Vix made a disgusted sound in the back of her throat. "I don't care who he is, we've got three telepathic beings on our side," she said, gesturing at Arsenic and the two dragons circling above. "From the look on Arsenic's face, they're the reason the illusions have been blocked for the most part." She gave Andruil a long look and added more quietly, "When were you going to tell us about..." She trailed off with a vague gesture at Andruil's current form.

"Discord destroyed my entire LIFE!" Tetto'eko screeched suddenly, his voice hoarse, as his fury finally reached a boiling point that had not happened in over a century. His voice boomed unnaturally loud as he magically altered it in his rage. "He nearly turned a Slann Mage-Priest into his puppet for sheer AMUSEMENT! He single-handedly orchestrated the destruction of an entire temple-city, and somehow implicated ME in the process! He isn't scared of your telepathic skills! He will push them aside like you were a mere CHILD! This is no silly little harmless illusionist prankster! The things he does to you are VERY real, and you WILL show respect for my people's mistake before I--"

As if a switch had been thrown, Tetto's mood simply switched. The Skink stopped mid-sentence and blinked a few times, clutching his head. "I... I am sorry, I didn't... I never wanted to..." He never finished his sentence, simply staring at the ground and leaning heavily on his staff...

Nitsunobue glanced at Tetto'eko. For once, his expression showed not only curiousity, but also sorrow. Nistunobue looked as if he sympathized with the skink.

The goblins, mostly Vul'nul, stood undeterred as the blazing inferno crept toward them. The Vul'nul were too dim to realize the danger, but those Ko'tor guiding them showed a lot of bravery, not running away and all. The Trade Prince's orders were clear: They were to try and alter the course of the inferno. Nothing like this had ever been done before, and for good reason. But with two impending dangers pressing them at once, they were out of choices. As the blaze neared, the goblins could hear heavy footfalls, almost drowned out by the roaring fires, coupled with deep, otherworldly howls that caused even the Vul'nul to shudder. Even with such a primitive means of communication, the emotion behind the howls were undeniable: Rage, of the purest, most hate-filled variety. As the sounds grew louder, although unable to see the source through the blaze, the goblins began to fall back in a very ordered fashion. The blaze moved with them, as if it were a living creature sniffing out prey. As long as they moved slowly, but managed to outpace the inferno, they might just make it out without ever encountering what terrible creature resided at its heart...

"It seems he tried just then, as well. spark a fit of rage, hope to damage our unity. It seems like something he'd do, according to what you've described" responded Andruil, by now gradually shifting back to his humanoid form, his posture becoming more natural as his muzzle receded beneath the hood that materialised over his mane of fur, the fur itself shortening until it eventually gave way to the man's light brown hair and stubble, his yellow eyes gazing at the others in turn as the cloaks and armour materialised where fur had once been, the man sighing once the transformation was complete. He gave a sideways glance at Vix, saying "I'm fairly sure I already did. That evening in the forest, same night we met Tetto'eko and Septimus"...

Septimus gazed at the structures surrounding him as he walked through the street, awed by the sheer beauty of this underwater city. Unlike the surface, here there were no slums. there was no stink of industry, no sweat-smelling markets. It was what he could only describe as being the perfect world. The ultimate form of the world above the surface. as he continued onwards, he noted the vibrant clothing of the Zuppolandians moving around him, many standing on the paved edges of the street to make way for the guards and the Draconic creature they escorted. Their appearance was more human than he had expected of any underwater race. Their eyes were only marginally larger than normal humans, the only differences being their glossy, adapted skin, which, despite the change in appearance, still seemed reminiscent of normal human skin, their slitted nostrils for the most part receded, though the curve of the former noses could still be seen vaguely over their lips. If any place inhabited by humans of any kind could be considered heavenly, Septimus by now felt that he had found it. along the road, strange luminescent conch shells hung from what looked like stalks of coral, streaked with beautiful combinations of browns, whites, purples, blues and greens, spots outlining each thick line of the five or so that encircled the form of the conch. between the buildings Septimus noted that on occasion other sea creatures could be seen, some of them looking like smaller versions of the Crab Desrium had fought before they arrived here. Septimus' best guess was that these were Zuppoland's version of the stray cats and dogs that roamed human settlements on the surface. "Ebariveder" said the lead Guard, cutting off Septimus' thoughts as he found himself at the apparent entrance of the massive shell formation at the centre of the shimmering dome, The Dragon only just catching the Guard's thought in time to find out it translated to "We're here". Before them was the smooth, rounded entrance, similar to the opening of a conch shell, though it seemed sealed off by a large, ridged brown plate. "Le Bosar 'n Zuppo!" said the Guard as he waved his trident over the entrance, the ridged plate crackling as an arc of what looked like purple electricity crackled throught it, the plate turning golden, lighting up and pulling aside, The guards moving forward, Septimus complying to their will as he left the beautiful streets behind him...

Once again Desrium found himself staring down at the guard, eyes flaring all the while. Even as Septimus walked by, Desrium twisted himself as much as he can to maintain his sights on the Zuppolandian. Why was this speech so familiar to him? And why wasn't he being bombarded with an influx of knowledge? Surely this wondrous world beneath the waves must be alien to him, but he looked upon it and remained as he was before he entered.

Desrium turned to face forward, muttering to Septimus "They do not look like me"...

Tetto'eko did not respond, staring wearily at the cloudy sky. "Something tells me my temper will be the least of our problems," he muttered. He turned his gaze back to the ground. "If we do not tread carefully, if we underestimate him, we might as well turn around and go home now. We will never make it to the Dwarven kingdoms..." he hissed quietly. It was difficult to tell if he was talking to more than just himself...

Discord hovered over the path, far enough away that he was out of sight of the travelers. He fiddled his mismatched limbs, which began to glow with a miasma of random colors. The chimera chuckled darkly as he prepared the "arena" for his game. Here, in his own element, he would be holding all the cards, and no amount of mental fortitude would be enough to stop him...

The kingdom of Draxon fell silent, only a few guards remaining alert to guard the city. The smell of death still reeked within the city, and a feeling of sorrow hung over the land. It will be a long time before things returned to normal...

"Should have killed when had chance...." Ntisunobue growled in a frustrated manner. "Now, in hands of madman!"

"Sigh... I guess the damn dwarves ARE our best option for allies..." Mara cursed, though the idea of the dwarves marching along to their own destruction cast a smile on her face...

As Akuro darted along beneath the stalkers, his mind began to wander to his minion, Mara. Had she completed her task, or was she dead? If it was the latter, it would be hard to replace her...though Viral might do the trick...

As the sun gradually descended out of the sky, the growing lack of light was of little notice to the goblins: The raging forest fire behind them gave them more then enough to see. Even over stretches of land that seemed devoid of flammable material, the blaze still raged. And although the area it engulfed was rather large, it never seemed to branch in any other directions, instead following behind the goblin's heels like a lost dog from hell. Unseen by the goblins, the Trade Prince's gaze was upon them, staring into a mirror-like substance hovering in mid-air in front of him, energy being channeled into the mirror by two magi. Lucifron stood beside the throne, as still as stone. As they watched in silence, the goblins made their way to a heavily wooded area only a few miles from where their observers were sitting. Even from their limited perspective, the Trade Prince could see movement in the woods, and as the goblins heard the strange noises coming from within, so too did the Prince, who grimaced slightly at the sound. His plan was nearing completion...but he wondered if his own people would get out of the way in time. He cared little for their lives, but each man down was a man that needed to be replaced, and that cost money, and he didn't like things that cost him money. The entire point of this risky maneuver was to prevent such a thing anyway...

The sharp voice of the Trade Prince intruded the thoughts of a goblin taskmaster. "I think this is as close as you need to get. Now get the hell out of there." The taskmaster nodded, knowing Bolthammer would see the gesture, and immediately began barking orders to his group, Vul'nul and Ko'tor alike, latter herding the former away from the source of the noise. The fire seemed hesitant at first, as if unsure it should follow or not, then continued on its original path, away from the retreating goblins, much to the Trade Prince's relief. The strange sounds coming from the woods increased in number and intensity, and swift figures began to dart in between the trees as the flames neared. The flames, impossibly, stopped spreading, and began to part. An enormous creature, dwarfing most mortal creatures by several feet, trudged out of the flames and burning foliage, the burning embers that were its eyes swaying in their sockets, as if looking around. The creature looked like a demon, with a scorched black skull, grotesque armor, and deadly spikes jutting up from its back. It carried an equally massive axe no mortal race could ever hope to hold, which it carried with only one of its massive hands. "Betrayer filth." Lucifron growled suddenly, the Trade Prince giving him an amused look. "I see you two have met." Bolthammer said with a grin, the sentinel, as always, giving no sign of emotion, saying nothing. The Betrayer, giving off a dull glow but far enough away from the flames that he was partially shrouded in darkness, looked toward the woods and howled, the unholy, hate-filled sound sending a shiver down Bolthammer's spine. As if in response, the undergrowth came alive with grotesque creatures, crawling, running, and flying every which way, clearly agitated by the light in the distance, but comfortable enough to get closer to this being standing before them.

It was these creatures, known by few as the Nethrezim, that broke the ice: One of them launched themselves, claws-first, at the Betrayer from the side. Despite its lightening quick movements, the demonic being knocked it aside with a swipe of its axe, sending the shattered body of the animal into a nearby tree. Instantly, the creature's brethren shot forth from all directions, biting, clawing, and shrieking as they did. As they closed in, the Betrayer roared, his body becoming a supernova of light, and the nocturnal creatures reacted instantly, diving away in their multitudes to escape the light. The flames dying down, Kharn grabbed one of the creatures by the tail, swinging it over his head as he turned around, slamming it into the ground, shattering countless bones, before hurling it into one of its fellows that recovered from his previous attack. More of the Nethrezim dove in, one meeting the end of Kharn's axe as its body was driven into the ground, while another collided with the demonic being's back, failing to stagger its enemy, but began clawing the molten armor in a frenzy nonetheless. The Betrayer left the axe buried in the last of its slain foes, letting the wrist blade sag a little on its chain enough to grab it, smashing the knife into the head of another advancing Nethrezim, a third snapping its teeth-filled jaws shut on his other arm. Grabbing the creature's neck, Kharn wrenched it in the opposite direction, ripping its body away from its head, which was still fastened on his arm. The creature attacking his back was joined by another, both slashing his armored shoulders and back repeatedly. Pulling his axe free and hefting it in one hand, the demonic being used his free hand to punch an advancing creature in the jaw, blood flying from its mouth as it shot backward, flying into the brush like a ragdoll. Turning sharply while swinging the axe, the Betrayer narrowly missed the two Nethrezim attacking him from behind, both of which screeched and rocketed away to find another angle of attack. Turning in time to meet another attacker, Kharn smashed the axe blade against the side of its head, the blade slicing clean through, sending the creature flying off by its own momentum. Once again hefting the axe in one hand, his wrist blade still hanging under his arm on the chain, swung the chain forward, stabbing it into another creature's chest, which screeched in pain. Yanking the creature forward, while two others dove in from the sides, racking his head and shoulders with their razor-sharp talons, the Betrayer caught the Nethrezim in his hand, fingers wrapped around its struggling head, crushing it with a clench of his fist.

The fight raged on this way, the Nethrezim overwhelming the Betrayer with sheer numbers, but the demonic creature fought the darkness nonetheless, the inferno at its call staying back, even though it seemed to drive the creatures away. To Bolthammer, it was if this "Betrayer" knew that very fact, and sent the flames away so it could fight without interference...

Sharavuras nodded. "Indeed....." The castellan, having nothing more to say, continued on his way, soon reaching the bottom of the path....

Soon, the lands grew arid and hot, and the trees grew sparce. The air grew thick with the smell of sulfur and made it uncomfortable to breathe. They were on the eve of the wastelands...

"He never would have given you the chance," Tetto'eko said to the wyvern with a weary sigh. "If Discord isn't confident in his ability to keep you away from close combat, you won't ever even see him. He can overpower a human, sure, but a dragon? Not likely. He doesn't fight, anyway..."

"Again....why do I always get the annoying jobs?" repeated Andruil with a sigh. a childish demon that got a kick out of bothering people who had little time for distraction. It made him wonder how many other misshapen misfit minions the Archdemon would fling at them like an upset child flinging toys in the grip of a temper tantrum...He could only guess. Question was.......what on earth would make a creature that usually took pleasure in destroying whole cities.....be satisfied with a small group of travellers. Either the creature was so weak it simply was incapable of taking on anything larger....or it was afraid to try it....Which, and why, was the question though...

Gilgamesh....do you feel that? questioned Arashi as he flew, near the top of the storm cell rumbling restlessly over Mid-Western Aster. Yes, I do. Dark magic.....Demonic magic responded The Archdemon. Far below, Andruil and his comrades edged onwards towards The Dwarven Kingdoms, a single forest separating them from their goal. Shadepines...

As Septimus entered, he looked up into the interior of the massive shell city, awed. inside the shell structure was what looked like a small mountain, shaped similarly, fitting the shape of the shell that encased it, rings of land expanding wider closer to the ground, hundreds of thousands of beautifully coloured and patterned shell-homes forming rings around the indoor mountain. unlike the relatively basic appearances of the shell homes outside the main city, here the shells varied in shape, size, colour and pattern, some having extremely intricate, clouded leopard-like patterns, others streaked with stripes and spots, some having jagged stripe patterns resembling the backs of coiled rattlesnakes. the walls of the shell city itself glittered with soft, beautiful shades of pink, orange, cream, white, cyan, blue, red and green, the beautifully polished walls of the shell reminiscent of the most beautiful of conch shells. the sandy streets sprawled throughout the massive formation, gemstones of all kinds, shapes and sizes embedded in the sparkling pathways, emphasized by shimmering shell-lanterns overhanging the 'streets', each casting light of a different shade, as waterfalls seemed to arc inwards, defying gravity as they ran along the ceiling, washing down the curved walls, as strange, flying, luminescent creatures fluttered back and forth majestically in the internal sky. Their sleek forms seemed somewhere between those of sparrows and those of goldfish, the bird like creatures having long, flowing tails that fluttered behind them like silken cloaks, their Mandarinfish-like colouring captivating to the eye, the beautiful trilling calls of the creatures only further seducing whoever took time to observe them, the creatures appearing to fly between perches made up of coral-like 'trees' growing downwards from the ceiling, hiding amidst the anemone-like tendrils of the plants that flowed lazily back and forth, as if moved by some invisible wave. Zuppolandians moved around the city busily, their strange language unintelligible to the naked ear, yet somehow unmistakably kind and friendly, though those close enough to notice their new visitor were much less talkative, staring at the Dragon with mixed reactions of curiosity, fascination, contempt and distrust. Some pointed at the Dragon, mumbling about what Septimus managed to learn was their confusion at his patterns, the bioluminescence for some reason extraordinary to them. Some went as far as to give low bows to the Dragon, something the Dragon returned happily, only to find the people shocked, the guards beckoning the Dragon forward. "Tre nobar oot oogle vedar. shoobai" said one of the guards to the crowd that had formed to stare at the newcomers, several staring worriedly at the armoured being on the Dragon's back, startled cries of "Iba Desunka!" audible amidst the crowd, coming from the children amongst them, though they were soon silenced by their parents as the crowd dispersed and the Guards continued onwards, heading for what looked like a relatively steep path up to what Septimus expected was the centre of power in the City. a tall white tower stood at the very peak of the City, pillars framing the visible part on either side at an angle, forming what looked like an upside down funnel-shape, almost like the pipes on a pipe organ. the white structure was decorated with copper floral designs, which seemed to shimmer unnaturally. The Dragon could only stare on in awe at the sheer beauty of this place...every other city he had visited since leaving his home in the Kirrahara mountains paled in comparison...

He felt as if he were on the threshold of realization, teetering on the edge. The inhabitants of the city, the architecture, the language! He felt as if he were so close to knowing something, but the nagging feeling persisted without any change. The unknown lay just beyond his mental grasp and there were no implications of the armored being's growing frustration. He gazed upon the shimmering palace, taking in the splendor of the building. His frustration turned into longing, a terrible want for understanding that he was ultimately denied by the worse antagonist of all- himself. "Is this Zuppoland?" Desrium finally asked Septimus as they were being led up the steep incline to meet with the keeper of the throne...

Mara sighed. " Well, atleast we're finished with that bit... anymore dwarves, and I think i might go crazy..."

Akuro took in the smell like it were that of flowers. Sure, it stank, but atleast he knew they were getting close... he suddenly stopped. He had picked up another scent mixed in amongst that of the sulfer. it was a smell he had never picked up before, but it made the hairs on his back stand on end... whatever it was, it was making him very nervous, which was saying something considering how hard it was to frighten a Kitsune from smell alone...

"There's worse things to worry about than a rabble of drunkard dwarves......" Sharavuras replies bluntly. "Tell me, have you ever heard of an Archdemon?"

The Masked Man notes Akuro's pause, and orders the stalkers behind him to stop. Bardhvadok still rests peacefully, but it is only a matter of time before he awakens.

"Lord Akuro!" The Masked Man shouts. "What is the matter?"

"Yes, I have."Mara replied, starring down at her snake-headed staff. "If I remember correctly, they are demons that are a cut above the rest. They are the demons that other demons aspire to be like. They have powers and strength that few can match... and they are capable of great destruction." What she said, had been told to her by Akuro many a time in the past. Small wonder, becuase that was Akuro's main goal. Once he gained his last 2 tails, he would be an Archdemon among Archdeons, as he himself had stated, and all of Aster would be under his control...

Akuro looked up at the Stalkers. "It is a smell mixed in with the sulfer... it's not natural... and it's making me nervous..." the wolf-like demon growled, trying to stop the shivering. "And it's very close by..."

"Well, aren't you the perceptive one, Akuro..." A haughty, feminine voice ringed out across the land. Akuro whirled around, looking for the source of the voice. As he looked, he noticed that a thick fog began to blanket the area. He could tell that this fog, also, wasn't natural... something had created it, and that something was all too close by...
