Mindful of Elias, Vix murmured, "I'll be glad to get back; there was so much work to be done..." She rolled her shoulders, trying to ease some of the tension in the muscles, and gave a soft sigh, lowering her voice further. "If only that archdemon hadn't come along. Things might have been less difficult."

Elias's face cringed as he slept as he watched again in his sleep his moment close to death when the blade of the rebal peiced his chest . He grasped at his chest where the scar is as he slept almost as if he felt the pain freash again . " don't leave me here " he mummered softly as he hand fell back to the side .
" Dear God the only thing I ask of you is
to hold her when I'm not around,
when I'm much too far away
We all need that person who can be true to you
But I left her when I found her
And now I wish I'd stayed
'Cause I'm lonely and I'm tired
I'm missing you again oh no
Once again " - avenged sevenfold dear god

As Septimus walked through the courtyard, he took note of the structures around him. dilapidated stone walls ran along either side of the courtyard, seemingly made up of large rocks, cut and shaped to form rough bricks, vines hanging from the cracks in the the stone structures, various mosses and lichens dotting the aging walls, growing out of cracks in the rock and hanging off the vines that seemed to interlace the decaying temple's walls. the smoothed stone flooring was cracked, and a shallow field of grass had taken up most of the floor where solid stone didn't impede its advance. It was a sobering reminder that as great as the creations of men, elves and dwarves could be, all eventually succumbed to the might of nature. the temple at the top of the staircase before them was no more a stranger to that power than the ground below, with grasses growing along the ground up until the entrance of the temple itself, where Septimus guessed the ceiling had prevented sunlight from feeding the growth of any plant life. His interest was tugged towards the massive hammer that stood in the courtyard, its strange shape intriguing to the Dragon. It looked nothing like the architecture of any civilisation he had studied before in his exploration of history books. Knowing the nature of the forces at work here, he was tempted to believe this may well be something from a time before modern history began; a time before libraries or books...at least, before the ones that survived to this day. The Dragon proceeded onwards towards the stairs, ascending...

"Don't worry. We won't let it succeed. A lost eye will be the least of its problems next time we meet" said Andruil reassuringly, glancing at their guest as he mumbled in his sleep, a brow raising curiously...

As Jiier followed Septimus up the stairs and into the temple itself, he was partially awe-struck at how massive the structure was on the inside. The ceiling loomed several yards above their heads, and the hall they were traveling through, though cracked and dirty, was extremely wide, as if the entire structure was made for a race of giants. Unlike the courtyard and the other structures, the temple itself was far more decorative. Marble floor lay before them, with extravagant windows carved into the sides of the structure, letting sun and the smell of the jungle outside into the structure. Unlike the floor, which was mostly clear of overgrowth, vines and moss hung from the windows, as if nature was trying desperately to reach inside.

As they progressed through the ruins, they could see what appeared to be stone depictions of some sort. But due to the wear of time, what was once on the stones was completely eroded away, giving very little indication it was ever anything more than a cut rock. As the trio turned down another hall some distance from the entrance, they eventually came to a gargantuan room with pillars and ornate carvings all around them. Of course, these too were suffering the ravages of time, but were strangely well preserved compared to the rest of the structure. A massive, expertly carved window loomed at the back wall, normally, during the day, casting in an unobstructed ray of sun, but also gave them a clear view of the darkness that continued to creep toward them. Along the sides of the room stood stone pedestals, all of which were devoid of whatever was once on top of them. All except for one, which was situated toward the back of the room. On it stood a golden statuette of what appeared to be an unknown sea serpent, encrusted with gems more brilliant than anything known to exist on Aster.

Kneeling in utter silence in front of the statuette was a gargantuan humanoid, easily larger than a grown man even while hunched over as such. The giant's skin was a pale whitish blue, and had mossy green hair that draped down past its shoulders. It wore what appeared to be armor made of brilliantly colored coral, with various forms of sea life embedded within. Although gigantic in height, the giant was somewhat lanky looking, though undeniably muscular in appearance. The salty smell of the sea wafted over to Jiier, Septimus, and Desrium, as if they were standing before the ocean itself. The giant did not seem to react to their presence, continuing to kneel before the statuette with a look of deep concentration, perhaps even sorrow...

Vix managed a faint smile, though worry still shadowed her features. "Even in victory, we'll see many of our friends fall," she said. "Do you think the price will be worth it in the end?" The worry in her expression darkened to concern as she eyes Elias; he was caught in the grip of a dream, and not a good one from the look of it.

Desrium's scarlet stare befell the giant before it passed over to the golden statuette. Rain spilled in through the opening in the wall in front of him, collecting in puddles or running along grooves in the weathered tiles and seeping through cracks. The armored being swung himself over Septimus' side and let himself fall to the ground, the sound of his metal feet landing echoing in the chamber. "I thought you would not be here for the end, Doomfang" said the Blood Omen as he approached the mourning giant.

Elias stopped moving as he bi his lip as he tried to hold in a scream as he felt the pain again of the blade going across his face and threw his chest . He drew some blood then let go of his lip and started to sleep somewhat peacefully .

Septimus's eyes drifted over the details of the surrounding walls, floor and ceiling, soaking up the intricacies of the temple's design with perfect accuracy, the Dragon watching in awe as he passed through the halls leading up to the massive chamber. eyeing the giant at the end of the chamber, and the statuette before which it knelt, the Dragon's curiosity was piqued. This seemed to be the source of the anomaly...and as he picked up the smell of the sea, he realised why. The Dragon's eyes narrowed, observant of the giant's actions before the statuette, realising almost in time with Desrium's inquiry that this statuette was the same which Desrium had told him was at the core of the Vanguard incident....and that apparently...this giant was in reality, the beast that the Blood Omen had encountered...

"Death, I'm afraid, finds us all eventually. Though, while we certainly MIGHT die fighting it...I believe it's probably better than the guarantee of death if we do not fight" responded Andruil...

"True." Vix cocked her head, an odd feeling she couldn't place settling over her. She vaguely recognized it; she'd felt the same way after her parents had been gradually worked to death, leaving her truly alone. She gave a tiny nod, as if to herself, and said with a small half-smile, "Whatever the outcome will be, I'm glad to have met you." She didn't know why she said it; it just felt like something that needed to be said.

"Things have changed," the giant replied as it slowly stood, its voice loud and commanding, echoing throughout the room. At full height, the giant could just about look Septimus in the eyes. Hanging from its waist was a massive ornate mace, which gleamed with crystalline coral sharpened to a razor's edge. With one last look at the statuette, it turned to face them, its pupils glowing like a blue-tinted flame. Jiier was considerably confused to see what appeared to be the Doomfang again. Furthermore, he had no clue what Desrium was talking about. To his knowledge, he didn't even know the Doomfang spoke the Asterian language, much less communicated with himself or the Blood Omen.

Draco soon appeared before his assembled troops, the howling winds buffeting the city of Draxon. It was a cold and dreary outside, with the drifting flakes of snow blanketing the sky with their majesty. Despite the sorrow that hung in the air, one could not help but feel somewhat hopeful and a bit glad from the beautiful majesty that the world offered to them. Draco, despite being hardened and cold now, felt a bit happier on the inside. Perhaps his people had some hope.

"Soldiers of the All-Seeing One," Draco commanded, "Our peopel are strong and hard-willed, but a dark cloud descends upon our kingdom. A dark cloud of villainy and betrayal, one of great power! Soon, we shall sweep across the lands and purge them of this great evil! But, first we must gather more troops. Our armies have swelled greatly in the past few days; our many provinces have given us more than enough troops to defend. But, when the troops from Snowmourne and Frostbane arrive, we will be able to do something that Draxon has not done in over a century: attack!"

A cry arose amongst the assembled soldiers.

"We will make our kingdom the strongest in all of Aster! have we not wallowed in the corner of the world for lon enough?! Brothers, it is time we carry out Greshlynk's will! The time of the Dragon King shall come! The flames of purity shall purge these corrupted lands of our enemies! To arms, comrades, TO ARMS!"

The soldiers cried out, and even some of the peasants cried out from hearing Draco's speech. The grizzled, mentally exhausted king cracked a smile. All shall go according to plan. Now all he had to do was play the waiting game...

"Clearly" Desrium replied, a flare of his eyes accompanying his gesture to the ever reaching shadows. He stopped mere feet away from the giant, looking up into its icy eyes. "Then I assume you are here to assist us?" he asked.

Elias woke up and wiped the blood form his lip as he tried to get up . He went to take but winced in pain and sat back down . He decided to not speak he had no Place to .he began gazing into the fire thinking of death of. The lives he had cut short . He looked down at his hand and sighed remebering the smell of the blood that once coated them .

Andruil smiled as she spoke. "The pleasure, my dear, is all mine" he answered as he looked up at the star-speckled sky above, shimmering dots against the black backdrop of the cosmos, his expression sobering a bit as he thought over events passed. "I promise you though, it'll take more than a Demon to take us down. It'll have no idea what hit it" he added, smirking...

Septimus watched on, intrigued. The voice of this being was the same as the one that summoned them in the desert city. It seemed they had a new ally in this war.....question was....just how were they to defeat such a being as the shadow had proven itself to be?

Not far, another creature closed in on the shrine. white runes decorated the Dragon's dark grey hide, a reddish glow emanating from the patterns decorating his upper torso. white eyes stared out through the storm, seeming to see a target where most could not. Hmmm....Interesting. It seems they've resumed the Rituals.....the fools thought Arashi as he changed course, heading straight for the shrine. Strange. There was something else there. Other mana signatures....and distortions. Something was trying to hide itself there...The Stormweaver smirked. This would be interesting indeed...

"Yes," the giant responded simply, showing no sign of explaining further.

"...Why? What could you possibly gain from this?" Jiier growled, finally voicing his confusion. Not only did the citizens of Vanguard inform them that the Doomfang wasn't even from Aster, but it had apparently told Desrium it would not be here for 'the end'.

"Nothing. I was prepared to leave this place to its fate, but as I reached the open seas, the Mistress of Storms contacted me herself," the giant explained, its gaze shifting to Jiier, its expression unchanging. "She told me of Aster's blighted past, and the effort that was being made to rebel against destiny. She and the Others believe Aster may yet be saved, and thus, so do I."

"Blighted past? What happened?" inquired Septimus, genuinely intrigued by the implications. It seemed there truly was more to history than he had learned in the books...perhaps within lay clues to Aster's salvation...

Myrn directed a loud caw at the other gryphon as she made up her mind and banked away opposite the direction Thalion had taken, diving steeply toward the dark trees, heading toward a large gap in the branches that she could slip through. It wasn't exactly where she would need to be to ambush the deer, but she could easily cover the short distance on foot once she landed. As the black and white creature approached the forest opening, she slowed almost to a hover and carefully began to drop below the leaves. Sulrana turned to glance at the receding gryphon, slowing her flight and turning in tight circles, unable to decide which of her flockmates to follow...

"I hope you're right," Vix said, returning the smile. As Elias moved, she turned and gave him a searching look. "Just a catnap?" she asked, her tone light. There was a serious gleam in her eye, though, as she studied him, wondering how long he'd been awake.

"Before I begin," the giant began, raising a hand. "Enough of this 'Doomfang' nonsense. I am Radamand, servant of Soel," Radamand concluded, giving a short bow. "This being we must destroy, the Traitor, is one of eight deities that formed the continents of this world, and allowed life to grow and flourish," the giant explained, extending his hands, from which streams of energy emerged, twirling and dancing above his massive palms. "This was their duty: to spread and protect life. They had done so since time began, and continue to do so to this very day. The Traitor, after creating what you call 'Aster', decided that this continent would become his and his alone." The energy began to form various shapes, including a rough outline of the continent of Aster.

Part of the energy darkened and became gaseous, two glaring eyes emerging within, as the dark cloud hovered over the spectral Aster. The shadows that comprised its being began to spread over the little continent, eventually engulfing it entirely. "The Traitor's actions decimated life on this continent. It was for these acts that he was punished by the other gods." More energy emerged from Radamand's palms, twisting into what appeared to be a constellation of a unicorn. The little unicorn galloped through the darkness, much to the apparent despair of the cloud of energy, eventually pushing it from the spectral Aster entirely. "The Traitor was stripped of his power and imprisoned beneath the very land we stand upon. It was the belief of the people, and of the gods, that he would remain there for the rest of time. This is not the case," the giant concluded, the little continent and unicorn dispersing into the air...
