"Lashing out at those close to you will only drive them further away. personally, i don't see the point in this argument at all. if it's only going to make you turn on your friends, then i'd rather put an end to it now" he said calmly, his gaze moving from Diana, to Thanatos, and finally, to Nyx, to whome his gaze had softened slightly. "We have a Demon in our midst who intends to play on our experiences, be it good or bad, to harm us. destroying our friendships will only make things worse" he added, before finally walking past Diana, not even looking at her as he went past, calmly walking past the doorway where Mike had been, and heading for the stairs. if Diana wanted to truely damage the relationships between them, she was definately heading in the right direction. Drake held no blame for either Nyx or Thanatos, both of whome knew enough to see his point, whereas Diana was so locked up in her own opinions she refused to take anyone else's...

Diana felt the tears prick at her eyes, but she refused to let any escape. She dissolved into her wolf form to not let them see her face contorted in anger, sorrow, and self-loathing. She followed behind Thanatos, who didn't look at her either, he was either too shameful or afraid that she might lash out again, probably a combination of the two. Nyx was right beside Drake, she saw the look Drake had given her before he turned away. How she longed for someone to look at her like that. There was someone who did, but who knew if he was coming back or if he wanted to come back. She started to whimper, but then she caught it in her throat, but not without having one whine escape. Thanatos looked at her with concern, but she just pushed him aside and continued on. "So what's the plan?" Nyx asked after a while.

A voice hissed in Diana's head, "Yesssssss... Show them that they are usssselesssssss to you... They don't like you, sssssso why should you return such kindessss?"

"Ah, screw this. You deal with this d*** thing," snapped Velkor. He walked after Drake, shaking his head and sighing. "Some people can be so emotional..."

Diana stopped for a second, then shook her head in annoyance and kept trotting on. Thanatos was worried. Diana had said she would leave a few times already, but this time she sounded serious, probably once they got out the door, she would head towards the farthest city and never come back or go searching for that guy she keeps whispering in her sleep. "You okay?" he asked. Diana growled then made a small yip as a sign that she was fine. "You sure?" he asked again. This time there was only the growl and he backed off.

Because he tries to comfort me when I need it, Diana thought. Why do I need these people, if I'm supposed to have some "great destiny" why do I need these people dragging me down?

Diana stopped dead in her tracks. Kill them?! She may not like them as much as she did way back when, but she didn't want to kill them! Drake maybe, the urge to do so was sometimes overwhelming, but she held back for her and for Nyx's sake. Nyx would be devestated if anything happened to him and she might turn on her, seeking revenge. Thanatos, needed to live, he was needed in the world. You didn't find alot of vampires like him now-a-days. No, no I won't!! she thought defiantly.

Suddenly she melted into her human form. "Get outta my head!!!!!" she screamed and gripped her head hard. "Why do you choose me, why does everyone choose me? LEAVE ME ALONE!!!" she screamed desperately.

Thanatos and Nyx immediately turned and ran towards Diana. Thanatos touched her arm with worry. "Di, are you okay?" he asked. "Diana talk to us, girl!" Nyx said, kneeling down. "It's inside me," Diana breathed and closed her eyes tight.

"No, never!!" Diana cried and started to shrink away from her friends' touch. "Diana, look at me!" Thanatos ordered. Diana's eyes snapped open and she started into the deep dark depths of his eyes. "Listen to me, I know it's been hard, I know you dislike us for not taking your side as often as we do with Drake, but we still care, that's why we take his side, he can help and most importantly you!" he said. It was only his voice now that flooded her ears and his eyes that she was drowning in, she almost forgot about the Nightmare. "I don't know what it is about you, but I know that you are greater than any of us, maybe even greater than the Vampire Lords, but you have to prove that and you have to open your eyes, your mind, and your heart to make that happen!"

Diana flinched and closed her eyes. "You can destroy it, you just have to open up," Thanatos whispered. Diana closed her eyes tighter. Get out of here! she growled in her head. Get back to you hellhole! She conjured up the red dream again projecting all the burning pain at the Nightmare, letting the fire consume it and the thirst drive it to madness!

"DO NOT DEFY ME!" The creature hissed again, the pain rebounding back to Diana's mind. "Sssssuffer for your insssssssolence!"

Diana hissed back and started to writhe with the pain. "This is my head and that means I'm in charge!" she growled through gritted teeth. "Open up," Thanatos repeated. Open up? Diana thought, then suddenly a thought occured to her. She started to conjure up images, Desh's kiss, Thanatos' one-on-ones, her's and Nyx's duet, happy, loving images.

Thanatos' party, Fitz's jokes, Trix's attitude, seeing Desi again... The images kept on rolling through her mind's eye. Every happy image she could conjure, even some happy dreams flitted through.
