil, but he started to buy and sell things that were very hard to gain a hold of. Exotic Animals, Unknown Treasures, things that had been thought lost to history. His Father had the Crew to learn how to fight with Sword and Gun to fight off Pirates, as they were being constantly being boarded for there Treasures. When selling Trinkets one day off an Island in the Caribbean, one of the Crew learned a story that he told his Father. Somewhere, off the coast of Tortuga was supposedly buried deep, deep down in the sand below the Sea, an old, old relic. It was said to date back to before Jesus.
Naturally, the Father searched for it.
It took ten years, ten, long years, to find the buried thing. It was trapped inside some sort of black box with unreadable inscriptions in it. At first, they thought the Box was the treasure, until they rattled it enough to hear something inside it. They could not open it no matter how hard they tried, so they took it to a master Locksmith. The Master took one look at it and shook his head, claiming it to be cursed. The Father was rather angry. He took it to another Locksmith, who claimed the same thing. They told him it was cursed, but refused to tell him how, not wanting to talk about it anymore than they had to. More and more, the Father would try to open it on his own. As he failed, he became more greedy and more frustrated, angry all the time as Gabriel watched with distraught. The Father even tried to sell the Box itself at one point, but failed in doing so.
One day while selling items in Tortuga again, an old man saw the Box in a corner. He told the Father that he would open it for him in exchange for passage to another Island. The Father agreed without Hesitation, taking the Old Man onto the boat. While taking the Old Man along with them, they were attacked by Pirates. The Father fought Valiantly, but was killed while taking a bullet from his First Mate. Gabriel saw this, and it almost drove him to Insanity. He always thought his Father was Invulnerable. Gabriel became the new Captain, and obliged to take the Old Man to the Island, wanting to open the Box in respect for his Fathers Wishes. When he got off the boat, he opened it to him... There was absolutely nothing inside the Box. The rattling was a few Silver Coins. Once more, Gabriel was almost driven to near Insanity. He became depressed for a while, the Crew worrying about him as he sold his Merchandise sadly.
Then the Crew noticed something. They did not know what it was, but they felt... Different. They waved it off, all feeling it but not worrying greatly or talking about it. One day, they were attacked by Pirates yet again. They won the battle, but half the Crew were so badly hurt they could not walk. Several of them had limbs cut off. They were bandaged, sewn up the best they could be and laid in bed to heal. The next day, they were still bleeding. The next day, blood was everywhere. More blood than it seemed they should have had. They should have been dead, they had lost so much blood... But they were fine. They claimed they did not even feel the Pain anymore. The next day, they took off the bandages to find there cuts and wounds the same. It became apparent then, that they were not going to heal... However, the Crew still claimed they felt no pain and started to work again the best they could, despite there horrible scars and wounds. It took one week for the Crew to decide that whatever happened with the Box, had happened. They were cursed. They did not even mind at first, seeing no downside in it.
Eventually, the Pirate raids grew so large that the Crew had become very good fighters just from experience at defending themselves. It took another ten, good years for them to see the downside to the curse. They did not heal, they usually felt no pain, there injuries almost never slowed them down... But they did age. A large number of the Crew still had no injuries, and wanted to end the Curse before it consumed them. The rest of the Crew did not want to, as they knew that if they were given there normal lives back, there injuries would kill them. Gabriel was on this side, having many Injuries himself, being targeted as the Captain. This eventually led to a pointless Mutiny, seeing as how they did not know how to end the Curse anyway. However, this did finally bring Gabriel to the snap of Insanity. The remaining Crew had been hurt in the Mutiny and had the same problem the rest of them did, so decided to stay.
Gabriel, in his Insanity, decided he was going to stop selling things. He returned to Tortuga one last time, sold what he had - To wide eyed Islanders - and used the money to buy weapons, gunpowder, and cannons. He equipped the ship like it was some sort of Navy Vessel, filling it with a vast amount of Weapons with his Wealth. He used it to hunt down Pirates with a Passion. Eventually, when the weapons and wealth had dried up, and the age started to settle in... They realized with a shock realization what they had feared was happening. In there old age, they were not going to die... Simply Decay. They turned into Monstrous things, Skeletons, Ghouls, skin falling off to display bones. Some of them still show rotting skin, some of them are complete Skeletons. The rest of the world looked at them, and attacked.
Gabriel was angered beyond belief, his Insanity settling in with Rage. For twenty long, dreary years he hid, doing his best to make the world think he was nothing but a myth. When they emerged from hiding, he had the satisfaction to learn that his Ship was now nothing more than a Ghost story to scare kids. He still loved his Crew, who had grown to be a sort of Family after knowing each other for so long, but shunned the rest of the world, decided then that Pirates were not the only ones who deserved to die. With his Ghostly crew, he set out in the world, attacking any who came across him. He really didn't even see a problem with it. In his Insanity, he decided that logically, he was proof that there was life beyond Death and they had nothing to fear.
He later learned that the Curse centered around his Ship. The Souls of his Crew were somehow embedded in it. If they were hacked enough so that they literally could do nothing, they turned to dust and the ship would let them go. This only happened once, but he refused it to let happen to him, fearing dreadfully that his Soul was dammed. Still, he supposed he could do no worse and still sailed the Seas, slicing a bloody, happy, Insane path of destruction to any who came across him. He hardly ever left survivors, but the ones he captured he learned that through his ship he could turn into more of the Undead Pirates
if they were willing of it. They had to comply, and they had to know that there was no turning back. The ones that just came on his ship weren't turned, they had to actually go through somewhat of a process to be one of his Crew. He always kept a certain amount of Crew though, never going below or above it. The ones that refused were cut to ribbons. The ones that complied were turned... Then cut up, as a sort of Initiation so that they would know what they were for as long as they lived. He also learned something else about his Ship, but that would be best saved for later...
Currently: Gabriel Valentine is still sailing, but his destruction has been toned down a notch. He is not completely and totally without Mercy, but if he thinks there's risk that people could find out about him, he'd kill someone without hesitation. He is a well kept secret and prefers to stay that way. He does still attack Innocents, but only when he needs something they have. He is a kind of animal, except that instead of killing for what he needs he kills for what he wants. His crew does not need to eat to live, but does feel a pain inside without food and so does eat... They have also refrained from killing everything in site, but they do love to Murder. Although it is not his fault, through his long 200 years of life he has felt responsible for what happened to his Crew, and does love all of them. And even though they would Murder everything else, as stated before, they are somewhat of a family... A murdering, creepy, disgusting, rotting, bloody family... But a family nonetheless.
