[Godzilla Forever]

Draco dreamt of the events from earleir, hearing the voice of Greshlynk growl angrily within his mind, showing his displeasure with both Draco and those who assaulted his people. To say he was uncomfortable in slumber was an understatement, for the demons's voice from earleir that night would ocasionally boom in his mind, disrupting Greshlynk's conversation and repeating those dreadful words...

For a moment, Greshlynk's voice twisted and warped in Draco's mind, turning into the voice of a far more familiar Demon.

"AWAKEN."

Zazikel stood over Draco's bed, in his shadowy, humanoid form, trying to coax the man awake with his own dreams. Not exactly polite, but that certainly wasn't new...

Draco jolted straight up in his bed, a look of shock and surprise evident on his face. He quickly rubbed his eyes and turned his head towards zazikel, quickly recognizing him. A smile stretched across Draco's visage before he completely turned towards the archdemon.

"By Greshlynk, you startled me! What do you ask of your underling, Zazikel?"

"I shall get right down to business, then," Zazikel replied flatly, as he usually did when dealing with particularly serious matters. "What is the meaning of this devastation I see outside? I would prefer that one of my main allies does not haphazardly enter fights with other wayward factions..."

"We were attacked by a group of barbarians," Draco said. "They killed many of my sodleirs, but we have called for aid from Snowmourne and Frostbane for reinforcements. I believe they sent an assassin here before, and had a spy here not too long before that. That assassin was a Half-Demon, and killed many of my Drakon Guards. She appears to have escaped sometime before the barbarian horde attacked, so I can only assume she and the spy were tied together.... how they know of me and why they attacked, I don't know. I fear they might know that you exist though, Zazikel. The half-demon seemed especially suspicious of that fact."

Zazikel's eyes narrowed. "Well then, if she shows her face again, she'll have her suspicions confirmed soon enough. I will likely be staying here for a short time. I will keep a personal eye on your affairs until my Ra'zac are ready for combat. I recently summoned a Hellhound for other purposes, but he will provide excellent bodyguarding capabilities if necessary as well..."

"If you insist, great Archdemon," Draco replied. He paused, but felt that it was important to ask this of Zazikel.

"Did you, too, feel the malevalent presence a few hours before now?"

"That I did." Zazikel glanced out the window. "I do not know what that was, but I do not have the resources to find out at the moment. If it becomes a threat to me personally, I will handle it then..."

Draco nodded in agreement.

"So besides this 'hellhound', have you gathered any new allies beneath your banner?"

"I recently acquired the, rather reluctant, services of the Emperor of Germania," Zazikel responded. "We will see how they fare in the near future..."

"Germania?" Draco grumbled. The very same ******** who rejected him but two days prior? "Was there any mention of Draxon when they spoke to you?"

"No," Zazikel replied. His eyes narrowed. "...why do you ask?"

"I asked for their allegiance but two days ago, yet I was declined for an unknown reason, yet the emperor aligned himself to you.... I find that very odd..... perhaps he is just stupid."

Draco gets up and begins to armor himself up.

"No matter."

Draco pauses.

"Have I told you the tale of the Beast?"

"Well, that problem solved itself, didn't it?" Zazikel replied with a dark chuckle. When Draco spoke again, he continued. "No, but I have a feeling you'll tell me now..."

Draco nodded.

"When my kinsmen were still nomads, they were tormented by a creature of immense power. It devoured the dreams of its victims, effectively killing them, and, if not killing them, draining them of all emotion..... its name was Dhoulmagus, "Dream Eater" in old Draxon. The Draxon people were not powerful enough to slay the creature on their own, and thus needed the help of a greater being. Out of pity, Greshlynk sent his avatar, the Gold Wyvern, to protect us from the beast and help us drive it away. In a great battle, led by Fafnir the Wise, the beast's form was destroyed and it was driven into the dark realm of the Shadepines.... there it lies, waiting to be awoken, for its seals to be broken. It is said that, when the moon is eclipsed, its bonds are weakened and his prison can be unlocked..... and he will hunt again. Perhaps this could be of use to you..."

Zazikel narrowed his eyes cautiously. "That depends, doesn't it? Releasing a creature I cannot fully control could bring catastrophe where I least need it. I must be fully confident in my ability to bend this beast to my will before I even think about releasing it. I have already released one calamity on Aster, but at least Discord is comparatively small-scale. He will not interfere with my plans. Of this Dream Eater, however, I do not know what its motives will be..."

Draco scratched his chin.

"I know not if the beast can be controlled.... but, if the stories are to be believed, he was sentient and capable of speech. So perhaps he can be bartered with..."

"You can't hide from me."

The voice pierced the relative silence in the alleyways, and in a split second, the feline was standing before the armored being. "You may safeguard your mind as much as you like, but it will do you no good." the voice hissed like the coldest wind, the being it belonged to unmoving. Immediately the cat began to contort and expand, and soon an elderly woman with a hood drawn over her head appeared in its place. "I never truly believed it would work." the woman said with a shrug. "But I had to try."

The armored being scoffed, the sound harsh and unpleasant to the senses, in more ways than one. "You waste my time, then. Let us be through with this quickly." it hissed, and the elderly woman raised her hand in protest. "You may do as you please, but these people...they need not be harmed." she explained, leaning heavily on a staff that was just as much of an illusion as her form. The being laughed, but it was not a laugh of general amusement. Rather, it was a condescending chuckle, mocking the shapeshifter's intentions. "You care so much for such insignificant creatures, though they are but flecks of dust even to your pitiful existence. These are the moments that even I cannot make sense of..." it explained, and although it was still mocking her, the significance of what it meant by the last remark was not lost on her.

"I care little for this place and those dwell within it, and even less of your concern for them. I will do as I please, and you will have no say in the matter." the armored being hissed loudly, and the elderly woman shrank back a little at the remark. Again, another chance she tried and failed. But perhaps, despite what it said, it would leave the city alone. After all, its business did not involve them, and she was sure it knew this as much as she did. "This conversation is over." it said finally, and the woman immediately collapsed, a slight smirk appearing on her lifeless features as she did...

"It is worth the risk, I suppose," Zazikel mused. "I will not hesitate to drain him of all his life force if I deem it necessary, however..."

"It would be wise to watch him carefully.... but I assure you, he will be a deadly, but useful, addition to your forces. Now, if only we knew when the next Lunar eclipse is..."
