Septimus' attention was caught by the shift in the weight on his shoulders, stopping as he curved his neck to glance towards where Desrium had gone, the Dragon twisting and pursuing the armoured being, curious about his sudden change of direction. It wasn't long before he went out of the Dragon's reach however, the narrow chute used by Desrium too small for the Dragon to follow. growling lowly, he turned back, continuing towards his initial path, edging towards one particularly promising tunnel amidst a cluster that had appeared long the cavern's walls, golden vines adorned with bulbous cyan orbs sprawling across the walls, seeming to originate from the tunnel that Septimus had seen.

A strangely musical tone, reminiscent of an old Elven hymn seemed to echo through the water as the Dragon swam forward into the tunnel, noticing a pulsing glow from within the depths of the cave, no particular source visible at the end of it, though at the same time, the glow seemed to flare on the walls of the tunnel around him, as if whatever it was that was generating the glow cast the light on the cave but not on him. His interest drawn, the Dragon continued onwards.

As he moved on, the bars of condensed glowing ore lining the walls seemed to reappear, veins of the ore flaring along the walls, though they were not the source of the mysterious light that seemed to light even the ore up in it's unnatural glow. As the Dragon moved onwards, he began to notice the surface of the walls touched by the strange light had begun to form small glowing grains, as if they were specks of pure light accumulating on the rock's surface. It was at this point that a lance of what felt like pain shot through the Dragon's mind, Septimus barring his fangs as he glanced towards the end of the tunnel, the dim glow bouncing off the walls along the path faded, now replaced by a darkness so severe it seemed almost to surpass simple blackness, shifting into a state of uncolour that defied description, the white soeks and ore veins on the walls suddenly seeming to consume the ambient light, the dark grey green walls glowing a whitish gold that seemed to feed the darkness of the once glowing ore, as for a brief moment, a face seemed to flash in the Dragon's mind, the might of the cavern's magical presence given form by the Dragon's very thoughts...

With the onset of this wave of sensations, Septimus was engulfed in the very rift Desrium had encountered earlier, the sensation he felt drastically different to that that the Blood Omen had experienced, the Dragon feeling as if very flesh was being stripped from him and reknitted, a strangely pleasant twinge laced into the agony, the feeling of being pulled against the path he was attempting to move in overwhelming, the Dragon powering himself forward, struggling to fight the force pushing against him...

The Dragon exploded from the water of the pool with a snarl, wings spreading as he landed with a powerful thump, his eyes flaring white as wispy blue streaks of what looked like some form of vapour poured from the Dragon's mouth, eyes and nostrils like some form of luminous smoke, the incandescent vapour floating upwards amidst a wave of patterns that sprawled across the Dragon's form, many of them unseen to any outside of his home, the patterns running from his head, down his flanks and to the tip of his fanned tail, tiger stripe-like streaks of rich whitish blue energy flowing across his black and grey flanks, which had now gained an odd blue sheen, the normally creamy orange tinted scales of his chest gaining a new silvery shade. The Dragon sighed as the vapour flowed from his mouth like a plume of smoke, spilling across the floor and rolling along the rocky ground like low lying mist, lighting up his surroundings as the Dragon looked up at his friend, the Blood Omen seeming to levitate, saturated with mana, the Dragon attempting to absorb it indirectly as it flowed around the armoured being, knowing what danger he posed while in that condition...

"If you do turn on us again Wyvern...you will not live to see the consequences of your actions undone" warned Andruil through narrowed eyes, a glint of gold light in his gaze as the light reflected off them at just the right angle, hinting towards his animalistic nature. "We will have to stop near the lake to recover. It'll slow us down, but if we push on in this state, we may not live to see the reason we came here in the first place" said the man, his early years of experience as a scout and ranger for the Silver Order showing through...

Jiier did not seem to notice the two despite numerous passes over and under the mouth of the cave, the dragon performing impressive maneuvers in the air mixed with deadly attacks against the canyon itself. Swooping from above, Jiier's clawed hand was alight with blazing golden energy, the limb smashing a massive hole into the cliff face opposite the cave, sending crackling bolts of energy snaking through the cracks around the impact, which extended several feet into the cliff itself.

As Desrium passed them, the vines on the walls shriveled and died as dry husks on the floor, drained of the magic that sustained them. The residual energy of the shapeshifting dragon's transformation was also consumed by the armored being's presence, the field supporting his flight unwavering despite the Hueilin's efforts. The Blood Omen flew out of the cave and into the light of the outside world as he pursued the object of his initial interest even now. His azure eyes settled on Jiier as he made his rounds in the canyon, the air filled with the magic he exuded...

Septimus sighed as he followed the armoured being as far as the cave entrance, halting there as he watched the surprising display of aggression a Dragon was performing, the canyon itself its victim. Deciding it better not to intervene without need, he settled with watching, the energy pulsing around and through his form refreshing, memories of a time long past coming back, the Dragon smiling. The last time he had felt so energised was when he was in his own homeland, amidst the paradoxical blend of temperate rainforests and icy peaks near the centre of the Kirrahara mountain range. He was close to a mana well. He was sure of it. the vines that lined the walls down there confirmed it. the glowing ore, the strange blends of colour and light, the sheer energy that flowed through the place; it could be nothing else. His glowing whitish gaze fell upon Desrium. the last time he had seen him like this was in the Zuppolandian city-state, when battling the monstrosity that had threatened to tear apart Zuppoland itself. he knew it was arcane power that had fueled Desrium then. Knowing Desrium's hunger for magical energy, the solution to this current issue was probably a bit too apparent. at this rate, Desrium would burn through the mana reserves so fast he'd be back to normal in minutes. He need only wait till the armoured being slowed, and then intercept him...

The dangerously focused eyes of the beast regarding the armored being for a moment as he flew, upside down, over Desrium. Reaching the other side of the Blood Omen, Jiier righted himself and charged at another canyon wall, smashing all four limbs into its rocky surface, once again sending a supply of rocks down into the depths of the canyon.

Nitsunobue nodded solemnly. Clearly, this one did not like him at all. But he understood why perfectly. Why would you fully trust a creature that tried to kill you not once, but twice? But, considering the half breed's lycanthropy, which he brutally demonstrated when Anarchy took over, Nitsunobue was a bit surpised he isn't more sympathetic to losing control of yourself.

"We get moving soon, then. Daylight ends quick in shadepine regions."

Nitsunobue began his march towards the lake, expecting the others to follow, but he still tried to keep his distance in the event that... less than savory things happen to him, or within his mind. He could feel a dull pain where that eldritch beast's tongue peirced his skin, and the spot was soon becomnig swollen with what he assumed was puss...

Desrium's gaze followed the dragon's path through the air and the watched the landslide he caused with his unchanging expression. He turned about to face another rock face on the other side of the canyon, his shimmering eyes flashing brightly. The sparks that surrounded him became much more energetic, shooting out from the Blood Omen and circling around him before falling back into the mana field, concentrated around the being's shoulder spikes. Multicolored energies gathered within his slightly opened jaws, gaseous trails of oranges, reds and greens swirling into them...

Jiier pried himself from the cliff face before soaring off deeper into the canyon, away from the cave and those around it...

Moments passed with Desrium drawing the energy off his surroundings into his form, channeling the power into his mouth, the pent up magic creating a blinding white glare surrounded by crackling electricity. Suddenly, Desrium's maw slammed shut and remained so for only split seconds before they flew wide open and the energies were released without warning accompanied with a thundering roar that rippled across the skies, the mist scattering in all directions. The blast slammed into the cliff face and utterly annihilated it, the spiraling beam of colors cutting across the rock as the electricity struck places at random, shattering the rock into dust, carving its own mark of devastation into the canyon.

When the beam died out and most of the mana had been expunged by the Blood Omen, what was left in the wall was a sizable hole, practically a newly formed cave where the rocks were seared but smoothed by the intense blast that shaped it. There were a few smoldering craters around it where the bolts had struck, the interiors of them glowing red and orange. Desrium drifted back to the outcrop Septimus remained on as his energy field dispersed, unable to be sustained anymore...

"Just think Desrium, one day that hole will have another ape living in it" growled Septimus simply, chuckling at the sight of the destruction, deciding there was no point in questioning it, knowing the Armoured being well enough to know he wouldn't get a logical answer.

"I did not do that to make a home for another ape. I did that because the wall has made Jiier angry somehow" Desrium said, the crackling energies that once lingered around him now gone, his eyes returning to their scarlet state...

By now, Guame was patroling the city from the rooftops, the armadilo beastman hoping around on his staff to give him a slightly better view, the sun shining down brightly upon him and the Germanian landscape. And yet, even with such a beautiful sight like this, to think that this land was being plagued by evil-

"Master Guame!" Djinn's voice called out to him, GUame turned, just in time to see Djinn appear right beside him, before something struck him odd. Her eyes seemed to be half-closed, and a small bit of droll was sliding out of the corner of her mouth. Also, her eyes appeared to be sbloodshot, and she was having trouble keeping her stance. "I searched for you all over the place last night. I couldn't find you at all..."

"There was no need for you to look around for me, Djinn." Guame replied, gently hitting his head against the staff. Seriously, this was just pathetic. Djinn should have knoen better by now, especially considering how long she's been helping him out...

"But Guame, ever since you told me to wait until you gave the signal, I waited and waited, but I heard nothing, so i eventually came out of hiding, but you and that evil presence we were chasing were nowhere to be seen." Djinn yawned, rubbing her eyes.

"Wait. are you telling me that you don't remember what happened last night?" Guame asked, raising an eyebrow. Something wasn't adding up here..." You don't remember meetin gup with that shapeshifter, and her telling both you and me of what to do to stop that thing?"

"I don't understand what your talking about, Guame. I told you, I was waiting for you to give the signal... "

Guame's eyes widened as Djinn's words stabbed into him. "No... that can't be right.. you were there with me... but if that wasn't you... then who exactly was that?" Guame pondered, worry beginning to enter into his voice....

Back in the castle, Trajan slammed the door to the Chapel shut behind him, leaving the damn church clergy to their own devices. Damn those vultures! They had come to ask him to move Dione's execution to tommorow and nothing more. Of course, they had tried to make it sound like it was because they didn't wan ther to suffer down in the catacombs for so long, but he knew all to well what the real reason was.. they wanted to squable amongst themselves over who would become the new Pope. And if Dione was dead, then that seat would be open to them. Of course, Trajan himself hadn't wanted that, but he also knew that the Church clergy had ways of making him do what they wanted him to do... so in the end, all he could do was agree to move the execution day to tommorow. He had wanted to buy some time to think of a way to prove Dione's innocence, but because of those damn buzzards, now that was impossible... Once he was back in his room, the young emperor simply slid agaisnt the wall into a crouched position and cried... First, that agreement with the Archdemon, and now this... Why did he have to be such a weak-willed idiot?

Arsenic nodded shortly. Silver eyes regarded his companions with a thoughtful look. 'Perhaps there will be useful herbs growing by the water as well,' he commented. 'if magic fails for some reason, we may need them.'

Tetto'eko made a wry grin. "Now, I don't wish to brag, but if my magic fails, there is definitely something very wrong..."

Sharp pain suddenly lanced up Nitsunobue's side, emanating from his festering wound from where the Hellhound had attacked him...

"Jiier was an-....wait what?" started Septimus. He hadn't seen any sign of Jiier since earlier...but the only thing attacking the canyon aside from Desrium was the Dragon. suddenly it all made sense. The ape's choice of words that morning, 'Kinsman', and the threats it had uttered, ripping his head off being only one example. they were things far beyond an ape. But a Dragon....

"You never told me Jiier was a Dragon!" growled Septimus as he eyed the armoured being in surprise...

"Agreed" responded Andruil as he glanced towards Vix, then Arsenic. the latter was limping, and at the moment, was at the most risk out of the group. "Arsenic. Might want to give your legs a rest. let Furax carry you around for a while" said Andruil, the stallion almost seeming to understand, walking towards the assassin, nudging him on the shoulder gently...

Desrium turned his head to the left, a single ruby eye facing the dragon. "You never asked, friend." he said before facing Septimus all together. "Did you think I was the one to slay that feathered creature? Do you think that I could mangle something to such extent?" he added...

"Of course not. How silly of me. I should never have assumed that the one who destroyed the wall of a canyon, ate the corpse of a possessed Zuppolandian and horribly mangled a crab over the span of a day would be capable of such barbarity as to kill a reptilian bird to feed his friend" growled Septimus with a smirk, flexing his wings as he mulled over the idea of re-entering the underwater cavern and seeing if he could find the Mana Well itself before he left this place...

"It is a mistake you will learn from." Desrium replied, once again oblivious to his friend's joking intent. "But while we are on the matter of asking questions, may I get the honey? I seem to having a craving after that incident in the water." he went on to say afterwards.

Nitsunobue did his best to ignore the pain, not wanting to show his allies weakness. He continued to march onward towards the lake, glancing in every direction once in a while. The last thing they needed was to get ambushed by animals, bandits, or worse, some kind of demonic entity. They had already had a rough enough night in the deadly shadepines; any more unnecessary combat and one of them might not make it out alive next time....

Arsenic gave a grunt of acknowledgement, making no objection. His leg had probably only suffered minor damage; it only felt as bad as a strained muscle. But he hadn't had time to look at it properly, and if it was worse than he thought and slowed them down, he'd have only himself to blame. He ran his hand down Furax's muzzle, and with a few twinges of pain from his injured limb, he moved to the horse's side and hoisted himself onto his back. Vix, still clutching her shoulder, twirled a knife between the fingers of her free hand. Aviva limped towards the lake, allowing Zar to lend her his shoulder for support.
