You can break their tails? I didn't know that... MH wiki didn't mention you could break the tails...

@ Gira: I don't think so. You have to land the final blow on its tail to get tails, though.

Gira:You can indeed.

G4E:I've broken the tail, dealt the killing blow to the head and I've still gotten tails in the rewards.

the tails, claws and heads can be 'broken'. same as Congalala.

and no, you don't need the killing blow to hit the tail to get tails. The majority of my blows [after I've made sure to break the head and tail for the valuable materials] hit the flanks or legs. occasionally a blow on the head [once had an epic 'kill cam' when I killed it mid charge, right at me. hit it over the head and stopped it's charge in mid air. Blangonga, Tiggy, Naruga and Grav. Ian too, but that one's easy to do. same with Los. but yeah. epic final blows, all of them]. But I still get the resources I want for breaking the tail, arms and head.

The Blangonga LS isn't the only ice LS in the game. there's also the Kushala LS, and another one that runs parallel to a blue and gold water LS [which I seem to remember was called Atlantis or something]. also, exploit Blos' weakspot. tail. ice. stab stab poke poke screech screech pain :P

Kushala LS requires me to get another Daora Jewel, and after the trouble I went through to get just one of them for my Daora armor... no thank you.

Just noticed that with Copper Blangonga parts, the Long Sword goes from awsome to rather bad, becuase it looses its ice element and gets cruddy affinity... though it's raw power's nice...

Gira:The reckless abandon skill can take care of the affinity problem if you get it at +2 or 3.

G4E:Any decent shots of the monster in the commercial or were they only very quick glimpses of it?

@ IK: Brief glimpses, but it appears to be some sort of bipedal monster, and the hand mutations, along with a stomach looking thing and the monster that the team finds in the snow in the original make an appearence. Otherwise, I couldn't tell.

^I don't see what they can do differently really though, plot-wise, compared to the original, barring minor things.

This one is a prequel to John Carpenter's The Thing. Shows the parts that involve the foreigners, that first discover the ship and are seen chasing the dog at the start of the first film.
