Where good and bad RPGs and E-wars go to die.

"the previous night Snowstar and I were considering a few issues regarding the Clan's welfare and improvement" he meowed to the Clan as he stood, pacing slowly as he eyed each and every one of them, gauging their reaction on what he was to say. "as you all know by now, Fireflower, Flamesight, Smokestorm, Swift and Demontalon returned yesterday. some of you may have noticed Demontalon was injured. what many of you don't know however, is that it was thanks to a few specific skills she had been taught as an Apprentice in the practices of Medicine Cats, in the treatment of wounds and ailments that saved her life, and kept her healthy long enough for her to get here and be treated by Cloudhaze. now, in light of that fact, Snowstar and I have decided that Heatherpelt, Springtail and Shadelight, all three former Medicine Cats for one reason or another, should not be allowed to have their skills go to waste. I have asked, and they have agreed, that they become Mentors for the entire clan, in the treatment of wounds, so that one day, with luck and with Starclan's guidance, every cat in the clan, from Apprentice, to Warrior, to Leader, to Elder, will know how to take care of themselves if need be" he growled, his amber gaze watching the cats carefully, focused on their reaction...

Nightclaw listened in, awe-struck. while he knew it was just like his father and Snowstar to be thinking of ways to help the clan, he hadn't guessed they'd've had a plan regarding that, on the same day Heatherpelt had told him about how she felt useless and that she wasn't doing all she could for the clan. perhaps it was more obvious than he thought? he didn't know what to say, and for now, was content to hear what the more senior warriors had to say...

Demontalon felt eyes turning to her, raking her fur, lingering on the wound. She lowered her chin and avoided everyone's eyes, trying to block out the murmurs of surprise. Really, was it so unusual?

Robinflight let out a low, thoughtful hum. It did sound like a good idea. He turned to Poppytail and murmured, "What do you think of this?" Her blue eyes glittered. "It sounds like another crazy idea only Shadowsoul could've come up with," she meowed, her tone faintly amused. "And one of the best ideas I've heard all season." Robinflight chuckled softly.

Lightstorm caught Heatherpelt's eye and smiled at her, hoping that maybe now she wouldn't feel so out of place. "More lives would be saved if injured cats knew how to care for themselves and others," Swift meowed thoughtfully, thinking of Sunstorm and Blazeheart. He cocked his head, narrowing his eyes a bit, looking forward to the experience. "Why not," he mewed, shrugging.

"Well, it's certainly something new," meowed Smokestorm loudly enough for everyone to hear. "I agree with Wrai-- er, Shadowsoul!"

Renny continued his trotting in silence, still excited to meet Clan cats...

Silverstripe puffed out his chest proudly. "I'm much more coordinated now, you know." he meowed, taking a step forward, noticeably careful in moving, to make sure he was not proven wrong by a clumsy action...

Thunderheart's tail twitched. He found the idea interesting...Demontalon's ability to treat her wound had saved her life, after all. It was something that could benefit the clan greatly...but that would require Thunderheart to learn as well. The striped tom did not like the idea of more work...

"Watch out, or you'll actually fall in the lake," Flamesight teased.

Insolitus looked out across the shimmering expanse of water, almost glad it would take a while to get where they were going. Almost. He wasn't really sure what he felt about the whole idea.

Sunclaw nodded. It would be a good idea for all the cats to learn the basics of medicine. Stormheart on the other paw looked doubtful. "But doesn't this defeat the whole purpose of a Medicine Cat?" he asked. "Shadelight said herself, to become a Medicine Cat is an honor and gift from Starclan."

Swift turned his head to face the speaker. "But a medicine cat isn't always immediately available," he meowed. "Say, for example, you were savaged by a fox, and you were alone. Having even basic medicinal knowledge could be the difference between life and death for you."

"Times have changed!" Silverstripe insisted, padding carefully to the water's edge, paws making light impressions in the soft dirt that lined the coast of the lake...

"Medicine Cats will always be the authority where medicinal skills are conscerned, and they will do what they always have done. afterall, not every cat with medicinal knowledge is visited by Starclan. that's what seperates true Medicine Cats from Warriors who know how to treat a few wounds. they'll also be more skilled and knowledgeable in it, simply because they're specialised in it, rather than simply taking it as side notes aside from their Warrior training to help them take care of themselves" growled Wraith. "Medicine Cats will always hold the place they have done in the past, in the Clan. the fact more Clan members would know how to take care of themselves regarding minor injuries like slashes will not effect their role in the slightest" he explained as he stopped pacing, looking around at the cats...

"If you say so," Flamesight meowed with a short laugh.

"And if you can't reach your wound? What then?" Poppytail meowed, raising her voice to be heard over the rest of the cats.

Stormheart dropped the subject once his father went about it. His ears perked up at Poppytail's comment. He found it slightly amusing, but he listened to what his father would say.

"Well, hopefully, you'll have at least one clanmate with you, and THEY'LL have the experience to treat the wound," replied Springtail. "After all, no self-respecting Clan cat would really go out on his or her own."

Poppytail nodded, not entirely convinced, but she didn't speak out again. Robinflight briefly pressed his muzzle to her shoulder to try and soothe her, and meowed, "It's a good idea. Think about it - a whole Clan knowing how to take care of injuries and illness." Poppytail still looked troubled. "I can't help thinking we're setting ourselves up for more disaster," she murmured.

"Not being able to treat a wound is natural. with or without medicine skills, you can't help that. but as a Clan, we should stick together. if scattered, the first thing we do is find other Clanmates. regarding wounds you can't reach, if you don't have a clan member with you, you have no choice but to return to camp" growled Wraith. "Now....is there anything else any of you would like to say about this? any objections and why?" he inquired, glancing over the entire clan...

Poppytail didn't speak up again, and Robinflight couldn't see many problems with the idea. The young gray tabby tom wrapped his striped tail over his paws and meowed, "Not from us, it would seem."

Insolitus stopped for a moment to catch his breath. They'd just made their way over the hills and were standing at the edge of a marsh that didn't look inviting. "Almost there, I think," he mewed. Everything looked familiar, at least.

Renny hesitated at the marsh, and after a moment he mewed, "Can we go... around?"

"Probably," Insolitus mewed, starting to head away from the lake in search of a drier route.

Renny let out an audible sigh of relief and followed Insolitus, leaving the marsh behind...

Insolitus soon found himself on a familiar route. He could smell his own extremely faint, fear-tainted scent. He'd fled this way after he heard the wolves howling. He took a deep breath and mewed quietly, "Not much farther now..."

Wraith looked around. seeing no more questions or objections in the clan, he growled "Well then. in that case, from now onwards, Shadelight, Heatherpelt and Springtail will be mentors to the rest of the clan. the only ones that will not be trained by them are kits, whose education in very minor medical skills will be the responsibility of the Queens of said kits, if they feel the kits are up to learning. if not, they'll be trained when they become Apprentices. Thank you for listening. You're free to return to your duties" he growled. he walked down from the minor ascent around the Leader's den and walked over to Nightclaw and Hawkclaw. "Are you two interested in accompanying me to the border, or would you rather stay with Demontalon and drive eachother mad with torment?" he growled with a smirk. Nightclaw glanced at Hawkclaw, wanted to know what she said before deciding himself...
