"Be patient, Stormheart. you'll see soon enough" growled Wraith. he then pawed a thicker twig out of the pile, knocking it so that it was obviously seperate from the rest. this one was probably twice as wide, and bound to be tougher to break, but still breakable. "Now, break this one" growled Wraith calmly...

Stormheart growled to himself and picked it up. It took a bit longer and much more teeth nashing but he finally got it to snap.

Wraith nodded in satisfaction. he then knocked the last twig over. this one was so thick it would barely fit in Stormheart's mouth if he tried. there was no way it could be broken. by the looks of it it had been chopped by twoleg tools...nothing else could've broken something so thick and yet short enough to be liftable by a cat...

Stormheart stared at the branch with an exasperated look. "There's no way I'll break that!" he meowed in frustration and backed up a bit.

Wraith smirked. there was a few twigs seemingly tied together a few feet away from the pile, the twigs together being roughly the same strength as the branch that he had just shown Stormheart. "what about that?" he growled, raising a paw and pointing in it's direction...

Stormheart hissed. "No, I could never break that!" he hissed.

Wraith nodded. "What can you see, in that?" growled Wraith, Nightclaw now staring intently, his eyes widening slightly as he realised what it meant...

"There's more of them, so it's stronger & harder," Stormheart meowed. Then his ears flattened on his head in understanding and frustration.

Wraith smirked. "Exactly. In unity, there is strength. United, you stand. Divided, you will fall. only when united with your siblings, with Sunclaw and Nightclaw, will any of you be considered powerful. you may individually be strong, but without your siblings to support you, you are nothing. Don't lose their support by constantly arguing with them over trivial things. this goes for you too, Nightclaw" growled the tom as he looked at his sons. "Skill, strength, speed and intelligence may be valuable assets, but they all fall second to teamwork. without that, even the mightiest will fall"...

Stormheart sat down and let his fur lie back. "I see," he said simply. Unbeknownst to the group, Shadelight snuck swiftly and silently in the still dark treetops. She smiled at Stormheart, she could see that he truly did see what Wraith was talking about.

"Your mother and I won't be around to watch over you and guide you forever. even as Warriors you'll need someone to go back to when nobody else will help. but when we're gone, you'll have no one but your brother and sister to support you. if you damage those ties now, one day you'll find yourself alone...with nobody to help you or support you. and i can tell you that THAT is worse than any Clan war, and more painful than anything any lone enemy can do. i hope you won't have to experience it at all" growled Wraith as he looked between the two young Warriors. Nightclaw lowered his head, somewhat ashamed that he had even got involved in arguments with his brother, even if more often than not it was Stormheart's short temper that started it off. he knew that his father was speaking from experience, and he could tell that they had been among the most painful days of his life...

Stormheart also lowered his head then turned to his brother. "Nightclaw, I apologize for my temper, I can't help it sometimes," he mewed. "Forgive me?"

Nightclaw looked at his brother, a smile gracing his features for the first time that day. "You don't even need to ask". Wraith looked on, happy that Stormheart had been brave enough to apologise. in some cases, it took more courage to do that than it did to enter battle...especially to those with such a sense of pride as Stormheart. Wraith tilted his head upwards, staring at the tree tops, giving Shadelight a quick glance and a smirk before looking back down, on the pretence that he had been looking at the sky...

Stormheart smiled back and nodded. "Is there anything else, I was doing a bit more hunting to stock up before leaf-bare," he meowed. Shadelight smiled back and crouched down a bit lower so that her sons wouldn't see her.

Wraith grunted. "If you want to hunt, go ahead. we'll be back at the camp a few hours after dawn" he growled, turning to head off in the direction of the border, to continue his morning out-of-territory patrol...

Stormheart nodded and trotted into the bushes, then slowed to a crawl as he got farther away. Shadelight jumped from the branches and landed smoothly on the ground. "I say that got through to him," she purred as she walked over to her family.

"Let's hope it sticks though" growled Wraith. Nightclaw stared surprisedly at his mother. "How long were you listening, mum?" he meowed, his head cocked to the side in curiosity...

"Long enough," Shadelight purred simply. She licked a paw and swiped it across her face. "I saw Stormheart's lesson and I saw his apology."

"I wish Sunclaw could've been here as well. i wanted all of you to see and learn this lesson, not just Stormheart" growled Wraith...

"I think Sunclaw understands it more than you'll ever know," Shadelight purred again. "Besides she needs all the rest she can get if she has to keep these two from tearing each others' fur out." She batted Nightclaw's ear teasingly.
