"Don't worry. He'll be scrambling for his life once word begins to spread through the trade routes that the entire region has gone up in arms against him. Valenhad and her allies are quick to strike down tyrants. Valenhad especially after the recent incident" added Andruil...

Meanwhile, at the foot of mount Estradil, the southernmost mountain of the Kirrahara Mountain Range in Northern Aster...

"Has anyone seen William Vahash? the blacksmith?" asked a fairly muscular man, seemingly in his late 50s. a woman, seemingly in her 30s responded, amidst a crowd of bewildered villagers "Last I saw of him he walked into the woods saying something about retrieving something". "Damn! That fool never listens to a word I tell him. He KNEW there was a late evening curfew in place. Alright people listen carefully. Starting now, nobody leaves their homes after dark. There have been five disappearances in the last week. FIVE. The last thing we want is more of you getting lost in the forest" said the man, the village elder and leader. "But what of our loved ones?!" responded one woman, a series of angered responses following soon afterwards. "I'm getting to that! Please, settle down so I can finish!" responded the town leader, Elder Bairn. as the responses settled, he spoke up once more. "6 of the village's strongest men are to accompany me into the forest in half an hour. the rest will stay to protect the women and children from anything that may be behind the disappearances" he continued. "What're you expecting Bairn? a pack of wolves? a bear? Our forests are full of dangerous animals. they could easily be behind the disappearances. I don't see the point in making such a big deal of it" responded a particularly fat man in the group, a merchant by the name of Donald Thatch. "I didn't expect you to care much about them Thatch. Afterall, so long as the gold's still flowing into your fat pockets you seem to be happy to leech off everyone's fear!" retorted on of the men in the group. "How dare you-" started Thatch, as Bairn's voice boomed out over them. "SILENCE!" he called out, the arguments and angered retorts between the villagers ceasing almost instantly. "Now is not the time for you to be at eachother's throats! Thatch, you will have the respect to keep silent regarding the people who've gone missing. Archer, you're acting Leader of the village in my absence. Please try and keep Trype and Thatch from killing eachother" he said with a sigh. Archer, a tall, fairly muscular man with light brown hair and a crescent scar along his left cheek, stretching from just under his eye to about half an inch from his mouth, nodded. "Alright everyone. you heard the man. 6 of the strongest of you will gear up and be ready to leave the village in half an hour. the rest of you, back to your homes or shops. The remaining guards are to stand at posts at each of the village's entrances. nobody comes in unless I know about it. and nobody, and I mean NOBODY, so much as SPITS past the village entrances. Am I clear?" said the man. the guards gave a salute, as the villagers returned to their daily duties, Thatch heading for his shop while Trype walked towards the blacksmith's shop, being Vahash's assistant. Sebastian Archer, the youngest of the Archer brothers and heir to the Valenhad throne, was a strong, charismatic leader. he was sometimes wreckless and brash, which had earned him more than a couple of scoldings in his childhood. After their father passed, he had moved to a little village on the outskirts of the Valenhad Kingdom, a border town that acted as a conduit between Valenhad and neighbouring Kingdoms. however, in the last year trade had dried up, and the village of Kirratair had been all but forgotten. the cause for the sudden cease in trade? mysterious disappearances along the path that led to Kirratair. whole caravans disappearing without a trace, no tracks left behind. it was as if they had been swallowed up by the earth itself.....
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"

"That's good, Sarah!" Ikargu exclaimed, watching his daughter begin to swim around in a shallow part of the lake, waiting to see if she was ready or not.

The spy quickly notices the gryphon and dives forward, rolling and getting up to his feet before charging towards the lake, trying to escape the beast attacking him...

Sarah slowly begins to swim out, but still sinking a bit. Sarah backs off. "I.... I don't think I'm ready to go in much more yet."

The gryphon lets out a shrill cry before flying after its prey. With great speed and skill, the aerial predator snatches the spy by his shoulders, sharp claws sinking into his clothing as he is lifted up off of the ground.....

The assassin screams in pain as the gryphon picks him up and impales him, not knowing of one of the three figures in the lake seeing him right at that moment.

Saurgu tore out of the water and leapt up as she got onto the ground again, before flying at the person being taken by the beast. Ikargu watched, before turning to Sarah and saying, "it's ok. All beginners have to start somewhere, my child..."

Sarah nods and swims a little bit in the area she is in.....

The gryphon flies with great speed, heading towards a roost high up on a mountain ridge, the sounds of baby gryphons crying out to their mother to feed them ringing out from the roost.....

The ice dragon in the air speeds after the gryphon, letting out a deep roar as she neared it, figuring the man being taken didn't deserve a fate like this. Ikargu keeps his eyes on his daughter, making sure nothing would happen to the girl as she swam.

The spy looks at the dragon coming towards him and his captor, listening to the sounds at the same time, wondering exactly what was going to happen to himself...

The Gryphon uses her greater speed to her advantage, quickly diving down under the dragon and flying back up to try and reach her young. "Back off, draconian scum! I have children to feed!"

"There was far more things down there for you to choose from, yet you chose him out of anything else to feed your family!" Saurgu responded mentally to the gryphon, before hitting it with a mental attack...

The Gryphon yelps and reliquishes its grip on the man, sending him plummeting down to the earth. "Now look what you did! Depriving my children of fresh meat, you youngblood you....." The gryphon flies after the spy....

Saurgu dives down first as she watches the spy fall, hitting the gryphon with another wave of mental attacks as she went down to save the man. Ikargu starts to swim around in the lake as well, still watching Sarah as she did so too.

The assassin screams as he falls, feeling this was certainly his end, but kept his spirits up as he saw two things that could possibly save his life, one of which would later end it...

The gryphon sped up, diving down towards the man with incredible speed, claws outstretched to grab her prey....

Sarah soon manages to float on her back. "Ah.... this is relaxing. I can see why you wanted to teach me this..."

Draco soon returns to the castle, but not before he has some prisoners rounded up and sent out. Peasants taunted the prisoners as they made their way toward the pit, a giant hole dug out of the earth, stained with blood, and bones littering the earth below. The prisoners are kicked into the hole, Before Draco says, "My fellow Draxons! Behold, the elf sympathizers! Enemies to the state, traitors to the Drakon cause! Now, they will face the wrath of our ancient ally- the drake, Formidonis!" Cheers erupt from the nearby peasants, before the knig shouts, "Guards! Release the drake!" A whip crack is heard before a forest troll yanks on its leash, pulling up the portcallis on the other end of the pit. Yellow eyes gleam out of the pit as the monstrous drake emerges. The screams of the beast's victims are heard as it devours its prey alive......

Saurgu caught up with the man first, catching him with her own claws and flies off, hitting the gryphon with a third attack as she headed back to Ikargu and his daughter. The ice dragon nodded in agreement, before saying to Sarah, "but this is only a small part of the fun."

The spy sighs in relief as he is saved for the moment, wondering if he'll manage to be kept alive until the beast attacking him was chased off...

The gryphon sees her endeavor has failed and flies back to go catch something else......

Sarah says, "One day, I'll be able to swim out as far as you! But, that is a while from now...."

Saurgu soon drops the spy off at the bank of the lake itself as she got close enough to it, before landing herself in the water. Ikargu quickly noticed what was going on, before asking the other ice dragon, "what happened?!" Soon, he replied to his daughter, don't worry-in time you'll be as good as me-maybe even better!"

The spy sat down near the edge of the lake, his feet already in the water as he looked at the two dragons and the young girl before him...

"Trust me, Sarah. You will," Ikargu said to his daughter reassuringly, as Saurgu cut the two off from saying anything else a moment later. "This man over here nearly got killed just now! I had saved his life, but I didn't tell either of you because I wanted to be sure the two of you would be safe," the ice dragon said, figuring that was all she had to speak of.

"Mind if I speak?" the spy asked the others, before saying, "I learned something over the past few days, about what happened at Draxon. The new king, Draco... he, he had plotted on killing his father AND is preparing to try and take over all of Aster... with the one they call Zazikel..."

The large 8-headed serepnt swerved her heads left and right, before a certain scent filled her nostrils... It was one that she had picked up before, not too long ago. The snake looked behind herself, at a cloaked figure sitting beneath a tree, sketching out the large Orochi in it's notebook. Thems (for that was the name that Pope Jeetis had given tot he serpent) hissed in surprise, before slithering toward the figure. The person, realizing that they had been noticed, got up and shot off into the forest, with the massive serpent right on their heels...

n the main city of Tristan, while negotiations with the Wildmen were going on, the town itself was as alive as usual. The marketplace in particular was going as good as it tended to be. The dishonest salesman was in his repaired stall, muttering to himself at how those two dragons from the other day had wrecked his place, when he looked over at the stall not too far from his own. Lamia, the girl who was usually there, was strangely absent. The man scratched his head in curiosity. As far as he could recall, Lamia was almost always here, and never absent... granted HE himself had been absent quite afew days, including yesterday, but for her to not be here...

"Yet it is the truth," the spy responded to Sarah, before asking, "I think I've seen you around before, youngling. Didn't you used to live in Draxon?"

Before Sarah could respond, her father said, "she had, but I took her in and saved her from her terrible life there. She wouldn't have lasted there had I not taken her in..."

Crimson light flooded the decrepit stone hallways, the footsteps of small robed figures echoing throughout the corridors, along with the sound of dripping water. The figures were all unnatrually skinny, fitting into their small clothing with space to spare. The cloaks were all dark and varied in color, but were in great condition. They would shift about, occasionally revealing their bony forms of the beings, covered in a pale grey and black skin. Around their necks they wore ivory white chains with a ruby red pendant, the light cast from the gems pushing the shadows back, but their faces were hidden by their hoods. They walked into a large circular chamber that was not lit by anything aside from the crimson pendants. They continued to walk into the room before abruptly stopping, arriving at the exact central point in the room, marked by a strange ensignia etched into the ground. Its exact shape couldnt be described, only the edges resembling anything familiar. The edges seemed to be tendrils of some sort spreading out from an intricate, winding carving in the center that seemed to be in perpetual darkness, despite the lightsources shining down directly at it. That was until a few minutes after the beings' arrival, however. Three glowing orbs appeared in the strange carving in the shape of an equilateral triangle. With that, the beings all sat down in a circle around the trinity of lights. The glow from their pendants seemed to dim as the new orbs appeared. Each being felt the ominous forces at work on Aster. The gears of war were turning, with gears within gears being in motion. Such trivial affairs would normally be of no interest to these figures... except for the distinct impression left by a particular form of magic. Dark arts that corrupted all and drained life from the world. "We feel them" A low, whisper like voice said, echoing in the chamber. "But we cannot see them" Another added. "They linger in the shadows, hands held out to the nether realm"
"Allowing the abominations access to the natrual world" Two beings said, their voices hanging in the air and their echos over lapping, incoherant, sounding more like a gentle breeze glowing into a cave than the echos of voices. "Such has been the case for so long now" Another voice commented once the echos prior had all faded into silence. "With these strange forces at work, and the loss of the sorcerer, I fear our capabillities are in jeopardy. Our foundation might be too old to support us..."
"Refrain from such thoughts. We can feel the disturbances caused by their pressence. Theres nothing stopping them from sensing our opposing pressence as well. Over the millennia one thing has remained constantly true; life does not become extinguished. Ages of war and conflict have scarred the land but does not hinder its beauty. The same could be said about the future. The force of life will not simply yeild to the forces of darkness. Our foundation is as strong as it ever was, we are not the only ones to take the task of upholding the order. No matter what happens, if we are successful in our mission, Aster will remain, and so will the essence of life. It will start anew. Remember this whenever you have uncertainty my fellows"

The trinity seemed to grow brighter before suddenly disappearing into the shadowy engraving on the floor. The pendants of the beings all flashed when the orbs disappeared before starting to glow bright again.

Even Desrium's eyes glowed, though he didnt notice the dim brightening, or the barely audible whispers. He was far too focused on his task; he'd only stop to check his bearings, and by then all would have returned to the norm...
