As Trajan sat at the dining room table, waiting for his servants to finish preparing breakfast, his mind found itself thinking about a number of incidents that occured in the past 2 years... various Germanian noblemen whom had been murdered. All of them had been quite influential, but aside from their status, there was no way that their deaths were connected. A few were from fire-related causes, but they seemed to be few and far between. The last one had been of Jeetis himself, and since then, none others had occured... Just what WAS the connection between the murders that had started shortly after he had became Emperor?

As usual, Dione and Byakuren were out infront of the castle, the experienced mage helping Dione out with her ice magic...

Mara exited from her room quicker than expected. Fully garbed in her usual attire, the half-demon made her way to her throne, then sat down upon it, the snake-headed staff's eyes seeming to glow as its owner spoke out in a loud, powerful voice, one that resounded across the entire castle.

"Orcs, the time has come that you get the blood that you have so yearned for! A massive conflict shall erupt across Aster. We ourselves shall take no part in it, but as you all long for the glory of battle, I shall lead you to get what you so desire!"

Four hours later, Tzeentch and Radamand stood side by side at the southern edge of the ancient forest, the thundering sounds of armies on the move echoing behind them. The clatter of armor, the footfalls of hundreds of thousands of soldiers, the bestial cries of imposing war beasts; the forest was alive with the sounds of impending war. The two ancient beings looked skyward, shadowy tendrils reaching out above, casting the area into a false dusk. They stood now at the threshold of the blight that threatened to engulf the entire continent. Looking toward the center, they could only see a curtain of darkness, as black as the depths of space, staring back at them. It was as if the heart of their home had become a world all its own, one of shadow and fear.

"He will see us coming, there is no question of that," Radamand growled, his ornate mace held in one massive hand. Tzeentch nodded.

"His own arrogance will blind him until it is far too late."

Nitsunobue stood within the ranks that had made themselves in the ancient forest. At long last, he would fight! Fight for freedom, for justice, for VENGEANCE! The wyvern had yearned for ages for a battle of this magnitude. Even beneath his wise and somewhat socially awkward husk, he wanted to taste combat. Especially against an evil of this magnitude. Perhaps now, he could find a place in this world- a palce he could enjoy. If not, then he will live happily with the idea of beign a defender of this beautiful realm...

20,000 of Draxon's finest soldiers stood tall in the darkness. They were slightly scared in the shadowy realm, but they were assured that this was where they must stand in this conflict. Soon, the general, clad in his golden armor and atop his mighty stallion, spoke to his men.

"Today, we shall battle the enemies of Greshlynk!" the general said. "Whatever comes, we shall stand our ground. The will of God's chosen cannot be broken! We have seen things no man should... we cannot be defeated! The blood of the heathens shall be spilled upon this day!"

The soldiers all erupted in cheers. This battle would be one of legends...

The orcs had already begun their march to Tristan. They did not have much farther to go to reach their destination...

Amongst the forces set to free Aster from the dark evil, were the forces of Germania, led by the old beastman and his helper. Both looked at the darkness ahead, and while Guame had a look of grim determination on his face, Djinn's was one of pure excitement. The energy she was feeling coming from up ahead, she liked it. It made her feel powerful and invincible. A massive grin spread across her face. So the battle to determine Aster's fate was about to unfold? This she was going to enjoy...

The rest of the army was more frightened of what was ahead than anything else, but, determined to follow orders, they hid their fear as best they could...

Back at Tristan, Trajan was working hard to try and find out just what the connection of the murders were. It was an issue that was eating up at him from the inside, and he needed to know. He had gone off to the library to do research, pulling up everyone's name, and as far as he could tell, there WAS no connection. Now back at the table with Dione and Byakuren, he groaned in irritance...

At the head of the Orc army, Mara could spot the wall up ahead through the swampy forest. She looked to her side, noting the giant mound moving just a few meters away. Had it not been for her personal pet, the army would have suffered more than quite a few attacks from Zeuglodons and Gandiors...

"Everyone, stop here!" She ordered...

The orcs immediately stopped, awaiting their commands. They wanted blood, and expected it, but they were sure their lord would allow them to fight...

The armies of the Lizardmen were implacable, unfazed by the darkness above them. They marched inexorably forward, aware of the danger, but not fearing it. Fear in the face of this darkness would lead to utter destruction, so they would face it as they always had faced an enemy: with the cold-blooded emotionless that made them so feared by the warm-blooded races of Aster...

Discord kept his distance from the surrounding armies, high in the sky. He smirked, amused. The chaos spirit, while rarely one to pick sides, seemed to be between a rock and a hard place. On one hand, he hated this boring little rock he had been trapped on for so long. On the other hand, until he could find a way home, he couldn't well stand by and let the place be destroyed. Not with HIM on it, anyway. Unless this little "Traitor God" could get him home, no strings attached, it looked like he was stuck with the band of underdogs for the time being. Discord wasn't much for direct fighting, and he wasn't dumb enough to try and mess with Aster's ley lines, so he had resigned to just watching. Now THAT, he was good at...

Zazikel had told Dhoulmagus to wait with the Shadowreavers, while he provided a morale boost to his human playthings. When the humans arrived, he would send the Ra'zac to alert the creatures to begin their surprise attack. Zazikel vast leathery wings carried him towards Draco's army with ease, arriving quickly. He would need to lead the attack himself, alongside the Traitor's own legions of the damned...

Icil sighed as she removed the band in her hair that formed her ponytail, her hair falling into long and black strands. The succubus was sitting on the back of her feet, her knees touching the ground as she continued to fiddle with her hair, her fingertips carefully running through like a river slowly forming a canyon around its banks.

"Do you ever think about what if something in your life didn't happen?" she asked calmly, her orange eyes shifting to Rattlebones...

"ZAZIKEL."

The sound was like a crash of thunder in the blackened realm. The soil beneath the Draxonian army's feet was blackened and dead, drained of all life, becoming a desolate wasteland dotted with seemingly bottomless chasms. Throughout this horrific darkness, acid rain peppered the ground with even more destruction. No life, save the soldiers of Draxon, was found within.

And at the heart of the darkness stood a monolithic structure, many times larger than anything seen throughout Aster. Four blade-like spires were impaled at the edges of the vast, bottomless crater at the very center of Aster. Although most of the structure was not visible in the darkness, two massive glowing eyes were clearly visible at the center, glaring down at the Draxonian army from several stories above.

"Why are these vermin before me now?"

"They will fight alongside your forces when the enemy who wishes you destroyed attacks," Zazkel replied, hovering closer to Eredar. More quietly, he added, "They are expendable, but valuable for the time being..."

"Hmm..."

The eyes shifted between Zazikel and the army, their vision obvious unaffected by the surrounding darkness. "I will enjoy watching them destroy each other. Just as I was beginning to think you a worthless maggot, you have given me something to watch as I work," the Traitor boomed, its glaring gaze falling on the army yet again. "What is this 'Greshlynk' they are shrieking about?"

"Their god," Zazikel replied. "False, obviously, but they believe in it nonetheless. I have made them think I am his emissary. Perhaps they think you are him given form. Who can say with humans?" He ignored the "maggot" remark. Any lesser being he would have crushed utterly when insulted in such a way, but there wasn't much he could do against a god. No Demon, even an Archdemon, was that powerful...

"Their stupidity towards their own origins is astounding, even to the likes of me," Eredar declared, showing the slightest sign of twisted amusement. "Perhaps I should show them the error of their ways. They draw strength from this figment of their imagination. Perhaps they will offer something more interesting while squabbling in confusion and disbelief."

Zazikel paused. As much as that would have entertained him as well, he needed them alive, for the time being. "Perhaps, after victory as been assured, you can use them as your playthings..."

"I will do as I please," the Traitor God stated, though his tone did not change. "Do not be frightened of these vermin, Zazikel. The coming conflict will only occur because I allow it. They will launch their pathetic attempt at rebellion and dance to the music of their own demise, all for my amusement. When I have had my fair share, I will unmake them all," it continued with that same twisted sense of satisfaction. "Perhaps, if you prove yourself to be a competent minion, I will give you a few souls to play with after it has ended."

"As you wish, Eredar," Zazikel replied. He didn't much like being a minion, but it was a small price to pay to get the rewards he knew he would get for serving one of Aster's creators personally...

Icil's straightened horns and tender face were almost the only parts of her head that she didn't touch; she had been working with her hair, similar to a seamstress and her yarn. The young hybrid's thick hair seemed to grow softer with each stroke of her finger tips as she continued to await an answer to her question...

"All the time," Kard finally replied. "There are many things I wish that I could have prevented.. some worse than others.. but, there is nothing one can do about it now. What has happened cannot be undone. We must simply continue moving forward... or risk becoming lost in the past..."

Ivan had fallen asleep, the older man resting his head against his walking stick while in a kneeling position...

Draxon's soldiers stood tall, the army simply standing unflinching, unmoving like a wall of metal. They didn't even flinch as the rain started. This was thier time to shine... and they would not lose it...

Draco had become a bit reclusive in the past few hours. He pondered to himself of his decisions, and whether he was wise to do this thing. He had spent the past few hours writing a letter.... for what was anyone's guess. Perhaps he was simply going over what happened in the long stretch since he became king...

Dhoulmagus and his shadowy legions awaited Zazikel's underlings' command...

The necromancer neatly put some of her hair back through the band, setting it back into a ponytail. She glanced at Ivan, getting somewhat tired herself; just watching him made her a little sleepy.

Cyris stopped, resting herself in a spruce tree, breathing heavily, sitting in a crouch position on one of the tree's branches...

The Valenhadian army marched fearlessly into the heart of the darkness that had engulfed Aster beneath its hellish cloak. At their head, Knight Commander Alexander led his forces on drake-back, the drake remaining grounded for the time being, as were most of the Dragons, for the sake of not allowing the much faster beasts to pull ahead of the army. The sum of over fifty thousand troops marched side by side, their footfalls coming in unison with such synchronisation they seemed to be one massive war machine, the blue and gold Valenhad coat of arms emblazoned on their shields. pikemen marched at the forefront, spears rising high in the air, their large shields hiding a good half of their bodies. Behind them stood platoons of other forces. Behind them, siege engines mounted on the backs of countless beasts, some from Valenhad, others from the Desert Factions, moved steadily forwards. booming bellows and guttural snarls created a fearsome cacophony of rage, tusked behemoths and plated giants trundled forwards, eager to bring down the enemy that stood ahead.

The Desert Factions themselves formed ranks to the side of the Valenhadians, the forces split into platoons of ten thousand or more. The most seasoned of their men stood at the forefront, light armour covering their bodies, many armed with dual scimitars, some with a sword and a shield, yet more using glaives, bladed staves and scythes, among numerous other, more exotic weapons. Their icy eyes and hardened faces stared out into the darkness ahead, and the horrors they would no doubt face, unwavering. Defeat was not an option. Withdrawal was not an option. A stalemate was not an option. The only option that existed was to break the tide of horrors that emerged from the horrific mist as long as it took. Every soldier in their ranks had been told of the strength of their opponent, both the units before them and the ultimate force directing them all. They had been told that conventional tactics would not work, and that they should aim to cripple their opponents primarily.

To the Valenhadian army's other flank was the Zupppolandian armed forces. upwards of twenty thousand soldiers marched, clad in iridescent blue-green armour reminiscent of that which wrapped Desrium's form. They wielded a variety of weapons, among which being tridents, double-headed axe-staves and jagged, needle-like serrated blades. numerous large crustacean-like beasts trudged forward with them, the beasts massive by human standards, armed with two sets of pincers and covered in rocky, jagged spikes. glowing bioluminescent patterns dotted their plated hides, throwing off the locations of their 6 eyes. For all intents and purposes, the force that had been assembled here was the greatest Valenhad had seen in millennia; perhaps the greatest ever to march on its soil. If they did not succeed in the coming battle, nothing would succeed...

Arashi meanwhile, walked at the back. His glowing mane shimmered brightly with energy, his eyes glowing deep red as he looked into the distance, staring at the impenetrable darkness. He was certain that fool Zazikel had assembled his minions to fight. But it would be of little consequence. He made a mental note to track down the Archdemon at the conclusion of this battle. And, should this battle fail, he would see to it that he destroyed as much of the enemy force as he could before he eventually fell. For now however, his focus was on the battle, and his role in it...

Septimus walked alongside Radamand and Tzeentch, clad in Dragon form, runes covering his entire body as a result of meditative work he had been doing over the past hours. His eyes were engulfed in blue-white light that flowed from them in wisps, and power rolled and flowed beneath his scales eagerly, barely contained. His concern over the upcoming battle was overshadowed by the burning anger he felt for the destruction that now surrounded him. This could not be allowed to continue. This decay ended today...

Andruil stood amidst the Valenhadian ranks, sword in hand, the runed decorating the blade glowing like a beacon as it warned of the impending danger around them. his feral yellow eyes seemed to almost glow, and he felt a calm that had not been felt in years. Before the departure from the shrine, the Knight had approached a number of Council representatives in regards to the wards that bound his Lycanthropy. In such a crucial battle, he could not risk being overpowered by the Beast within. The mages of the Council had bolstered the Wards, returning them to their original strength, as they were in his Grandfather. No more would he feel the aggravation, irritation and restlessness of his condition plaguing him. He now had the ability to shift at will, and could retain his consciousness for prolonged periods even in his beastly alter-form...

Suddenly, Cyris could feel something grasping at her. A pain started to fill her head. What was going on? The elf grasped her head as she shuddered and knelt, groaning in agony as she dug her fingers into the bark of the tree. Her insanity was in the act of being spawned from her already evil corruption...
