Icil's eyes were seemingly glittery at the sound of the power of this blade. If she could find it, she could surely stop Cyris from hunting down all of Aster.

"So the wielder of this blade you speak of... 'Soul Edge...' will become corrupted from its power alone?"

The storyteller turned to Icil, a smile on his face.

"Yes..." he replied. "It is said that those who had wielded Soul Edge after Algol's demise became a legendary warrior named 'Nightmare'... however, the sword has been long lost to the world, as has its counterpart, Soul Calibur..."

Icil's face made a pleased grin as she thought about this, although if she were to be corrupted she herself would become basically another Cyris. However, if she could find Soul Calibur...

"I do not know if or how Soul Calibur affects it wielder," the storyteller said. "All I know is that it contains great healing power."

Interesting, Icil thought to herself. Soul Calibur would grant her the power to heal herself, combined with her necromancy. This could prove vital to stopping Cyris for good. The succubus's wings stretched out, folding themselves neatly behind her back. She decided that she might stay at this inn for about a day or two...

Septimus, walked into the camp of the Hukkamil-Birran, drawing the gaze of several of their guards. As one came to stop him, Septimus smiled, reaching into the satchel and producing the Eye of the Afreet. "A couple of days ago, your leader gave me this" explained Septimus, the guard eyeing the Eye for a moment, before nodding. "The Eye was given to a Dragon" responded the guard, Septimus's eyes glowing purple for an instant as the image of his Dragon form flashed in the guard's mind. "This Dragon. Correct?" He inquired. "Yes". With that, Septimus lifted his arms forward, revealing the runic tattoos that lined his arms, identical to those that defined his Draconic form. "A shapeshifter...interesting. Very well. You may pass" he said, Septimus nodding gratefully as he entered the camp.

The soldiers were clustered into groups, practicing multiple activities to keep them on their toes, many organising duelling competitions, using their weapons actively so that they would not be disorientated when going into battle. Others wrestled with some of the smaller warbeasts, dog-like reptilians with large, jagged fangs and muscular bodies. the Scholar's gaze fell on Antar, the 'Qaid' or King of the Hukkamil-Birran, clad in a white coat and what looked like light clothing underneath. His platinum hair was tied back and ducked under the coat. In his hands was a black, curved blade, looking like a scimitar to a degree, though it was two-handed, the weapon looking formidable as it reflected the faintest violet tint in the glare of the moonlight. Before him stood what was most likely one of his generals, the man wearing a similar clothing, though lacking the coat. The man was armed with silver duel blades. Septimus joined the crowd of soldiers around the two as they duelled, the two a sight to behold as their blades clashed in a flurry of black and silver, the King parrying and blocking the General's blows and redirecting them at the faster opponent, as the General himself brought down a hailstorm of swings, bringing in what must've been a half dozen blows a second, though the King impressively managed to block them all. as the General dropped in a twisting, sweeping kick, the King leapt, landing a powerful kick in the General's shoulder as he flipped back, landing on his feet, sword twisted downwards in front of his face, as the General rolled backwards, skidding to a halt as he rose to his feet, before nodding to the King, the two sheathing their weapons as Antar turned to face Septimus, catching sight of the shapeshifter amidst the crowd due to his glowing eyes, which contrasted somewhat with the dim glint of the others...

"Ah. Septimus, my friend. Welcome to my camp. My apologies for not greeting you sooner. I was training with my friend and General, Hatim. It has been...a trying couple of days for my people. The Hukkamil-Birran haven't been forced to prepare for war at such a scale as this in decades. Our men are excellent fighters, as are the women, and even some of the children. But it isn't easy to absorb the fact that...how to put it...that life as they once knew it may change entirely" explained the King as he walked away from the group, gesturing for Septimus to follow. "I understand what you mean...I don't think anyone can really accept such a sudden change...especially something of that magnitude" responded the Scholar with a nod. Antar nodded, thankful for the Dragon's understanding. "I should not bother you with my troubles. Tell me, friend. What brings you here?" inquired the Dark Elven King. "I was hoping that perhaps you could have someone teach me in the arts of sword fighting. I know the basics, and I believe I may have a feel for my blade...But I do not want to be flailing my weapon like a fool in a situation where my life may depend on it" said Septimus lowly. "It would be a pleasure to teach you, friend. Come. Best we choose a location where we will not be disturbed by a crowd" said the King, much to Septimus's surprise. the King called to his guards, barking in an authoritative voice Septimus had not heard from him before. It was the tone more befitting of a Drill sergeant to his men than of a King. It was clear that, regardless of appearances, these people were men of war...

A group of guards assembled and followed the King as he walked, Septimus at his side as they found a relatively quiet area of the camp, the soldiers dispersing to form a perimeter around the designated arena, though they were far enough from them that they were out of immediate sight, their dark clothing hiding them amidst the trees. As Antar stepped into the centre, he looked up at Septimus. "Draw your sword, son of Khulruud. I will show you to fight like a Barari Warrior" said the King as he held his sword in one hand, Septimus drawing his own and assuming a combat stance...

Andruil chuckled at the response he was given. "Well that's disappointing. For a moment I thought you'd say you had a giant scaly rabbit deity up there" he responded before reaching to gather the satchels. He eyed Vix, debating the option of having her ride alone this time, as she would undoubtedly eventually need to learn to pilot a Gryphon or Hippogriff eventually. He glanced around, looking for Myrn, considering her as a possible option, as she had a calm yet shy personality that seemed to be a good option for a beginner like Vix...

Elsewhere, the Valenhadian army had halted in the forest, making a camp a fair distance from the shrine, if only because their massive forces needed the space and did not want to crowd the shrine with their presence. The Knight Commander rested in his tent, fatigued from the travel, as was a fair portion of the forces. Additionally, as the army was still assembling and setting up camp, he could not afford to depart for the shrine at the centre of the forest, fully aware that the structure on the plateau was the most likely base of operations for the joint forces of Aster. Thus, the General decided he would wait and rest until the Valenhadian camp was fully set up, and then depart for the temple...

Meanwhile, over the fighting arena of Jiier and the shadow beast, Arashi soared, watching the incident warily. He dared not attack when the two were in such close proximity. He considered separating the two with a kinetic shockwave, but with the speed of Jiier's movements, the Stormweaver's follow-up attack would risk striking him. So for now, he remained detached from the battle below, though waiting for a sufficient opportunity to assist...

The Storyteller soon spoke once more. "Alright, well, if any of you would like to know more about the Swords or Algol, you can see me in my chamber. I'm tired today, ladies and gents, So I'll just be heading back on up."

The man soon began to head up the stairs. The room was silent for only a few moments, before music from a bard nearby began to penetrate every inch of the room...

Resonating from the forest below, Nitsunobue could pick up the faint sounds of conflict, and the vibrations travelling through the earth. It had been a while since the two beings had been at the shrine, and he recognized the sounds as distinctly as their vocals. The wyvern got to his feet, following the vibrations as he headed across the narrow ravine and rushed down into the forest, hoping he could help before it was too late...

The furious fighting and destruction only continued to worsen, the two combatants never far from one another for more than a second. Black and red blood was thrown across the ancient forest, as trees came toppling down in the flurry of carnage. Jiier's claws managed to catch the shadow beast's tail at one point, severing it completely. The beast howled and threw itself back onto the maned dragon, sending both of them crashing into another tree, which splintered noisily before crashing down beside them. As the fiend clawed frantically at Jiier's chest, the maned dragon thrust his head forward, impaling his horn into the edge of the creature's neck before tearing it out the side, causing blackened liquid to spurt out. The beast howled in pain as Jiier sank his claws into its chest, lifting it up off of him with one immense push. With a savage growl, Jiier hurtled them both into the air with a few flaps of his wings, moving higher and higher as the eyeless fiend struggled to free itself, seemingly unable to become gaseous this time.

As the two combatants loomed several hundred feet above the treetops, Jiier wrenched one clawed hand free before uppercutting the struggling shadow beast with it, impaling the claws into its bottom jaw. Pulling his limbs in opposite directions, the maned dragon tore the shadow fiend in two with an enraged roar that echoed for miles, showering himself in its blackened blood. The two halves of his foe slid off his claws a moment later, plummeting down into the forest as the maned dragon hung in the air, vapor escaping his flared nostrils as he breathed.

Icil decided that she had some stories of her own to tell. The succubus arose from the chair she was in.

Desrium rose a considerable distance away from Jiier, unable to keep up with the dragon though he was empowered with magic. With his shimmering blue eyes he eyed the rain of gore that painted the treetops black those hundreds of feet below. Raising his sights, he looked at the golden maned drake, contemplating how far his rage would take him. His staff meant as much to him as the jagged blade once meant to Desrium. To lose it in such a manner was surely devastating to the shapeshifter.

A powerful roar rocked Nitsunobue's ears, as he felt the powerful vibrations rattle his heavy, muscular frame. The wyvern had never felt a roar of such power before! The horned wyvern couldn't help but hope that the roar belonged to the dragon who was at the shrine, and not some other beast. The wyvern soon continued his descent, heading into the woods...

"Sure, go ahead, pretty lady," a man, clad in heavy armor, said with a smirk. "I'm sure you've got PLENTY of interesting stories..."

Sulrana had stopped moving in circles and began eying Thalion mischievously, starting to pace off to his side, making ever-more-bold passes, each getting slightly closer than before. Having calmed now that she knew there was no danger, Myrn turned away from the other gryphon's antics and padded into view of the small gathering, setting her intelligent orange gaze on them, getting the impression they were going to be flying again soon. She briefly turned her eyes skyward, ruffling her pointed black wings as she felt a very slight echo of the unsettling sensation she had first felt in the red dragon's shadow - a tiny thumping so light she wasn't sure whether it was really there, situated right in the center point of her white neck ring. But with a shake of her lean feathered and furred body, it was once again gone...

Icil smirked at the man's words. She sat in the same place of which the Storyteller had told his tales upon.

"Have any of you seen a Vespasian before? They are very interesting people, with a culture just as fascinating. I shall tell you about my travel partner, who was a Vespasian himself..."

Arashi watched, impressed by the scale of the destruction, watching as Jiier hovered furiously in the air. He remained silent and watchful however, prepared to restrain the Dragon should his rage threaten to spill over onto the allies scattered around the shrine...

Septimus took several paces to the side, noting the distant roar that he guessed was likely Jiier attempting to overcome his power once more, putting it to the back of his mind as he focused on the man before him. A few moments passed in silence before Septimus moved forward, taking two steps as his blade swung upwards diagonally, the King deflecting it easily with a twist of his wrist, his sword clashing with Septimus's blade, the latter's arm flying outwards as Septimus found the King's sword pointed at his chest. "Where did you go wrong there? Can you tell?" asked Antar calmly, as Septimus's sword collided with the King's, knocking it off to the side as Septimus spun back into a half crouch, sword at his side, ready for another clash. "Not sure" responded the Scholar. "Swinging your blade in at an angle that your opponent could see coming. That swing was aimed as though you wanted me to block it. If you want to learn, you must come at me as if you intended to kill me" said the King, before bolting forward, twisting as his blade flew towards Septimus's head, the Scholar ducking as he used a spinning kick, not unlike the one the General had used on Antar earlier, the blow tripping the King as he straightened, causing him to flip, the man reaching his arms out, catching himself mid-fall and pushing himself back up, flipping forward onto his feet as he spun round, his sword arced down in front of his face. "Better. It appears you've already learned the value of striking unpredictably" said the King. Septimus shook his head. "Not really. I just ran by instinct" responded the Scholar. "Good! A warrior in tune with his instincts is a living weapon on the battlefield. The sooner you can tune into the predatory nature of your kind, the sooner you will learn to employ that mental edge in combat" explained the King...

Thalion snorted as he turned to eye Sulrana, his intense golden eyes seeming to burn into the Gryphon. As she got particularly close, the Hippogriff lunged, headbutting the overly energetic Gryphon with a hiss, warning her of future approaches. Andruil meanwhile, eyed Myrn as she approached, gesturing for her to come closer...

Jiier's head turned slowly to face Desrium, his pupils returning as he did. The look he gave the Blood Omen was one not of rage, but of sorrow. The maned dragon turned his attention back to the forest, gliding back down to the source of the conflict wordlessly. As Jiier touched down into the unnatural clearing, his summoned power dispersed with a flash of light, his hair returning to its normal shape. The dragon made his way over to where the staff lay, untouched by the conflict, in two pieces on the ground. Engulfed in light once again, Jiier shrunk back down to his simian form before kneeling down before the shattered weapon, hanging his head in silence.

Moments later, Desrium was drifting into place, levitating a few feet behind Jiier and to his right, sharing the silence that came in the wake of the violence. While the one who wronged was now a bloodied stain in the forest, Jiier remained the victim, his cherished weapon now in pieces, and the armored being could do nothing to fix it.

The man's eyebrow perked up in curiosity. The man pulled out his pipe, quickly began to smoke it. A cloud of smoke exitted his mouth and nostrils before he spoke.

"Vespasian? Never heard of such a creature. Care to tell us more?"

The others gathered in the pub listened intently, the warrior leaning in closer as he took in another deep breath of from his pipe. His grizzled features, long, unkempt hair, and scraggly beard painted an image of experience and age, and his armor and sword looked just as old and worn as he was. Yet, this experienced warriro from the north seemed to have no knowledge of these beings... and he was quite curious now.

Icil smiled, knowing that this would interest this man very much.

"The Vespasians are these very... wasp-like people, a little shorter than I am. They're very experienced with healing and engineering. They say that their exoskeleton shines like a new sword. They live in a forest on the other side of Aster in a city which hangs from a giant tree, which they call 'Hive Meta.' Their queen is very nice... Anyhow, Vespasians are actually scattered around Aster. My travel partner was one, his name was Yarith... Yarith Kakari, if I remember correctly. He traveled with me, until one day... well... he disappeared... I don't know if he's dead, though. I heard that he became a salesman after fighting in a war or something like that. We were great friends until that one day..."
