Meanwhile, back on the island...
a sickening crunch was heard as as the carcha fell to the ground, it's ribs shattered in a single powerful blow by the Giga, the massive predator putting a foot on it's neck, the Carcha trying to struggle free, but not being able to raise it's foot to kick out of sheer pain. "You really think i'm so stupid as to believe a lie like that?" snarled the Giga furiously as it pressed down, the Carcha's movements growing more frantic, before a sickening popping crack was heard, the creature falling limp, a rattling hiss coming from the Giga as he turned away, jets of vapour coming from it's nostrils as it left. the Carcha had been stealing his share of the kills in the western border territory for several weeks. they shared the job of securing the territory for Nightshade, and in return, they were allowed one large herbivore each a week. considering this was the Rex who had utterly annihilated Crusher and all his allies, that was overwhelming generosity. generosity that he was under no obligation to give. the Black Rex could quite easily have killed them and taken solitary rule of the territory, or even the island, unopposed, now that his only rival was gone. but recently, he had been missing his share of the kills. the Giga had gone to the Rex asking about it, and it was revealed the Carcha had been taking more than his fair share for the services given to him. in a rage the Giga charged back to the territory. and now, the Carcha lay dead for stealing his share of the food. or at least....that's what the Giga thought. Nightshade watched from the darkness of his cavernous home, his mate Mirage and his son, Talos at his sides, his piercing blood red eyes watching silently, his ears hearing the sudden silence of the distant fight in satisfaction, the predator pleased with the outcome of his little trick. the Carcha was starting to get confident in the power it was being given, and Nightshade felt there was more to his actions than was immediately visible. being a master of such actions himself, he could read each and every predator pledging it's 'loyalty' to him like a book. his solution was to tell the Carcha in private that he could have the Giga's share, telling him that the Giga had been acting behind his back and couldn't be trusted to be spoken to about matters such as this. the Carcha followed the Rex's words, believing that he had gained the Rex's trust, and refused to tell the Giga anything, wanting to enjoy what he had before he went forward and attempted to betray the Rex. the Giga, oblivious, watched as his share of food lessened. and through that, the Rex turned on the Carcha, exposing him as a thief stealing from the Giga, thus eliminating the threat without so much as lifting a claw. Life had been looking up for the Rex...and with no chance of ever seeing his brother again...chances were his future would be a long, prosperous one. the gullible fools that surrounded him had no idea that he had orchestrated Crusher's family's death, or the destruction of the Spinosaurs, or the distabilisation of Crusher's trust in his family through Razor. none had any idea he was the malevolent, manipulative mastermind that he was. as far as they were conscerned...he was the one who brought THE Crusher to his knees, and ruled just as the former Rex had, though more generous to those around him...at least...that's how it seemed. the fact of the matter was that Crusher's allies had one thing that none of Nightshade's followers would ever have: the safety of knowing that should any of them ever be attacked, Crusher himself would come to their aid...but with none of Crusher's allies left, nobody would ever know that...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
