Tetto'eko nearly jumped out of his skin when he saw that his fellow travelers were actually far closer than he had expected as the illusion faltered. "Andruil? Who was that?" he asked, striding over to the rest of them. "What is going on?"

"I don't know, and I don't care. Let's get out of here" said Andruil, as a final shockwave completely shattered the illusion that engulfed them, the booming roar of the Stormweaver ringing out above them like a thunderclap, light being cast over them for a split second as the Hueilin shot past overhead, arcing back upwards as a horrible screech rang through the forest ahead of them. Andruil's eyes narrowed as he prepared himself. "That wasn't good" said the man worriedly as he led on. They couldn't turn back and go around. Shadepines was a thick strip of forest that covered a large portion of North Western Aster. it'd take several days to go around it. So he did the only thing they could do. push on through it...

Septimus spread his secondary wing-fins, splaying the fins on his tail as he slowed his descent, landing with a light thump on the balcony before the King, whose expression seemed unreadable, completely blank, the Elder Council watching from just beyond the door to the Throne Room. "I believe congratulations, are in order" said the Sovereign, Septimus lowering his head in thanks and in relief. "It appears even those forged in the fires of misfortune, are capable of bringing benefit to others. I have not yet formally introduced myself, so perhaps now is the best time. I am King Sheemaka Subaitis, sovereign of the Zuppo people and Keeper of the History, Lore and Laws of Zuppoland. For your service, I will answer what questions you may have. And unless the Council has any reason to refuse, I will count this action as a step towards redemption in the eyes of the Zuppolandian Kingdom" continued the King...

"What else is new?" Tetto'eko muttered...

"Hey, what's the big idea?!" Discord growled, exiting the canopy of the Shadepines as the illusion was broken. "You know when I said to prove you're not like other dragons? Well, you certainly failed that test, I'll tell you what..."

"How...and why was I created" Desrium asked simply. "Who was Liorick and why do you harbor such negative feelings for him?"

In the dead center of Aster, the earth began to tremble. Animals caught in this hotspot of seismic activity fled in fear, the tremors of which were felt in all directions. The ground began to split, and it seemed like the entire planet was heaving in pain. The cracks spread wide as large chunks of dirt and rock collapsed into the darkness below, creating a massive crater in the center of the continent, engulfing a small forest as it did. Inside was darkness eternal; no amount of light could allow an onlooker to see within. Without warning, this darkness seemed to come alive, spewing out from the crater several hundred feet into the air, like some unholy geyser. The darkness began to twist and snake around itself, forming four massive, pitch black, blade-like legs, each spearing themselves into the ground at the edges of the crater. At the center, the plume continued, obscuring what lay within, leaving its purple-black eyes to glare out from within. Although the stream of shadows stopped emerging from the crater, it began to spread out around the area from the center of this insectoid plume of shadow, engulfing more and more with each passing second. "At last..." the voice, horrifically deep and unnatural, boomed, the sound heard for miles. The plume of darkness continuing to spread as if it had a life of its own, the eyes of the gargantuan shadow-creature darted around as it took in its surroundings, observing the remains of the forest and the regions that lay beyond, towering above them all.

With a thoughtful growl, the eyes disappeared and the insectoid legs became stone-like in composition. Below, at the edge of the crater, a stream of this darkness condensed in one spot, twisting and contorting to form a humanoid figure. Standing at 8 feet tall, dwarfed by the 'structure' behind it, the figure appeared human, covered in thick, pitch black, scale-like armor. The helm of this armor resembled the face of some hideous spider, spikes of metal jutting up from below like the fangs of an arachnid, while the helmet itself had a web-like design, struts of helmet crossing each other in infinite multitudes, completely obscuring what might lay within. Strangely, despite being covered in spider-like eyes, they were all blackened to the point that they could not be used to see. The pauldrons of the armor were similar in composition to the head, composed of interweaving metal of the blackest night, the jagged edges of which were pointed out off from the shoulder. Draping down behind the figure was a cloak of shadow; a fog-like gas that mimicked the appearance of a traditional cloak, waving behind it as if it were solid. "Ahhh...much better." the figure rasped, its voice like the hiss of the coldest winter wind. Its sightless helm turned in a seemingly random direction, as if the being saw something no one else could, and disappeared...

With one final push, Tranquility managed to defeat Anarchy with the aid of Nitsunobue's neutral conciousness. Seeing the sky dragon shatter the illusion angered Anarchy, but Tranquility kept him down.

"Quickly, Nitsunobue! Get out of this prison before Anarchy overpowers me!"

Nitsunobue's body rises to its feet and began to charge forward, indiscriminate as to what is in its way. The wyvern sniffed the air, searching for his friends...

" As you say, it's not just that." Trajan responded, before continuing, " If the church were to know of my conversation with you, and my alliance with an arch-demon, then things could get very, very nasty here in Tristan. The church officials would have a field day, and that's something I really don't want to have happen. So of course I'm also worried about this conversation right now..."

"The Church ..." Zazikel spat, as if the word church burned his very tongue. "A bunch of mindless buffoons who believe some higher power will save them." The shadowy creature steepled his twiggy fingers. "If anyone is the higher power, it is ME. If I must show them that myself, I will, but not now. This conversation is not to leave these walls, let alone reach your... church. My actions have drawn enough attention as it is..." The Archdemon chuckled. "Ah, Trajan, you make it sound like you have a choice in the matter..."

"Of course this conversation won't reach them. Besides, the church is corrupt, having deviated far beyond it's original purpose. If I DID have a say in the matter on how they were, then it would be straightened out, but were I to try, all they'd have to do is place all of Germania under interdict, and I'd be branded a heretic and burned. As for this discussion, I really don't have much of a choice in it either..." Trajan said, himself not exactly a fan of the hypocrasy that had descended upon the Catholic Church . Even though he had been a good friend of Jeetis when he had been alive, Jeetis had still gotten on his nerves by adding on extra stuff that Trajan knew wasn't even meant to be there. But alas, Jeetis had simply been doing what over a few hundred years worth of church clergy had done: Turned what had once been simple and enjoyable into a complete mess that sent all the money of the people into the church clergy's pockets...It sickened him, and he had hoped that perhaps Dione would have done something about it, considering her nature, but, that had simply been a fool's thinking...

If Zazikel's current form had a visible mouth, it would have smiled. "Excellent. A corrupt church is a simple matter to handle for one such as myself. However, that is not of immediate concern. I can handle them later. For now, I am only here to inform you that you are not alone. I will be keeping an eye on your country, Emperor. It is in your best interest not to cross me. When all of Aster is in my grasp, you will be greatly rewarded for your assistance...

Trajan nodded. "Iunderstand." The emperor responded. What had he gotten himself into? He could nly hope this archdemon would be killed before it conquered all of Ast-

At that moment, It hit him. Now he knew where he had heard of recent Arch-demon activity before! Of course. But, there was nothing he could do now. Better to go along with this for now than to back out and get vaporized... or worse...

A plume of smoke shot through the air over Tristan, small in comparison to the one brewing elsewhere, striking the ground just inside the gates, as it quickly condensed into a humanoid form once more. Oblivious of any onlookers, the being, clad in pitch black armor, strode into city with clear determination, heading toward the abode of the Emperor. There, a raven was perched on a windowsill near to the Emperor's bed chambers. Despite no sight or sound to alert it, the bird suddenly turned to look out into the city, and spotted the newcomer. Dropping any mental blocks it had to keep its presence hidden, the raven took off in a panic, flying quickly toward the walls of the city...

Guame stood ontop of one of the rooftops in the city, the beastman narrowing his eyes. Something was here... An evil presence had come. The Armadillo leapt off the roof and began to dash toward the presence. Why? Already, the city had been attacked... why was there something here now? Normally, he would have waited until back up had come, but he couldn't wait now....

Zazikel's eyes narrowed, but the Archdemon nodded all the same. "Good. You will hear back from me in due time. Until then, I--" Zazikel stopped when he felt an all-too-familiar presence. Tzeentch again? he thought angrily. Why is he so interested in hindering me all of the sudden? He never has-- Zazikel turned away from Trajan when he felt something new. "I suggest you take your leave, Emperor," he growled, sinking into the floor and slinking away as a shadowy tendril. "Someone, or something, is coming, and I doubt it wants to just talk..."

"Your story dates back nearly 800 years. At the time, Zuppoland had been at the height of it's power, with branches of influence reaching even onto the Asterian continent, and across the seas. The Order of Magi that resided here was made up primarily of former Apprentices of various prominent Magi in Aster. They carried information they had gained following the last Attack by an Archdemon there. A monstrosity by the name of Gilgamesh. The Early Valenhadian Kingdom had been under siege by the Demon, losing villages to it's attacks, when it's rampage was interrupted by A Dragon. The Demon got arrogant and attempted to possess the Dragon, but failed. Instead, the Hueilin managed to imprison the Demon" explained the King, noticing the widened eyes of Septimus at the mention of his race, giving a simple nod in response, as if saying he would tell him about that afterwards. "This information was not just that which was used to capture Gilgamesh. It included much older rituals. Forbidden magics. Demonology of the most vile sorts. It had been locked away in the vaults of the Order's most secure sectors. But there were some among them who had the ability to access that information. One such mage was Liorick. your creator. He had advanced the field in silence, locked away in his quarters, away from prying eyes. He strived not to summon a Demon, but to create a soul, using the knowledge of the old tomes to construct the ritual. After a long period of trying, he succeeded, and began to carry the ritual out with the assistance of his wife, Aderalia. The other mages discovered his dealings with Demonology through spells cast on the tomes, and they attempted to stop him. But in doing so, they ruined the ritual, and with it, set off a catastrophe. Liorick lost control of the ritual as he fought to stop his colleagues from breaking in, and as a result, the horrible nature of Demonic Rituals showed itself. In the half-birthed soul's weakness and need for power, it reached out, killing Liorick's wife, her life force giving it strength. And as Aderalia cried out in pain, Liorick turned to the ritual, trying to stop it, putting his own will power forward to try and stabilise it and hopefully reverse what had happened. But all he succeeded in doing was giving the Soul it's power. ripping his very will from him, the soul used it to give itself substance, giving it knowledge and the ability to adapt. The mages attempted to trap it, using a Binding Curse to imprison it and contain it. But the Demonic nature of the soul and it's magical birth made it capable of feeding off the energies as a child would off it's mother's milk. Not long after the curse was cast upon it, it had succeeded in absorbing and binding the energies to form the armour and weapon that would later define it's appearance" said the King, eyeing the armoured being before him, a hint of sympathy in his gaze...

"I needn't explain my reasons to you, Discord. This forest is cursed with powers best not toyed with. Your games can be played with people NOT at risk of being torn limb from limb by demons already present all around them" rumbled Arashi in response, paying the disgruntled chimera no heed. If an act of wisdom was seen as arrogance, then so be it. He would not see the mortals slaughtered helplessly. Working together they may or may not survive. But split apart by Discord's mind games, they would be slaughtered like sheep. He sensed psychic magic at work here. And where that existed, there also existed the chance of unplanned interruptions into Discord's entertainment. To end the game now and give the mortals a chance would be better than to have Discord find abominations walking into his game uninvited and slaughtering the bewildered creatures trapped within...

"I see" Desrium said all too calmly in the wake of the revelation. He had finally got his answers and now his past was no longer a mystery. Just the same, new questions emerged. When was his likeness recorded into the book Septimus carried? Surely it was not at the same time as his birth. This small inquiry made Desrium realize he still had no concept of time. What exactly did 800 years entail?

Discord snorted, sticking out his snakelike tongue in disgust. Leave it to a Dragon to-- Wait, Demons? Hm... he mused in his head thoughtfully, stroking his goatee-esque beard. Well, I guess Archie doesn't need me to do his dirty work for him after all. Might as well tell him the good news... With that, the chimera disappeared in a flash, turning invisible and snaking off to find the Archdemon...

Trajan simply stared, looking at where the Arch-demon had once been, before he collapsed, his fists balled up in rage. "What... have I done?" he murmured to himself, so silently that had anyone else still been in the room, only he would have heard it. First putting Dione in custody and sentencing her to death in less than a week, and now this? Why? Why had he done this? To save his own sorry a** from being killed? That was when he looked up. Yes... that was why. He had heard of an archdemon before from the letter he had recieved, from the acting sovereign of Valenhad.. He had gone ahead and done what he should NOT have done... but he had done it to protect Germ-

He froze. What had it been that the demon had said right before he left... that someone, or something was coming? The emperor got up out of his bed, before he rushed to change from his sleeping clothes. If the mere arrival of a figure could cause an Arch-Demon to back away in fear....

No sooner had the raven neared the wall that the armored being's hand shot out toward it, and in an instant the bird fell out of the air, landing painfully against the ground mere feet from the wall. "Don't think you can fool me, changling." the figure hissed, striding slowly toward where the bird had landed. The creature got up slowly, shaking its avian head. It knew flying was out of the question, and thus needed a more suitable form. Its body enlarging, its feathers falling off only to disappear into what looked like dust, the raven was soon an ordinary cat, orange and white in color. The feline slinked off into the depths of the city, hoping to avoid a confrontation it couldn't win all together. It thought, perhaps, it could lead its pursuer out of the city before any more lives were put at risk...

Guame was now nearing the source of the evil feeling he was getting. Leaping from rooftop to rooftop, the 300 year old Beastman could already smell the pungant odor of evil getting near... It was a stench far worse than that of Akuro's, a fact that made him very uneasy...
