Steeltalon blinked, surprised, and slid into the caves. She crouched so she was at eye level with Darkness. "Care to tell me why?" she growled, tilting her head to one side in confusion.

Darkness looked past the female, to check for signs of carnivores. I am not safe out there! he snarled. He was shaking and not thinking straight. He was able to growl one word, though: Crusher!

Steeltalon blinked again. "Crusher has a good heart. He won't attack you unless you attack him or his allies," she growled, trying to reason with Darkness. Her face took on a serious expression. "You haven't attacked him again, have you?" Steeltalon was calm, despite her serious look.

Darkness looked at her, a scared look on his face. No! he snarled. He wants me dead! Its not safe! Darkness snarled and ran to the back of the cave. He was shaking even harder now.

Steeltalon stood up with a sigh and went to him, pressing her flank to his in a comforting way. "Calm down," she growled. "I'm sure you're just overreacting. Is it possible that you misjudged the situation?" She stared into Darkness' eyes, seeing fear and anger there. "You have to calm down, Darkness."

It was evening before Switchblade awoke. She lifted her head up and stretched her stiff neck. She could see the huge carnivore laying a short distance away from her nest. She tried standing but got a sharp pain from her injured toe. She quickly sank back into the warm nest.

Darkness moved closer to the cave wall. He turned and looked into Steeltalon's eyes. Your in on it too! Darkness snarled suddenly. You've been planning to get me out in the open all along! he growled, scrambling into the cave wall. He stopped shaking, but was now clawing at the cave wall.

Redtooth looked up to see Switchblade awake. He hissed, "I see you're up. Don't try to move, your leg is hurt. Are you hungry?"

Steeltalon's eyes widened at the accusation. "Darkness, you have got to calm down," she hissed. "Nobody wants to kill you. Especially not me. Why would I offer you a place to stay if all I wanted to do was kill you?" Her eyes clouded over with sorrow and hurt. "Please, believe me." Steeltalon's voice softened until it was barely above a whisper.

Switchblade nodded, suddenly realizing how hungry she really was. For the past few days she hadn't been eating well.

Redtooth smiled and hissed, "OK then, I'll get you something." He started to walk off into the forest, then turned and growled, "I'll be nearby, so just squeak if you need anything."

Suddenly, Darkness was wrentched back into reality. He looked blankly at Steeltalon. ...What? he growled. He shook his head. What had happened to him? He lowered himself to the ground, his eyes not leaving Steeltalon's.

Steeltalon blinked and stood. "You have no memory of a few minutes ago?" she asked. "You went nuts and said something about . . . " she trailed off, not wanting to trigger another panic attack.

Darkness had reached the ground, and now was slumped against the cave wall. I remember...but I don't understand why I did that... he growled, his eyes filling with a new kind of fear...

After her guardian disappeared into the trees Switchblade lowered her head back down onto the leaves. Then she heard it. A small chirp, then scampering feet. Her head quickly popped up. There, a few feet away in front of her was a compy. She had seen her father kill these little dinos before, and was sure she could do it. Once again she tried standing. Her toe and lower leg still hurt, but she thought they were strong enough to hold her weight. She lunged out of the nest. The compy jumped away before she crashed into the ground. She squeaked in pain as her entire leg collapsed. The compy ran into the woods and was gone.

Redtooth saw a compy run past him. He swiftly killed it and carried it to Switchblade, who had squeaked in pain. He lay the dead dino next to her and swiftly supported her and put her back gently into the leaf pile. he hissed, "Are you OK?"

Switchblade, now back in the nest, cried out again. Now her leg hurt more than ever. "I think I hurt my leg more," she chirped. She gritted her teeth, trying to ignore the throbbing pain.

Still keeping watch out in front of the cave Ghost is joined by Bloodrose who comes out of the cave and lies down near Ghost. Ya know. Bloodrose hissed softly. This would be a nice place to raise us a new pack and maybe one day take on Gutripper. Ghost still looking out across the terrain answers shortly. Perhaps.... Bloodrose looks out in the same direction as Ghost the smell of a dead sauroposeidon filling their nostrils where from they did not know.[/i]

green eye had picked up the scent of something he would never attack. it was the carcass of a sauroposeidon. he and his family ignored it. they still had a triceratops carcass. green eye and his family knew that leaving a carcass with plenty of meat on it was wasting food.

Redtooth sighed, a worried look on his face. He hissed, "Well, I can't do much about that. Just rest the leg and try not to move too much until most of the pain is gone."
