Crusher watched as the Allosaur charged. it rammed one of the elders, and sent it hurtling into the bushes, dead from the impact. it then snarled and bit onto another one, and threw it at the ones near the Triceratops. the dead elder's body hit Shadow, and the 2 tumbled for a few feet before stopping. Shadow hissed in annoyance and barked "Attack it! attack it!". Crusher growled as quietly as he could. he had a sharp eye on Exile, Rawhide and Blade. if the Allosaur neared any one of them, he'd sound a territorial roar to make it back off...

Darkness walked back into the jungle after a brief recap of what happened while he was gone. He had said his goodbyes to Hunter and Sharpclaw and now headed to a location he stayed while he wasn't in a pack. It was a small area covered in trees. It was too dense for most large carnivores. He caught a compy and layed down to rest.

Hunter had left the area, with SharpClaw close behind. they were going to try and track Scar...

So this is where your "Friends" are, are they? Scar looked into the empty cave, watching as Otalp tried to figure out what had gone wrong. The mutant had claimed he had gone in a wrong direciton or they had moved, but Scar simply thought the old raptor was senile.

Well, I don't smell anything, so either this is the wrong cave or they've moved. Come on, if we can't hide out from the Tyrannosaur, we should be able to lead it to some easier food.

Scar complied, and let Otalp lead him to a plain where a herd of hadrosaurs was sleeping. On the way there, Scar asked who Otalp's friends were. A pack of Troodons. I stumbed onto them a few decades ago when I was in a bind, and they were kind enough to help me out, after I did a quick favor for them by chasing off a foolish Albertosaur-that one was sorry he ever saw me-that had been stalking them on their night raids.

Since they're excellent cave navigators, especially in the deep caves that are like a twisted labyrinth, I've asked them to lead me through on the odd occasion. Since I never really bothered them, they always keep me surrounded by more than enough Troodons if I ever decided to attack them and I never actually saw their nest-it was too deep into the caves-I was never really anything that they had to worry about. I even became a friend with their leader, but I last saw her about 5 years ago. I even learned a few interesting facts from her when I still knew her like-ah, here comes the hadrosaur herd. Come on, I don't intend on ending up as that Tyrannosaur's next meal.[i]

Exile watched in horror as tow of the elders were savagley killed before her eyes. She barked frantically, trying to avert there attention. "STOP ATTACKING IT!!" She roared, "RUN!!" The remaining elders turned to look at ther unsure of what to do. Suddenly, Shadow ran straight for Exile and knocked her to the ground. He hissed in her ear "If you want food tonight, and don't want to be killed by this predator, or me, you'll let me handle this" Exile growled and pushed Shadow off of her. He growled as he hit the floor, jumping to his feet and disappearing into the long grass, using his stealth to his advantage. Exile growled more heavily, but knew that she had no chance against Shadow. Plus, there was no time.

Acting upon instinct, she let out a war cry, and ran full speed towards the Allo. Blade, having heard her and recognising the noise, chased after her, growingf more and more concerned as they approached the rampaging Allosaurus. Exile didn't care now. She couldn't think. All she knew was what was happening was wrong. She was prepared to stand idly by and watch her fellow raptors die.

She reached the suprised Allo, who was busy shaking a raptor in its mouth, and leapt onto it's back. It let out a mixed roar of anger, shock and pain as Exile dug her claws deep into its flesh to cling on.

The raptor in its mouth was flung aside, and the Allo started running and roaring... anything to get the raptor off of it's back

Crusher saw what had happened and decided he wasn't going to let it continue any longer. he let out a territorial rage roar, and he exposed himself. the Triceratops dragged itself onto it's feet, extremely tired but terrified, and started running as fast as it's tired and sick body could carry it. Crusher roared and charged at the Allo, which was running around with Exile on it's back. Crusher growled "Raptors! move!". the pack were in confusion, wondering who to obey, Shadow, or Crusher. in the end, Size won out, and the pack moved out of the way just in time. Crusher chased the panicking Allo, and bit onto the tip of it's tail. it swung its tail, and ended up losing a large chunk of it, which was in Crusher's jaws. Crusher continued to chase the terrified Allosaur...

Exile had been launched off of the Allo in the confusion of Crusher's arrival. She hit the floor dazed, and could just about make out all of the raptors running as fast as they could away from the scene. Suddenly, Blade came into view above, as did Rawhide. They growled at her urgently to get up, as mst of the raptors had already fled the scene. She struggled to her feet and peered through the darkness. Shadow was no where to be seen. She looked at the battle Crusher was having with the Allo. It looked positivley terrified. Crusher had obviously already won. Exile gathered her thoughts and shook her head. "C'mon, let's go" she growled at the other two "Maybe we can catch Shadow on his own before he gets back to the safety of the cave... and his followers..."

Crusher, who was annoyed by this Allosaur's determination to escape, ran at full speed, soon getting along side the Allosaur. it tried turning away from him, but it was to late. Crusher lunged for it with his jaws wide open, and they locked onto it's neck. the bite, lunge and weight of Crusher was enough to completely rip the head off, which left the Allosaur body tumbling to a stop after falling chest first to the ground. he threw the head down and crushed it with his foot, then roared a victory roar. he then chased down Exile, Blade and Rawhide...

SharpClaw continued her search with Hunter for Scar after she barked her good-byes to Darkness. As they were walking in the darkness, a bad, sick feeling was forming in the pit of her stomach. They had to get back to the pack. "Hunter, I am growing tired," she growled with a hint of weariness to her voice. "Let's head back to the cave."

Exile, Rawhide and Blade were sprinting through the undergrowth, trying their very best to find Shadow, and avoid any other large carnivores. Exile couldn't believe all the elder raptors they had lost.... all because of Shadow. A growl escaped her at the thought of him. How could he do this?

Suddenly, Rawhide leapt in front of them and stopped, causing the othrs to halt too. He hissed sliently at them, and they understood why. The breeze blowing towards them carried the scent of a raptor...

Rawhide's mind started to turn as he smelled another raptor. He signalled Exile and Blade to follow him slowly as he prepared to stalk the raptor...

Exile smelt the air. The scent was faint, but it was there never the less. She hoped inside her that it was Shadow, away from his sentries, open for attack. If it was, they all would kill him. They all hated him. And even with his night advantage, she doubted that he would survive. She hissed again silently, the bloodlust inside her was so overpowering. She peered through the leaves, and could just about make out a raptor shape by a small stream, only a few feet away.

Hunter nodded "ok. let's go. maybe my dad can help find Scar later. he knows the Island more than most other dinosaurs. if he cant find Scar, nobody can. i just hope he's free to do it. i wonder what would happen to Shadow if he got hold of him...". Hunter turned around and headed back to the cave, with SharpClaw following close behind...

Meanwhile, Crusher was moving as stealthily as he could, putting his foot down as lightly as possible, moving rather slow by normal standards. he could smell a raptor, but at the moment, he couldn't tell who it was. he could also smell Exile, Rawhide and Blade. he moved forward, and found them. he growled very quietly "Rawhide! Blade! Exile! where's Shadow!?". he wanted to see the death of that cruel, compy hearted excuse for a Raptor as much as they did. if he got hold of him, he'd rip him apart...slowly. make him suffer like he's made his pack members and friends suffer.

it was dark...things were going badly for him. his pack had scattered thanks to him. they would now see him for the fool that he was, for the traitor that he was. now, there was the possibility that the pack would rebel against him. he'd have to be even more strict with them next time. even more cruel. he didn't want his brother to lead the pack, since he didn't feel that Raptors should be friendly with rexes. he felt that Raptors were superior, and that they should control the island, not the Rexes, Spinos, Suchos, Gigas or any other of the larger predators. he didn't like exiling his brother. but he had to, to keep him from turning the pack against him. he also felt a surge of jealousy at the very thought of his brother. Scar....the raptor that had led the pack from the time that their parents disappeared, and lead them through several dangerous situations. he had lead hundreds of successful hunts. But. Scar didn't have his skill with Stealth. Shadow...the name was given to him because of his skill...but, it was obvious that that skill wasn't what was needed for a successful pack...too many of the largest predators preffered to hunt at night...they pack needed to be diurnal to survive...but backing down now, after causing so much trouble to the pack, and exiling Scar...it would take too much of a blow to his pride. he couldn't bring himself to apologize....what's been done, has been done. there was no going back now. it was lead, or leave. leaving the pack would just drive him insane, like Darkness was. he hated thinking about it "Stop it Shadow...your being ridiculous!" he thought to himself. he looked around. it was dark...no sign of a large predator...yet he felt something...he felt there was something there....

The scent seemed familiar. Rawhide was just about to jump and attack when Crusher came and asked where was Shadow. The sound of his name made him growl quietly. "He left and the pack scattered," replied the male raptor. "The pack probably went back to the cave."

SharpClaw returned to the cave only to find it empty. Everyone was gone. Shadow must be on a big hunting trip. She growled at the stupidity of the new pack leader because now the eggs were vulnerable for small scavengers. And she only had one egg left. She had to worry. "This would never happen if Scar was here," growled the female.

Exile greeted Crusher, but quietly. She wa still aware of the raptor just a few feet from them. She peered through the leaves. The raptor had gone...

She cursed angriliy, and told the others. She was so sure that it had been Shadow...

Hunter growled "That fool...he abandoned the eggs?! i'm amazed the pack didn't rip him apart right there. they're afraid of him. they only consider themselves against him. they dont think that others are upset by his actions, and worry about him ripping them apart, or even exile them, like he did Scar. i think we need something scarier than Shadow to make them fight him. they need my dad". a few minutes afterwards, the pack showed up, but 4 were missing: Exile, Rawhide, Blade and Shadow. Crusher wasn't with them either. Hunter growled "Where are the rest?". a raptor looked at him and said "Gone. they disappeared when an Allosaur attacked. your father, Crusher killed it, and went somewhere. the killing ground is to the south. go there if you want to look for them". Hunter nodded, and started walking south...

Crusher snarled "This is ridiculous! every time i think i have him, he slips away!". his colours changed. his eyes went a fiery orange/red, and a blood red patch appeared on his snout. his teeth were fully exposed, and his skin turned grey with orange stripes outlined with a rich, royal blue. he was in a VERY bad mood now...

Rampage raised her head at the sound of a snap in the nearby bushes. it was something small, but she wasn't taknig any chances. she moved the egg close to where she was resting her head, then put her head back in place, so that any predator that wanted the egg would have to risk losing it's life at her jaws...

The pair split up, Scar going stright through the middle of the sleeping herd while Otalp weaved through their numbers. They were both careful to make as little noise as possible as they slipped through the valley, as a stampede would surely devestate them. When they met at the other end of the valley, the Tyrannosaur was left standing at the other side of the sleeping herd, the brute growling in frustration as he watched his targets slip away.

Crusher made a sub sonic roar to call Hunter to him without anyone else knowing. soon, Hunter arrived. Hunter growled "What's going on?". Crusher snarled "I need you to stay with Rawhide, Blade snd Exile. i've got a plan...". Hunter nodded without hesitation. he knew that when his father was this angry, and he had a plan, it almost never went wrong. if he was planning to find either Scar or Shadow, he would. Crusher growled "If you see Shadow, contact me. make sure it's the same as the one i called you with. it's too deep for Shadow to hear, and would give you a better chance of catching him. im going to find him if it's the last thing i do". With that, Crusher turned around, and headed north east, to find Ripper...

Rampage saw who had caused the disturbance; a young Dilophosaur had wandered into Crusher's territory. it was a very rare thing, so she left it. she growled "i would keep away from this nest, the other one a few hundred feet from here, and the Raptor pack to the north west if i were you. you are free to live here, along with any family you may have, as long as you dont disrupt the raptors' or our lives. and be warned "My mate, Crusher, doesn't take kindly to predators who attack his friends. if you attack the raptors, you can consider yourself along with your family dead". it moved forward and hissed "Who is Crusher?". Rampage was a bit surprised, since she thought that Crusher had already become an island wide legend. she growled "The most dominant predator. A massive Tyrannosaur who changes colour when enraged. ask some of your elders, if you have any. they'll tell you about him". the Dilophosaur nodded. it was originally planning to spray Rampage in the eye and steal the egg, but when she warned him abou Crusher, and welcomed it into the territory, it just couldn't continue with the attack, because of a combination of fear of this mighty Tyrannosaur she told it about, and surprise at the fact that she had actually welcomed it into the territory, rather than killing it. it nodded in thanks, and left, confused, trying to understand how an attack on a larger predator turned into a friendship...

Rampage thought "I bet it wasn't expecting that...well, as long as it behaves itself, it's safe. they should help keep the newly born Bary population at a controllable level". she had done a favour for herself and the rest of the family, as well as their allies. Dilos were known as active, protective and formidable when fully grown. the poison spit as well as their odd jaw design made them very handy against small predators that Raptors and Rexes sometimes had problems with....

Hunter growled "so, Rawhide, Exile and Blade. where next?"

SharpClaw stayed in the cave with the rest of the raptors, carefully watching over her only egg. It was rather peaceful now. The females were guarding their nests carefully and sentries were standing guard. "But where are Rawhide, Blade, Exile, and Shadow. Where is Scar?" SharpClaw thought worriedly.

"We continue searching for that poor excuse for a raptor," Rawhide snarled. "Even if it takes us all night." He was clearly enraged and wanted Scar back as soon as possible.

Exile could tell that both Rawhide and Blade wanted to seek out Shadow, so they all carried on searching him out through the jungle. It was easier now, as they didn't need to be so jumpy. Three raptors out at night was a risk. Three raptors and a Rex and they had no fear.

Suddenly, they approached a clearing, a dark shape swiftly ran away from them, back into the trees. A growl escaped Exile. The chase was on...
