All thruought the city of Tristan, people went on with their current lives, despite what was happening. in a few sections of the city, slaves were busy hauling bricks and wood to construct new houses for expanding the city. Children played games like tag and bowling in set-aside sections of the city, made just so that kids could play. At the edge of the marketplace, away from where Guame, Lamia, and the businessman were discussing plans on saving Dione is secrecy, something was going on. The sounds of hooting and cawking filled the air as people ran over to see what was going on. Slowly, a circle began to form around the event, and outside the circle was an old man with two boxes for betting. As people came, they put thei rmoney into one of the two boxes, before wedging their way to see what was going on...

"Don't worry about it. Maldevians are accustomed to cold. During the winter season in the mountains where I live, they bury themselves in the snow and freeze solid for several months, only thawing when the snow melts" growled Septimus reassuringly as he glided towards where he remembered the village was...

Kristov cocked his head under his hood as he heard the sounds, curious. cock fights? in the square? strange....but perhaps it'd be wise to take a look before judging thought the Disciple as he approached the source of the noise, noting the crowds....

a series of powerful thumps were heard as the Dragon descended, landing heavily on the ground in the clearing. he could smell blood, and the mana pattern lingering in the air was unmistakable. but there was something else that intrigued him here. close to his son's somewhat distorted mana pattern, there was a second oddity. a point where mana didn't exist at all. it was like it had literally disappeared. siphoned off. this worried the Stormweaver. He's learned to gather mana?...no. couldn't be. that's too advanced for him to do. thought the Dragon, analysing the surroundings. the blood seemed rather unusual compared to the scents he knew. He had not encountered it before. that, in turn, piqued his curiosity. Ahhh...Nethrezim...It has been long since I have seen or heard of these creatures... began Gilgamesh deeply, his voice resonating in the Dragon's mind. Just as the Archdemon was about to speak of what they were, he stopped. We have an audience, Arashi stated the demon in Arashi's mind, the Dragon scanning widely for the source...

"well met, Tetto'eko and Andruil," Aviva growled. "though I wish it were under better circumstances. I understand an archdemon attacked the village in my absence." she gave a slow blink, looking to Arsenic for confirmation; he gave a slight incline of the head. She turned her attention to Andruil. Curiosity leaked into her tone as she went on, "Of you, I have heard little, except that you were there during the attack; and that you were going with Vix and Arsenic to the Dwarven Kingdoms."

From the shadows, a single, red eye watched Arashi with interest. it took careful note of the dragon, comparing it to the information it had been given about Septimus... it noticed that there were diffrences between the drawing it had been showed by its minion, and the dragon that was now looknig around... It seems like I;ve found a diffrent, yet possibly related dragon... no matter, it will still fit my needs... the thing thought in its mind as it continued observing... It was waiting fir the right moment to strike...

Inside the circle, a fight was indeed going on, but it was no cockfight. instead, two strange animals were fighting it out to the death. One was a young Zeuglodon, only about 4 feet long, and still with gills, though it was able to breath on land with it's developed lungs. the other was a clipped Gandior male, with a 6 foot long wingspan. As the crowd watched eagerly, the amphibion lunged at the bat, but missed, the Gandior havin gleapt to the side. quickly, the Gandior punced, raking the amphibion's head with its sharp talons, drawing blood. More and more people gathered, eager to watch the fight...

Daciant watched from a safe distance as his troops prepared to take the land of the local populace, and when he saw the vague outline of the settlements on the horizon for himself he was surprised, but pleasantly so

For what the scouts meant by well defended was nothing more than the land being sheltered in a few mountains, and perfectly scale able ones at that.Scouts.... he thought they'll exaggerate anything they lay their eyes upon if it makes them seem any more adventurous This was going to be easy

Then again he thought They probably know we're coming, and unless they're complete morons who don't see an entire army heading their way as a threat they'll have at least put up some kind of defense to keep us at bay The mountainous terrain could prove an advantage in battle to these locals if they knew how to use it properly, how much did he really know about them? Their strategies? How they planned things in battle?

No he thought I need to know exactly what I'm dealing with, just then an idea formed in his head.I'll send some troops, nothing more than a scouting party and send them to a proper vantage point on one of the mountains surrounding the settlement to take a proper look at these "locals" and how the work before I can be absolutely sure brute force is the best and most effective way of conquering them

"They can die numerous times for an extended period of time and be alright with a little warmth. How nice for them. Do you think those other creatures are like that?" Desrium replied, though he didn't know what snow was. His best guess was that it was something like ice, as Desrium saw the slug he touched harden up within a crystalline shell of sorts. With one final movement, the last of the ice was shed with only a few small chunks stuck to his back and sides. However, ice secured itself on the being's helm, small icicles forming stalactites on the ornate fin. The back of his head was also covered, as was the area underneath his right eye. They would melt soon after the armored being returned to warmer temperatures.

"Indeed. that is actually something we're experiencing a bit of trouble with at the moment, to be perfectly honest" said Andruil. "You see, there's still a bit of a way to go before we reach the Dwarven Kingdoms, and we need a water source. the water we have no won't last a party our size that long the nearest water source mentioned on the map is from a spring a short way up the mountain ahead. thing is, we have no idea whether it's accessible, or if there are any alternatives to it should it prove not to be" explained the man as Shiryaz landed in a tree nearby, gazing down at the group, and the dragons, somewhat discomforted by something, though what it was, only the hawk knew...

the Disciple eyed the fight silently, though focusing more on the people's attention on it than the fight itself. they seemed abnormally interested in it. it made him wonder what levels of society attended these fights. the nobles would likely not be as eager for it. but the lower classes? it made sense...

Arashi's gaze drifted across his surroundings, halting as he sensed the source, staring right at the eye of the being that watched him. "Your hiding convinces no one, Akuro. Step forth...surely a demon such as yourself does not fear being seen" rumbled the Dragon deeply, the almost unnaturally deep voice of Arashi resonating in the surroundings...

"I ho-.....that's a frightning possibility" growled Septimus as he considered what Desrium had said. The eerie possibility that these things were awakening from hibernation scared him. He had never seen their likes before, and they had not appeared in any books he had read. perhaps these things had been in hibernation? or coming from a different place? a different continent perhaps? somewhere far from Aster? or perhaps they had been resting for centuries? or even from the realm of demons? they seemed too nightmarish to be anything common to Aster...so perhaps the simple fact of it was that they were not...

"I can scout ahead, if you would like." The offer came from Zar, the male dragon cocking his head as he spoke. Though he was by no means familiar with the area, living in a mountain cave had given him the gift of keen eyes and ears - he'd have little trouble spotting water even from pretty far off. "perhaps there is a closer source - a small stream or pool."

"I am sorry for troubling you" The armored being responded, not wanting what he said to affect Septimus in such a way. He already scared strangers with his mere appearance, he didn't want to upset his friend with what he said as well. Delving into his mind, Desrium searched for a more pleasant topic, something that could appeal to a lighter subject. After the pause, he asked "Have you ever seen a unicorn, Septimus?"

"Hmph. For one like you to know of my name is a rarity..." Akuro hissed as he lumbered out of the darkness. He was a large, wolf-like demon with a single, red eye that seemed to alternate between blood-red and gray-ish black. His coat was fine, and pitch black in color. Powerful muscles rippled benath his fur as he moved toward Arashi slowly. 7 long, bushy tails dragged behind the wolf-like demon. He was a Kitsune, of the more powerful variants of demon in Aster, tough with only 7 tails instead of the full 9, he wasn't at full power. Akuro's large jaws slowly opened, revealing many large, sharp teeth. "Few nowadays know of my existance, let alone my name. For that, I applaud you, Dragon." Akruo snarled as he began to circle Arashi. The air began to grow heavy with static electricity, causing his fur to stand on end...

The people, indeed those of the lower classes, continued to watch the fight in excitment as the Zeuglodon lunged once more, this time managing ot get a hold of the Gandior's foot. the bat-like creature screeched in pain as it retaliated, biting the amphibion again and again. However, it refused to let go, and instead smashed the frail bat into the ground. The sounds of bones breaking could be heard as the amphibion settled to a well-earned feast. at once, fighting began to break out amongst the crowd as those who had bet on the Gandior began to ask for their money back, saying that the fight had been rigged. A few guards that had also been watching the fight for relief moved in to break it up...

"It would be much appreciated, my friend. without the water we'll have to stop at a village and resupply. that'll delay us too much. with the current events, we need this over as soon as possible" said Andruil gratefully as he eyed the second Dragon. "Before you go though...Would you care to give us a name to call you by? We know Aviva's name, but you're a bit of an unknown....well, at least to me" he added...

The Dragon shook his head. "You needn't apologise" he growled reassuringly. as the question was asked, he shook his head. "Only in books. I have yet to meet a living unicorn" he growled, arching a brow curiously. "Why? have you?". the Dragon had, at this point, begun to descend. he had been flying in a large circle over his destination for several minutes by this point. but he had waited for the clouds to clear enough to allow sunlight to reach the ground below. he didn't want to risk going down there so close to the place he had been attacked, without sunlight to cast back the shadows the creatures dwelled in...

"Naive creature. You know not what stands before you" rumbled Arashi calmly as he felt the static electricity in the air, amused. "What is this? a threat? come now...what could you possibly hope to achieve by attacking me?" growled the Dragon with a smirk, his eerie white eyes shimmering with energy, runes all over his torso glowing brightly as the Dragon's long, whip-like tail swept across the ground behind him, the bladed tip shimmering as light glinted off the unnatural, reflective edge...

"Two, just the day after I met you" Desrium said as he remembered the black and white equines he stumbled upon after his encounter with a forest beast. He wondered what had become of the two horse like creatures since he left them those days ago.

Nitsunobue stops in the middle of his burrowing. Directly above him, he could hear beings conversing. Oddly enough, he could understand them, just as he udnerstood that demonic beast before.... perhaps there was somethnig special about him. Shaking the thought off, the Horned Wyvern listens intently, curious to see if they were a threat or if he should simply try and make friends....

Akuro chuckled as he observed the lights, the runes, and the bladed edge of the tail, taking everything into account. "I have need of a fitting vessel to use as a new body. For far too long I have used humans as vessels, but they are like flowers of grass; they simply are too frail and temporal for my liking. The body of a draggon, however, is far more everlasting and more powerful than any human vessel could ever be..." The 35 foot long Kitsune snorted calmly as he braced himself. with lightning-fast speed, he leapt backward, his 7 fox-like tails moved forward, electricity sparked between them, creating an electrical sphere, the sphere launched out at Arashi, the entire attack taking only two seconds...

As the orb closed in on Arashi, it seemed to collapse, arcs of electricity leaping from it and crackling through the air, striking the Dragon's wings, arcing between the talons on the tips of the wings' 'fingers', a low, booming laugh seeming to rumble through the very air itself, the Dragon eyeing the kitsune amusedly. "My my, what enthusiasm! It's almost as if you were actually trying to fight me" rumbled the Dragon as he regained his composure. "Using electricity against the Stormweaver...I suppose I cannot fault you for your lack of knowledge. Perhaps you would like to meet the last Demon that tried to possess me?....Gilgamesh....care to introduce yourself?" growled Arashi.

The runes down one of his arms crackled red for a moment, as an explosion of black smoky wisps burst from the Dragon's arm, writhing in a swirling pillar of smoke and demonic energy, materialising behind the Dragon in the form of a gargantuan humanoid figure. It had six arms growing where only two should have been, each pair of arms carrying a different pair of weapons. In the lowermost pair, two fiendishly sharp, jagged swords could be seen, curving slightly and dripping what looked like a dark ichor of some kind, as if their last victim's lifeblood still soaked them. The middle pair of arms held pair of angular, squared off battle axes. The top pair if arns held a large double-headed scythe, smoke seeming to waft from runes carved into the blade.

The Demon's head seemed much like a human skull, with long, jagged fangs and a perpetual scowl carved into its features. It had two pairs of fiery eyes, sockets side by side, along the line of the inwardly slanting brow. The inner pair of eyes were lower than the outer pair. The archdemon's nasal cavity shimmered with infernal energy, as if just below the surface an inferno raged within the beast, the archdemon's fangs streaked with what seemed like molten metal, dripping from the edges of its jaws. The top of the head was decorated by 3 sets of horns, the lowest pair curving forward like those of a ram, while the other two pairs curved forward and upwards like a longhorn steer, the tips of each of the 6 black horns glowing white. The demon's body was wreathed in a cloak of smoke and flames, forming what looked like shapeless wings behind it's back, a long, whip-like, forked, fiery tail lashing behind the being. vaguely visible around the massive demon's neck and arms were ethereal chains, seeming to extend from the arm the demon had emerged from. "As you wish....Arashi" rumbled Gilgamesh, the archdemon kneeling behind the dragon, submitting to the Stormweaver's will...

"You're lucky, you know. Unicorns are relatively rare from what I hear. they tend to be reclusive by nature, so it's a wonder you saw them at all" growled Septimus as he descended, the village in sight below...

"Zar," the red-scaled male growled, preparing to take off. "My name is Zar." he spread his dark wings and carefully lifted off, giving a few wide circles before heading in the direction the party had been traveling.

Draco was becoming bored of this nothingness. He had been waiting for something of importance to be told to him for far too long. All he had heard was of his gryphon riders failed attempts at garnering his kindgom allies. He was nervous, for he was unsure if Zazikel would actually attempt to help him, or if he trully was being played for a fool. He heads out and decides to head to the temple of Greshlynk. He had not been told what his future had in store for him in many years. Curiosity got the better of him...

"What are all these people? Restocking? For what? Who is Zar and Aviva?" Nitsunobue thinks to himself. He was so out of touch with the world, it was like he was an alien in his own homeland. He burrows again, moving a few hundred feet to the left of where the beings were...

A lone being scampered down the road, covered in a long robe, with a full overhead mask covering its face. It seemed to be making its way towards the Great Forest...

Akuro began to back up slowly, the wolf-like Kitsune havin gnot expected this. Not only was this dragon mor epowerful than he had thought, but for it to be in possesion of a demon? it was a thought that didn't bode well for Akuro. What he noticed most, however, was not anything in particular about the demon, other than it's size. there was an unspoken rule in demonic society that the larger the demon, the more powerful it was. such a massive demon must have been incredibly powerful, perhaps more powerful than a Kitsune, which, while unusual, wasn't all that rare. Still, perhaps he could take out Arashi and use his body... unless... there was something he perferred to know before taking a possibly suicidal chance. "How intresting... For you to have control over a demon like that, and such a large one at that, is quite something. Once again, you impress me, dragon." Akuro growled, his voice having not changed even with this new development, though he was still on the alert, ready to retreat incase things got ugly. His single red eye shifted from Arashi to Gilgamesh now. "Gilgamesh, if that is your name, did you happen to have a human form when you tried to possess this dragon?" The wolf-like demon asked curiously. This question was a necessary one for Akuro. It would determine if he would risk this, or try something... easier...

Arashi chuckled as he heard the kitsune's question. "A human body cannot serve as a vessel for me, child. Even attempting it would reduce the human I try it on to ash and cinders" rumbled Gilgamesh calmly as his fiery gaze fell upon the kitsune, Arashi watching the demon expectantly, interested to see how it would behave now...

Andruil watched the Dragon fly off, before glancing at Aviva. "How much have you been told about what we're up against?" he asked curiously...

Akuro took a step forward, fangs bared. He hadn't answered the question in th eway he thought it would be. he needed a precise answer. "What I mean, demon, is, were you able to turn your body into that of a human before your demise?" Akuro asked, this time streamlining the question abit more to get the precise answer he wanted. possessing humans wasn't a trait of strength among demons, as far as he was concerned. Even some of the weakest demons he knew could possess humans....
