Umbra's stomach was starting to rumble again. The scent of slightly rotting flesh was only making it worse, yet the scent of the far away entity put his mind at unease. Another kill could beckon them to hurry their pace and find him quicker.
Instinct outweighed caution as was usually the case with Umbra. He knew that since his kill and begun smell putrid, herbivores would have lower guard since it was an slightly older kill, and he'd be in the water.
He made his way into the water and submerged himself again, transparent sail, nostrils and eyeballs being the only thing above the water. The area was frequented by all sorts of herbivores, so he only need wait until one showed up to drink from the river.
Within a few minutes a Stegosaurus lumbered up to the river, slightly uneased by the kill, but still not very paranoid. It continued up to the river to continue to drink. Umbra, toying with it a little bit let it drink for a minute or so, then launched out of the water grabbing onto it's head disabling it from twisting around and catching him with his tail spikes.
He bit down with as much force as he could, crushing the animals skull and killing it. He then slowly crawled out of the water and flopped the animal over on it's side with his foot. The smell he had picked up earlier was still in the air, and still unsettling to him. He decided he'd feast anyway.
He tore open the gut of the animal and picked out the liver and gobbled it down quickly. After which we picked up the intestines in his mouth and shook them free of anything that was lodged in there. The taste animal waste was the last thing he wanted in his mouth. After a good shaking he began to gobble them down. He then stripped the torso clean of any flesh, but unlike his previous kills he left the chest cavity untouched, incase whatever else he was smelling was a carnivore, that way he might be able to avoid a confrontation with at least a little bit of food.
He then went to lay on the opposite side of the building, the sun had shifted a little and along with it the shade. Whatever scavengers were around wouldn't be able to completely strip the carcass before his possible visitor would show up.
