Thanatos' eyes widened. "What?!" he said desperately. "No, she can't be!" He started shaking his head. Diana looked at Drake with a concerned and worried look.

I'm sorry Thanatos... it turns out she got more battered then we thought. As much as i dont want to tell you... you should know how... her internal organs are ruptured... with internal bleeding. Nothing can be done about it... im sorry. Dreig said sorrowfully as he wiped his nose.

Thanatos' breath became labored and he kept shaking his head. He dropped the cell on the couch and made a break for the woods...! "Wow, I never knew he could run that fast," Diana said as the portraits on the walls started to rock back into place...

Dreig took a deep sighing breath, then he closed the phone and slipped it in his pocket. I dont think he took it too well, he said to Ray without turning around. What, is he coming? Ray asked. I dont know he just got off the phone. Dreig replied before dropping down into a chair.

"Looks like your friend at the hospital's in pretty bad shape" said Drake, finally remembering that one little detail from the night he met the group. picking up the phone, finding it disconnected, he sighed, putting the silver Nokia 6680 into his trenchcoat's inside pocket. "I take it they were close?" he finally said, looking over at Diana...

Thanatos burst through the doors of the hospital breathing hard. "Where's Cass' room?" he asked a nurse and she pointed him to it. He ran to the patients room and looked at Dreig and Ray. "Can I see her?" he merely asked.

"A little," Diana said. "When a vampire has his sights on a girl, they can't help getting close."

Ray nodded once towards Thanatos before sitting down next to Dreig. She's a little drowsy right now. he said to him.

Drake sighed. "Thanatos is one of the rare few....most Vampires have only two loves; blood, and the sources that supply one with it" he said. I wonder if Nyx's up yet? he thought as he contemplated heading for the hospital...

Nyx climbed down the marble stairs and looked at the entrance of the den where Diana sat on the couch and flipping on the tv with a white wolf laying its head on her lap and Drake standing not far away. "Where's Thanatos?" Nyx asked. "Cass is dying," Diana answered gloomily. Nyx gasped and put her hand to her mouth. "Oh my God..."
Thanatos walked into the hospital room and sat down next to Cass. She looked so frail and vulnerable. "Cass, I'm sorry, I'm so so sorry," he whispered and took her hand as tears pricked at his eyes. "I should've been there to protect you and Jack, and this would never have happened."

Cass groaned weakly not catching what Thanatos had said and turned her head, Thanatos... you came to see me. she smiled. She lifted her hand slowly and with some effort stroked the vampire's cheek.

"You two want to go there?" asked Drake as he looked at Nyx and Diana, pulling the keys to the Land Cruiser from his pocket...

"Don't," Thanatos said and put her hand down. "You need your strength." What for she'll die in a few minutes! said some part of him. A stray tear rolled down his cheek. "Of course I came to see you," he said. "Why wouldn't I?"

"We should," Nyx said. "Yeah for support," Diana said, she patted the wolf on the head. "Stay boy, we'll be right back," she said.

Drake walked out, hitting a button on the keys, making the car start automatically as he reached it, pulling the driver's door open and getting in, closing it behind him...

I'm glad, Cass whispered. I was afraid you wouldnt get here before i died. She coughed a little then sighed. Its good to have someone by your side when your time is coming to a close, and i'm happy it wasnt just Dreig and Ray.

Thanatos choked out a sob. They didn't even try to hide the fact that she was dying!? he thought furiously.

Nyx and Diana climbed in, expecting the worst for Thanatos and Cass

Drake backed out of the grounds, going as fast as traffic would permit, swiftly reaching the hospital, finding a parking spot and turning off the car, stepping out and locking it behind him after Nyx and Diana were out...

Cass smiled reassuringly as though sensing his frustration, Its alright, i overheard them speaking with the surgeon. Its fate, i got the short end of the straw... or is that shortest straw?
