looking up at the moonlit sky, the young man sighed. he had only just returned from a 'hunt' outside of the city. he had finally taken down the organisation whose actions had led to him being completely alone since he was a child. it had been a winding, difficult road, and he had gained some skills as a result. no longer was he totally dependant on his powers. now he had skills to use in case they failed. and yet, still, he felt something was missing. life till now had been a simple revenge streak with nothing else worth mentioning. he lived on bare minimums, and typically made the homes of criminals he killed his temporary haven. what little money or food he found there he usually rationed until he found another apartment. it was a disgusting living considering the kind of things said apartments were usually located and used for, but it rarely mattered. the only thing he used them for was a source of sustinence. he missed his old apartment with the large windows and gentle breeze, clean tables and comfortable bed, warm showers and tasteful decoration, but he knew that if he stayed there he'd eventually be attacked by some randomer looking for a fight, as had happened repeatedly before he left. still, it was locked up and he made sure a portion of his income was given to keep it in his name, just in case he needed it in the future. he was never too picky about how he lived. in the end it was only a short few decades before this life was over and whatever was after that came. why waste time complaining about how one lived when it was only going to be felt for such a short time? so instead he benefitted others in the city by preying on the small time thugs that plagued it. in that way, he got his sustinence via whatever they had in their apartments or rooms in eedy motels, and the citizens of this metropolis were left one criminal less any time he needed to move. as Gaara looked up at the darkness above, he wondered what his parents would be thinking if they could see him now....and what his brother would do if he were alive.....

Meanwhile, in the penthouse suite of Electrotek Inc.'s HQ, Don Valentino sat back and relaxed., pleased at his most recent achievement. using a few sneaky tricks and some planted intel here and there, he had both maneuvered himself and all he owned out of the way of a vengeful kid AND, given said kid a map to each and every one of his former rivals. he had successfully wiped out all the Order's executives and paved the way for himself as the new head of the Organisation, as well as put all those he deemed worthy in a position to take an Executive seat for themselves. he had the Order in the palm of his hands, he had evaded any risk posed to himself, and nobody in the world could ever hope to untangle the enormous mess of lies and half-truths he'd weaved. he had literally created a truth he wanted, to replace one that was originally there. and now, with the number of failsafes, it'd be impossible to follow the trail back to him. even the way he had applied these decoys were via a ghost identity leading to an Official down in Brazil. so even if someone figured out that the Order still had someone in leadership, it would be the Brazilian official that ended up taking the blame rather than himself. life was good, and ripe for the taking...though he was considering leaving for a city less plagued by these...mutants, than this...perhaps LA....or San Diego....perhaps in Washington...maybe even out of the country...

Ira sighed, rubbing at the bridge of her nose. She was trying her best not to lose her temper at the older teen, but she'd expected to see some progress by the fifth time she'd had Yoruichi try this. Alright, alright...no reason to get angry... But she was getting angry. And if she lost her temper now...well, it wouldn't be pretty. "You're fighting your fire," she muttered. "You don't want to lose control, so you try to suppress the flame...and put yourself at greater risk of actually losing control." She'd done it herself once upon a time, until she realized fire was warmth and protection...and good at killing slowly. But telling Yoruichi about her history of violence...yeah. Out of the question. "Try it again," she said. "And this time...relax." Their fire wouldn't hurt them if they didn't try to cage it. It was a part of them. But she doesn't seem to get it. Yoruichi sighed. "How about we go flying for a bit?" she asked. Ira narrowed her eyes. "Avoiding your fire won't make it go away you know," she said. Yoruichi flinched, and the younger of the two relented with a sigh. "Fine. But only for a little while. And if we're spotted..." She left the statement open, leaving Yoruichi to imagine what would happen. Ira stepped to the door, pulled it open, stepped outside, and let her wings tear out of her back. A moment later, she launched herself into the sky, followed closely by Yoruichi.

The blue plated craft pointed back towards the sandy ground, descending with a gentle curve. Sand was blown away as the craft descended neared the ground. Three short silver landing gears slid down out of the ship. Each gear had a landing ski at the bottom. The ship slid across the ground, moving behind a rock face. It came to a stop there, in the shadow of the formation. It was 3 AM at the Nevada boarder. Galaak would spend the rest of the night here. The coffee buzz had worn off and the alien was exhausted. He got out of his seat, the bright lit display modules suddenly shut off, leaving black screens. The sphere of light also disappeared. A black panel slid down the wind shield on the outside. It absorb light like a solar panel, but prevented it from entering the craft. There was only that dark red glow on the inside. The alien pilot was down the body of the craft. He pressed his hand on the wall that was to his right. There was a soft hiss as the wall panel flipped out, a bed revealed on it. Galaak sat down on it, taking off his black bloots, revealing his clawed, webbed feet. He put the boots at the end of the bed, side by side. He then forced his way up the bed, which was covered in a strange cloth that covered the mattress. It didnt warp with movement, so the bed didnt have to be made up everyday. Galaak then turned to the compartments revealed by the open wall, opening a transperent drawr and pulling out a circular pillow. He rested his head on it as he laid on his side, and drifted off to sleep soon after...

Ira felt herself relax as the cool night air hit her face. What was one more failed attempt? She had plenty of time. She started a steep banking turn, waiting until Yoruichi had joined her to head closer to the city. Sure it was bad manners, but scaring a human or two was great fun. She glanced at the red-eyed teen. She's not afraid of flying, Ira thought, frowning faintly. But she's afraid of her fire. Will I ever understand this girl's mind? She sighed, pulled in her wings, and shot forward. There was a startled shout from Yoruichi, and then the older teen was flying beside her. Ira looked at her with a small smirk. "Want to see something that's a lot of fun? Keep your eyes open." She located a young woman, narrowed her eyes, and dove. She allowed herself to get within three feet of the woman's head, then snapped open her wings, angled her body upwards, and rocketed back into the sky. The woman screamed and ducked, obviously expecting something to hit her. Ira was already a skyscraper's height above her head, though, allowing herself to laugh quietly. Yoruichi circled around to meet her. "I thought you were going to hit the sidewalk for sure!" she breathed, her red eyes very wide. Ira smirked at her. "Nah. I'm too good at this game to let myself become a bloody pancake. Want to try?" Yoruichi bit her lip, undecided. It did look like fun...but they were pretty close to the city now. There was a risk they'd be spotted. She shook her head. "Some other time, maybe."

as he sat back on the roof of the apartment building, he spotted a couple of winged figures in the distance, one diving suddenly then shooting back up over the canopy of the concrete jungle. curious, Gaara stood, the man disintegrating into grains of sand, splitting apart so that they were hardly visible, seeming more like a dust cloud than anything...

Ira circled around, watching her victim. The poor girl looked confused and traumatized. The amber-eyed teen snickered. "She looks like she's about to have a heart attack," she commented to Yoruichi. Yoruichi looked torn between wanting to laugh and wanting to know if the stranger would be alright.

There was a skidding noise as someone slid a stop not far from the tormented lady. The boy in white and blue commented "Well this is something you dont see everyday...well, often... but not everyday" He cracked his knuckles. His blurry streak disappeared First Maelstrom, and now...this? Today was strange day indeed...

as the sands neared, Gaara, as a conscience, took note of the human below, amusement striking him. had he been solid he would probably have chuckled, though for now, he was left floating as a cloud of dust not far from the two Demons, one of which he recognised as Yoruichi. still curious, he decided to follow for a while, not wanting to show himself....yet...

"We should head back," Ira said after a moment of silent amusement. "Can't afford to stay out too long, especially after that." She laughed again, still replaying the moment over in her head. "Plus, I want you to get the hang of calling your fire." Yoruichi let out a groan. "You know, playing with fire isn't something I look forward to," she called to Ira, who had already started back towards the house. "Keep up, thin-blood!" Ira called back. "Or you'll get left behind!" With a growl, Yoruichi put on some speed to catch up.

"Well that was...anticlimactic..." SpeedFreak said as the mutants left. "Atleast they didnt try to kill her...." He muttered to himself as the woman ran down the street, screaming. The hero shook his head. "Boy did I decide to break out of that car late..." He leaned against the wall of a conveniance store, intending to take a breather before he ran off again

Gaara, not wanting to lose track of an old ally, decided to pursue. at this point, the sand was accelerating to keep up. he wanted to know the position of an old friend's possible headquarters...perhaps in the future he could find such information useful...

Without warning, Ira snapped her wings shut and went into a freefall above her home. She ignored Yoruichi's gasp, ignored everything but the rapidly approaching ground. At the last second, she unfurled her wings and landed neatly on her doorstep. She smirked when Yoruichi joined her a few seconds later. The red-eyed teen was even paler than normal, if that was possible. "Get used to it," Ira offered in the silence with a shrug. "I like thrills." Yoruichi shook her head and let out a long sigh. "A little more warning, next time?" Amber eyes glittered wickedly. "Perhaps. Go inside before you fall over." She grinned widely when the other demon had gone. "Worth it. So worth it," she added to herself, stretching her wings as far as they would go with a pleased sigh.

just then, right in front of Ira, a floating head of sand seemed to form, the brown lump morphing in colour so that the top became red hair, the eyes taking a black outline that semed to be naturally evil looking, an evil looking smirk showing, white teeth showing in the mid of the sand lump which quickly took on the skin colour of Gaara. "Hi" said the floating head...

Ira felt her eyes widen. Unconsciously, she took a step back, and fire was in her hands before she could stop it. Her wings flared outwards. It was an automatic intimidation response even though Ira was incapable of using her tongue at the moment.

a low chuckle came from the sand head as more sand swirled around Ira, collecting around the head in the form of a dense cloud of sand levitating below it. "Jumpy, i see..." said the head as it levitated, currently inactive. he had seen Yoruichi in demon form before, and the sight of this one hardly frightened him...

Ira clenched her fists, smothering the flames. She took in a deep breath and closed her eyes. Calm down...it's not the first time you've seen a disembodied head... she reminded herself grimly. Admittedly, the first time one has talked to you, but definitely not the first you've seen in your lifetime. "I have to be," she said simply, opening her eyes again. Everything was surrounded by a faint blue haze. It had been since she'd let her wings out.

suddenly, the mouth stretched to impossible proportions, the teeth turned into fangs and the eyes widened menacingly as the head lurched forward right at Ira, threatening to collide with her face...

Ira jerked her head back with a somewhat frightened snarl, baring her own fangs even as she felt herself pale. Her wings flared again, the talons glinting in the moonlight. She felt warmth in her fingertips and knew instinctively that her fire was urging her to let it out. To let it defend her. But this time, she held it in.

the head exploded into a cloud of dust on contact with Ira's face, barely causing a faint sting before disappearing...

Ira let out a low hiss, folding her wings. She reached up to rake her fingers through her bangs. She felt shaken. No, not the first time she'd seen a disembodied head. No, not the first time she'd seen such grotesque things. But definitely the first time she'd gotten so shaken up over it. She sighed and turned to open the door. As she stepped into the house, her gaze fell on Yoruichi, who had already pulled her wings into her back. Ira did the same, fixing her gaze on one of the paintings and allowing herself to get lost in thought as the blue haze faded away.
