"What...?" One of the magi whispered, as if something spoke to him. The other two looked over, as if understanding, but something was wrong. They were sweating, as if under immense stress, their torment going unnoticed by the Prince and his guards, but not by Lucifron. "Fight it." the Sentinel growled, causing Bolthammer to look at him questioningly. "Chrome...NO!" one of the others yelled as the goblin began to scream, his flesh turning pale in an instant, his face contorting and shifting, his neck extending and his arms seeming to fuse together. In a few seconds, the goblin was a shapeless abomination, its eyes black and position far down its elongated neck, gaping maw now filled with razor sharp teeth. "WHAT IN THE NAME OF PROFIT?!" The Trade Prince screamed as he scrambled away from this hideous creature that was once one of his trusted elite. Lucifron stepped forward and hoisted the abominable creature into the air with one metal hand, preventing it from moving but at the same time studying it, as if intrigued. "KILL IT KILL IT KILL IT!" Bolthammer yelled from behind his throne, and the sentinel acknowledged him slightly. Clenching his hand into a fist, the midsection of the mound of flesh exploded, the creature shrieking as most of its body was destroyed. Dropping the former goblin, Lucifron turned back to those surviving magi. "Unless you want to end the same way, I'd advise you both concentrate. Hard." the Sentinel said in his usual icy calm voice, the two magi sweating profusely in response, as if fighting for their very lives...
Across Aster, magic users of every species, age, and gender were experiencing this similar stress, although only when they try to use magic.
