"Bloody hell.....Bairn, are you sure this is the way we went? it feels like we've been going for hours, and this is all looking repetitive. I feel like we've been going in circles!" complained Andrew. "Of course I'm sure! now be quiet so i can concentrate. otherwise we WILL get lost!" retorted an irritable Bairn as he walked onwards through the trees. "Be patient Andrew. we'll be there soon" said Rupert to the younger man, Andrew brushing his blond hair out of his eyes before glaring at the older man. he wasn't in the mood for his talks now. "Hang on..." said Andrew as he thought he spotted something hidden amongst the bushes. Bairn stopped and had a look. as Andrew pushed aside the bushes he recoiled with a yelp of pain. holding his hand, he felt the blood run from a gash. Bairn narrowed his eyes as he approached, drawing his sword and pushing the bush aside.....revealing a red and black metallic post, an inverted pentagram at the top of it, encircled by an Ouroboros symbol, the centre of the pentagram carrying what looked like a demonic skull. it was human...but the teeth were long and serrated, the canines in particular resembling those of a wolf's. he looked back at the others, a very serious expression on his face. "God DAMN it" exclaimed Andrew as he tore a handful of cloth from his sleeve and wrapped it around the wound, which seemed unnaturally severe. blood was seeping down the Ouroboros symbol's sharpened edges, as whispers seemed to ring out through the trees. "I'm getting outta here!" said Andrew fearfully as he turned to run, only to fall to his knees in pain, as the blood of his wound began to turn black. his eyes widened as he saw the cloth around the wound turn black, before looking back at the others. "Help! Help me!" he tried to scream, though it came out as more of a panicked squeak. Rupert rushed forward, but froze in his tracks as he saw something shift somewhere between himself and Andrew. the air seemed to distort, darkening as wisps of smoke seemed to materialise, forming a vaguely humanoid form. a part of it morphed into a lump at the top, twisting around to face directly behind it, revealing a completely featureless, sickly white face. no eyes could be seen, nor a nose or ears, or even a mouth. and yet Bairn, Rupert and Joseph could all feel that it was looking at them. looking INTO them. Rupert took a step back, terrified by what he was seeing. suddenly, an ear-piercing screech tore through the group from the creature, the three of them falling to their knees, before the creature lunged forward at the helpless Andrew, a horrified scream all that was heard before silence engulfed them once more, darkness falling on Bairn, Rupert and Joseph's minds as they passed out from the pain of the screech...
"Well...The path is long. You may want to bring your horses. Unless you'd rather walk across Aster" said Andruil as he walked towards Furax. he stopped at one of the Archers, giving him an order to pass to the others. with a nod, the man rushed to the others to inform them of his command, Andruil himself reaching his horse, the Bay Stallion nickering as he approached, almost as if asking 'Time to leave?'. "We're off to visit the dwarves, Furax". Furax snorted, obviously not pleased. "Those dwarves are going to build our friends' homes. so be nice, OK?" he said with a smirk, Furax snorting once more, as if clarifying that regardless of circumstances, he didn't like it. Andruil chuckled and patted the horse's neck with a smile. "Here. I got these for you before we left Draxon" he said as he produced a couple of carrot chunks, cut into easily eaten portions, keeping them in his palm, holding it flat to the horse's mouth, Furax gobbling them up swiftly, his mood seeming to improve as he pressed his head against the man's chest, earning a chuckle from Andruil. "Keep that attitude up and i'll have more for you later" he said, Furax nickering as he turned to let Andruil climb on. Andruil placed his equipment in the satchels attached to the saddle, before jumping on, Shiryaz diving down and landing on a small perch at the front of the saddle, as Andruil rode towards the entrance to wait for Arsenic and Vix...
"Ah yes, organised chaos. the sign of a clever but ever-busy mind. To the perpetrator, a carefully woven web of belongings and intrigue, but to the bystander? Madness!"
