"Yes. This is not the first time I've seen this blight," the old woman responded, losing a little of her furious determination. Her lean on the staff increased. "I can tell you what I know. I believe its eyes are no longer on us."

Mazdamundi gave the slightest twitch of a finger, and the Temple Guard stood down. "Do so, quickly," he replied, a single blink being his only external sign of affirmation...

The woman sighed. "This being...it seeks to reclaim Aster. It was locked away millions of years ago. Only those adapted to survive in the darkened, starved land survived this exposure, like myself," she explained, sticking to what was relevant for the Lizardmen to know if they wished to prevent disaster. She chose her words carefully...with good reason. "If we do not act, it will happen again. And there will be nothing to save us this time."

Sulrana obediently followed in Thalion's wake, ears pricked straight up, head swiveling with every springy step, seemingly still full of energy even after their flight. Myrn on the other hand, shuffled onward slowly and reluctantly, dropping a bit behind the others, head and tail held low. Her pointed ears twitched when Andruil and Tetto'eko spoke, and her orange gaze suddenly locked on the Knight, almost as though she was intent on listening to what he was about to say...

"The Old Ones did not foresee this..." Mazdamundi mused. "How was this being imprisoned? We must know if we wish to stop it..."

"It was imprisoned by..." the woman paused, thinking. "...others of its race. I'm afraid we do not possess the means to repeat what They have done."

"And what do you propose, spirit-being?" Mazdamundi asked. Clearly, she wasn't human, and she certainly wasn't the average shapeshifter. Out of politeness, Mazdamundi had not attempted to probe her mind to find out, deciding a more cautious approach was necessary...

"Its complicated. Far too complicated and risky to explain here...But if you agree to lend aid to our cause, all will be explained in time," the old woman responded. She had many other places to visit if they wished to conjure a force large enough to stand against this dire situation...

The wrinkles of Mazdamundi's forehead deepened as he furrowed his brows. "You expect me to trust everything you say on a whim, and lend my warriors to your cause without a second thought?" he asked, though the question was clearly rhetorical...

The woman bowed her head. "You must understand the severity and complexity of this situation," she said calmly, staring at the ground. "There are things...What I am asking is an impossible task. Something that has never been done before in our history, this world's history, possibly ALL of history!" the woman's voice began to grow louder, the light around her beginning to flicker, as if it were an open flame. The woman raised her staff and brought the flattened end against the ground hard. Immediately, a stream of energy shot into the air, becoming gaseous and dark. In the midst of the shadowy mass, two glaring eyes appeared, staring at them all with a hatred and cruelty that they could not fathom. "We fight the very power of creation itself! We defy that which gave us LIFE!" the old woman howled, throwing her arms up as the mass expanded to an immense size, casting its ancient gaze over the entire city. And as soon as it appeared, it dispersed, the energy returning to the old woman, who lowered her arms and leaned heavily on her staff once more.

The Lizardmen of the city looked up at the eyes in the sky, pausing in their work. Mazdamundi, however, did not flinch, not until the illusion vanished. Amazingly, the Slann actually leaned forward, just enough to stare down at the woman. "Then answer me this: who are you, spirit? One of its kind? The ones who, as you say, gave us life?"

The woman chuckled. "No...no, I am just an unfortunate soul who has seen the end and had enough luck to survive through it," she explained, her voice growing soft once again. "What I am has many names. Changeling, elemental, spirit. But you may call me Tzeentch."

"I have heard tales of you, Tzeentch," Mazdamundi replied. "If you are saying is true, and if it is indeed a threat to my people... I will consider helping you. I must convene with the other Mage-Priests. You may return later, when we have come to an agreement."

"I'm afraid I haven't the time," Tzeentch said with a frown. "If you heed my words, you and your armies will go to the site of Agnaroth. It is an ancient shrine we will use as our staging ground," she explained, pulling a map from the sleeve of her robe. The direction of Agnaroth from the Lustrian jungles was clearly marked. Placing the folded map on the ground, the changeling gave a deep bow. "I hope to see you soon, Mazdamundi of the Lizardmen. This world is just as much yours as it is mine."

And with that, Tzeentch, staff and all, changed back into the form of a raven and flew away...

As Tzeentch flew off, the Priest plucked the map from the ground. It hovered out of his claw and towards Mazdamundi, who unraveled it telekinetically. His facial expression did not change. Instead, he went back to his chambers. If this threat was truly as dire as Tzeentch claimed, he would need to convene with the rest of his kind, and quickly...

The strap of the satchel became undone and unfurled, shooting up and flapping against Septimus' side as Desrium poked his head from within. The rush of the air was audible once more as he looked out over the landscape. What he saw was naturally darkening skies over the desert, the dust storms seeming to have subsided. Contrasting drastically with the coming dusk was the entire absence of light that formed the pillar of darkness in the distance, its shadowing tendrils stretching out over the land. "The unicorn would not like this" he mused.

Septimus went into a steep descent, seemingly hurtling directly for the ground, before arcing upwards, levelling with the ground as he approached the massive walls of Silverlake City, large red stone barriers dotted with hundreds, if not thousands of narrow windows, tall, domed towers spread evenly along the walls' length, the walls themselves dotted with wide heavy ballista platforms. eyeing the weapons from a distance, he was fairly sure a single well placed shot would be fatal to all but the largest and most powerful of aerial beasts. landing, the Dragon walked towards the gates, noticing that the faint outlines of archers could be seen in nearly every window facing towards them, the ballistae shifting by degrees to line up shots should he make any sudden moves. The dragon furled his wings and dimmed the patterns decorating his form, knowing the glow of runes would make them nervous. before the Dragon, two tall black gates stood, lined with spikes that looked to be designed to make forced entry a suicidal endeavour. They looked to be made of some form of chitinous plating, though Septimus couldn't say what beast would have been massive enough or sufficiently well armoured to have provided such chitin to serve as gates...

"The Archdemon's begun its war" responded Andruil to the reptilian priest...

Jiier landed a few feet behind Septimus, watching the archers carefully, but forced himself to remain calm and non-threatening. As best as a dragon could be, anyway.

Desrium hoisted himself from the satchel and up the side of the draconic scholar, kicking at the flap as he left so that it would fall forwards and cover its contents. Once again on the dragon's back, the armored being beheld the imposing wall just ahead. "This will not be like Vanguard. It might be worse than Daaven" he said to Septimus, red eyes looking up to the nooks in which the archers and ballistae took aim...
