"Hm?" he growled in response to Hazel's comments, remembering the objects he had gathered earlier. "Oh. those. found them in a human's den. haven't figured out what they were used for yet, but i decided i wanted to keep them with me to think about later. see if i can't figure out more about it" he hissed as he rose his head for a moment, showing the thick silvery necklace around his neck, made up of square silvery plates connected to eachother by something inside, the center of the front having a fairly sized sapphire, shimmering slightly as it was wetted by the creek water, the exposure to the elements having dulled it's original shine, as with the other things he had gathered, making them less eyecatching than they would've been. "I have yet to figure out what this is for" he growled, pointing a claw at the necklace before continuing to drink. "Regarding Hellfire, i found him running in the opposite direction to where i gathered the humans' location was. so he was heading for safety. likely expecting me to be near those massive floating caves. in any case, i decided to let him run off looking for me away from the humans. I'll probably chase him down and talk to him once i'm done here"...

"Uh huh" Hazel growled, looking at the decorated raptor in an almost trance like state. "I have another question...what are you?" She barked. "What do you mean?" Aircrest growled. "I already told you about Ripper. He's a raptor, obviously"
"You didnt tell me he had mutant quills!" Hazel retorted. Aircrest shook his head. "He...isnt like the rest of us. He was the first to be created by the humans. After they made him, they changed how they created the rest of the raptors, which are our ancestors" Aircrest growled. "...The humans created us?" Hazel growled, shocked. "Yeah...Ripper's the last one of that generation" Aircrest replied, looking to the elder

Ripper nodded. "I can't say i know everything about the subject. but i think they feared us. feared my generation. we escaped many times, and killed many humans. my brother Otalp was the first of our kind to kill a human. we escaped more times in a small amount of time than any of the following generations. i think they may have changed the next generation of raptors. weakened them somehow. They made me...and my bretheren...and saw we were more than they could handle. but they didn't want to get rid of us. so they changed those that came after us. It's why you lack quills. that's part of the side effects of the change, i think" he growled...

Selena turned to Ripper with a puzzled frown. "Then the raptors who mutated by drinking from the polluted lakes...did they turn back into what the humans tried to get rid of?" she asked. "Or...are they something more?"

"They're the result of raptors consuming the poison the humans produced while they were creating us" he hissed. "The last 'mutant' of my generation was my brother, Otalp. I think he became a 'mutant' as a result of them trying to weaken us, before they gave up and changed the hatchlings of following generations. their attempt to inhibit our ability... went horribly wrong. and so they hoped they could try fresh. and i was the only one of my generation to escape that fate" he growled, his tone now somewhat sad, as if in mourning...

"I see" Hazel growled, nodding once more. "Ripper, meet Hazel. My sister." Aircrest growled. "He's told me a lot about you" The tan female growled, bowing her head slightly

"Nothing negative, i hope?" hissed Ripper as he eyed the raptor...

"He talks about you as if you were his father" Hazel responded with a bark, the corners of her mouth arcing up into a smile. Aircrest blinked a few times before growling to the elder "So...what are the humans doing? Are they killing creatures off or what?", still prepared for the worst

"For once, i'm afraid i don't have an answer for you" hissed Ripper. "I haven't investigated it personally. i picked up a faint trace of the human. it was enough to tell it was fresh. but beyond that, i'm afraid i'm as clueless as you are" he explained...

"Damn. Aw well, we decided to see if we could steer clear of them here. Your welcome to stay if you want" Aircrest barked, looking down at the healthy green cover of grass that surrounded the creek.

"I think i'll stay for a while. afterall. our little problem with Hellfire is solved. isn't that right Hellfire?" hissed the elder as he glanced towards the undergrowth. "...How the....how'd you know i was here?" hissed a frustrated voice as Hellfire walked out, looking somewhat annoyed. "I was the one who taught you and Aircrest how to hide from others. i watched every mistake you ever made while learning. i'd have to be blind AND deaf not to be able to see either of you coming" hissed Ripper calmly, Hellfire grumbling...

"Hey, your forgetting that I tracked you down a few days ago! Granted you were preoccupied when I found you, but you didnt know I was there until the very end" Aircrest growled, feeling proud of himself. "The fact you arent deaf and blind is a testiment to your health... an old raptor living alone as nimble as one in its prime" Hazel growled, impressed and humbled by the dull orange colored elder

"Oh i knew you were around long before you showed yourself. you spent enough time with me to have your scent burned into me nostrils" hissed Ripper, sneezing as he said it, as if the scent caused an itch. "Had i not wanted you to find me, i could have avoided you very easily" he growled with a smirk. he lowered his head in gratitude to Hazel's compliments. "Very kind of you, Hazel" he growled...

"Thank you, Ripper" Hazel said pleasantly. "Eh. Ive still got some ways to go" Aircrest growled, running the flats of his claws down the back of his neck as he tried to fight back embarrasment, having been shot down infront of his mate

Selena chuckled. "Practice makes perfect...though not by practicing on someone who perfected the technique before teaching it to you."

Aircrest let his head hang and sighed. Hazel patted him on the shoulder and growled "There there, you may not be able to spring up on your teacher, but you can spring up on each other", reffering to Hellfire. Aircrest growled "Yeah. I guess your right there...Hellfire seems to like playing Ripper" He smirked as he thought about the numerous times the Deinonychus appeared, speaking from the shadows

"Handy way to unsettle a target. a disembodied voice does that better than most things i can think of" hissed Hellfire with a shrug. "Let me guess....Aircrest already told you abou-........what IS that that's all over you? shiney insects?" he hissed, eying the elder, his eyes caught on the jewelry. "About the humans? no, i came and told him, to be more precise. as for this....let's just say i've been trying to learn more about how humans think" hissed Ripper with a shrug, walking back to the creek and taking another drink. "....byyyy....covering yourself in shiney insects?" hissed the Deinonychus, somewhat confused. "Do you see them moving?" growled Ripper. "No..." responded Hellfire. "Shouldn't insects move?" growled Ripper. "um....yes...usually" responded Hellfire. "Then shouldn't that tell you that these are not insects?" hissed Ripper with a smirk as he looked over his shoulder. "I suppose so...bu-" "Well then, there you have it. they're not insects. these are objects the humans used for something. i couldn't figure out what they were for on the spot...so i've taken a few with me...i'll think about them later" growled Ripper finally...

"Could be used to attract mates" Hazel growled with a shrug. Aircrest snorted as he body began to shudder, the green raptor racked with laughter. "Ripper...Rip- Ripper trying to get a mate...ow..it hurts...it hurts..laughter hurts" he managed to say between sporadic efforts to get his breath back

Sylicora took a half step back from the leg, letting Rhojis in for another bite, a small piece of meat dangling from her mouth, which quickly disappeared as she jerked her head back and swallowed it. "Ah... O... kay," she murmured simply, watching her brother tear out another mouthful before taking another herself. "And hopefully-" hissed Rhojis, downing the meat. "I'll be able to watch and learn from you... Since I didn't see the whole thing this time." Sylicora gave a snort as she pulled her head up once more, almost dropping the strip of bloody flesh in her jaws. "Learn from me? You sound like you're expecting me to do it correctly." "Why wouldn't you be able to?" The green raptor fell silent, realizing he was being serious. Maybe, given a bit of time, she would rise to the challenge, and finally stop thinking of herself as the inept hatchling of the family...

Still smiling lightly, the Lili turned around again, stepping off the sidewalk into the street. "It's on the other side of this flat space... Just a cave or two away, actually..." With that, she started off down the road, slowly drifting toward the other side as she went, claws clicking rhythmicly against the old asphault. It would only take a few of minutes to reach the rusty stairway, which she could already see protruding onto the sidewalk between two buildings.
