Steeltalon went back to her place in the sun, stretching out and closing her eyes. She barely noticed Silver walking up to her. "If I asked you," Silver growled slowly, not sure if it was a good idea, "would you take me there when I'm old enough to hunt for myself?" The reaction was instant. Steeltalon's eyes snapped open and she turned her head to stare at Silver, obviously shocked. "Are you insane?!" Steeltalon snarled. "That place is so prey-poor you'd have to have a death wish to want to go there." She shivered for a minute before growling in a more calm tone, "And I've already said I'd rather die than go back to my old home. It's a breeding place for death." She turned her head away and Silver regretted asking. "I'm sorry," she chirped. "You just never said much about it, so I thought it was a great place." Steeltalon closed her eyes, her face taking on a pained look. "Oh, but it was," Steeltalon murmured. "Until Riptide's pack came. They killed nearly all of the prey, and the rest left our home. We would have left if Riptide had not killed nearly all of us." She started shaking. "My family was all that was left. Who would've guessed that it would only take a group of thirteen raptors to kill them all?" Steeltalon's claws sank into the ground as she fought with bitter anger. "I'm glad they're dead." She stared at one of her steel-gray claws. "Their blood is on my claws." Silver felt cold fear spread throughout her. She had never seen this side of Steeltalon before, and niether had anyone else that knew her. The cold-blooded killer in Steeltalon was starting to resurface.
