Wraith lowered his head, sad that Auburnpelt would have to hear it from him. "They are well...Thundeheart is a prominent member of the Clan. as are Demontalon and Blazeheart...but I'm afraid Sunstorm.....walks with Starclan now. I am sorry" he growled lowly, closing his eyes at the end of the sentence. if there was one thing he hated about clan life...it was the loss. he not only had to deal with his own losses, but those of the Clan as a whole as well. he had taken Sunstorm's death a bit harder than would have been expected. the fact that it was such a short timespan before he arrived further burdened him. the thought that, had he been there sooner, he may have been able to prevent the young tom's death...

"My pleasure" responded Nightclaw with a smirk...

Auburnpelt felt her eyes widen. Her head lowered, the former warrior staring down at her own shocked and grief-stricken expression. "I...it can't be..." She swallowed hard, fighting for control. "I...knew they might be gone...but I hoped...they all might have made it..." Her voice trailed off and she let out a long, low wailing sound.

The white warrior let out a chuckle and sat down to wash his paws and face. Hawkclaw glanced around, wondering what their sisters were up to.

Wraith's tail draped itself over Auburnpelt's shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. "I'm sorry there was nothing more that could be done.....if it's any consolation....I saw to it personally that his killer paid for it with his life" he growled...

Wraith simply nodded. "Isn't that one of the duties of a Clan Leader? to ensure that the Clan's members are safe and taken care of, or otherwise given justice?" he growled. "Now...If you like, I'll take you to the Clan. I'm sure your family will be overjoyed to see that their mother is safe" he added as he looked up from the water, the tom's amber eyes opening, glittering with the intensity of flames in the sunlight...

Auburnpelt managed a smile. "Yes, I'd like that," she mewed.

Wraith smiled. "Come then. It's time to go home" he growled, turning towards the treeline and heading for the camp. the fact they were already deep in the Clan's territory meant it'd make the trip easier...less chance of a random rogue interrupting...

Auburnpelt fell into step beside Shadowsoul, casting a swift glance at the sky. StarClan...Sunstorm...thank you.

it didn't take long for them to reach the edge of the camp, thick bramble laden bushes which had been there since the days of Shadowclan, though the Camp had been expanded to stretch all the way to the lake shore. Wraith led Auburnpelt through a narrow opening in the bushes which was used as an entrance, walking into the camp...

Auburnpelt breathed in deeply, savoring the scents of many different cats all living together, one united Clan rather than scattered rogues. "Smells like home," she commented. As she spoke, Blazeheart slipped into camp carrying a few mice. He looked around. Auburnpelt felt her heart twist with sympathy at the deadened look in his eyes. He used to be so lively...Sunstorm's death must've hit him hard, she thought, longing to be able to comfort him by just curling her body around his and giving him a few licks between the ears.

"You want me to let everyone know you're here or would you preffer a quiet entrance?" growled the Leader, who was sure that Robinflight and a few of the other cats guarding the camp had already noticed their presence...

"Whatever you think is best," Auburnpelt meowed, spotting a few more of her former Clanmates before she turned back to Shadowsoul.

"Go and see your family, Auburnpelt. When you've had some time to speak to them i'll call for the Clan's attention and inform them" growled Wraith with a smile...

The she-cat's expression lit up and she quickly dipped her head to the leader. She turned and padded towards her son, only calling his name when she was close enough to be heard. Blazeheart lifted his head. Their gazes met, and shock flared in his amber eyes. "Auburnpelt," he mewed, his voice shaking. "You're alive..." Auburnpelt leaned forward to touch noses with him, breathing in his familiar scent. "I've missed you, my son," she murmured.

"I'm telling you, that squirrel was out to get me." Silverstripe growled, stomping the ground with a paw dramatically. "Oh yes...we should warn the clan of a squirrel uprising, then?" Thunderheart responded, shaking his head. The two went out hunting, and were now slowly making their way back toward the camp. "You saw how it charged me! It was like some kind of cat-eating vermin!" the silver tabby insisted, only partly joking. "It is leafbare. You know how crazy things get around this time." Thunderheart explained. Squirrels and other animals were busy preparing for the snow...it made them surprisingly aggressive.

Blazeheart started shaking. "Am I dreaming?" he whispered. His mother shook her head, her eyes, blue as the sky in greenleaf, soft and loving. "For so long," he went on, hearing his own voice shake, "I thought you were..." "I'm here now," Auburnpelt purred soothingly. Blazeheart leaned against her as she moved to his side, desperately wanting to believe that he wasn't going to wake up and find it was some cruel dream.

Wraith watched the Clan's actions from the entrance of his den, noting Auburnpelt and her family near the edge of the camp. he noticed Nightclaw was dragging a fish out of the kill pile to feed. he sat down, waiting for Auburnpelt and her family to finish their little reunion before he made it known to the clan that she was back. thoughts wondered to Firestreak. it was a bad time to send him to the mountains. he knew that from experience, having entered them for a short while several seasons ago before returning. the fact there were Eagles up there was even worse. He wondered if such a difficult Trial was really nessecary...but then, considering this was a former deputy with several impressive achievements to his name, he was uncomfortable with unintentionally giving him too easy a trial...something that would fail to prove his loyalty. the fact he had agreed and went to the mountains on their request had earned him a fair amount of respect in Wraith's eyes...He just hoped the tom would return safely...

Nightclaw tore at the fish with his claws, raking the scales off it. he had left his kill in the pile in case it was needed by another cat, and went for Hawkclaw's kill instead. it was perfectly sized for him. the fact he hadn't eaten since roughly mid day the previous day gave him all the more reason to enjoy a fish rather than a small rodent as was the case with most of what was in the kill pile. once he had removed most of the scales, he bit into the kill, his growling stomach seeming to fall silent; an angry beast steadily being satisfied. the tom took bite after bite, not slowing the pace. he made a mental note to compliment Hawkclaw on a good catch when he was done, but for now, he was content to eat in silence...

Hawkclaw had moved so she was lying on one side, her amber eyes locked on Blazeheart and Auburnpelt with a surprised and thoughtful look. Where had the ginger tom's mother been? What kind of condition had she been found in? Did she know about Sunstorm? The story had spread through the Clan like wildfire. The dark tabby's tail flicked, coming to rest at her side. It was good that Auburnpelt was alright. But if she knew, how was she dealing with the death of her son? And if she didn't know, how long would it be before she found out?

Thunderheart and Silverstripe were nearing the camp, though the two were still progressing slowly. "Want to head to the lake? I don't really see the point in going back to the camp so soon." the silver tabby suggested, shrugging. "No thanks...too tired." Thunderheart meowed plainly. Silverstripe shook his head. "That's always the case! You sleep too much. Its unhealthy." he meowed dramatically, smirking. "You and Flamesight sure are eager to stay out of the camp." Thunderheart commented somewhat randomly, earning an intense glare from the silver tabby. "...No, you mouse brain, get your head out of the dung heap!" Thunderheart quickly retorted. "What I meant was...you two don't seem to want to stay with the clan for very long." he continued, looking at Silverstripe expectantly. "Hey, we do our part for the clan! Just because its nice to get some fresh air sometimes doesn't mean we want to leave. Its nice to have a safe place to sleep...its just sometimes I prefer to stay out in the forest." he meowed innocently, shrugging, as if not seeing the issue. Thunderheart nodded in understanding as they neared the camp...
