"He was poisoned by the Troodon. Nearly ended up cut open and turned into a living nest. Where were you?" hissed Ripper lowly, his amber eyes drifting to Sylicora for a brief few moments, before catching the change in light caused by the newcomer, glancing behind him at a Raptor that was not Sy's brother. Shrugging it off, he returned to putting pressure on the wound, hoping continued pressure and the plant would speed up the process, though admittedly being uncertain. Whatever he was doing was working though. That much, he knew...

"I knew it," Stoneclaw hissed from the entrance of the cave. "You trying to save him or something? Because trust me, there's no such thing as 'saving' anyone bitten by a Daycrawler..." Howler stood next to his brother, silent and more than a little bit concerned...

The olive raptor cringed and resisted the urge to shrink back at the older stranger's words. A few seconds later, Rhojis pattered up behind her and Stoneclaw, having caught what the elder said, and feeling his own pang of guilt. They both knew it had only been fear that had kept them away this long, although that knowledge changed nothing; it couldn't make them any braver. Sylicora took a tentative step through the entrance, eyes locked on the prone raptor, head held low. "W- we climbed a tree... to escape the crested predators," she hissed hesitantly, feeling Rhojis slowly scoot up beside her. "We h-had no idea he was... like this..."

"Well obviously whoever tried it in front of you didn't know what they were doing" hissed Ripper coldly as he tilted his head, one narrowed amber eye staring back at the stranger. "Oh, and you can thank the angry pack of Liliensternus for yours and your father's survival. I made a call to get their attention, and they obviously were furious when they saw the Troodon. I wouldn't depend on that luck a second time, however. Once your father can walk, you are to find somewhere far from here. Ideally, try and find a pack that'll protect you. It's your best chance against the Troodon coming after you for revenge...if they even care about one Raptor getting away. If you're lucky, they'll move on" he added as his gaze shifted to Sylicora and Rhojis...

"And you DO know what you're doing?" Stoneclaw growled back skeptically. As far as he could tell, the venom of the Troodon worked too fast for any sort of treatment to work, but he was no expert. Then again, he doubted this raptor was either. Howler crept closer, looking down at Beryl. "Are... are you sure he'll be alright? He doesn't look too good..."

"He's talking again, so that's a start" hissed Ripper through narrowed eyes, focusing his attention on Beryl as he continued to put pressure on the wound...

"When was he bitten?" Howler asked quietly. "I think there's a point where the venom..." he trailed off, and Stoneclaw picked up where he left off. "...where the venom spreads so much that it's simpler to just kill the victim to stop the seizures from starting than it is to try and save him..." he growled flatly...

"Sounds more like an ego thing. Quite frankly I think you giants just like the sound of your own voices." Aircrest barked before dipping his snout into the river.

"Gotta admit there's a sense of power behind making a roar like that. not that pathetic screechy thing Spinosaurs and the like call roars" responded Crusher jokingly, going along with the Raptor's words for now. "We're too big to run from everything like Raptors could. Wouldn't live long. We have to actually stand and fight. If I were a few years older and slower, and were in your situation with the Trike earlier, I would've had to fight it off, or scare it off. I'm certain you've hurt yourself once or twice hunting or fighting. that risk multiplies itself a hundred times over when you're a Rex. So roaring's our way of side-stepping the dangerous part. scare away the opponent, and you should be able to go without getting an injury that could starve you to death" growled the Rex, just as a splash in the water brought his attention back to it, a small caiman clamping it's jaws shut on a rather large fish...

Steeltalon, after a few more seconds of checking to make sure the bigger predator wasn't coming closer, bent down and began to wolf down small mouthfuls, eating with quick, light bites, only pausing briefly between them to swallow.

With a quick nuzzle to Savarna and a nod to Aurora, the alpha of the pack rose to his feet and began to walk among the others. As he did so, he checked on the youngsters who had made the kill, assuring them that they were safe for now and soothing their fears. He filled in the ones who hadn't been there on what had happened, Xanthe answering any questions with his usual calm authority.

Alira looked up at her mother with a questioning squeak, the tiny female sprawled out on her side, too stuffed to lie comfortably on her stomach. Cirrus, not too far from her, yawned and moved towards their mother, sleepy after a good meal, as most infants tended to get. He curled up next to her massive foot, blinking his amber eyes. The alpha female looked down at her children, glad that at least for now they could remain blissfully ignorant of the dark presence that had made itself known to the pack.

"So, what?" Aircrest growled after having his fill, raising his head and looking at the blue-gray Tyrannosaur. "When you're older you'll be yelling across the whole damn island too?" he added, shaking his head. "Lovely; and I bet your parents are giving you lessons every time you haul yourself back to your nest"

Beryl shifted his head again, one clouded yellow eye gazing blearily over at the group of four by the entrance. Strange sounds were still ringing in his ears, but he could more clearly make out individual voices now. His tail stung so badly that he couldn't stop a grimace as he growled in a gravelly tone through clenched teeth, "Don't... count me... out yet... Are... Rhojis and Sy... alright?" His voice turned into more of a gasp at the end as, in an attempt to get a better view of his family, he accidentally shifted his broken leg slightly, a fresh wave of pulsing pain dulling his senses for a few moments.

Though both juveniles' wide-eyed stares betrayed their fear, Sylicora took a few cautious steps forward so she was in clear view of the ailing raptor. Crouching down, she hissed quietly, her voice trembling, "We- we're fine Dad... The crested ones and the T-Troodons are gone..." Beryl's one-eyed gazed softened as he looked up at the olive raptor, and his grimace turned into an attempted half-smile. "Good... to know..." Rhojis also took a tentative step forward, still staying behind his sister so as not to crowd Beryl...

"If they hadn't been slaughtered by a pack of Spinosaurs when I was four" growled Crusher, his tone suddenly cold, losing whatever sense of amusement and cheer it may have had. his family had always been a touchy subject to talk about, ever since the incident that robbed him of them, leaving him alone in the world...

Ripper stared at the strangers through wary amber eyes, irritated by their tone. "Care to tell us who you are and why you seem to enjoy denying the possibility of recovery from poison?" he hissed. It was less a request and more an order, the Elder's irritation nearing a peak at their constant onslaught of negativity...

Fatalis licked the blood off his fangs as he looked over at Steeltalon, chuckling. "Haven't had a meal like that in weeks" he growled in obvious satisfaction...

Aurora returned the nod as she nuzzled her youngster, laying down and letting him rest against the curve of her throat, the youngster wasting no time getting into the comfortable spot, the slow, deep, steady rumble of the Allosaur's throat akin to a purr, the sound almost hypnotic to the youngster, sending him to sleep swiftly...

"...****. Well, at least you had parents to begin with. Had them longer than I've been alive..." Aircrest growled, wondering how he always managed to get himself into these situations...

"Be thankful. Being able to remember them makes living without them all the more difficult" growled Crusher lowly...

"Be thankful that I don't even know who my parents are so I don't have to remember them?" Aircrest thought, outwardly snorting at the notion. He wasn't sure if he found that funny or hurtful...

"Oh, we're... close relatives!" Stoneclaw said quickly. "Well, sort of close. It's a long story. Anyway, we've been around the block a few times, and we know a bit about Death Valley, where the Daycrawlers are from, so, uh... yeah, we know a lot about 'em..." Howler added, "I mean, no offense intended, of course, but we've seen this kind of thing before. We don't know of any herbs that can fix it..." He paused. "...still, I'm surprised he hasn't started seeing things yet. What did you give him?"

Sharpclaw and Brighteyes had gone back to where the scouts had met Fatalis earlier, following the scent trail (significantly more cautiously this time around) to try and find where they had gone. Neither Albino spoke, trying to stay as quiet as possible...

Ripper simply sighed as he shook his head. "Of all the fools to try and lie to me, I end up with the only ones on this damned island that can't tell one even when their lives depend on it" he snarled coldly, mostly to himself, though he made sure it was perfectly audible, a dangerous glint in his gaze as he eyed Howler. "You're obviously certain what I'm doing is useless, so there's no point in me wasting my time to tell you" growled the rusty-skinned Raptor...

Crusher sighed as he quelled the memories and anger that had momentarily overwhelmed him, deciding it best not to hold it against the Raptor for bringing it up. he was obviously oblivious to the very concept of loved ones. Trying to salvage the conversation, the Rex decided to inquire about something that bugged him earlier. "Why did you go for the Caudipteryx egg when there was an annoyed Trike right there? It's like asking to be turned into a horn trophy" he growled...

Howler frowned. "Uh, sorry?" he hissed, rather nonplussed at Ripper's attitude. Stoneclaw merely rolled his eyes. "So what? We're being realistic here! If you can save his life, fine then. But until you prove it, I'm not getting my hopes up. I've never seen someone survive a Daycrawler bite. Not one..."

"Things were going fine until the clumsy brute knocked that tree down" Aircrest growled, once again thinking that the entire incident wasn't worth the time and energy. "I guess I was trying to get over another issue by asking for more trouble; if that even makes sense" he explained with a shrug, at this point too tired to question himself.
