Memory
Sand Claw and Sun Jaw stood gazing down from there small hill at there expansive territory. After a successful hunt they were feeling relaxed and powerful, the beast they took down was an old Stegosaur that had lived in their territory for three years. As they contiued to gaze, Sun Jaw began to feel nervious, she remebered what she was going to tell Sand Claw. In the excitment of the hunt she had forgotten."Sand Claw" she growled " I have something I need to tell you". Sand Claw turned to his mate," Whats bothering you Sun Jaw?" he growls in concern." Well...its... the raptor pack Sand Claw there...there getting bigger."Sun Jaw hisses."Come now Sun Jaw we have never had any problems dealing with them before, why do you think will have trouble now?" Sand Claw growls. "Sand Claw its different now, the raptors, there hasn't been a pack this large before." Sun Jaw growls. " Trust me Sun Jaw" Sand Claw hisses, standing closer rubbing his neck against hers,"We have nothing to fear, there Raptors what are they going to do?" Sand Claw growls." Your right Sand Claw, I guess im just not used to there change" Sun Jaw hisses."See Sun Jaw its all in your head, we're safe, come on lets go lay down...

1 week later
Sand Claw and Sun Jaw have completly devoured the last of the stegosaur, but the scent of this beast has attracted an unwanted vistor to there territory. An Allosaur, male, he had caught the scent days ago and started traveling half the island in search of the source. Well as this brute of a dinosaur steps up the hill were the stegosaur was killed he sees, nothing but bone. Angered he starts to turn away, suddenly, he catches the scent of two Ceratosaurus on the skeleton. Turning back, he investigates the scents as expected the scents were only a day ago. As the Allosaur starts to trek around the area he discovers that it is in fact the Ceratosaur's territory. Grinning malevolently he begins to track Sand Claw and Sun Jaw...

Sand Claw and Sun Jaw were in the mists of a nap when he arrived. Roaring loudly the Allosaurus wakes both of them, quickly they get to there feet."Why are you in are Territory!" Sun Jaw snarles."Because worm im here to claim it!" The Allosaur bellows. Sand Claw and Sun Jaw both snarl at this, no creature enters their territory in this matter without dying." Leave now Allosaur or die were you stand!" Roars Sand Claw. Sand Claw and Sun Jaw dont fear much, especially lone allosaur's. In fact, the Ceratosaur's have fought three allosaurs, chasing two off and killing the other this hulk of an allosaur is no different. As Sand Claw and Sun Jaw prepare to attack the intruder Sand Claw gets a strange feeling of forboding hit him. This feeling isnt mirrored by Sun Jaw, as the allosaurus hunkers down into his battle position Sand Claw and Sun Jaw launch there attack. Roaring Sun Jaw leaps at the allosaurs flanks, while Sand Jaw attacks the intruders face. The Allosaur counters Sand Claw by swiping its massive head into his, sending Sand Claw to the ground. Sun Jaw sees this and Roars with rage, distracted by her rage the Allosaur shakes her off. As Sun Jaw hits the ground she snarls in pain, she tries to get up but the allosaur is upon her. The Giant grips Sun Jaw's neck between his teeth, Sun Jaw howls in terror as the Allosaur crushes her swind pipe and bursts her jugular vein. Sand Claw's eyes fill with terror as he sees his life mate die before him. With a Roar mixed with grief, terror, and Hatred he charges the allosaur. The Allosaur preoccupied killing Sun Jaw wasn't prepared for Sun Claws attack. Sand Claw jumps into the air, landing directly on the allosaur's back, he begins to slash, and bite the killer. The allosaur roars in pain dropping Sun Jaw, shaking, the allosaur dislodges Sand Claw."You will die now prey!" roars the allosaur. It charges Sand Claw, jaws gapping, Sand Claws only counter was a lucky smack with his head , Nailing the allosaur in the eye. As it Roars in pain Sand Claw decides to run...

Steeltalon, seeing the predators leave, blew a sigh of relief and wandered back over to the boulder by the stream. A shaft of sunlight had fallen directly on it, warming the stone beneath her and providing a nice place to just relax for a while. She shifted and winced as she tried to find a comfortable position that wouldn't aggravate her injuries. Now that the adrenaline was fading, she could feel the soreness of yet unseen deep bruises left by the falls she'd taken. They would have fully formed by the next day, she was sure. And her scratches would have scabbed over - but they'd likely open again if she strained herself. Just as she thought this, her stomach growled, reminding her of how little she'd eaten today. She groaned. Just great.

Part 2 Memory
Sand Claw came crashing through the underbrush broken and shaken. The loss of his mate sending chills down his spine, Just like that she's gone... Sand Claw thought. Sand Claw ran for hours and hours without stopping. When Sand Claw finally stopped it was from exhaustion, the Ceratosaur collapse and drifted away into nightmares unknown...

One Day later
Sand Claw awoke to the sounds of snarling, he stood immediatilly, expecting the Allosaur. But Sand Claw was met with something else...Raptors, at least 10 of them. Sand Claw stared in bewilderment. So Sun Jaw was right, they were becoming larger. Sand Claw thought. One raptor stepped forward unafraid of the larger carnivore hissing " We have been suppressed by you and your mate for to long!" Sand Claw looked down on the velociraptor leader and snarled " I'm not your foe now an Allosaur has taken my domain from me... and killed my mate." this brought saddness back to Sand Claws eyes. The raptor leader began to make a gurgling sound, almost a chuckle, soon all the raptors made the noise."We dont care what happened to you Ceratosaur, all we care about now is revenge!" the raptor leader snarled. Screeching the raptors moved in, Sand Claw anger renew from the memory of his mates recent death, charged the raptors. Two lept in the air as he charged, Sand Claw swung his head smacking both out of the air, hearing there bones crunch! Sand Claw turned just in time for one raptor to land on his side, Roaring Sand Claw grabed it in his jaws, crushing the life from it. The raptors began to take turns jumping on and off the ceratosaurus. Sand Claw began to feel alot of pain all over, the pack, too numerious he fled. Chased by creatures not even half his size he ran, before escaping any further Sand Claw sent his tail into the head raptors skull sending him into a tree. The raptors stopped after the fallen leader before resuming the chase, by then Sand Claw had escaped into the deep forest...

Crusher grunted, understanding what the Raptor meant, though he was somewhat surprised by the outburst. "Well you and I both know how unpredictable life is. Would've thought you'd have accepted it as a part of everyday life by now" growled the young Rex, eyeing his Raptor companion...

Ripper smiled at the younger Raptor's response. He was young beyond simply his age. naive. inexperienced. still....he would learn in time...

Aircrest made a quiet, annoyed hiss once he saw the corner of the elder's mouth curve into a smile. "Smug *******" The green raptor thought, frustrated with himself. While he wanted to show the quilled one that he wasnt just some foolish youngling barely getting a hold on life, he knew that there really was no point. What could he do that could impress the old creature? While Aircrest held the fact he lived for as long as he did as an achievement, the rusty red raptor had been alive for decades, since the beginning. The elder already mastered the skills of survival and had gone on to live his life of isolation. If anything, he would only laugh if Aircrest tried to prove himself any different.

Valu watched Steeltalon from the top of the tree, hissing for a moment. The raptor was lying down on the branch she had been perched on, which kept her save from most predators...

Sand Claw stood there not moving, expressionless it had been over a year since the events that took his mate and his territory. Above all he had suffered today the wounds, will never be as deep as the pain he feels when ever he thinks of Sun Jaw...

Vertigo quickly reached her destination, a relatively barren clearing. Most of the inhabitants were probably patrolling the borders, or hunting. The gray female padded past a few other mutants, straight towards the deep root cave beneath an ancient tree at the far side of their home. Without so much as announcing herself, as the other members of the pack did, she went right in. Near the back of the cave, barely visible in the shadows, was a black raptor. At first glance, he appeared to be dozing; he was stretched out, hind legs tucked under him, chin rested on his crossed wrists. His eyes were closed. But as soon as Vertigo growled, "Leader Riptide", one eye opened, revealing a piercing ice blue semi-glare.

"Vertigo. You're back early." His voice was deep and cold. "Yes, leader. I've got news," she said. "You told me to scout along the game trail and report back. Well, I found something - or rather, someone - that should interest you."

"Oh really." His voice was flat, hardly interested at all. "Pray tell." "Do you remember Graytalon's pack?" Vertigo said, cutting to the chase. "We thought we got them all, but I just spotted one of them. Alive."

Riptide's head shot up, the glare intensifying. "How?" he snarled. "We cut down every last one of them. Jade, Silverclaw, Viper, Sapphire, Grayclaw, Tigerstripe, and Steeltalon. All of them were dead when we left."

"We thought," Vertigo hissed.

"Apparently" grunted Crusher in response. almost as he finished that sentence, a painful groan seemed to reverberate through his stomach, reminding him of what he was doing before the incident with the Ceratosaur. "You in the mood to hunt? or should I go ahead and meet you back at the cave?" he growled...

"I suggest you spend some time thinking about what you've learned today, Aircrest. It may benefit you in the future" hissed the Elder as he eyed the younger Raptor, noting traces of frustration. "Perhaps we will meet again, in the future. or perhaps, you will never see me again. I suppose only time will tell" he growled as he leapt off the balcony, landing on the floor a few feet away from one of the skeletons, walking up to it and crouching down beside it for a moment, head lowered, as if in mourning, before rising, heading off to one side and entering a corridor...

Aircrest put a clawed hand to his neck after the quilled elder went off on his own affairs, the wounds stinging at the touch. "Life doesnt have to be all about evading death..." He growled quietly to himself, looking to the gray floor he stood upon. "Im weak now... but maybe in the future, Ill be strong. Strong enough to enjoy my time alive, strong enough to go it all alone..." He thought, heeding the old raptor's advice. The green raptor's eyes were suddenly locked in a determined stare, the light shining into them igniting the amber orbs. "Ill be sure that I am! Ill make myself strong enough to live happily!" He snarled to himself, raising his gaze and taking his hand off of the cuts on his neck. They will be his reminder. He had no one to teach him anything, and he had to learn how to survive through brutal trial and error. He would go about this mission with the same mindset, and he wouldnt rather have it any other way. "I didnt need anyone before...and I dont need anyone now, or in the future..." Aircrest hissed as he suddenly darted off, his claws tapping on the metal platform as he went. He cut across the platform that led into the mainhall and then turned onto another one of the platforms, heading for the stream of light that flowed into the dark building from the hole in the roof. His entrance and exit. He slowed to a stop underneath the sunbeams and then, with a powerful jump, launched himself up and out of the facillity, landing on the overgrown edge of the breach. He took one last moment to look at the young tree whose branches punched through the glass dome, before darting off into the surrounding trees...

Sand Claw couldnt stand any longer he had to find something to eat. Sand Claw wasn't in any condition to hunt so he'd have to make due with carrion. Surveing the area he spots nothing on the banks of this tiny island, but on the bank of the north side of the river there was something dead. Sand Claw limped over to the edge of island, judging the distance, it was about fifteen feet to the shore. Sand Claw lowered himself down into the water and swam slowly, even so it pained him to do so. When he reached the shore he was greeted with a dead juvenile triceratops. Hunger stinging Sand Claws stomach he began to gorge on it...

"Somehow that brat must have gotten away, despite her wounds," Riptide growled, getting to his feet. He was a fully-grown raptor, at thirteen years old - and a mutant to boot. Beginning to pace agitatedly, he added, "She must be killed. She can join her precious family, after these years they've been apart." A sneer had crept into his voice by the time he was done speaking.

Vertigo, used to Riptide's moods, watched him nonchalantly. "Leader. Would it not be more appropriate to let her continue to live with her grief? Her family died in front of her - that is torture enough to last her the rest of her days. There is no need to keep to your father's wishes any longer. After all...you hated him and your mother by the time you gathered our pack, did you not?"

"Yes." The word came in a hiss. Riptide barely gave Vertigo a glance as he paced. "But it is only fair to finish the job. This will be the end of the war Bloodtide began. And it will be very fine to see the light leave her eyes....the last of Graytalon's descendants. Oh, yes...very fine indeed."

"Leader. She isn't worth your time." Vertigo's jewel-blue eyes narrowed. She didn't want to see her leader killed because he wandered straight into a situation he wouldn't be able to escape. "But perhaps we can arrange an 'accident' for her."

Riptide looked at her, the cunning expression his packmates feared and respected in equal measure lighting in his cold eyes. He was silent for a few moments....then he smiled.

Redtalon plodded along soon growing bored and actually slightly tired he found a source of water with the sun making the stream glow. He lapped up some water and fell asleep. Surprisingly he wasn't too far from Steeltalon though neither predators knew this, and even if Red did he wouldn't care.

the Elder Raptor watched Aircrest depart from the shadows, a smirk arcing across his reptilian features. Wow.....That was...excessive...overly dramatic self-motivation sessions. pfft...This is going to be interesting thought Ripper amusedly as he disappeared into the shadows, his destination unknown...

Crusher grunted in response. "Lazy lizard. You give Raptors a bad name" he growled with a lop-sided smirk at the Raptor as he began to walk into the undergrowth, looking to find some more food...

What's taking those two so long? are they CRAWLING their way round the territory? thought Thrasher irritably, his impatience blinding him to the fact the territory was too large to cover so swiftly without leaving holes in the patrol. the Spinosaur, shrugging the slow realisation of that fact off, decided that he would do the patrols personally from now on. if anything, his boundry markers would have a greater impact on potential threats than his brother's and fork-tongued cousin's would. though at the same time, it also meant that he would be more at risk of otherwise confident enemies backing away to think things through before charging, potentially delaying their attacks until a less convenient time. The Spinosaur stretched, his tail swinging from side to side as he shook his head, rolling his shoulders as much as was possible as he stretched out his arms, a cacophony of cracks being heard from his numerous joints. and with that, the Spinosaur began to make his way for the border. he wanted to see what challengers awaited beyond in person...

Sand Claw ate his fill feeling the emptiness fade from his stomach. Sand Claw turned back to the river, knowing that it was safer on his little island. He limped his way to the water and slowly swam back to safety...

The green raptor shot across the stream that cut through the dense jungle, landing on a mossy branch on the other side. He was near where he was before when he had the run in with the carnotaur and wary of it. Regardless, he willed himself not to be afraid, to instead take in his environment and not the potential dangers it hid. He took a deep breath and dropped down from the branch and into the underbrush. There was still much to be seen in this thicket of jungle and Aircrest wanted to see them in a view not clouded by fear.

It wasn't long before Crusher was on the trail of food. the target: a Tenontosaurus. it's scent seemed light, though the reason was hardly a sign of an old trail. this scent was fresh. Crusher would later learn that the 'lightness' of the scent was due to the age of the animal; the one he smelled was a juvenile. there were other scents mixed in. the smell of foliage, the smell of potential herd members...but the scent he picked up most was of the juvenile. he could pick up the smell of blood. why was there blood? thought the young Rex as he moved after the scent cautiously...
