Vix clapped her hands against her ears, nearly uttering her own cry of pain as the shrieks battered her sensitive eardrums. Grimacing, she turned to see how the others were faring. Aviva and Zar were weaving in disoriented circles overhead, the dragons moving higher in an effort to escape some of the piercing sounds. Arsenic was hunched in a pose similar to Vix's, bow clasped between his knees so it didn't fall out of his reach.

Just as Tetto began to enhance the spell, a bolt of pain tore through his mind, as if something had driven a serrated dagger through it and was now pulling it out, shredding and pulling at his conscious mind as it did so, an ominous, foreboding chuckle echoing in the Astromancer's mind...

Meanwhile, the Banshees suddenly swerved, several swooping in from the trees, two diving at Arsenic from either side at once, making use of his moment of weakness, as two more dove down at Vix from above, Andruil being tackled by one, dying as it hit him, it's claws scrabbling against his armoured flanks, his blade splitting it's heart in half as he kicked it off, only to have two more attack his flanks, the man twisting to behead one as the other knocked him to the floor, crushing the dead one under the combined weight of the man and the beast, Andruil gasping in pain as he felt the beast's talons on his arm, the interlocking chain and leather on his back barely holding up to the onslaught as the man flipped, crushing it underneath him as he continued the roll into a low crouch, the creature flipping to it's feet and leaping at him without hesitation, Andruil's eyes shimmering yellow as he grabbed one clawed arm behind the wrist, his sword jamming into the other arm's shoulder as it screeched in pain, Andruil kicking it off him as he lunged forward, his blade plunging through it's chest and out the back of it's neck in a swift blow. the whinnying of Furax echoed hauntingly through the clearing as two Banshees attacked him, the horse bucking wildly, a foot catching one of the monstrosities in the chest, caving it in completely, the creature launched back into the tree line like a rag doll, it's entire upper torso demolished from the blow as the horse bucked and reared, ramming his flank against a tree in an attempt to dislodge the remaining beast...

Meanwhile, whispers began to echo in Nitsunobue's mind, audible but incomprehensible, random notable words appearing amidst the broken, melancholy choir in the Wyvern's mind. "KILL......Anarslaughterchy Submitdefeat powArchdemoner Discord CHAOS freewrathdom" rang the voices in his mind as he edged towards the group...

Tetto'eko hissed in pain, his spell momentarily destabilizing. The light faltered for a moment, losing its more dangerous properties, before the Skink could set up a strong enough mental barrier to focus again and bring the light back up. He didn't try to turn the magic into an offensive weapon again, not too keen on incurring the wrath of whatever force had just taken a jab at his mind...

Nitsunobue shook his head, attempting desperately to hold on to what little focus he had left. The voices did not relent; they buffeted his mental barriers like a sandstorm, their sharp tones and the unending torment beginning to fray at the deranged Wyvern's mind. He could take no more; he screamed, mixed with insanity and sorrow, and began to shout at the top of his lungs:

Having just a split-second's notice, Arsenic only barely reached one of his poison-tipped adatas before the two creatures slammed into him. Thinking quickly, he slammed it into the stomach of the one behind him, the sharp point cutting through flesh easily. The toxin would begin to act almost as soon as it touched blood, sending a fast-acting combination of necrotic venom and neurotoxin through the veins. He kicked the other away, picking up his bow and loading an arrow as fast as he could.

The shadows alerted Vix; she dove out of the way, throwing herself into a forward roll. As she recovered and leapt to her feet, she threw one of her knives at the attacking monsters on the turn, hoping it would at least hit the mark and do some damage...she only had so many blades on her. her other dagger she kept clenched in her fist, held parallel to the ground. She shifted her weight to the tips of her toes, so as to be at her fastest, and waited for the next move to come.

Deka lurked outside the city walls, half covered in their shadow. The Eye of Greshlynk had turned out to be nothing of consequence. It surely had its uses, but...
It's a mere tool, what contains the power of foresight, he thought to himself, musing. The Shade doubted it had any relation to the talismans he seeked.
He now faced a choice: he could move on, and continue his search for the lost relics in the regions past this town. Alternatively, he could return to New Immortalis to report what little news he had, take some kind of downtime and start at a different location, get others to come with and aid him, and the like; he did not give this idea much consideration, as it would be a waste of time in his eyes, and he preferred working alone. He contemplated stirring up trouble, and attempting to procure the amulet Draco had spoken of. The newly appointed king had been very reluctant to let Deka see it, so he likely would have to acquire the item via theft.
He spent some time there speculating, waiting for the sun to fall further.
Coming to a decision, he slipped past the city walls in his natural form, biding his time. He would need the cover of semi-darkness before trying anything; it would not do to rush this task...

The city of Draxon was in silence. Few things stirred of the relative darkness, save for some guards. None knew of Deka's presence; Draco himself believed him to have disappeared from the city. Not that he cared anymore; he had a possible war to fight, and an Archdemon to please. He had more important things to worry about than a hyper advanced Shadowreaver....

as the blade flew at the Banshee, the beast batted it aside, the blade lodging itself in a tree, before leaping at the girl, just as Furax reared, kicking forward at the monstrous abomination, crushing it under-foot, the second one leaping over the stallion and at the girl...

The first of the two Banshees attacking Arsenic screeched in agony as the adata plunged into it's chest, it's upper torso beginning to cave in on itself as the necrotising venom worked rapidly, eating away the Banshees already brittle torso, as the second hurtled at the Elf, tackling him to the ground, losing grip on the man's armour and tumbling over him, digging it's claws into the ground as it skidded to a halt, turning to face him as another piercing screech rang out from the beast...

Andruil meanwhile was locked in combat with a larger, blackened Banshee, it's normally whitish eyes shimmering eerily as it's decaying features sagged, fangs dripping with saliva as it snapped wildly at him, trying to get a bite out of the man, Andruil grabbing it by the arms firmly as he suddenly twisted, tossing it off him and against a tree as he drew his dagger, plunging the blade into it's skull as it screeched at him, silencing the beast before pulling the blade free, grabbing his sword, lodged in the ground as the attackers' ranks had seemingly thinned out, only a few of the beasts remaining...

Meanwhile, obscured by the light of the staff, a shimmering, distorted figure seemed to stand just beyond the treeline, staring calmly at Tetto'eko, the figure standing tall, humanoid in pose though seemingly lacking facial features, the head cast in darkness, the entity disappearing moments later, the whole incident lasting only a few seconds...

an eerie cackle rang out in Nitsunobue's ears as a deep, multi-toned voice mocked his pleas tauntingly. "STOP! PLEASE! MERCY UPON ME!" Repeated the demonic voice in the Wyvern's ears as a cacophony of haunting laughs rang out in the beast's mind, images of whole hordes of it's kind skewered upon the pikes of humans, dwarves, elves and other races, of humanoid figures taunted and flaunted their success in slaying the Wyverns for sport and for necessity, blood spilling from the Wyverns' eyes and mouths, as the laughing continued to ring louder in the beast's ears...

"Precisely. Hence the term 'folk stories'. They're meant to frighten children. nothing more. Now. Do you have any other questions, Desrium?" questioned Sheemaka, the King's eyes shimmering briefly as Septimus' own did the same, the Dragon's expression suddenly going blank, unreadable...

Memories of his past begin on enter his mind, of his family, his friends, and his rival, Chishiokoya..... days he can no longer have. In his absence, his species had been wiped out, save for himself; he would never again see the ones he held close before his disappearence. The thought of them being massacred by the homonids made him furious. However, instead of letting it control him, Nitsunobue used Anarchy's influence to make himself stronger. Black smoke began to gather in Nitsunobue's mouth, before he let out a deafening yell.

Desrium thought his response over carefully, analyzing what he had learned and contemplating their effects on his understanding. After a moment, he replied calmly "Nadum datz eu nac anwas, Sheekmaka", telling the monarch that he had no question that the king could answer in his native tongue. By doing so, he showed that he had indeed learned a great deal about his past and where he hailed from. Standing within the palace made him feel strange now that he knew that ages ago, he was the thing exiled to the very edges of society. It pained him, as now he was able to set foot into the place of royalty and speak freely, but he had nothing of value to say...

Arsenic resisted the urge to flinch, painful as the sound was. He pulled back hard on the bowstring and let go, sending his arrow hurtling at the beast from only a few feet away. The poison-tipped projectile struck the creature in the shoulder and buried itself deep, giving Arsenic time to pull another from his quiver and nock it.

Vix raised her arms to protect her face as the banshee hit her, taking only a small step out of the way; with her free hand she grasped the creature's arm, using its own momentum against it and pushing it past her. As she did so, she took the chance to slam her blade between its shoulders, aiming for the spinal cord. Ripping her dagger free, she turned to see where the next attack might come from.

If the being knew it was being pursued, it didn't seem to care. It cared equally as little about the scene it was making: A tall imposing figure adorned in pitch black armor walking through the streets of Tristan was far from a normal sight. It continued at a steady pace, though it knew it had no chance in finding the shapeshifter in such a way. Even though its purpose there was clear, as of now it had an ulterior objective: To test the people that called Tristan home. After the arrogance and disrespect it had seen in the underwater city, it needed to know just how far this infection had spread...

As the armored being moved on, both Guame and Djinn followed after it from above, both of them now able to see just what it was that was creating such an aura of evil. As they pursued it, Guame quickly took a brief look back at Djinn, who didn't notice that he was looking at her. This feeling... if what Djinn told me all those years back was true... Guame shuddered, trying to get the notion out of his mind, but it persisted. This feeling... Djinn had described it to him personally not too long after they had become aquainted with one another... and he didn't like it one bit... it was a feeling of starring nito the depths of Hell itself, of coming all too close to one that embodied ultimate evil itself...

"Megawoo, Desunka" responded the King simply. eyeing the Dragon, he sighed. "I take it you wish to know about the Hueilin?" he inquired, Septimus nodding simply. "Well, the story of the Dragon is a vague one at best. My knowledge of him is limited to the events surrounding the Disciples whose successors would be the colleagues of Desrium's creator. But I will tell you all I can" said Sheemaka, Septimus nodding appreciatively. "Start at the beginning. the first thing you can tell me about the Dragon" growled the Scholar, Sheemaka walking back to his throne slowly, sitting as Septimus followed...

"This Dragon was one of the only ones of it's kind Aster had ever seen, though I cannot speak for Aster now. The Dragon had been exploring the continent, building contacts in many places and exploring knowledge of the magical kind from the farthest reaches of Aster, and even from lands beyond the Jade Sea to the East. It had been known for it's affinity towards electricity, having more than once obliterated a person or creature for crossing it. Before it's journey beyond the Jade Sea, it had seemed very much like a normal Dragon, though it's intelligence and ability to deal with humans was almost unrivalled amongst Dragonkind, being capable of writing, alongside poetic and story-weaving abilities known to some Dragon Species" explained Sheemaka, Septimus curling his tail around his haunches as he sat, watching with interest. "When the Dragon came back however, it's strength had increased dramatically...and it's temperament had become significantly more cold. It had apparently encountered a land where demons ran free, destroying anything and everything in their way. We cannot confirm what happened, but evidently the Dragon had fought alongside some of the last humans on that continent, before retreating when all hope was lost. There are some theories as to what happened. Some scholars believed the demons had no idea what had happened to it, perhaps thinking it had died in the battle, and had made no effort to cross the Jade Sea to Aster. Others believe, perhaps a bit adventurously, that the Dragon's sheer mental ability had allowed it to erase it from their memory, or at least create an illusion that fooled them into thinking it was dead. This brings me to the part that concerns Desrium" said the King. Septimus watched eagerly, wanting to know what happened to the Dragon. Perhaps he could find a lead to find another of his kind exiled from his home. someone he could go to to learn...

"Shortly after the Dragon returned, it stopped in one of Zuppoland's coastal cities to rest before heading onwards in it's trips. Word of an Archdemon ravaging some of the factions west of Zuppoland's borders spread, and it was known that an ongoing battle was taking place between the Archdemon and Magi serving the Kingdom of Valenhad. The Dragon seemed interested, and apparently wished to investigate. However, the Archdemon came to the city first. At first it was small things. random animals going mad and attacking people, people complaining of horrifying visions, the crime-rate rising. But soon, it had sparked an unfounded rebellion, leaving the city ablaze. the Demon rose amidst the smoke and fires of the city, mocking the people and beginning to slaughter them outright. As the Magi of the Royal Guard moved to stop it, they were possessed and enslaved, systematically turning our own forces against us. flaming, robed, skeletal liches unleashed waves of necromantic and demonic magic upon the people. The City would've been destroyed if not for the Dragon" explained the King. "What happened?" asked Septimus curiously, his tail flicking from side to side, the wide fan-like tip acting to cause a light, cool draft in random directions, sometimes washing over himself and the king, others blowing against the oblivious Desrium. "The Archdemon eyed the Dragon as it tore across the sky of the city and the sky seemed to darken overhead with storm clouds. The Demon laughed and mocked the Dragon, stating that it would nevertheless be a convenient vessel for it's demonic power. The Dragon spread it's arms out, black and red streaks of magical energy swirling around in a ball between the two arms. The Dragon recited a language that no Asterian had ever heard before, and runic patterns ignited the streets and rooftops of the city below, made up of what seemed like a pentagram, an octogram and a cross in the middle. The magic was undoubtedly Demonic in origin. What happened next was anyone's guess. The Demon shrieked in fury, as if it had been burned by something unnatural, and it charged. All that was seen was the Demon leap at the Dragon, collide, and then a massive flash of red engulfed the city. the abominations created by the Demon instantly collapsed in charred husks on the ground, and the Dragon landed, panting with exhaustion, it's entire body covered in red Demonic runes, as the rain began to fall, gradually extinguishing the fires in the city. The Dragon later told the Magi that he had imprisoned the Archdemon for eternity, and that he would soon head North and create a Magical 'cage' where the Demon would be held, to keep it from gradually corrupting the vessel within which it was kept at that moment. a week later, a massive ring of tall, rectangular black marble pillars stood on the cliffs, linked by a solid marble ring overhead, turning the gap between any two pillars into an arch." said the King with a sigh, his eyes glazed over briefly, before regaining their original shade as he eyed Septimus...

"Did the Dragon have a name?" asked Septimus, excited at the revelation. "Yes. It's name was.....Arashi" said the King, Septimus' expression almost immediately collapsing into a look of horror. "Arashi?!" he responded in shock. "Yes, Septimus. Arashi" responded the King, understanding his reaction. "How can you be sure?" asked the Scholar incredulously. "The rulers of my faction have been passing on the most important memories of our people from generation to generation for the last 3000 years. Just as yours and Desrium's service to Zuppoland will be remembered, so to have the actions of many before you. Your father Arashi is one such friend to the Zuppolandian people" said Sheemaka. Septimus nodded, his head hanging, in a blend of shock and confusion. But how? He had never left the Kirrahara mountain range before! How could he possibly have helped the Zuppolandians? Coming here may have given answers to Desrium's questions, but it only created more questions for him. And worst of all...this was all the information that was known about his father. The Dragon turned, heading towards Desrium and the balcony beyond. "Thank you for your help Sheemaka. I wish you luck in the days to come" he growled. "Thank you both, Desrium and Septimus, for your help. May the Eternal Conch always watch over you" responded the King with a nod as the Dragon looked back at him, before leaving the throne room to attend to other matters as the Dragon left, grabbing Desrium and setting him on his shoulders before leaping into the air out the balcony, heading for the exit of the Inner City...

While Septimus conversed with the king, Desrium peered up at the magical window that was the ceiling. He watched as the elders and a coalition of other magic users came together in an effort to mend their shattered dome. Entranced by the gathering of mystics, the armored creation paid no mind to what went on behind him until he heard Sheemaka's last statement. "Eternal con-" Desrium muttered as he found himself plucked from the floor and placed on the dragon's back. Taking notice of his friend's haste, Desrium asked "Did the conch upset you?"

Tetto'eko only got a glimpse of the creature that had been watching him, but it didn't take a genius to figure out what was going on: the Demonic presence of this place was almost smothering. They needed to kill these Banshees and get out, before the presence became more than just an eerie feeling...

Zazikel glided through the dark skies in the direction of Draxon, his work with Trajan temporarily paused. He had attracted far too much attention. Tzeentch was already a significant enough thorn in his side, and he didn't need the creature finding out more about his plans. Fortunately, it would be no secret to the changeling that Zazikel had Draxon under his heel, so there was little risk there. He had not heard of what had become of Sammael or his plans to free Discord yet either, but he had a feeling that he would find out soon enough...

Under the cover of darkness, the Archdemon had little to fear in Draxon. Most everyone was asleep, save for some of the guards. Draco was fast asleep, tired from the night's short but intense battle. No doubt Zazikel would take notice of the shattered gate and stained stone roads going into and leaving Draxon.... not to mention the smell.

Zazikel eyed the destruction below with mild suspicion. Under attack so soon? Probably just a coincidence. These brainless oafs always fought amongst each other if they were bored enough. That would all change under his rule. He planned on waking Draco from his slumber to question him, but the Archdemon paused when he heard a hearty chuckle from above him.

"Archie! So good to see you!"

Zazikel glared up at the source of the voice and hissed, "Silence, you buffoon! Do you want to wake the entire city?!" The telltale yellow-and-red eyes and fanged grin of Discord materialized in front of the Archdemon's snout, the rest of his body still invisible. "Why yes, yes I would." Zazikel snorted. "Discord. Shouldn't you be doing something a little more important than wasting my valuable time?" The rest of Discord's body appeared, and the chimera rolled his eyes. "Oh, that? Don't worry, there's a dragon handling it." "...what." Discord laughed. "A dragon! He wants to screw with them himself, maybe kill 'em when he's done. I don't know why. I didn't bother reading his mind. But don't worry Archie, I made sure to lure them into the Shadepines before I left..."

Zazikel's eyes narrowed. "The Shadepines?" Discord nodded. "Indeed! If the Demonic presence in there doesn't kill them, the dragon will, and you don't have anything to worry about. I barely had to lift my pinkie, ha!" The Archdemon scratched his scaly chin thoughtfully. They were as good as dead in there, and that dragon, unwitting though his services may be, they were still useful. The biggest thorn in his side had pretty much been taken care of, then. He could busy himself with more important things. "Excellent... I will call Sammael back. As for you--" Discord raised his hands defensively. "Hey, I put my two gold in! This is YOUR evil plan to rule of Aster. As long as it doesn't get too... organized I don't have a problem with it, but it's not like I owe my allegiance to you or anything." Zazikel snorted angrily. "I am responsible for freeing you, and--" "And you owed me for getting you a body in the first place. I think we're even, are we not?"

The Archdemon's wings flared, his eyes flashed purple and he hissed, "Impudent whelp of a beast! You dare defy me?!" Discord seemed, at the most, slightly nonplussed. "Come now, Archie," he said, raising his hands in a placating manner. "I helped you get rid of your one major obstacle! Dontcha think that's payment enough? After all, if you're going to rule Aster with an iron fist, you need to be reasonable sometimes. Even Demons are hardly an exception to that." Zazikel glared down at the petulant, frustratingly calm Discord. The longer he thought, though, the more it made sense. He knew Discord wouldn't dare try and use telepathy to manipulate or hypnotize him, so his words were obviously just simple common sense. He could squash Discord now, or leave him be in case he needed him in the future. He would be a useful asset, not to mention a valuable distraction. Who would pay attention to rumors of an Archdemon when Discord was about doing what he did best? It was a big attention-grabber, for certain...

Zazikel leaned forward, and was satisfied to see Discord back up slightly as he did so. "If I require your assistance again, I will ask for it, and you WILL agree to my terms, is that understood?" Discord crossed his arms, rolled his eyes, and replied, "Well, since you asked so nicely, I'll see what I can do..." With that, Discord vanished again, using a flash of white light to add a flourish to his invisibility. Zazikel snorted and wheeled around, heading for Draco's palace. He had another meeting to make tonight, regardless of interruptions...

The guards at the palace know not of Zazikel's presence, save for what sounds like the beating of wings. to them, it didn't seem too much of a problem- gryphons often migrated over the city, so wingbeats rarely, if ever, bothered them....

Draco continued to sleep, Immanis tending to Formidonis in the dungeon beneath the Palace of the Draks....
