Nyx looked at Dreig for a few moments then looked in the direction where Ray disappeared to then turned back to him. "I hope he'll be alright," Diana said, also looking in Ray's direction. Diana stepped out of the hospital and looked back up at the building. A place for healing and yet it is so cold and hopeless, she thought. She saw Nyx have the same thought pass across her face, but Thanatos just kept walking. Oh, why must everything I get into turn out wrong! Diana thought gloomily.

Drake pointed the keys at the car, the engine starting itself as they reached the doors, and climbed in. Drake waited until everyone was in, before backing out of the parking spot and heading for home...

Once they got to the mansion Thanatos walked in and locked himself in the wine cellar, perfectly fine with the prospect of drinking his troubles away. Diana walked into the den with Nyx on her heels. The white wolf looked up and wagged his tail slightly, happy that they were here, but knowing they had come back with heavy hearts. Once Diana sat down on the couch the wolf put his head in her lap and started to whimper. "You're concerned about me, aren't you boy?" Diana asked rubbing the wolf's head. He yipped an answer and licked her hand. "You still haven't named him," Nyx pointed out. Diana looked at the white wolf for a few seconds then replied, "Raksha."

Drake took a seat in one of the chairs in the den, the fireplace randomly lighting up to warm the room as he lay back, resting his head and closing his eyes tightly, a faint sting of exhaustion in his eyes from the previous night still eating at him...

Diana looked out the window and saw dark clouds approaching. "Looks like a storm," she said. "How appropiate," Nyx said and got up with a sigh. "I'm going to see if Thanatos will hand up some whiskey," she said and walked out to the cellar's trapdoor.

Nyx knocked on the wood. "Thanatos could you hand us up a few bottles of whiskey!?" she called. She heard the bolt move and Thanatos' hand came up with three bottles. "Perfect, one for each," she said and took them and went back into the den offering one to Diana and lightly tossing the other to Drake. Diana was absently flipping through the TV looking for something to watch that didn't much involve all the world's troubles, she settled on Wolf's Rain. "A little ironic isn't it?" Nyx asked looking at the screen. "Whatever works," Diana said and patted the empty space to tell Raksha he was welcome. He jumped on the couch and layed his head on her lap also watching the show.

Drake caught the drink with a free hand as he used the other to massage his neck gently, downing a mouthful of the drink in one gulp before letting the bottle rest on a table next to the chair, and continuing to massage his neck. after a short while, he opened his eyes and looked at Nyx and Diana. the current weather was perfect for the song he had in mind. "Either of you know where i can find Thanatos' guitar or a substitute?" he said...

Diana reached back behind the couch and it came out with Thanatos' guitar. "Never goes anywhere without it, he won't even leave it on the stairs," she said and passed it to Drake.

Drake took the guitar, taking a comfortable position in the chair he was in, and began to pluck at the keys slowly, a soothing, solumn, sad melody echoing from within the instrument in tune with the faint pattering of rain outside. as he started the tune, he began to recite the lyrics that years of listening and thinking had burned into his head:

"These mist covered mountains
Are a home now for me
But my home is the lowlands
And always will be
Some day you'll return to
Your valleys and your farms
And you'll no longer burn
To be brothers in arms

Through these fields of destruction
Baptism of fire
I've watched all your suffering
As the battles raged higher
And though they did hurt me so bad
In the fear and alarm
You did not desert me
My brothers in arms...
"

the tune continued to echo through the room as the solumn tune entered one of it's most melodious points...

Diana and Nyx stared at Drake. Nyx started to smile, she nver heard of a song that could better fit Drake. Raksha had raised his head and looked at Drake as well, he tilted his ears and cocked his head in interest, then Diana started stroking him again.

as Drake continued playing and the rain outside grew louder, he entered the second half of it, gently and slowly plucking at the strings and strumming to produce the melody as he sang...

"...There's so many different worlds
So many different suns
And we have just one world
But we live in different ones

Now the sun's gone to hell
And the moon's riding high
Let me bid you farewell
Every man has to die
But it's written in the starlight
And every line on your palm
We're fools to make war
On our brothers in arms
"

and with that, he entered the end of the tune, soon playing the last three notes, the whole time his eyes closed, his thoughts bound within the music, its meaning, and how it applied to almost everything around them in recent times...

Nyx couldn't believe how ironic this song was. She started to shake her head in disbelief, but listened intently. Diana seemed to be off in her own world, humming some other song while she was listening to this one...

Thanatos chugged down the last of the scotch and looked around for another, hopefully making himself drunk by the night's end. Suddenly he heard Drake's song and as he reached for the bottle he sat down quietly and listened intently, surprised by the irony in the lyrics...

Drake ended the song with a smooth series of plucked tones ending in a low note, as he opened his eyes, looking at Nyx and Diana as he began to think of the possibility of another song...but few matched this one for sheer emotion...

Before Drake could start another Diana jumped in:

Many night, we've prayed.
With no proof anyone could hear.
In our hearts, a hopeful song
we barely understood.
Now we are not afraid,
although we know there's much to fear.
We were moving mountains,
long before we knew we could.

There can be miracles, when you believe.
Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill.
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
when you belive, somehow you will,
you will when you believe.

Drake followed Diana's voice, swiftly picking up a tune, and playing to it, soon picking up a beat to go with it to keep the music in check. it didn't have the same steady rhythm that most songs he listened to had, but that could be worked around in this case...

Nyx jumped in after Diana, remembering the song she had taught her friend back in their slave days:

In this time of fear,
when prayers so often proved in vain.
Hope seemed like the summer birds,
too swiftly flown away.
Yet now I'm standing here.
My heart so full I can't explain.
Seeking faith and speaking words,
I'd never thought I say.

There can be miracles
when you believe.
Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill.
Who knows what miracles,
you can achieve when you believe,
somehow you will, you will when you believe.

Drake continued to play, getting a bit more creative with the tune now, taking the occasional moment of silence to form a more intricate entrance to the next few verses of the song...

Diana and Nyx looked at each other and smiled, they started to sing together, their voices melting perfectly with the other's:

They don't always happen when you ask.
But it's easy to give in to your fears.
But when you're blinded by your pain.
Can't see your way safe through the rain.
Thoughts of a still resilient voice,
says love is very near!

There can be miracles when you belive.
Though hope is frail, it's hard to kill.
Who knows what miracles you can achieve
when you believe, somehow you will...
Now you will!
You will when you believe.
You will when you believe.

Drake brought the song to a close with a few calming notes, finally plucking the last string, a final note coming from within the guitar. "I have no idea why you guys don't make yourselves a band with voices like that" he said as he propped the guitar up against the table, letting the neck stick i nthe angle made by the table and chair connecting...

Nyx shrugged. "Never crossed our minds," Diana said. They chuckled and knuckle touched before lounging back onto the couch. "What about you Mr. Pipes-o-Gold?" Nyx asked teasingly. "I'm sure having a career in the music arts never crossed your mind either."

Drake shrugged. "I was actually thinking of starting a restaurant of sorts after i'd taken care of some family business with a certain murderous father and the rest of his disgusting family" he said as he took another sip of whiskey, wishing Thanatos wasn't locked in the cellar so he could help himself to a bottle of blood or something stronger...
