Desh's smile widened and he held out a hand to Diana, trying to help her to her feet.

Diana smiled and leaped into his arms. "Oh Desh," she weeped against his chest. "I can't do this, I'm not strong enough!"

There was a hissing laugh, and Desh's eyes, turned bright white, his sweet smile turning into an evil grin. His embrace tightened, and his skin became clammy and bone-white. Soon, he had turned into the Nightmare. The Demon released Diana, but then wrapped his talons around her throat, lifting her in the air, choking her for a moment, before tossing her a short distance away like a rag doll.

Diana shook off and snarled, her eyes glowed orange, not really knowing to turn yellow or red. She lept at the Nightmare her claws catching it's shoulders and knocking it to the ground.

The Nightmare hissed and kicked upward, slamming its taloned feet into her gut and sending her flying. It rose to its feet, staring at Diana menacingly.

[Shade]

Diana snarled fiercely, though her tears could tell otherwise that she was still stung by the way the Nightmare had manipulated her! "Come on ugly," she growled and stood back up.

The Nightmare stalked forward, hissing nonstop, eyes glowing ever brighter, skin shifting subtly between black and white. Its claws flexed hungrily, and a shadowy flame appeared in each one. It flung two dark balls of flame at Diana, which homed in on her unerringly...

[Shade]

Diana's eyes widened and she dodged the dark fireballs at the last second. She growled and leapt at the Nightmare again. "Is that all you got?!" she snarled and dug her claws firmly into it's skin!

The Nightmare backhanded Diana, sending her sprawling. It placed a clawed foot on her stomach, drawing pinpricks of blood, which leaked from the wounds freely, both in the dream and in the real world. Keeping its foot there, it leaned down and wrapped its claws around her throat, cutting off her air supply, slowly strangling her...

Diana struggled against the Nightmare weakly. She gripped the clawed hand around her throat and tried to pry it away. Suddenly another snarl came and a white wolf slammed into the Nightmare and knocked it to the ground, before it could do any damage the wolf leaped away and started growling at Diana's side. I knew you got yourself into trouble, but I didn't think it would get this bad! said a voice that seemed to echo through the whole space, but not. "Wha-?" But before Diana could get her words out, the wolf leapt at the Nightmare again and dug it's teeth into the Nightmare's arm!

The Nightmare screeched and swung its arm with incredible force, sending the wolf flying before it could get a good grip. Turning to Diana once more, it leaped at her, swinging its claws at her gut.

The wolf landed painfully on it's side and snarled as it got to it's feet. Diana dodged the claws just in time, but they tore her shirt open. The wolf leaped up and dug it's claws into the Nightmare's back and dug it's teeth in the back of it's neck!

The Nightmare screeched, reached over, grabbed the wolf by the scruff, and flipped it over its head, slamming into the now-rocky ground repeatedly. It let the bruised and bleeding wolf lie on the ground, then turned back to Diana, slashing her across the face and leaving three deep slash marks. The blow also sent her spinning around and collapsing.

Diana gripped her now bleeding face. "What do I do?" she whispered. "If you don't like the dream, change it!" said the voice again. Change it? She opened her eyes and looked at the wolf and out of the corner of her eye she saw a silouette of someone who was familiar to her. "Vincent?" she whispered. "Change it," he whispered back. She looked away slowly and closed her eyes tightly. Soon everything was red again and the burning pain was ragin through her. She hoped that the pain was also raging through the monster in front of her...

The Nightmare looked around at the sudden change of appearance, and hissed angrily. It would not let its prey steal control. He lunged for her, pinning her to the ground and slashing again and again, trying to rip her to pieces.

Diana screamed as the claws hit her again and again. She wanted to project the pain into the Nightmare, she could feel the pain leave her, then her hands gripped the wrists of the clawed hands and started to force them back. "Get outta my head, h***spawn!" she shriecked and tossed it off of her!

The Nightmare hit the ground rolling, but instead of standing, it struggled on the ground, body glowing a bright red for a moment, hissing and shrieking in pain. Soon, however, the glow dissipated, and the Nightmare leaped to its feet, the glow in its eyes almost blinding, blue smoke leaking out of them and trailing into the air. With an angry hiss, it bounded forward, punching Diana in the gut, the force of the blow sending her into the air with the wind knocked out of her.

Diana doubled over and clenched her stomach, trying to regain her breath. Vincent done with sitting around, got to his feet and charged at the Nightmare. He barreled head-long into it and sliced it's face with a pocket knife! "Change it again!" he called, then went back to slicing at the Nightmare...

Thanatos woke up some time later and felt a lump on the back of his head. "Ouch," he said, then looked at Diana. She had blood leaking out of her arms and stomach, but the scratches were already healing. But it still frightened him. "Oh how could I have been so stupid!!" he said and sat on the edge of Diana's bed. "Come on, Di, show that h***spawn what for!"

Th Nightmare flailed wildly, choking smoke leaking from its wounds and enveloping Vincent, allowing the Nightmare the regain control. The dream turned into some sort of dark, barren wasteland, made up of large, foreboding rock formations. The Nightmare lashed out with a claw, ripping a huge gash in Vincent's chest, hopping back to avoid any sudden counterattack.

Vincent hissed and rushed at the Nightmare again. Diana regained her breath, but she couldn't control the image much. So she shook it off and then charged at the Nightmare as well. The one thing she could control was what weapons she possessed. She took out her old whip and cracked it at the Nightmare's back, just as Vincent sliced it's arm!

Nyx entered the room and looked at Thanatos holding Diana's hand and staring at her face intently. "How's she doing?" she asked. Thanatos shook his head. "I'm sure we'll find out eventually," he said...
