One of the commandoes spotted movement in a dark corner of the gigantic room's walls, but couldn't get a good bead on it. The droid kept his eyes on the area, however, finger on the trigger in case of another attack...

Spectre pointed his other arm at one side of the hyperdrive, a small disc shooting out before sinking into the catwalk silently, behind the commandos. Pointing it at the other side of the hyperdrive, another disc shot out and sunk into the catwalk, once again without a sound. From Spectre's back, a small projectile shot into the air, coming into view of the security drones behind him, making it look like a lobbed grenade from above, the projectile exploding in a fountain of bright light, blinding machine and organic alike temporarily. "What the hell was that?!" Spectre droned, whirling around as his own vision adjusted from the attack...

The droids looked around in surprise after regaining their sight, waving their rifles, though the commandoes were more watchful, keeping their eyes on the walls. "I dunno," one of the commandoes remarked. "It didn't do anything though, and from what the Sangheili have given us, Yanme'e don't use grenades or explosives of any kind. Keep your guard up. Maybe they sent in Rangers..." All droids in the TGDA had been uploaded with information on Covenant troop types after their first encounter with the Sangheili, and the debacle involving the Covenant and Flood...

"Damn it...A little information on what we are dealing with would've been helpful." Spectre droned in response, not really knowing what they were talking about. Finishing his diagnostics, Spectre moved to the opposite side of the column, spying the small device disrupting the equipment. Pulling out one sword, he used it to pry it off of the hyperdrive, flinging the device off the catwalk, though the hyperdrive wasn't operational yet. "Come on, lets get back to Grievous, it should be working now." he droned, walking back toward the security droids, passing by them as the charges placed at the base of the equipment were detonated, tearing two massive holes into the column, making it in need of very serious repairs, while causing the catwalk surrounding it to break apart, dropping the commando droids off into the abyss below. "Son of a b*tch...Something here has explosives...rangers or whatever they called them. We have to tell Grievous...this just got a lot more complex." Spectre droned, stumbling forward up the catwalk from the explosions...

A grappling cable launched through the air, attaching to the wall and pulling one of the commandoes from near-death. The other had fallen to its destruction, however. As the commando got up to the doorway, the cable retracted back into the droid's wrist, and he droned, "Well, that's just perfect. Come on, let's get back to Grievous. He'll probably order some Buzz Droids down here to repair the damn thing." He walked through the doorway, followed by the security droids, heading back to the bridge. Unknown to the party, the creature from before watched the entire scene, curious as to why they had left the Hyperdrive wrecked...

Grievous looked down at a console as a droid said, "General, the Hyperdrive's been physically damaged." Cursing, the cyborg looked over at another console, where the group was being tracked, seeing them heading back to the bridge. "They better have a good explanation for this..."

Spectre followed the droids back toward the bridge of the ship, remaining fully alert and ready, in case more of the aliens appeared during their trek back to Grievous...

When the droids arrived on the bridge, Grievous growled, "What happened to the Hyperdrive?" "We're not sure, sir. Some sort of explosive, probably placed by the Drones, damaged it. "Drones? Great. Are they all dead?" "I believe so." "Send out Buzz Droids and a squad of commandoes to guard them. I want the Hyperdrive operational as soon as possible!" The commando nodded and walked off the bridge, and Grievous looked at Spectre. "I'm guessing you failed to see anything?"

"Nothing the droids haven't already reported. It seems they wanted us to go down there...something compelled them to place the explosives." Spectre droned thoughtfully...

"What could they possibly want us down there for?" replied Grievous curiously. "Drones aren't that smart, and neither are Brutes. What could they possibly have planned for us?"

"Possibly to get us all killed? Its not exactly hard to understand. They lure us down there via disabling the hyperdrive, and detonate the explosives in order to try and kill whoever came to investigate. Most likely an attempt on your life, General." Spectre droned, folding his arms...

"The Covenant hardly know of my existence," said Grievous, tapping his clawed foot. "Maybe their new leader has some history with me, but who could it be?"

"Very possible. I know very little about these Covenant types, so I am not much use here where information is concerned." Spectre droned, glancing at the various parts of the Malevolence's bridge. "Or its possible it was just a last-ditched effort to disable your ship. Possibly supplied information from an outside source...Revan, or the Maricans perhaps?" he added, shrugging...

From the bleak space around the crippled flagship, a number of massive machines arrived from hyperspace, resembling gigantic turbo batteries with legs, almost crab-like in appearance, while their backs were covered with the gargantuan turbo laser batteries, floating toward the Malevolence, a single massive visor spanning the length of their "face", flickering as it studied the flagship's condition...

Grievous crossed his arms, about to speak, but a droid cut him off. "Sir, a number of ships have appeared! Unknown classification!" "Charge the ion cannons, but don't fire until we know they are not a threat." Turning to Spectre, Grievous snarled, "Looks like a new enemy on my hands..."

As the commando squad arrived at the bridge, Buzz Droids scuttling amongst them, they all stopped, watching the strange, pink, gas-bag-like alien that was tinkering with the damaged Hyperdrive with its six tentacles, hovering at the damaged site and completely ignoring the droids. A commando raised his rifle, but their leader, OOM-224 stopped him. "No, don't shoot! It seems to be repairing the Hyperdrive. Get eh Buzz Droids up there. This will definitely speed up the process..."

"Oh joy...more friends of yours." Spectre droned, looking out at the space in front of the flagship.

General Grievous, stand down all offensive positions and await boarding. Resistance will result in the destruction of the ship, including all who remain within. an electronic message read to the Malevolence, originating from the lead machine...

"And exactly what would be the purpose of this boarding?" asked Grievous, trying to buy time, having been given the information about the alien from OOM-224 though his antennae...

Removal from the vessel. The vessel itself will be spared, should you accept. another message answered. Suddenly, the Malevolence lurched forward, throwing many off balance, Spectre bracing himself against the wall to keep from falling over, two plasma shells having slammed against the Malevolence's backside, aimed at their propulsion systems, which were damaged from the explosions, taking advantage of the flagship's weakened state, the attackers surprisingly not the machines that surrounded the flagship. We apologize for that, but you are not permitted to leave. another message appeared after a few silent moments...

Grievous narrowed his eyes, thinking hard. "Very well. I will come quietly. But first, answer me this: why me?"

To lure our true target. You will not be a prisoner; you will be forced to remain within our secure locations, but will be given quite comfortable accommodations, I assure you. another message explained, the lead machine drifting forward, latching its legs onto the top of the Malevolence...

Grievous, after a few long moments, nodded. "I guess I have little choice but to believe that. Send your boarders to the bridge, but do not attack any of my soldiers, or I will be forced to retaliate."

Understood General. It is refreshing to see some sense in the galaxy. they responded, the Malevolence shaking once more as the machine plunged a pod through the craft's surface like a knife, injecting the pod, similar to that on Transhoda, into an uninhabited part of the ship. Finding itself jammed in a corridor, the pod opened with a hiss, unleashing its occupants into the ship.

"I recommend that you wait here..." Spectre droned, arms still folded, waiting for the boarding party to arrive...
