The men didn't know whether to laugh or be worried for the visitors. "I don't think your friend knows what he's dealing with," the bearded man said to Jiier, concerned for both of their safety. Jiier smiled, the gesture hidden under his hood. "I'm sure we'll be fine. We've been through quite a lot already," the disguised dragon explained, following after Desrium toward the statue. "We'll be here if you survive!" the man called, the three of them, as well as a few nearby patrons who overheard what they were saying, lifted their drinks in a toast.

Saying nothing in return, the Blood Omen wrapped his arms around the statue and seemingly without effort was able to hoist it from the floor, holding it an angle in the crook of his arm and off to his side. "These people are quite likable" he commented to the dragon in disguise as he started walking to the Great Hall's entrance.

"Indeed. Its quite sad, really," Jiier responded as he walked out of the Hall with Desrium. "Considering what they've been through. Others have gone through much less, and are far less pleasant."

"It is a cruel irony, but at least there are those who are worth saving on this world, even if it means preserving the more...undesirable" said Desrium as he trudged through the packed snow outside, making his way toward the gates.

The bright early rays of the sun saw the City of Tristan eerily quiet. Many of the extra people that had been there yesterday had left, having gone back off to their homes in other villages around Germania. The houses of all those insid ethe city were empty, and the alst if the civilians were being filed into the catacombs. While many of the citizens had been rather afraid to enter in, due to there being a giant 150 foot long snake dwelling within, they had eventually had to swallow their concerns and fears, and head on in. Atop of the rim of the Colusseum, the Dragon Riders and their mounts perched, while mobilized in the seats of the Arena, ere the main armed forces. In the front lines, was Trajan, suited up in armor that seemed a size too large for him, and Dione, who also was sitted with a suit of armor. Behind them and ot their sides were Guame, Byakuren, and Djinn, ready to take on the inevidable.

"Dione, you really should stay in the castle for your own protection." Trajan said, still trying to persuade the new Pope to stay where it was safe. " It isn't right for a young woman liek you to head off into the firing line like this..."

"As the Pope, I am the head of the Church, and a warrior of the Lord. So long as I have faith in him, he shall protect me all my days." Dione responded. Guame and Djinn simply nodded in reply. Unlike the hot air ballons that were the Archbishop and his cronnies, that were now cowaring off in some corner of the church no doubt, Dione was a stone wall, who wouldn't take no for an answer. She'd have her way no matter what... Just like her father. A small smile spread seemed to creep across Guame's face as, for a brief moment, he saw Jeetis, as a young man, in Dione's place...

As the two progressed back through the village, the gray sky gradually unleashed a torrent of snow. Starting as a light sprinkle and progressing into a total blizzard, by the time the two left the confines of the city, it was impossible to see more than a few feet in front of them. Had Jiier been a superstitious creature, he would've thought it was a sign for them to abandon their current pursuits and flee...

The snow banks grew taller and yet Desrium pushed forth undeterred, his passing carving a trail spanning all the way back to Vanguard- a trail that was rapidly being covered by the blizzard. Nevertheless, the Blood Omen continued on with the statue in tow, his flaring eyes marking his position every time they flashed...

It wasn't long before they were on the frozen ocean that made up the harbor. The water was being funneled through a comparatively small opening at the end: the only break in the sea cliffs surrounding the island. Jiier couldn't help but notice the ice creaking and groaning all around them as they walked. Only a few feet from the open, icy sea, Jiier let Desrium move ahead, the simian consumed once again by a brilliant light, changing back into his draconic form. Somehow he knew he'd need to transform eventually. Placing the staff back up his sleeve, the dragon followed after Desrium into the wintry desert that was the frozen ocean...

On the ice shelf, far from the abandoned harbor, Desrium stopped and set the statue before he stepped backwards. His robe was blown in an unforgiving oceanic wind, the snow rushed past him and Jiier. An eerie howling was spawned by the winter breeze rushing in between the rock faces, punctuated by the creaking floe. The mist had extended its smokey veil across the coast, blocking the horizon from sight...

"I wonder where it could-" Jiier began, standing beside Desrium, as a section of ice exploded a long distance away. More and more ice, easily 10 feet thick, was cracked and splintered and thrown around like it was nothing, creating a clear path toward the statuette. The ice stopped before it got too close, the frozen sea returning to the eerie silence that had gripped it once before. Jiier could feel a sense of doubt creeping through his mind...

"It appears to have taken an interest" Desrium commented. He lowered himself to the ice, taking a meditative stance with the snow falling all around him and chunks of broken ice littering the area. His crimson eyes fell on the strip of exposed ocean, staring into the water that reflected the silvery skies above...

As Jiier was about to speak, a shadow appeared underneath the ice directly in front of the path of destruction. Suddenly, the ice exploded, and the Doomfang began to pull itself free. First, its head rose from the waters. Then its neck...and more of its neck...and even more after that. After watching the creature pull its front half out of the ice for nearly three minutes, Jiier began to rethink how easy this would be. The creature was like the sea floor itself, coral and shells adhered to its skin after millenia of dwelling in the depths of the ocean. Its neck was long and slender, while its head was similar to that of an average sea serpent in shape. On its nose was a sharp curved horn, and massive stalks of coral sprouted from the back of its head like gargantuan antlers. On its chin was a tangle of whiskers, with sea weed dangling from various parts of its body. The Doomfang was predominantly a dull blue and green, with dull reds and yellows mixed in, varying in color with the coral that was stuck to its body. Inside its mouth were millions of needle-like teeth, and the creature stood like a gargantuan crocodile.

To call it large was absurd. To call it massive was an understatement This was the largest thing Jiier had ever seen, and, he thought, probably ever would see, assuming they survived the encounter. One of the Doomfang's feet, comparatively small to the rest of its body, was larger than Jiier's entire draconic body. Even more impossible was the sight on its back; folded and coral-encrusted like the rest of its body were two wings. Its tail was almost as long as its neck, and was very eel-like in appearance. The Doomfang looked down at the two from above, looking, from their perspective, as if it expanded as far as the frozen ocean itself, with two massive eyes which glowed a deep blue, obscuring its pupils.

Desrium did not stir at all despite the gargantuan monstrosity that towered over him. Easily dwarfing Chromatus, the titan of the frozen deep would have sent any creature fleeing for dear life. Desrium however, continued to meditate, his eyes flickering as he journeyed into himself once again. It was clear the armored being had the utmost faith in Jiier to keep him from harm as he departed from the physical world...

The Doomfang's glowing eyes narrowed, its neck curved slightly as it regarded them. Jiier was tempted to tuck the meditating Desrium under his arm and flee, but for the moment, stood his ground. The Doomfang's gargantuan eyes regarded the statuette, and they narrowed further, the creature barring its needle-like teeth as it looked back at the two.

The snow around Desrium slowed considerably in an instant, the drifting flakes of frost swinging around him in orbitals as he rose from the frozen ocean. His body hung limply as he levitated, but his head raised, allowing the armored being to get a good look at the humungous creature. The hood was blown back in the freezing wind, flapping behind him as the distinctive features of the Blood Omen's helm returned...

"I don't think this is the time to meditate, Desrium," Jiier growled, slightly irritated by the armor being's behavior. Did he not see how dangerous the situation was? The Doomfang still regarded them with narrowed eyes, somehow standing on the ice without breaking through despite its bulk. The glow of its eyes increased dramatically as the statuette was lifted up and hoisted away from the two, the object landing on one of the barren snow-covered islands surrounding Vanguard Island a considerable distance away.

It was almost as if Desrium did not hear Jiier, the armored being hovering a few feet in the air unmoving as he stared back at the giant. If the statue was what it wanted, then it would leave the waters of Vanguard and allow its inhabitants free reign on their frigid seas. If not, then a battle of extraordinary proportions was about to happen amidst the frozen fury of the north...

"Uhma adhn tukni Soel. Jwah dhij ph," the booming voice of the Doomfang sounded, speaking in a language Jiier had never heard before. Its tail, which appeared to be some degree of prehensile, arched forward and smashed into the meditating Desrium, though the appendage did not stop even there. Cracking through the ice like a war hammer through a plate of glass, it threw Desrium into the icy waters below, before the tail retracted. Immediately, Jiier's body was aglow with energy, his white robe showered with golden light...

The water swelled and exploded outwards from the force of impact, displacing even more ice and breaking apart the shelf, hurling massive fragments away which crashed violently elsewhere. The armored being was nowhere to be seen after the massive limb had disappeared beneath the waves...

The Doomfang made a "hmph" sound, apparently satisfied with its work. The creature stepped off the ice, just as the statuette flew over to it seemingly by its own accord. The gargantuan beast slowly descended into the freezing cold water, creating large ripples as it did, its cold, glowing eyes staring at Jiier as it slowly disappeared. In a few moments, the impossibly huge monster was completely submerged, the statuette following it into the water.
