Those wings are epic, but I love the design on his shoulder!

As with the name, i took inspiration for the patterns on his body from the Japanese. thought it all fit well with the Asian Dragon look

Well well well... doesn't that look like the powerful dragon... perhaps, if I can just mind control it....

The Japanese look on it really is quite something. 13/10.

if anything, he'd mind-control you. it's his specialty.

I went for a generally Asian look with him. not specifically Japanese. in fact, his anatomy is more like a Chinese or Korean dragon than Japanese. Japanese Dragons have 3 fingers. he has 5...

He, Mind-Control ME, the lord of CHAOS AND DISTORTION?!?! hehehe... good luck with that in the E-war.

oooh... I never noticed that Japanese Dragons tended to have 3 fingers... I guess one learns something new everyday...

Plus, I like how he's something of a blend between Western Dragons (4-legged, wings on the back) and Oriental dragons (Patterned, semi-serpentine look)... very nice.

Asian dragons are generally giant snakes with fish scales, lion heads and tiny deer-ish horns. from time to time they depict them with small legs [varying numbers. i've seen depictions with 6 legs or more], but that depends on the culture.

what's stopping you?

my vision of the Hueilin Dragons is that depending on their natural inclination, their bodies morph to suit it. magically gifted ones, such as Arashi, become more Asian in appearance, as they don't rely on their muscles as much. physically gifted ones become heavily muscled Western Dragons appearance-wise. you'll see what i mean when i post Septimus' mother's appearance. then you have the ones in between, with skill in both physical and magical ability. they turn out looking like a cross between the two. Septimus is a good example of that.

but again, that's only the Hueilin species. my species of Dragons in FRPG. nothing keeping others from doing Asian dragon designs...

in fact, if i have the time and patience, i may offer to draw Greshlynk for you once you're done coming up with a concept for his design...

I've been planning on drawing him, just looking around for some inspiration first though. I'm not sure if I want him to look majestic or scary yet.

Well, when you finish drawing him, if you like, you can show me the pic and i'll draw him in my style for you.

Anyway. I finally got round to scanning the revamped Inferno pic i drew a couple of months back. so without further adieu, here he is: Inferno: The Flamelord.

and yes, that is a full grown human being at his feet

Arashi looks great, though parts of his anatomy look a little weird to me. The position of and angle at which his front legs are bent makes them look contorted and shorter than the back legs. The first curve of the tail is beautifully done, even if the lineart is a little shaky, but after that first curve it looks a bit more like a piece of ribbon than a tail. Lineart is, again, a bit awkward. The thickness of the tail seems to change significantly at several points. For smoother curves try pivoting on your wrist as you draw.

As for Inferno, he looks good too, except for a few points. The raised foreclaw looks awkward, as if he doesn't have a wrist or knuckles, as does the bend in the tail. The two sides seem to be bending toward each other instead of curving the same way. The left foreleg looks too long compared to the left hind leg, as if his hind leg is resting on something we can't see. The wing, too, looks awkward, as if it isn't quite attached to his body.

There's your comment, KP. Enjoy. XP

thanks for the feedback. in Arashi's case, i agree. the tail is kinda ridiculous in how it bends. my primary problem is having a too-small scanner. other wise i'd do it on A5 paper and it'd fit without all the ridiculous curves. the tail is extremely flexible and prehensile, and the width changes are meant to depict what angle of the tail we're looking at. it shifts between the sides, the top and the bottom constantly along the tail. the end of the tail, for example, is being looked at from below, hence the fur being on the opposite side to the viewer, and out of direct viewing range.

As for Inferno, i agree with the limbs. I've always had trouble drawing limbs that weren't on the ground, and with how frequently i depict all limbs on the floor, it's got boring. so i did it as a change. however, with it not being something i'm used to, i tend to make a lot of anatomical mistakes. the tail looks wierd because in addition to curving, the angle we're viewing it at is changing from the side, to the top. the fact that the fin moves somewhat separately from the tail itself due to it being supported by rigid spikes/quills, only adds to the oddness of the shape, making the width seem to fluctuate. the wing design and drawing style is, in this picture, somewhat new to me as i drew it. the perfection of the style came with Septimus. I intend to revisit the wing sometime in the future, but for now, i'm satisfied with leaving it as is...

here's the fixed version of Arashi, following HF's commentary

Inferno doesn't look too tough... I could take him on anytime I wanted..

But in reality, he looks amazing, KP. The fact that he's that tall kinda makes me glad he doesn't exist in real life... imagine that thing wrecking havok on America's cities...

As for the revamped Arashi... Well, it's slightly better than the original. Just how, I can't put my finger on it...

Inferno, in RPG, has wiped out the entire city of Manchester in one strike. did the same to a military base in Germany's Black Forest shortly afterwards, and now intends to wipe London off the map.

there's a lot in him that i don't have the ability to depict in my art yet...
