"An interesting way to respond to a compliment" growled Nightbane as he circled the Wolf and the juvenile behind her, slowly moving closer. "What happened to letting the pup follow you around? you suddenly decided to become an adoptive mother?" he growled, his piercing green eyes seemingly looking into the wolf's very soul...

Night's hackles rose as she glared back into the lion's green eyes. "Not a step closer," she snarled, baring her teeth threateningly. She moved so she was once more shielding Lusa with her body. "She may not be my own, but I won't stand by and watch her be killed."

Nightbane chuckled at the threat. "You're so willing to defend her" he snarled, his piercing gaze falling on both her and the young pup behind her. "I've always wondered what jungle-dwelling animals tasted like...that leaves me in quite a convenient situation and you...not so convenient" he growled with a sinister smirk...

Night let out a loud snarl, louder than most wolves could manage. She lifted her tail in a show of dominance and aggression, her ears pricked forward aggressively, her glittering dark blue eyes narrowed and her canine teeth bared. She was completely ready to take this lion on, whether she lived or not.

Nightbane simply chuckled at the Wolf's attempts to intimidate him, before letting out a booming roar, drowning out the Wolf's snarls completely. "You're out of your depth, wolf" he snarled, his gaze suddenly holding a surprisingly cold look in them. "That last wolf i had was a bit...bony....i hope you or the pup will have more flesh to offer than bone" he growled with a sinister smirk, the tint of blood still visible on his teeth...

She leaped up onto a ledge above the lion in a single bound. "...know the land here. Come and eat me, if you think you can!" She leaped away, in a series of leaps and bounds, and was soon out of the lion's range of sight.

Nightbane grunted, amused, leaping up to the ledge the wolf had got onto, spotting it running, shooting after it. the wolf knew the land, but Nightbane had the body to traverse the obstacles easily, which, coupled with his razor sharp senses, made it fairly easy to keep after the wolf. "Running? a coward's choice. as to be expected" he snarled as he shot after the wolf...

The wolf landed on a narrow ledge, sliding into a crevasse that she knew well, having explored it many times when she was a pup. She wriggled through it, intending to lose the lion fairly quickly. He didn't know the cliffs as well as she did, and the pebbles he sent clattering down the slope with every step he took meant that Night was able to disguise the noise she made under the sound of the lion's pawsteps.

Nightbane came to a stop where the wolf had seemingly disappeared. he spotted a tiny crevice, looking down at where the wolf went. "Well that was the most nervous creature i've ever come across...the moment it saw me it went aggressive...all i really wanted was a better look" he mumbled to himself as he turned back, heading back down, sniffing out the pup's trail and following it...

The crevasse came out in a cave that led to where Night spent her nights sleeping. She ran quickly towards the scent of the pup, praying the lion wouldn't get there first.
Lusa was cowering in Night's den, looking out at the surrounding cliffs, hoping that the adult wolf hadn't been killed.

Nightbane walked into the cave, eying the wolf pup with a smirk. "What's with the fearful look?" growled the Lion. "You don't honestly think i'd kill something as young as you, do you?" he snarled with a chuckle as he sat down to the side of the cave, in the shadows, being hidden in the darkness of the night. "It goes against my personal policy....unless of course...you were to do something first" he added, a sinister tone in his voice at the end of it, his voice echoing in the cave due to it's acoustics...

Night stopped suddenly as she heard Lusa's voice, and the male lion's. Damn it! she cursed mentally. She pressed herself into a shadow, listening.

Nightbane growled "Well i don't really see a reason why...Wolves and Lions almost never cross paths". he stopped grooming himself, smelling the other one's scent had been refreshed here. she was back. he made no hint that he knew, instead eying the juvenile...
